1 Introduction
Before you start assembling the 8-fold Switch Module and put the device into operation, please read this
assembly and operating instructions carefully to the end, especially the section referring to the safety notes.
2 Product description
With the 8-Fold Switch Module it is possible to connect direct power consumers and alternative power consumers
with an output of up to 8A continuous power.
The switch module can be controlled directly by an external button (e.g. light switch) or by button-menu on the
module top side, independent of the 1-Wire interface For switch operation only 12 V power is required. Thus, a
high reliability, e.g. for switching of lightings, outlet circuits or other consumers can be reached, even in case of a
breakdown of a central control / software.
To operate the switch module we recommend the use of one of our 1-Wire Hub modules.

7 Operating mode, display and control
The module has two modes of operation: normal mode and manual control mode.
Normal mode: After start-up, the device is in normal operation mode. This means that a command is applied
directly by the 1-Wire interface to the appropriate output relay. The respective output LED is lit.
Manual control mode: By pressing the button „MAN/Select“ for 2 seconds, the module switches to manual
control mode (manual operation). The „PWR“ LED flashes to confirm selection of manual control mode.
By briefly pressing the “MAN/Select” button an output will be selected. LEDs 1 - 8 light up for the selected output.
With the „ON/OFF“ button, selected output will be switched on or off.
It is also possible to switch desired number of outputs in one cycle.
After a waiting period of approximately 2 seconds, the device switches automatically into „Normal mode”
operation. The „PWR“ LED lights up again permanently and selected outputs are activated.
Delete „Manual control mode“: By pressing the „ON/OFF“ button for 2 seconds, outputs selected in the manual
control mode will be switched off.

8 8-fold digital input, pushbutton interface
Besides the manual control mode (module top face) and the 1-Wire interface, the module also has an
8-Fold Pushbutton Interface (8 x Digital Input) to switch the outputs.
To switch an output, a brief input signal (pressing the button) on the respective input is sufficient.
The 8-fold pushbutton interface is designed to switch lightings or sockets in the living area by e.g. light switches
or motion detectors with pulse output. This ensures fast switching even with no system control available.
The impulse control, comparable to a staircase lighting timer, allows any number of light sensors and motion
detectors to be connected at the same time.

Apart from light buttons, any other pulse control signal can be used to trigger the outputs.
All three interfaces, the manual control mode interface, the 1-Wire interface as well as the button interface, work
in parallel on the outputs. For instance, a via the 1-Wire interface triggered output can be switched on or off either
manually or with button interface.
For instance, light switches can be connected to the button interface, in order to control the on/off light
commands. In this respect, normal light switches from all manufactures can be used.
Within the module, a µ-controller takes over the query of the buttons of the 1-Wire interface and the control of the
relays. The query of the buttons and the 1-Wire component is handled by flank control.
The status of the relays is output by the 1-Wire interface. It does not matter if push button interface, manual mode
or 1-Wire command (software) has been used.
9 Software / Control
The 1-Wire interface of the 8-Fold digital output 8/8 is being controlled by standard commands for the DS2408
module. Outputs connected by the button interface or manual control mode can be read back with the 1-Wire
Interface.
10 Control by 1-Wire Controller / 1-Wire Gateway
The 1-Wire interface of 8-Fold digital output 8/8 is controlled by standard commands for the DS2408 module.
Outputs switched by the pushbutton interface or in manual mode can be read back by the 1-wire interface. The 8-
fold High Power switching module can be easily controlled by a 1-Wire Controller / 1-Wire Gateway. For this
purpose the following two commands are available.
10.1 Switching of an output relay
To switch a relay output, use the following command to set the selected output to 0 or 1.
Command: SET,OWD,OUT,OWD-Number,Output,Value
Example: set,owd,out,2,1,1 => OWD Number 2, output 2 will be switched to “on”.
After switching the output latest status will be output as confirmation.
10.2 Switching of all output relays (Port)
Some applications require switching all outputs with one command. The following command sets all outputs of the
1-Wire module to a desired state. Using this command will overwrite the current output status. The 1-wire
controller / 1-wire gateway handles the command adaptation to the connected 8-Fold digital output 8/8.
The input value will be output as decimal value 0-254. Each relay output has a value, which is added up in each
case.
Input 1 = 1, Input 2 = 2, Input 3 = 4, Input 4 = 8, Input 5 = 16, Input 6 = 32, Input 7 = 64,
Input 8 = 128.
If, e.g. outputs 1, 3 and 5 should be switched to 1, add up the output values.
This example: 1 + 4 + 16 = 21
All other relay outputs will be set to 0. If all outputs should be set to 0, output value will be 0 as well.
Possible output values for 1-Wire digital outputs: 0 –255
Command: SET,OWD,OUTH,OWD-Number,Output value
Example: set,owd,outh,2,15 => OWD Number 2, outputs 1 to 4 will be switched to “on”.
After switching the output, latest status will be output as confirmation.
10.3 Data Output 1-Wire Controller / 1-Wire Gateway
For the 8-Fold Digital Output 8/8, the following data are output for binary / digital inputs (pushbutton interface) and
relay outputs. The input/output value will be output as decimal value 0-254. In a second data set output will be
with binary display (0 and 1). Each input and each output has a value, which is added up in each case.
Input pushbutton interface:
Input 1 = 1, Input 2 = 2, Input 3 = 4, Input 4 = 8, Input 5 = 16, Input 6 = 32, Input 7 = 64,
Input 8 = 128.
