Installation Instructions
T ese instructions give a guide for t e installation of t e appliance but in no way absolves t e
installer from responsibilities to confirm to Britis Standards, in particular BS8303 and BS6461,
relating to t e installation of solid fuel appliances. T e installation s ould also comply wit local
Building Regulations and Local Aut ority Bye-Laws.
T e stove must be placed at least 40cm away from any combustible materials. If necessary,
any adjoining walls s ould be protected from t e effects of eat.
Chimney and Flue
T e successful operation of t is stove relies on t e adequate performance of t e
c imney to w ic it is connected. T e c imney must:
•Have an internal cross section of no less t an 320 cm.sq (200mm Dia.). (If a
flue liner is used it s ould be 6" diameter for t e 700 17B stove, and suitable
for wood burning).
•Be a minimum 4.6m ig from eart level to pot.
•Be terminated at least 1m above roof level so t at t e c imney does not
terminate in a pressure zone. See Figure.1
•Be free from cracks, severe bends, voids, and obstructions.
•Be connected to t e one appliance only.
•New c imneys must be built in accordance wit local building regulations.
•Existing c imneys must be tested in accordance wit HETAS requirements.
•If t e stove is installed as a free-standing appliance, it s ould not support any
part of t e c imney.
•Voids in t e c imney s ould be avoided, as t ese will prevent a steady flue
draug t. T e stove flue pipe s ould pass beyond t e narrowing of t e
c imney. See Figure 2
•Consideration s ould be given to falling soot. For rear outlet stoves it may be
necessary to provide a soot catc ment area in t e flue pipe so t at soot does
not settle in t e pat of t e flue gases. A flue/c imney access point may also
be required so t at t e state of t e c imney can be c ecked and any fallen
soot removed.
•External flues must be insulated to prevent eat loss.

T e installer as a responsibility under t e Healt and Safety at Work Act 1974 to provide for t e safety of
persons carrying out t e installation. Attention is drawn to t e fact t at fire cement is caustic and ands
must be was ed t oroug ly after use. T e appliance is eavy and care must be taken during andling.
Alt oug t e appliance does not contain asbestos products, it is possible t at asbestos may be disturbed
in existing installations and every precaution must be taken
