AstandardDigitalMultiMeter(DMM)inmVACmodecanbeusedtodisplaythecurrent
measurementwhentheCAseriesAdaptorisconnectedtotheDMM.
TheCA3018isthe18”(45.7cm)clampversionandtheCA3010isthe10”(25.4cm)clampversion,
otherwisebothmetersarethesame.ThesedevicesareprofessionalCATIV600VCATIII1000V
instruments.Thismeterisshippedfullytestedandcalibratedand,withproperuse,willprovide
yearsofreliableservice.

ACCurrentMeasurements
WARNING:EnsurethatpowertothedeviceundertestisOFFbeforestartingthisprocedure.
SwitchpowertothedeviceundertestONonlyaftertheclamphasbeensafelyattachedtothe
deviceundertest.
CAUTION:DonotmovefingersabovetheLCDatanytimeduringatest.
1. SwitchOFFtheClampAdaptor,theDMM,andthedeviceundertest.
2. ConnecttheClampAdaptortotheDMMbananajacksusingthesuppliedbananaplugs.
3. SwitchONtheDMMandsettheDMMtotheACVmode.
4. SettheRangeSelectswitchontheClampAdaptortotheexpectedcurrentrange
measurement.
5. TurntheknurledclamplockmechanismontheClampAdaptorcounter‐clockwisetorelease
theflexibleclamp.
6. Fullyencloseonlyoneconductorofthedeviceundertestwiththeflexibleclampprobe(see
accompanyingdiagrams).Donotattempttomeasurecurrenthigherthanthespecified
currentlimit.
7. SwitchtheClampAdaptorON(pressPowerbutton)andthenswitchthedeviceundertest
ON.NevermovefingersabovetheLCDwhenrunningatest.
8. ReadthecurrentvalueintheDMMdisplay.
9. RemovepowertothedeviceundertestbeforeremovingtheFlexibleClampconnectionand
disconnectingtheapplicationsetup.

Maintenance
WARNING:Toavoidelectricalshock,disconnectthemeterfromanycircuitandturnOFFthe
meterbeforeopeningthecase.Donotoperatethemeterwithanopencase.
CleaningandStorage
Periodicallywipethecasewithadampclothandmilddetergent;donotuseabrasivesor
solvents.Ifthemeterisnottobeusedfor60daysormore,removethebatteriesandstorethem
separately.
BatteryReplacement
CAUTION:RemovethemeterfromtheconductorundertestandswitchthemeterOFF
beforeopeningthebatterycompartment.
1. Withaflatbladescrewdriverorcoin,rotatethebatterycompartmentcovertotheunlock
position.
2. Removethebatterycompartmentcover.
3. Replacethe2‘AAA’1.5Vbatteriesobservingcorrectpolarity.Positivesideofbothbatteries
insertfirst.
4. Re‐attachthebatterycompartmentcover.
5. Rotatethebatterycompartmentcovertothelockposition.
You,astheenduser,arelegallybound(EUBatteryordinance)toreturnallused
batteries,disposalinthehouseholdgarbageisprohibited!Youcanhandover
yourusedbatteries/accumulatorsatcollectionpointsinyourcommunityor
whereverbatteriesaccumulatorsaresold!
