1. Main Features / Introduction
Thank you for choosing a FAME Hybrid PRO sound module. You have made the right choice. Your
new instrument offers you first-class sound quality and maximum flexibility. The FAME Hybrid PRO
sound module has an open sound architecture and offers you 12 independent trigger channels, 4
audio outputs and 4 GB sound memory.
Trigger
The FAME Hybrid PRO sound module has an ultra-fast and precise trigger interface and allows you
to play practically latency-free with a very wide dynamic range. Depending on the pad used, different
sounds can be triggered via different zones. The snare channel has 2 zones ( head, rim, cross stick),
the tom channels of the FAME Hybrid sound module have 1 zone, whereas the cymbal channels
offer 2 different sound zones (edge, bow and bell). In addition, the cymbal channels have a choke
function, which allows the manual muting of sounds like a conventional cymbal.
Sounds
The soundso f the FAME Hybrid PRO sound module impress with an absolutely natural sound
experience. This is achieved by a complex multi-layer process. Drums and cymbals were recorded in
hi-end sound studios with multiple microphones at different distances. Some sounds were rather "dry"
and others with clearly audible room acoustics ("Ambience") were mixed in stereo.
"Multi-Layer" at Fame means that each instrument is recorded at many different volume levels. This
means that not only the volume, but also the sound and frequency characteristics change with
different beat intensity. Some of the factory sounds consist of up to 128 individual layers. The result is
an absolutely natural sound behaviour and an outstanding authenticity of the samples.
You can assign any sound to each drum channel. However, there are instruments with several (sound)
zones, which are only completely available if they are also controlled by a suitable pad (e.g. cymbal
sounds with 3 zones: edge, surface, crest). Each drum sound is saved as a single file and clearly
sorted in folders. This way you always have an overview and can easily organize your sounds.
In addition, the Hybrid Pro features exclusive sounds by Simon Phillips and Marco
Minnemann. Both belong to the best drummers worldwide and have recorded their
own drum-set exclusively for the Fame Hybrid Pro.

Memory spaces (Kits)
The FAME Hybrid PRO sound module provides you with 4 GB of sound storage with 100 memory
locations, 40 of which are empty, i.e. user kits. With the FAME Hybrid PRO all kits are pre-
configured from the factory and can still be changed and saved according to your wishes. Of course
you can also rename and re-sort the kits, which makes them easier to access and handle on stage. To
be able to save, the SAVE function must be activated on the page MIXER-UNIT-PREF. (chapter 8.10)
Play-Along-Function
If you like to practice to songs or recorded playbacks, you can load normal WAV files in CD quality
(stereo, 16 bit/44.1 kHz) into the module via USB and then assign them to a kit. Alternatively, you can
connect a player/smartphone to the line-in jack. Naturally you can also feed in other instruments or a
monitor mix via this input (live or studio respectively).
Metronome
With the built-in metronome you can not only practice and refine your technique, but also use it for
live performances. You can save an individually programmed metronome per kit. You have a variety of
time signatures and sounds at your disposal and can set the tempo precisely to your specifications.
The metronome can also be used as a one- or two-bar single counter: in matching mode the click
stops automatically.
PC/Mac-Editor
With the editor software of the FAME Hybrid PRO you can comfortably manage your module from
your computer and even create your own sounds. Once the FAME Hybrid PRO is connected to your
computer (Mac or PC) via USB. Now start the editor and access the module. Now you can organize
and manage the internal kits. Assign sounds from the extensive internal library and make your
personal settings (tuning, volume, pan). You can listen to the sounds comfortably on your computer
and edit the settings effortlessly. Furthermore you can create your own sounds in a special format.
Create your own multi-layer sound files from WAV files, e.g. from recordings of your acoustic set or
sounds from sample libraries.
The FAME editor is available as a free download from our website www.musicstore.de.
You will find the links in the product text for the respective Hybrid Pro product that you
have purchased.

2. Basic Know-How
2.1 Operation
The operation of the module is simply structured and is done intuitively via 5 menu items (MIXER-
UNIT/PROGRAM/CHANNEL/SOUND/SPECIAL) with various sub-pages. These sub-pages can be
selected in sequence by pressing the PAGE UP or PAGE DOWN buttons respectively. There are no
second levels and no hidden menu items.
The main display is divided into six different sections. With the three DATA buttons above the display
you control the values or functions respectively in the upper half of the display. Press the respective
button directly above the desired field to change values or start functions. The three lower fields, on
the other hand, are operated by the central rotary knob. With this knob you can change the values of
the currently selected parameter placed above it. To select another parameter in the lower row, all
you have to do is press the rotary knob. The flashing of the parameter heading indicates which
parameter is activated.

2.2 Menu Structure
The FAME Hybrid PRO module is characterised by a simple and intuitive menu structure. There are
five general menu areas, which can be easily accessed with the MODE button.
MIXER-UNIT
PROGRAMM
CHANNEL
SOUND
SPECIAL
Each menu area has different pages, on which the individual functions are grouped according to topic.
There are pages that contain global settings and others that allow separate settings for each drum
channel. Use PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN to scroll through each menu to access the desired page.
2.3 Drag & Drop (USB Modus)
If you connect the FAME Hybrid PRO to your computer (PC or Mac) via USB and start it in USB
mode, it will be recognised and displayed as a "normal" memory drive. The module now behaves
exactly like an external USB hard drive or card reader. For example, you can transfer, move and copy
sound files between your computer and your FAME module by drag and drop. This makes the
management of FAME sounds as easy and unproblematic as the handling of digital photos, MP3s or
Office files. To start the FAME Hybrid PRO in USB mode, simply press and hold the left DATA button
above the display while you turn on the device.
If the module is correctly connected to the computer, "R" (under "Stat") symbolises the read mode
and "W" the write mode. Please note that errors may occur in the file system if you disconnect the
USB connection while the module is in read (R) or write (W) mode.
Back Up
If you have connected the Fame Hybrid Pro module to your computer via USB, you can easily create a
backup of the module content and save your sound files from accidental loss. Copy the files 1:1 to
your computer or use a conventional backup programme.
You can change the folder structure according to your own ideas and preferences in order to structure
your file storage system according to your individual needs. With regard to the display size of the
Fame Hybrid Pro module, it is recommended not to use long folder names and not to create too many
layers for the sake of clarity.
2.4 File System
If you read the internal SD card in your computer, you can access the complete contents of the
module. With the Fame Editor you can now easily adjust the internal presets, copy new sounds to the
storage medium and, if necessary, make backups, making the management of FAME sounds just as
simple and unproblematic as the handling of digital photos, MP3s or Office files.
You can change the folder structure according to your own ideas and preferences in order to structure
your file storage system according to your individual needs. With regard to the display size of the

11
ENGLISH
Fame Hybrid Pro module, it is recommended not to use long folder names and not to create too many
layers for the sake of clarity.
On the main level you will find the following files:
HybridPro-Pad_set.dkit: User KIT Bank; your personal KIT and UNIT settings are stored in
this file.
HybridPro-Pad_setInit.dkit: Factory settings are saved in this file. This file is required to
restore the factory settings.
FameOS1.XX.XX.bin: Operating system of the Fame Hybrid Pro.
globalconfig.dcfg: Module-wide configuration file; KIT Bank independent settings are stored
in this file..
.metadata_never_index: Indexing file required for Mac operating systems.
The folders contain the Fame sound files in DSND format and the playalongs in WAV format.
ATTENTION: Do not format the SD card completely, otherwise the module will be unusable. You can
delete or replace all files without any problems, but if the SD card is formatted, the module will be
damaged.
ATTENTION: If there is a file with the name Fameinit.bin on your delivered module, please replace
it with the file FameInit.dKit. This file is available for download on our homepage.
ATTENTION: If your module shows the error that it "freezes" after a certain time or does not react
anymore, this is due to a faulty SD card holder. Contact us immediately at drums-
Attention: Only play in the program unit, i.e. the second of five units (LED Programm). In all other
modes, errors and freezing of the module will occur in continuous play mode. New settings can also
be tested in the other units.
Functions when switching on
When you switch on the module, you have the option of using the various functions by pressing the
DATA or MODES buttons:Press the data button 1 and then switch on the module to activate the USB
mode. The Hybrid Pro is then recognized as a storage device if there is an existing USB connection to
the PC / MAC. So you can i.a. Store sounds, kits and operating systems on the module via drag &
drop. Press Data button 2 and then switch on the module to choose between the operating systems
on the module. Several operating systems can be stored on the Hybrid Pro at the same time; here you
determine which OS is running. If you press MODES and switch on the module, you have the option of
choosing from the various kit banks that you have created. For example, you can load different kit
banks with individually adapted settings onto the module for different bands or gigs and then call
them up if necessary. In addition, you can create a kit bank for an e-drum set and one for a triggered
acoustic set.

12
ENGLISH
2.5 User-Kit-Bank and User-Kit-File
The user kit bank contains 100 (60 USER) Kits (programme slots),90 of which are already completely
occupied with various KIT setups when delivered from the factory. All 100 kits can be freely modified
by you and then saved if required. Please note that the SAVE mode must be activated for this.
More User-Kit-Banks
It is even possible to use several User-KIT banks. Simply copy the HybridPro-Pad_set.dkit file on
your module and rename the file to your liking. Now you have 2 User-KIT banks with 100 freely
editable KITs each! To switch between the different User-KIT-Banks, you have to select the respective
bank when starting the module. To do this, keep the MODE button pressed while switching on the
unit. In the selection menu that now appears you can choose between the individual User-KIT banks
(PREV and NEXT) and then open the desired database. (OPEN)

Drum-Channel: A drum channel is equivalent to the connection possibilities of the module. The
HIHAT and RIDE channels each have two trigger input sockets: A and B. The actual pad signal is
connected to socket A and an optional control signal (HH Control, Bell Control) to socket B.
Trigger-Channel: The FAME Hybrid PRO offers connection possibilities for up to 12 pads (drum
channels). A total of 12 independent trigger channels are available.
MIDI-Note: The overview shows the MIDI notes that are assigned to the individual trigger channels
by the manufacturer. Naturally these settings can be changed individually.
A special feature is available for the drum channels HIHAT and CRASH ½ and RIDE (highlighted in
grey in the table). The individual MIDI notes control a zone or the choke function respectivley
(marked by (x) in the table).

13
ENGLISH
Example:
CYMB 1: E4 = Bell, F4 = Bow, F#4 = Edge, (G4) = Choke Function
The four MIDI notes are linked together as a group and cannot (!) be changed individually. Only the
first MIDI note can be edited. The other MIDI notes are permanently linked to the first note. The
notes result from successive semitone steps. If, for example, the MIDI note of the drum channel
CRASH 1 (see example above) is changed from E4 to G4, the MIDI notes of the other zones will
automatically change accordingly.
CRASH 1: G4 = Bell, G#4 = Bow, A4 = Edge, (A#4) = Choke Function
Please ensure that there is no overlap with other channel settings.
Zone: The zones are sound areas to which different sounds are assigned depending on the type of
drum channel (e.g. TOM, SNARE). The different types of pads, in turn, have playing areas (zones)
that match the corresponding (sound) zones. Please note that you may not be able to use all sounds
if you connect a pad where the playing areas do not correspond to the zones of the drum channel. For
example, if you use a tom pad on a CYMBAL channel, you will not be able to trigger all sounds.
3. Connections
12V DC: Here you connect the external power supply unit.
MIDI IN: Connect your module to the output of an external control device to receive MIDI signals.
MIDI OUT: Connect your module to the input of an external control device to send MIDI signals.
Channels: Connect your pads to the respective input as labeled. Since the input sockets are stereo,
you should only use stereo cables.
OUT 1 to 4 Connect the input of your mixing console or amplifier to the FAME Hybrid PRO. The
outputs OUT1 and 2 are factory set to reproduce the complete mix signal as a stereo sum. Outputs
OUT 3 and OUT 4, however, contain the respective BUS signal. If necessary, you can also assign BUS
signals (BUS1 and BUS2) to OUTs 1 and 2. You make this setting on the MIXER-UNIT-OUT page.
PHONES: Connect a standard headphone here. The desired volume can be adjusted with the LEVEL
control on the right below the display.

14
ENGLISH
LINE IN: Connect an external sound source here. You can use a stereo cable (e.g. from your
smartphone) or a mono cable if you want to hear a live monitor signal via the FAME Hybrid PRO. If
you connect a mono cable, the audio signal only sounds "centred" if you select "Mono" in the MIXER-
UNIT menu on the OUT page.
Allocation of the jack plug
All pads are connected with stereo jack cables. The "Tip" of the connector carries the trigger signal for
the main zone, whereas the "Ring" signal controls other zones or functions respectively.
Output possibilities
The FAME Hybrid PRO offers you an optimal "output solution" for every situation. From a simple
stereo total mix on the headphones to individual monitor and playback setups you can realize almost
everything with the routing possibilities of the FAME Hybrid PRO. Up to four individual outputs
(direct-out signals) can be used for live or studio applications.
Connect FAME Hybrid PRO
The FAME Hybrid PRO is designed for use with pro audio equipment (PA, mixing console, audio
interface, amplifier etc.) as well as for use with headphones.
Please pay attention to which devices you connect to the FAME Hybrid PRO:
Normal hi-fi systems respectively the tweeters of the speakers involved could be quickly
damaged by the comparatively high dynamics of the output signal. Always start with a
low volume and then increase it gradually.

15
ENGLISH
4. Control Elements
MODE
With Mode you scroll through the different modes, the selected mode is indicated by LED.
TRIG
Press the TRIG button to hear the sound of the selected channel.
MORE
You need the MORE button for additional functions and operating steps (e.g. UNDO/REDO. With the
aid of the MORE button, you can, for example, call up the last visited edit page in the menu. If you
hold down the MORE button, you can use the DATA buttons to call up the parameter values in reverse
order.
DATA buttons
These three buttons are used to change parameters step by step, which are shown in the top two
lines of the display below. Examples: Saving settings, UNDO/REDO steps, start/stop commands for
the metronome or media player respectively.
DATA knob
Use this knob to change the values of the currently selected parameter. To select another parameter
in the lower row, simply press the knob. The flashing of the parameter title indicates which parameter
is activated. Some parameters have a second function level. This is shown in the display by an arrow
behind the respective parameter. Hold down the MORE key and press the knob to use the second
function level or to change the additional parameters accordingly.

16
ENGLISH
LEVEL knob
This control adjusts the overall volume of the module. By default, this applies to the headphones
output as well as the main outputs OUT1 and OUT2; the latter can, however, be decoupled from the
LEVEL control in the menu, so that your signal is always output with fixed amplification.
Display
The display of the FAME Hybrid PRO can show up to 6 parameters. Usually these are three below
the DATA buttons and three above the DATA knob. The name of the parameter is in the upper row
(see example: SOUND, LAYER, VOICE, ATTACK, HOLD, DECAY) and the value to be edited is below
(see example: ATTACK = .003).
However, there are also pages in which the value extends over several areas. From the context,
however, it is clear what this is all about. In the example below the complete second line is used for
the kit name and the kit number is shown without a heading.
Furthermore there are pages in which not all keys/knobs are assigned a function. On the SPECIAL-
CFUNC page (see example below) there is only one parameter.
The separate vertical display section on the right-hand edge always shows which menu page you are
currently on.

5. HiHat Setup
Please note: If you use the Fame Hybrid Pro with the included hi-hat, it is already
calibrated. These instructions are valid for off-brand hi-hat pads and fine tuning:
The hi-hat is the most complex instrument in a drum setup. The FAME Hybrid PRO offers you the
greatest possible flexibility to use as many hi-hat pads and controllers as possible from different
manufacturers. However, this flexibility also means that the setup of the hi-hat on the FAME Hybrid
PRO has to be done in more detail. However, the setup and calibration is usually only done the first
time the pad is used.
If you follow these instructions step by step, you will easily master the hi-hat setup.
Connect the hi-hat pad and, if necessary, the optional hi-hat controller to the corresponding inputs on
the module.
Then call up the MIXER-UNIT-HCAL menu page. Please note that this page is only displayed if the hi-
hat channel is selected. Either select the hi-hat channel manually using the channel buttons or tap the
hi-hat pad.
Now select which hi-hat you have connected
DEF all common hi-hat types and brands
2BOXHH 2BOX DrumIt Five Hi-Hat
ALEHH Alesis Crimson Hi-Hat-Controller
Now change the RAW value so that it matches the connected pad. Use a screwdriver to turn the small
recessed screw on the back of the module (HH Cal). The following values are average guide values.
Depending on the desired playing feel, you can freely adjust these values.
Yamaha 850-900
Roland 800-850
Alesis 830-880
2BOX 600-650
Now start the calibration
Press the left DATA button once. The symbol of a closed hi-hat appears and flashes.
Now close the hi-hat pad or push down the pedal of the controller with your foot.

18
ENGLISH
Press the left DATA button a second time. The symbol of an open hi-hat appears and flashes.
Now open the hi-hat pad and take your foot off the pedal accordingly.
Press the left DATA button a third time to complete the calibration.
The display shows "done". You have now successfully completed the calibration. If "NoChg" appears
on the display, the calibration did not work or you have calibrated the hi-hat a second time exactly the
same way. If the calibration did not work, please check steps 1 to 4 and then start the calibration
again.
After the successful calibration you can now test if the hi-hat can be played as desired. If you are not
satisfied with the result, you can either run the calibration again or fine-tune the created calibration
using the following parameter values.
PFACT: Increase this value to raise the lower calibration limit. This is especially useful for maintaining
a constant Foot Chic (kicked hi-hat) and Foot Splash (kicked and quickly released hi-hat). You should
devote some time to this parameter.
POFF: With this value, you can change the range of the hi-hat calibration. A higher value increases
the range and a lower value decreases it. Make sure that you also adjust the PFACT value. You should
only use this parameter if you are familiar with the system.
Note: When using a Hi-Hat with non-reversed calibration, the function of the two
parameters is exactly inversed. The state if the calibration is reversed is shown as a capital
“R” left of the opening graphic in the CALIB parameter
Last but not least, you should spend some time on the trigger properties of the hi-hat channel. To do
this, call up the corresponding menu points:
MIXER-UNIT-TRIG: Here you set the playing behaviour of the hi-hat pad. Adjust the most important
values (GAIN, THRES, CURVE) to your playing. You should pay particular attention that the GAIN
value is set correctly. Only the strongest stroke should achieve a level value of 0.0.

MIXER-UNIT-HSET: On this page you adjust the sensitivity/volume of the triggered hi-hat signal
(SENS) or the dynamic behaviour of the triggered hi-hat (CURVE). Now your hi-hat is optimally
adjusted.
6. Menu structure
Mixer-Unit Menu
MIX: This page contains the internal mixer with which you can adjust the volumes of the individual
channels/instruments.
TRIG: Here you can set the most important trigger settings per channel. For example: Which pad
type have you connected? How sensitive should the pads react? Which dynamic curve suits your
personal playing? You can invest a little time in these settings. You will be amazed how natural the
playing behaviour of the FAME Hybrid PRO module will be afterwards.
HCAL: Make the settings adjustments for your hi-hat here and calibrate the pad. A detailed
explanation can be found in this manual. (only available if the hi-hat channel is occupied)
HSET: On this page you can refine the settings from the HCAL page and adjust them to your
individual playing style. (only available if the hi-hat channel is occupied)
SPEC: On this page you can configure settings to prevent double triggers or unwanted crosstalk. This
menu is particularly useful when working with acoustic triggers.
INTF: On this page you configure MIDI and routing settings for each channel. Define each MIDI
channel, mixer routing and manage the direct outs for each channel.
OUT: On this page you can define the input and output routing. Which signals should be routed to the
MAIN Out (OUT 1 and 2) and which to the headphone output?
METR: Here you set the sound of the internal metronome.
MIDI: On this page you can make global MIDI settings. How does the module react to program
change messages and what controller data is output for the hi-hat? These settings are important if
you want to record MIDI on your computer.
PREF: On this page you can manage the "Save" function and perform a factory reset.
MEM: Here you can see how much memory you still have available for further sounds.
INFO: This page informs you about the version number of the operating system.

Programme Menu
PROG: On the programme start page you select the desired kit and can start the internal metronome
or song player accordingly.
EQ: A 3-band EQ is available per kit. This can be used for all instruments or just one channel.
ACMP: On the internal player page, you can select whether you want to play to a playback song or a
metronome. The metronome can be customised and saved with the tempo.
KFNC: With the HHPOS function on this page you can fix the opening degree of the hi-hat without
having to change the calibration of the pad. This is especially useful if you want to use the "hi-hat
foot" for something else (e.g. double bass drum).
Attention: Only play in the program unit, i.e. the second of five units (LED Programm). In all other
modes, errors and freezing of the module will occur in continuous play mode. New settings can also
be tested in the other units.
Channel Menu
CHAN: On this page you select a trigger channel, i.e. a pad for further editing (note: you can also
select the desired channel automatically by striking the corresponding pad).
Sound Menu
DRUM: On this page you can assign a sound to each drum channel and tune it. To select the desired
channel, use the CHAN page in the CHANNEL menu (see above) or hit the corresponding pad.
Special Menu
ENV: Here you can fine tune the sounds and set the functionality of the loops per channel.
CFNC: Instead of a sound, you can also assign a function to a pad. Very useful if you want to start
and stop the internal metronome via "pad beat" or jump to the next kit.
VOL: Specify the volume and panorama settings per channel here.
