Before installing and commissioning the I-fan, read the safety instructions, provisions and conditions carefully.
This paragraph contains a number of general safety instructions. In the following paragraph, a number of specific
safety instructions are included in the installation instructions. The installation of the device and remedying of any
malfunctions should be performed by a certified electrical installer according to the applicable norms. The
guarantee does not apply if this product is installed in any other way than is indicated by Fancom and if the
product's motor has been opened and changes have been made to the product.
Never install a damaged I-fan! Notify your supplier of any damages.
Parts of this product may have sharp edges. Wearing safety gloves is therefore recommended.
Ensure that the workplace is clean and dry.
Disconnect electrical power before inspecting or servicing equipment.
Keep hands away from fan. Fan may start automatically. Do not operate the fan without the screens in
place.

Gn

g
Install the I-fan and associated components as follows:
1. Mount the I-fan and manual control (see page 3)
2. Connect the I-fan and manual control (see page 7)
3. Install the protective screen (optional) (see page 16)
4. Test the I-fan (see page 17)
Mount the I-fan in or on a (roof) structure with sufficient load-bearing capacity.
The direction of airflow must be from the motor to the impeller.
There must be sufficient free airflow available to cool the motor.
Most I-fan units are too heavy to lift. Take the necessary precautions.
Take the dimensions of various types of I-fan into account when installing.

Quick installation 35 - 80
Quick installation may only be done if the structure has exactly the same dimensions as the underside
of the module and is sufficiently solid.
Position the tube on the underside of the module. Take note that the openings through which the linking pins go
are directly across from each other.
1. Push the linking pins in so that the tube is connected to the module. If the linking pins can't be pushed in
completely (e.g. because they come in contact with the blades), then place them in the half-closed position.
Closed
2. Secure the linking pins by screwing in a screw with lock washer from inside the tube into the linking pins.
Drilling
50 and 56 I-fan in combination with CLICK extension tubes must be secured with 3 extra M4 bolts
(M4 bolts spaced 120° from each other) in addition to the 3 standard linking pins.

Gn
5
g
Assembly 63 –80
The 63-80 tube module is equipped with 6 mounting eyes; you must use at least 4 of these for affixing
to the (roof) structure.
Attach the wire/chain to the tube module and to the (roof) structure. Make sure the wires/chains cross each other.
The wire/chain may not be fed directly through the tube module's hanging eye. Fancom recommends
running steel hanging eyes through the tube module's hanging eyes and then attaching the wire or
chain to this. These hanging eyes and accessories are available in a mounting kit.
Place the protective screen (optional)
Place the protective screen on the I-fan (optional). See installation instructions on page 16.

Gn
6
g
The manual control can be connected to 1 or more fans with a maximum of 4.
Place one of the four avaiable manual operation boxes:
1. Local manual control with "Operation box I-Fan analog with I/O-net" (voltage controlled)
2. Central manual control with "Operation box I-Fan 4x analog" (voltage controlled)
3. Local manual control with "Operation box Potentiometer" (resistance controlled)
4. Central manual control with "Operation box Potentiometer" (resistance controlled)

Gn
7
g
Before connecting, turn off the power and turn it back on only after the entire installation is ready.
The motor/thermal protection is already integrated in the I-fan.
Due to a higher inrush current it is possible that the current protection will be activated during power up.
The number of I-fans that can be connected to current protection depends on the type of protection.
Type B: 2 I-fans
Type C: 4 I-fans
Make sure that the I-fan is connected to protective earth according to the guidelines.
Keep signal and power cables as short as possible.
Place cables preferably in a duct (separate signal cables from power supply cables).
Connect the I-fan and manual control:
•Connect the connection box (see page 8)
•Connect the manual control "Operation box I-Fan analog with I/O-net" (see page 9)
•Connect the manual control "Operation box I-Fan 4x analog" (see page 10)
•Check the jumper settings at the MCA (see page 11)
•Connect the manual control "Operation box Potentiometer" (see page 12)
•Connect the power supply (see page 13)
•Set the dipswitch settings (see page 14)

Gn

g
The I-fan connection box is supplied with the I-fan.

Gn
9

In order to connect the regulator's analog output, the standard connection Analog In (3) and Gnd (4)
must be removed from the MCA inside the cover.

By default, the jumper settings are set to overrule the I/O-net controlled I-fan units via the I/O network (1-10V). To
overrule the analog control I-fan units, the jumper settings must be changed to 0-10V / 10-0V. Do this as follows:
1. Open the cover of the manual operation box.
2. On the MCA board, replace the jumper with resistance with the jumper delivered as a standard.
3. Set the jumper to the proper position:

Specifications
Mounting and electric connection may be executed by qualified personnel only according to the
current standards and regulations. Please see the ID label attached to the motor for additional
information. Also see detailed specifications and fan characteristics for each type at

Placement of a protective screen is necessary if the I-fan:
•is within reach of animals and/or people, and
•is installed at heights less than 2.7 m above the floor.
The blades of the I-fan may run backward due to external influences. To prevent the I-fan turning in the
opposite direction, it is necessary to place a shutter. If the rotating speed of the blades in the opposite
direction is higher than 25% of the I-fan unit's maximum RPM, the I-fan is no longer able to reverse the
blades to the correct direction of rotation. Then, the I-fan will not start and will sound an alarm.
Disconnect the I-fan from the power supply before mounting the protective screen.
Make sure that the impeller is not turning.
Air inlet side
Install the protective screen on the I-fan and secure it as shown in the illustration below.

Gn
17
g
Air outlet side
1. Hold the protective screen up to the I-fan and trace the three drill holes.
2. Drill the three holes with a ø5mm bit.
3. Place the protective screen on the I-fan and fix the protective screen with an M5 x 30 bolt.
1. Check whether the I-fan has been connected correctly.
2. Check whether the I-fan works optimally.
Do not touch any of the I-fan moving parts.
