Quick Start Guide: PermaNET SU Installation
(Using HWM IDT).
Warning: Before continuing, carefully read and follow the information in the
“Safety Warnings and Approvals Information” document.

Note(s):
1. Loggers must be pre-registered on DataGate.
2. User must be pre-registered on DataGate.
Contact your System Administrator (or your HWM Sales representative) to obtain
your server URL, username and password information, etc.
3. Assumes DMAs are pre-registered on DataGate.

1PREPARE
1. Install required apps
Install “IDT”.
Install “HWM Deployment
App”
onto a mobile phone

2. Configure IDT app and Login
Launch IDT.
Add Server URL
Add Username
Add Password
Login
2DEPLOYMENT
1. Un-pack logger
Dispose of packaging
responsibly.
2. Fit antenna
Fit antenna to logger before use.
Rotate nut until finger tight.



3. Wake Logger
Hold strong magnet in position shown.
Wait 8 – 10s.
•Logger stays awake for 120s,
waiting for IDT to communicate.
•Communication with phone remains open
for 600s after last use.
4. Read barcode / Bluetooth scan
Tap “Barcode Scan” icon.
Scan barcode of logger.
IDT connects to Logger.
If fail, try (3) again.
Alternative:
Tap “Bluetooth Scan”.
Select logger from list; IDT connects to logger.
5. Setup Logger
Tap “Configure Device”.
Tap “Device Information”.
Set local time-zone.

6. Set Call-in Settings
Tap
“Call Settings”.
Set network details for
your SIM provider.
Set your DataGate destination
Set your required
logger call-in details
Note: These settings can (as an option) bepre-configured by HWM to customer
requirements.
7. Install Logger
Remove lid from chamber.
Clean location of attachment.
Install logger using magnetic base.
Position antenna within chamber.
Ensure cables have no bends.
Call-in daily at set times.
Save battery – Do not call if
latest data already sent OK.
Times at which to call with
data.

8. Check CSQ level
Tap
“Signal Test”
Fit lid of chamber and
check network CSQ level.
Summary of CSQ levels is shown below:
0-7 Poor.(The logger may be able to register with network but will not be able to
send or receive data reliably).
8-14 Acceptable (Depending upon the ambient conditions data transmission may
be possible. It is important to select the correct antenna and install it in the
most suitable location).
15+ Good (Data transmission should be reliable).
If required, adjust
antenna to get
best results.
•Move position
•Rotate
•Adjust height
9. Call Test.
Check in final position with
lid on chamber.
Tap
“Call Test”
Wait until complete.
Check “Call successful”.

3RECORD LOGGER DEPLOYMENT LOCATION /SITE DETAILS
1. Begin Deployment location recording
Tap
“Deploy Device”
Tap
“Configure server URL…”
Add details
Tap
“Test Connection”.
and confirm OK result.
Add Username
and Password
Tap
“Login”.
Select “Options” tab.
To sync with DataGate…
Tap “Last sync with server”.
2. Select Installation type.
Select “Install” tab.
Tap
“Installation type”
Select “New Install”

3. Obtain GPS location of site.
Tap
“GPS Coordinates”
Wait for map to load.
Position “X” onto location
of site of deployment.
(Move map using
touch-screen.
Zoom map if required).
When finished, tap on “Set”.
GPS locations are set.
Estimate of address is
set (editable).
4. Add Site Details
Add Site ID and DMA
(Tap line to enter).
Add pipe details.
(Tap line to enter).

Tap
“New photos”.
Tap
“Add from camera”
Take photos of installation site.
Tap
“Done”
Tap
“Save”
5. Upload to DataGate
Upload the deployment data to Datagate using the Upload icon (shown).
This uploads location details and also any photographs.
Note: It is important to sync frequently
6. Logger Deployment complete.
Leave site and go to the next site.
The logger will go to sleep.
7. Logger calls in with data.
Logger waits until it needs
to make leak evaluation.
Logger contacts DataGate
with daily results at call-in time.
