OPERATION, CARE, & MAINTENANCE
Contact us for assistance: (866) 985-7877 | www.balkenehome.com
INSPECTING:
This outdoor fire pit should be inspected on a regular basis to ensure product safety and longer product life.
Do NOT attempt to inspect this outdoor fire pit until the fire is COMPLETELY out and fire pit is COOLED COMPLETELY.
1. Check handle on Spark Guard/Fire Screen to make sure it is secure.
2. Check all parts for signs of damage or rust.
3. If you find any damaged parts, do NOT operate until repairs and/or replacement has been done.
CLEANING:
Clean this outdoor fire pit on a regular basis to promote a safer experience and longer product life.
NOTE: This solid copper fire bowl is shipped from the factory with a hand-applied coating of coconut oil to arrest the patina
process natural to copper. With use and exposure, this oil finish will wear off, and the copper will darken and patina. The
patina is a natural protectant against corrosion and will only add to the beauty of the copper bowl. The patina process may
include changes to the color and texture of the finish. If you wish to polish the copper, we recommend a good-quality
paste-type copper cleaner.
Do NOT attempt to clean this outdoor fire pit until the fire is COMPLETELY out and the fire pit has cooled completely.
Do NOT use oven cleaner or abrasive cleaners as they will damage this product.
Do NOT clean any part of this outdoor fire pit in a self cleaning oven as it may damage the finish.
1. Wipe exterior surfaces with a damp cloth or mild dishwashing detergent or baking soda.
2. For stubborn surfaces, use a citrus based degreaser and a nylon scrubbing brush.
3. Rinse with clean water.
4. Remove built-up creosote from components with a chimney cleaning product.
5. Fire Sense® products are made to resist premature rusting. However, eventually, all metals will rust. Some environments
promote premature rusting of metals. As with any burning appliance, periodic maintenance is required to return painted
surfaces to original appearance. If rust appears on painted surfaces, use sandpaper/emery cloth or a steel brush to
remove loose particles, then re-coat with paint intended for high-temperature surfaces. Select paint suitable for outdoor
grill maintenance and follow directions on the paint label.
STORAGE:
Do NOT move or store this outdoor fire pit until the fire is COMPLETELY out and the fire pit has cooled COMPLETELY.
1. Once the fire is out, coals are cold and outdoor fire pit is cool to the touch, remove ashes and dispose of properly.
2. It is best to cover the outdoor fire pit with a protective vinyl cover.
3. Store assembled in a location away from children and pets.
NOTE: If you do not use a protective cover for your fire pit, then store this unit in a dry location to maximize product
life.
1.
OPERATION:
2.
Prepare 3-4 sheets of newspaper, kindling, or other natural fire starter and place on top of the fuel grate.
3.
Pile finely split, dry, seasoned hardwood firewood on top of the kindling bed. Do not use large logs. Logs no larger
than 18" in length are recommended.
4.
Use a long match or wand-type lighter to light fire.
Burning fires require adult supervision at all times.
