INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the recreational vehicle lifestyle and the fast grow·
ing family of motor home owners. We sincerely thank you
for choosing our product.
Your motor home has been designed to provide you with
many years of carefree, pleasant traveling and vacationing.
This manual describes many features of your motor home
and provides a guide to operating procedures so that you can
obtain optimum performance from those features. Like all
finely crafted equipment, your motor home will require care
and regular maintenance in order to retain its maximum
performance characteristics. Thi. manual, along with the
inform&tioll provided in your Owner's Packet, outlines the
important areDS of maintenance and provides a maintenance
schedule that you should follow to asSuro safe, trouble-free
service from your motor home. Study these instructions care-

how to care for it will help you enjoy many miles of

exceed the American National StandardS Institute A119.2,
ANSI/NFPA 501 C, Canadian CSA Standard Z-240
(Canadian-built,
or units built for Canada), and/or appl,eable
motor homa veh ide standards. Thes\! standards establish the
plumbing, healing, electrical, and other ,equirements for
quality and safety. Compliance with these standards is
indicatud by the seal attached just outside the entry door.

The motor home has been thoroughly inspected before ship-
ment. It is thH duty of your dealer to inspect the motor home
and to prep~ro it for you during the predelivery phase of the
sale. He will instruct you in its basic use; however, this should
be supplemented by your roading all instructional material
furn,shed with the motor hom\!. If, after taking delivery of
your new motor home, you feel it requires additional
conditioning or adjustment, pleasH return it to your dealer
as soon as possible.
Should you have any questions regarding operation, main-
tenance, or service, pleaso contact your dealer immediately
so he can be of assistance. Your dealer's service or sales
department will promptly handle any normal problem which
might occur. Customer "",vice ;s of utmost importance to your
dealer, as well as to the manufacturer. If, for some
reason, a problem
is not handled to your satisfaction, we
make the following suggestions:

or the Owner of the dealership,
giving him an opportunity

the matter for you.
2. Should a problem arise that cannot be resolved to

c. Check oil level in the generalor power plallt (if
installed). Refer to instructions and m"int!!nance manual
provided bV thu genemtor manufacturer for other pre-
uS\) scrvicH rsquirement!; apphcable to tili, equipment.
Check Ihat extra oil and other se,vice supplies are pro-
vidud
for the generator powBr planl if the motor home
is to be used for extended periods.
d. Chock
that jack, jack handle, and lug wrench are pro-
perly stowed. NOTE:
The cila,;i. lug wrench may nOl
fit the spare tire holts. Be sure you have the proper
.ize wrench to remove the sflare lire.
H. Check that the 115-volt power cord is properly stowed
in compartment. A power slipply cord adapler wil! be
required
in some campiog areas. Be sure tu use adapters
which provide proper electrical ground.
f. Check thilt" sarviceublu fimextinguisher is secured in
tlw mounting bracket.
g. Verify that all i,emsyou plan to take are 011 board.
NOTE:
Be sure thu·wcight of passengers, equipment,
"nd .upplles docs not cause your motor home
to excE!€o axle loao; and overall vehicle loads
for which it was desi(jned. If in doubt, weigh
the vehicle at a public scale. See pmaqraph
on "WEIGHING".
h. Check that accessories. such as a sewer hose with tile
necessary fittings
and a water ,upply line (slich as
garden-ho"" type approved for 125 psi) are on-board.

j. Start refrigeralor a day ahead of time. Refrigerator will
stay cold for several hOlH" aher being turned OFF
while lrave!;n!!. Be sure 10 rp.light [t whan parked ilt
your campsite.
Check to see lila t drain-line cap and holding-tank knirn
v"ivc{s)
are closed and secured. Add a holdinn-tank chemical
to a row 9ullons of water in your oody·waste holding tank.

Fill the fuel tank. Your motor home is d€sigfled to use only
the fuel recommended
in the Chrnlsis Operator's Manual.
Fill the liqwd petroleum gas (LPG) fuel tankls) if required.
Check fO! .pam fuses of every size used in the vehicle. (See
Electrical System.)

Dodge instrument panel shown. For others, see
Chassis Operator's Manual.
Take the tim" beforu Icaving to become familiar with the
instrument control panel and the operation of all items in
the driver compartment. Check all instrllment controls in·
cluding
two·,peed wiper control, windshield washer, lighter,
emergency starl (optional), three-speed heater/defroster blower
control, and 11">3 unOOr·dash air conditioner blower/temperature
controls (optional). Also located on the dash is the sound
system. The Cru i.e Control (optional) is located on the turn
indicator handle. Tha emergency flasher control is located
on the right side
of the steering column. Refer to the Chassis
Operator's Manual
or individunl instructions from equipment
manufacturers for operation of equipment, both standard and
optional.

Your motor home is designsd to carry the loads defin~d by
thu Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) and Gruss Vehicle
Weight Rating (GVWRI shown on
the certification lag posted
on thH driver's door jamb. These ratinDs are for a fully·
loaded vehicle
i~cludi~g passengers and normal bciollgillQs.
Periodically weigh
thu fully-loaded ,no\or home a\ a publiG
scalp. to dutcrmine axle louds. The following proC{!(jure "'
sU~1gested, although any method recommended by the scale
opurutor which correctly determines weighl
v~lues is ac·
ceplable. During ail meusurements. it is important that the
vehicle be kept as level as possible.
1. Run only the frunt wheels Ollto the scale platform
a~d obtain a reading. (This first value is the front
axle Gross Ax!e Weight.1
2. Next, place the entira vehicle (both axlesl On the
s~ale and obtain a readinQ. (This second value is
Gross Vehicle Weight.)
3. Drive forward until only the mar axle is on thu
platform and obtain a reading. (This third readi"'1
is rear axle Gross Axle Weight.)
4. Compare r~uding 2 with the GVWR of your vehid~.
If \his reading exceeds the GVWR rating, it will be
necessary to reduce tnt"1 vehicle lo"d.
5. If reading 2 is less than the GVWR of your vehicle,
cher-k readings 1
and 3 to verify ,hat each is less
than the GAWR on the ccrtifiGation tug. I( either
cXGeeds tho GAWR for the lixle, ,ed,stribute enough

STARTING AND WARMUP
For best results, always follow the recommendation., in your
Chassis Operator's Manual when sturting or operating YOllr engine.
NOTE: Besure transmission is in "P" park and parking brake
is engaged to keep the molor home from rollln[j. If the
p",k;ng broke needs adjustment, see tha Chassis
Operator'. Manual for proper adjustment instruction,.
SAFETY BELTS
Seal bell~ ure un important sa r ~ty feature of your veil icle.
Belts shuuld be fa.tened while you,- motor home is in motion.
The driver's ,eat and all uther seats de,igned to carry passengers
while under way have been f!ql1rpped with rap belts.
NOTE:
All riders ,houlrl be furnished with und u,~"cat belts

thevellicle is in mOlion. Seots which are not
uquippoo with safety belts should not be occupied
while vehicle is in motion and will be labeled: "THIS
SEAT NOT TO BE OCCUPIED WHILE VEHICLE IS
IN MOTION."
PASSENGERS SHOULD NOT

RIDE IN THE CAB·OVER BED AREA.
S"iety belt" are adjusted in the following manner; To lengthen
the belt, tip the buckle al right angles to the b~it. Holding the
buckle in Ihis position permits Ihe bolt to slide through. Pull on
thu buckie until the dusirud leogth is obtained. To faslen lhe
belts, make sure the bults are not twisted, then push the tongu~
end of one bult into the buckle of the milting belt. Be sure il goe;
ill all the way and thal it l~tdlG". Tighten by pulling lila loose
end 01 the belt while holding the buckle. Adjusllhe bell
ilS low on the abdomen und as snug ascomfOrl will allow lur
graatest safely. Nuv~r use a belt for more th"fl one purson at
a time.
NOTE: Ir your belts have bsen eqllipped with rctmctors, be
sure belt is pulled aillhe way out of retractor.
To rele~se the bait. deprp.ss the button in the center of the buckle
and slide the
longue out of the buckle.

ON THE ROAD
DRIVING AND PARKING
Once you become accustomed to the feel 01 the control. and
the reference points from "the driver's seat, you will find driving
the motor home comparable to driving your family car. Become
familiar with the position of the motor home in traffic, and be
cautious when maneuvering to allow lor the length and width
of the vehicle. Always allow ext,a room to GOmer and to change
lanes. Learn
to use the side mirrors to view Ihe road behind.

Drive wi,h consideration on the highway, observing all appllcable

motor home will vary with road and _ather conditions. Re-
member that higher speeds may result in a sharp incroose in fuel

Driving on winding
or mountain roads is not difficult if done
with reasonable care. Observe proper vehiclu spee<.1s when
ascending of descending hills and always operate in the proper
trans'nission range. Oownshift on hills
to avoid overheating
or undue engine loads by usmg the hand control. Downshift
when descending grades. Eng)ne braking power will help
control vehicle speed, and will relieve some of the strain on
the brakes.
Allow for the extra height of your coach and avoid areaS
havin~ low overhead clearance. Check for lOW-hanging tree
branches or other obstructions whenever you drive or park.
Avoid low roofs when pulling
in for service. This may be
particularly
important if you drive with the overhead vents
open or if the coach is equipped with a roof air conditioner,
a roof rack
or CB antenna.
When parking parallel, be sure
to allow for poles or ob·
structions near the curb, as the front and rear portions of
the motor home swing wider than an automObile. When park-
ing on an incline, tum the front wheels into thl! Gurb in th()
direction of the roll to aid the parking brake. Always shift
thu transmission to PARK (PI when parking.
MISCELLANEOUS SAFETY TIPS
.When backing the motor home, have a person stand to
the rear on the driver's side, if possible, to guide you.
• Before duparting on Btrip, check your ,autos. Remember,
some tunnels prohibit mutorhomes with
LP gas systems.
• While traveling, make SUfC all occupants use their seatbelts.
·Wh"n traveling, make sure all doors are closed and that
cabinets, drawacs, and loose objects are ",",cu reo
• Instruct your family on what to do in case of lire, and
h"ld fire drills periodically.
• Keep a fire extinguisher handy. Two would be beIler--
one in front, the other toward the rear.

OVERHEATING
The engine and cooling system 011 your vehicle should be
operated Qnd serviced as recommended in your Chnssis
Opemto,', Manual.
WINDSHIELD DEfROST _ COMFORTCONTROL
During winter months, it is important to keep the wind-
shield clear and keep the passenger compartment at
a comfortablu temperature while on the roud, This can be
done by use of the proper Gombinution of healer and
defroster controls.
12-VOLT FUSE REPLACEMENT
If part of your vehicle dectrical system should fail while
on the road, check the replacement circuit fuses located
;rl the uutomotive circlli!. These aN automotive-type fuS€s
uVuilable at most service statIO[13. Refer to the ELECTRICAL
section
for information on livin\l area 12 volt fuses.
CHANGING A
TIRE
For tire chilflging instructions, see the Ch"ssis OperatOl's

motor home is ~quipped with premium grade
truck-type tires. Und~r normal circumstances and proper
tire mainlenance, you should receive thousunds of miles 01
trouble·frue service. Before allempti ~g ilny repai rs. in the
event you do have a flat tire, it should be noted that your
fully loaded motor home is very heavy. Asa result, each
whuul lug

of 480 to 500 fOOl pounds, making the lug nuts extremely

2. Turn too key to stan engine", normal manner.

charging the battery.

under the front hood. Thi, battery provides power for QII
vehicle requirements, including the radio and/or tape decl<.

Auxiliary

There is an auxiliary 12·volt battery to provide Ilving·area

To convert a swing-down dinette tablQ into a bed, proceed as

1. Reach under table alld fold leg back by releasing felJ
latch.

3. Lower table top into position to complutc b"sc for bed.
4. Slide seal and back cushion into place over bed area.
PEDESTAL DINETTE TABLES
