FMS® Remote Hand Control
DESCRIPTION
The FMS Remote Hand Control is a non-sterile reusable device that activates pump and shaver fea-
tures of the FMS VUE™ and NEXTRA™ Fluid Management and Tissue Debridement Systems.
INTENDED USE
The FMS Remote Hand Control is intended for use with the FMS VUE and NEXTRA Fluid Management
and Tissue Debridement Systems in a surgical setting by personnel trained in arthroscopy.
INDICATION FOR USE
The FMS Remote Hand Control is an accessory to the FMS VUE and NEXTRA Fluid Management and
Tissue Debridement Systems. The FMS VUE and NEXTRA systems are intended to provide controlled
uid distention and suction, controlled cutting, burring, shaving and abrading of bone and tissue for use
in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, knee, ankle, elbow, wrist and hip joints.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not use the Remote Hand Control with systems other than the FMS VUE or NEXTRA Fluid Manage-
ment and Tissue Debridement Systems.
WARNINGS
• Prior to use, check the system components for damage. Check the cable integrity carefully. If there are
signs of damage, do not use.

• Failure to follow all applicable instructions may result in serious surgical consequences to the patient.
• Do not use ammable agents when cleaning and disinfecting.
• Do not wrap Remote Hand Control cable around metal objects. Wrapping cables around metal
objects may induce currents that could lead to electric shock, re and/or injury to patient or surgical
personnel.
• This device has been tested and found in compliance with limits of medical devices according
IEC60601-1-2 standard. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection in a typical
medical installation, against harmful interference when devices are located in close proximity. If the
pump is causing harmful interference with other devices, turn the main power off, then on again to
determine if it is causing the interference, relocate the system or separate it from other devices. If you
cannot resolve the problem contact DePuy Customer Service at 1-800-382-4682. In the European
Union, contact your local affiliate.
• Disconnect the device from the pump when cleaning or inspecting.
PRECAUTIONS
• Read the instructions, cautions, and warnings provided with all FMS VUE System accessories before
use.Your sales representative can advise which accessories are used with the FMS VUE System.
• Electrical safety testing should be performed by a biomedical engineer or other qualied person.

This Remote Hand Control can be soaked and autoclaved.
DO NOT WET THE CONNECTOR.

Automated Cleaning
Clean before and after each use:
1. Place the protective cap securely onto the Remote Hand Control cable connector.
2. Carry out a rst soaking bath in a pH-neutral detergent such as CIDEXPLUS®for a minimum
of 15minutes (or an equivalent solution) and refer to cleaning agent solution manufacturer’s
instructions for immersion time and bath temperature.
3. Carry out ve (5) to-and-fro motions with a swab-type brush on all surfaces, paying particular
attention to the buttons, the screws on the back side and the seam around the sides.
4. Check for remaining debris and remove as needed.
5. Carry out a second soaking bath in a pH-neutral detergent such as CIDEXPLUS for a minimum of
15 minutes while using an ultrasound bath frequency of 50–60Hz (or an equivalent decontaminant
solution) and refer to cleaning agent solution manufacturer’s instructions for immersion time and bath
temperature.
6. Rinse with deionized water for 30 seconds.
7. Conrm that the protective cap is securely on the Remote Hand Control cable connector.
8. Clean in a validated washer disinfector using the “INSTRUMENTS” cycle and a pH neutral cleaning
agent intended for use in automated cleaning. Effective cleaning can be achieved using the following
parameters:
• Pre-wash at ambient temperature for 4 min.
• Enzyme washes with enzymatic cleaning agent for 4 min.
• Wash at 60°C with pH neutral cleaning agent for 3 min.
• Rinse with hot water for 20 seconds.
• Dry at 95°C for 5 min.
9. After automated cleaning, proceed to inspection instructions below.

Manual Cleaning

bath temperature

4. Check for remaining debris and remove as needed.
5. Carry out a second soaking bath in a pH-neutral detergent such as CIDEXPLUS for a minimum of
15 minutes while using an ultrasound bath frequency of 50–60Hz (or an equivalent decontaminant
solution) and refer to cleaning agent solution manufacturer’s instructions for immersion time and bath
temperature.
6. Rinse with deionized water for 30 seconds at ambient temperature.
7. Dry with medical air at less than 100°C or 212°F for 30 seconds.
Inspection after cleaning
1. Inspect before sterilization or storage to ensure the complete removal of soil from surfaces and holes.
2. If areas are difficult to inspect visually, check for blood by immersing or ushing in a 3% hydrogen
peroxide solution. If bubbling is observed, blood is present. Rinse thoroughly after using hydrogen
peroxide solution.
3. If soil is still present, re-clean.
STERILIZATION
• The Remote Hand Control is factory sealed and can be completely sterilized using a steam autoclave.
• Use a validated, properly maintained and calibrated steam sterilizer.
• Effective steam sterilization can be achieved using a pre-vacuum cycle of 132°C for 4 minutes.

WARNING:These guidelines do not guarantee that the device is sterile after the procedure.The
institution is responsible for sterility assurance validation.
MAINTENANCE
• Inspect all equipment and cables periodically for wear. If damage is noted, replace or return to Repair
Service Center.
• Any repairs must be performed by a qualied Biomedical Engineer.
• Clean and disinfect after every use.

USO INDICADO
El control remoto manual FMS está indicado para ser utilizado con los sistemas de gestión de líquidos
y desbridamiento de tejidos FMS VUE and NEXTRA en un ámbito quirúrgico por personal debida-
mente formado en artroscopia.
INDICACIONES DE USO
El control remoto manual FMS es un accesorio de los sistemas de gestión de líquidos y desbrida-
miento de tejidos FMS VUE y NEXTRA. Los sistemas FMS VUE y NEXTRA están indicados para
proporcionar distensión y succión de líquidos controladas, así como corte, fresado, afeitado y desgas-
tado controlados de hueso y tejido para uso en cirugía artroscópica de las articulaciones del hombro,
rodilla, codo, muñeca, tobillo y cadera.
CONTRAINDICACIONES
No utilice el control remoto manual con otros sistemas que no sean los sistemas de gestión de líquidos
y desbridamiento de tejidos FMS VUE o NEXTRA.
ADVERTENCIAS
• Antes de su uso, compruebe que los componentes del sistema no están dañados. Compruebe con
cuidado la integridad del cable. No lo utilice en caso de observar señales de daño.
• Si no se siguen debidamente todas las instrucciones correspondientes, pueden producirse graves
consecuencias quirúrgicas para el paciente.
• No utilice agentes inamables para la limpieza y desinfección.
• No cubra objetos metálicos con el cable del control remoto manual. Si lo hace, podría inducir
corrientes y provocar descargas eléctricas, fuego y/o lesiones tanto al paciente como al personal
quirúrgico.
• Este dispositivo se ha sometido a pruebas y se ha comprobado que cumple con los límites para
productos sanitarios establecidos por la norma IEC 60601-1-2. Estos límites están diseñados para
proporcionar una protección razonable contra interferencias nocivas en una instalación médica típica
cuando los dispositivos se encuentran muy próximos. Si la bomba produce interferencias nocivas en
otros dispositivos, apague la alimentación y, a continuación, vuelva a encenderla para determinar si

es la causa de las interferencias, cambie de lugar el sistema o sepárelo de los demás dispositivos.

LIMPIEZA Y DESINFECCIÓN
Este control remoto manual puede remojarse y esterilizarse en autoclave.
NO MOJE EL CONECTOR.
Limpieza automática
Limpiar antes y después de cada uso:
1. Fije bien la tapa protectora sobre el conector del cable del control remoto manual.
2. Realice un primer baño de remojo en un detergente de pH neutro, como CIDEXPLUS®, durante
15minutos como mínimo (o una solución equivalente) y reérase a las instrucciones del fabricante
de la solución de limpieza para determinar el tiempo de inmersión y la temperatura del baño.
3. Realice cinco (5) movimientos hacia adelante y hacia atrás con un cepillo tipo torunda sobre todas
las supercies, prestando particular atención a los botones, los tornillos del lado de atrás y la unión
en torno a los laterales.

4. Compruebe que no quedan residuos y elimine los que encuentre.
5. Realice un segundo baño de remojo en un detergente de pH neutro, como CIDEXPLUS, durante
15minutos como mínimo usando una frecuencia de baño de ultrasonido de 50–60 Hz (o una
solución descontaminante equivalente) y reérase a las instrucciones del fabricante de la solución
de limpieza para determinar el tiempo de inmersión y la temperatura del baño.
6. Aclare con agua desionizada durante 30 segundos.
7. Compruebe que la tapa protectora está bien jada sobre el conector del cable del control remoto
manual.
8. Limpie utilizando el ciclo “INSTRUMENTOS” de un dispositivo de lavado desinfectante homologado
y un agente limpiador con pH neutro para uso en limpieza automática. Para conseguir una limpieza
ecaz, utilice los siguientes parámetros:
• Lave previamente a temperatura ambiente durante 4 min.
• Lavados enzimáticos con un agente de limpieza enzimático durante 4 min.
• Lave a 60 °C con un agente de limpieza de pH neutro durante 3 min.
• Aclare con agua caliente durante 20 segundos.
• Seque a 95 °C durante 5 min.
9. Después de la limpieza automática, siga las instrucciones de inspección a continuación.
Limpieza manual
Limpiar antes y después de cada uso:
1. Fije bien la tapa protectora sobre el conector del cable del control remoto manual.
2. Realice un primer baño de remojo en un detergente de pH neutro, como CIDEXPLUS, durante
15 minutos (o una solución descontaminante equivalente) y reérase a las instrucciones del

Inspección después de la limpieza
1. Inspeccione todos los instrumentos antes de su esterilización y almacenamiento para asegurarse de
que la suciedad se ha eliminado por completo de supercies y oricios.
2. Si algunas zonas son difíciles de inspeccionar visualmente, compruebe si quedan restos de sangre
sumergiendo o mojando el instrumento en una solución con un 3 % de peróxido de hidrógeno. Si se
aprecia un burbujeo, signica que aún quedan restos de sangre.Aclare a fondo después de utilizar
la solución de peróxido de hidrógeno.
3. Si aún queda suciedad, vuelva a limpiar el instrumento.
ESTERILIZACIÓN
• El control remoto manual viene sellado de fábrica y puede esterilizarse completamente en autoclave.
• Utilice un esterilizador de vapor homologado, con un mantenimiento y calibrado adecuados.
• Para conseguir una esterilización de vapor ecaz utilice un ciclo de vacío previo de 132 °C durante
4minutos.
ADVERTENCIA: estas recomendaciones no garantizan que el dispositivo sea estéril después
del procedimiento. La institución es responsable de la validación de la esterilidad.
MANTENIMIENTO
• Inspeccione todo el equipo y los cables periódicamente para comprobar que no están gastados. En
caso de observar daños, vuelva a colocar el equipo en el embalaje y envíelo de vuelta al Centro de
reparación.
• Todas las reparaciones deben ser realizadas por un ingeniero biomédico cualicado.
• Limpiar y desinfectar después de cada uso.

INDICAZIONI D’USO
Il telecomando FMS è un accessorio per i sistemi di gestione dei uidi e sbrigliamento dei tessuti
FMSVUE e NEXTRA. I sistemi FMS VUE e NEXTRA hanno lo scopo di fornire controllo su distensione

e aspirazione dei uidi, controllo sull’incisione, fresatura, shaving (pulizia) e abrasione di osso e tessuto
per l’uso nella chirurgia artroscopica a carico delle articolazioni di spalla, ginocchio, caviglia, gomito,
polso e anca.
CONTROINDICAZIONI
Non usare il telecomando con sistemi che non siano i sistemi di gestione dei uidi e sbrigliamento dei
tessuti FMS VUE o NEXTRA.
AVVERTENZE
• Prima dell’uso, vericare la presenza di danni nei componenti del sistema. Vericare attentamente
l’integrità dei cavi. Se vi sono segni di danni, non usare.
• La mancata osservanza delle istruzioni applicabili può causare gravi conseguenze chirurgiche
alpaziente.
• Non utilizzare agenti inammabili per la pulizia e la disinfezione.
• Non avvolgere il cavo del telecomando attorno a oggetti metallici. L’avvolgimento di cavi attorno a
oggetti metallici può indurre correnti con conseguenti rischi di scosse elettriche, incendio e/o lesioni
per il paziente o il personale chirurgico.
• Questo dispositivo è stato testato e trovato conforme ai limiti per dispositivi medicali in base alla
norma IEC 60601-1-2. Tali limiti sono stati progettati per fornire una protezione ragionevole in
una tipica installazione medica, contro interferenze dannose quando vi sono altri dispositivi nelle
immediate vicinanze. Se la pompa causa interferenze dannose ad altri dispositivi, spegnerla e
riaccenderla per determinare se è la causa dell’interferenza, spostare il sistema o allontanarlo da altri
dispositivi. Se non si riesce a risolvere il problema, contattare il servizio assistenza clienti DePuy al

• Scollegare il dispositivo dalla pompa durante gli interventi di pulizia o ispezione.

PULIZIA E DISINFEZIONE
Questo telecomando può essere immerso e sterilizzato in autoclave.
NON BAGNARE IL CONNETTORE.
Pulizia automatica
Pulire prima e dopo ogni utilizzo.
1. Posizionare il cappuccio di protezione sul connettore del cavo del telecomando.
2. Eseguire una prima immersione in una soluzione detergente a pH neutro come CIDEXPLUS®per un
minimo di 15 minuti (o una soluzione equivalente) e fare riferimento alle istruzioni del produttore della
soluzione detergente per i tempi di immersione e la temperatura del bagno.
3. Con uno scovolino passare 5 volte avanti e indietro su tutte le superci, facendo molta attenzione ai
pulsanti, alle viti sul retro e alle giunzioni sui bordi.
4. Vericare l’assenza di detriti e, se necessario, rimuoverli.
5. Eseguire una seconda immersione in una soluzione detergente a pH neutro come CIDEXPLUS
per almeno 15 minuti utilizzando una frequenza di bagno ad ultrasuoni pari a 50–60 Hz (o una
soluzione decontaminante equivalente) e fare riferimento alle istruzioni del produttore della soluzione
detergente per i tempi di immersione e la temperatura del bagno.
6. Sciacquare con acqua deionizzata per 30 secondi.
7. Vericare la presenza del cappuccio di protezione sul connettore del cavo del telecomando.

8. Pulire in un apparecchio di disinfezione/lavaggio automatico validato usando il ciclo “STRUMENTI”
ed un detergente a pH neutro specico. È possibile ottenere una pulizia efficace facendo uso dei
seguenti parametri:
• Prelavare a temperatura ambiente per 4 min.
• L’enzima si lava con il detergente enzimatico per 4 min.
• Lavare a 60 °C con detergente a pH neutro per 3 min.
• Sciacquare con acqua calda per 20 secondi.
• Asciugare a 95 °C per 5 min.
9. Dopo la pulizia automatica, procedere all’ispezione come da istruzioni riportate più avanti.
Pulizia manuale
Pulire prima e dopo ogni utilizzo.
1. Posizionare il cappuccio di protezione sul connettore del cavo del telecomando.
2. Prima di tutto immergere in un detergente a pH neutro come CIDEXPLUS per 15 minuti (o una
soluzione decontaminante equivalente) consultando i relativi tempi di immersione e temperatura
diimmersione:

attenzione ai pulsanti, alle viti sul retro e alle giunzioni sui bordi.
4. Vericare l’assenza di detriti e, se necessario, rimuoverli.
5. Eseguire una seconda immersione in una soluzione detergente a pH neutro come CIDEXPLUS
per almeno 15 minuti utilizzando una frequenza di bagno ad ultrasuoni pari a 50–60 Hz (o una
soluzione decontaminante equivalente) e fare riferimento alle istruzioni del produttore della soluzione
detergente per i tempi di immersione e la temperatura del bagno.
6. Sciacquare con acqua deionizzata per 30 secondi a temperatura ambiente.
7. Asciugare con aria medicale a meno di 100 °C per 30 secondi.
Ispezione dopo la pulizia
1. Ispezionare prima della sterilizzazione o dell’immagazzinamento per garantire la rimozione completa
dello sporco da tutte le superci e dai fori.

2. Se è difficile ispezionare visivamente le aree, controllare la presenza di sangue immergendo o
sciacquando in una soluzione al 3% di perossido di idrogeno. Se si osservano delle bolle, è presente
del sangue. Sciacquare accuratamente dopo aver usato la soluzione di perossido di idrogeno.
3. Se lo sporco è ancora presente, ripetere la pulizia.
STERILIZZAZIONE
• Il telecomando è sigillato in fabbrica e può essere completamente sterilizzato in autoclave a vapore.
• Usare uno sterilizzatore a vapore convalidato, sottoposto a manutenzione adeguata e calibrato.
• Un’effettiva sterilizzazione a vapore è ottenibile con un ciclo di pre-vuoto a 132 °C per 4 minuti.
AVVERTENZA: queste linee guida non garantiscono la sterilità del dispositivo al termine della
procedura. La garanzia di sterilità deve essere fornita dall’istituto.
MANUTENZIONE
• Controllare periodicamente lo stato di tutte le apparecchiature e dei cavi. Qualora si notassero danni,
sostituire e restituire al centro assistenza.
• Qualunque riparazione deve essere eseguita da esperti di ingegneria biomedica.
• Pulire e disinfettare prima e dopo ogni utilizzo.

VERWENDUNGSZWECK
Die FMS-Fernhandsteuerung ist für die Verwendung mit den Systemen FMS VUE und NEXTRA
für Flüssigkeitsmanagement und Gewebedebridement in einer chirurgischen Umgebung durch mit
Arthroskopien vertrautes Personal vorgesehen.
ANWENDUNGSBEREICHE
Die FMS-Fernhandsteuerung ist ein Zubehörteil für FMS VUE- und NEXTRA-Flüssigkeitsmanagement-
und Gewebedebridementsysteme. Die FMS VUE- und NEXTRA-Systeme bieten Funktionen wie kont-
rollierte Flüssigkeitsdistention und -absaugung sowie kontrolliertes Schneiden, Bohren, Rasieren und
Ausschaben von Knochen und Gewebe im Rahmen der arthroskopischen Chirurgie an Schulter-, Knie-,
Ellenbogen-, Hand-, Fuß- und Hüftgelenken.
GEGENANZEIGEN
Die FMS-Fernhandsteuerung darf nur mit FMS VUE- und NEXTRA-Flüssigkeitsmanagement- und
Gewebedebridementsystemen verwendet werden.
WARNHINWEISE
• Vor Benutzung die Systemkomponenten auf Schäden untersuchen. Kabel sorgfältig auf

• Die unvollständige Beachtung der Hinweise kann zu ernsthaften chirurgischen Komplikationen für
den Patienten führen.
• Keine leicht entzündlichen Reinigungsmittel zum Reinigen und Desinzieren verwenden.
• Das Kabel der Fernhandsteuerung nicht um Metallgegenstände wickeln. Dadurch können elektrische
Ströme entstehen, die Stromschlag, Feuer und/oder Verletzungen bei Patienten bzw. dem
chirurgischen Personal verursachen können.
• Diese Vorrichtung wurde geprüft und ihre Erfüllung der für Medizinprodukte geltenden Grenzwerte
nach Norm IEC60601-1-2 festgestellt. Diese Grenzwerte stellen in typischen medizinischen
Einrichtungen angemessenen Schutz gegen schädliche Interferenzen dar, wenn mehrere
Vorrichtungen nah beieinander aufgestellt sind. Bestehen schädliche Interferenzen zwischen
verschiedenen Vorrichtungen, lässt sich durch Unterbrechen der Hauptstromversorgung und erneutes
Einschalten bestimmen, ob die Pumpe die Interferenz verursacht. Ist dies der Fall, muss die Pumpe
an einem anderen Ort aufgestellt oder von den anderen Vorrichtungen getrennt werden. Wenden

REINIGUNG UND DESINFEKTION
Diese Fernhandsteuerung ist feuchtigkeitsunempndlich und autoklavierbar.
ANSCHLUSS NICHT BEFEUCHTEN.
Automatisierte Reinigung
Vor und nach jedem Gebrauch reinigen:
1. Schutzkappe fest auf den Kabelanschluss der Fernhandsteuerung setzen.
2. Legen Sie die Instrumente zum ersten Mal mindestens 15 Minuten lang in eine pH-neutrale
Reinigung wie CIDEXPLUS®(oder in eine äquivalente Dekontaminationslösung) und entnehmen Sie
die Einwirkzeit und Temperatur für die Lösung der Anleitung des Herstellers der Reinigungslösung.
3. Mit geeigneter Bürste jede Oberäche fünfmal (5) vor und zurück abwischen, dabei besonders auf
die Tasten, die Schrauben auf der Rückseite und die Naht an den Seiten achten.
4. Auf Rückstände prüfen und diese ggf. entfernen.
5. Legen Sie die Instrumente ein zweites Mal mindestens 15 Minuten lang in eine pH-neutrale
Reinigungslösung wie CIDEXPLUS (oder eine äquivalente Dekontaminationslösung), und
verwenden Sie eine Ultraschallfrequenz von 50–60Hz. Entnehmen Sie die Einwirkzeit und
Temperatur der Lösung der Anleitung des Herstellers der Reinigungslösung.
6. 30 Sekunden mit deionisiertem Wasser abspülen.
7. Sicherstellen, dass die Schutzkappe fest auf dem Kabelanschluss der Fernhandsteuerung sitzt.
8. Anschließend in einer dafür geeigneten Spül-/Desinfektionsmaschine reinigen, und zwar unter
Verwendung der den Instrumenten entsprechenden Einstellung und eines für die automatische
Reinigung geeigneten, pH-neutralen Reinigungsmittels. Folgende Schritte sorgen für eine effektive
automatische Reinigung:
• 4-minütige Vorwäsche bei Raumtemperatur.
• 4-minütige Spülung mit enzymatischem Reinigungsmittel.
• 3-minütige Reinigung bei 60°C mit pH-neutralem Reinigungsmittel.
• 20 Sekunden mit heißem Wasser abspülen.
• 5-minütiges Trocknen bei 95°C.

9. Fahren Sie im Anschluss an die automatische Reinigung mit der Überprüfung fort. Anleitung siehe
unten.
Manuelle Reinigung
Vor und nach jedem Gebrauch reinigen:
1. Schutzkappe fest auf den Kabelanschluss der Fernhandsteuerung setzen.
2. Zunächst für 15 Minuten vollständig in einem pH-neutralen Reinigungsmittel wie CIDEXPLUS (oder
in einer äquivalenten Dekontaminationslösung) unter Einhaltung der empfohlenen Einwirkdauer und
Temperatur einlegen:

6. 30 Sekunden mit deionisiertem Wasser (Raumtemperatur) abspülen.
7. Mit medizinischer Druckluft bei weniger als 100°C für 30 Sekunden trocknen.
Überprüfung nach der Reinigung
1. Vor Sterilisation oder Lagerung überprüfen, ob sämtliche Oberächen und Öffnungen sauber sind.
2. Falls die Sauberkeit einzelner Bereiche visuell schlecht überprüft werden kann, sollte das
Instrument in eine 3 %ige Wasserstoffperoxidlösung eingetaucht werden, um nach Anzeichen
von Blut zu suchen. Falls Blasen auftreten, ist noch Blut vorhanden. Nach Verwendung von
Wasserstoffperoxidlösung gründlich spülen.
3. Reinigung wiederholen, wenn Verschmutzungsreste gefunden werden.
STERILISATION
• Die Fernhandsteuerung ist werkseitig versiegelt und kann in einem Dampfsterilisator
sterilisiertwerden.

• Einen geprüften, ordnungsgemäß instand gehaltenen und kalibirierten Dampfsterilisator verwenden.
• Eine wirksame Dampfsterilisation kann durch die Verwendung eines Vorvakuumzyklus von 132°C für
4 Minuten erreicht werden.
WARNHINWEIS: Diese Richtlinien garantieren keine Sterilität des Geräts nach Abschluss der
Prozedur. Die jeweilige Institution ist dafür verantwortlich, die Sterilität zu überprüfen.
INSTANDHALTUNG
• Alle Komponenten und Kabel regelmäßig auf Verschleiß prüfen. Werden Schäden festgestellt, ist das
Gerät zu ersetzen oder einem Reparaturzentrum zu übergeben.
• Alle Reparaturen sind von einem biomedizinischen Techniker durchzuführen.
• Nach jedem Gebrauch desinzieren und reinigen.
