SECURITY AND THE ENVIRONMENT
ELECTR CAL SECUR TY
Check that the current in the mains connection where the machine is to be installed corresponds to the
power supply of the machine.
To avoid damaging the equipment, electrical shocks, fire or physical injury when you connect or disconnect
the equipment from the power supply, pull the plug firmly out of the mains socket holding the plug, never the
cable.
Always do this with dry hands.
Keep the power supply cable far from sources of heat. Do not put heavy objects on top of it or change it.
Clean dust and dirt off the power supply cable regularly.
Do not open the machine; you could get an electric shock.
CAUT ON
While installing the machine, make sure it is switched off and unplugged.
Do not open the machine. Touching the internal parts is dangerous and you could receive an electric shock.
The machine must not be splashed or dripped on. Never place recipients with liquid inside on the machine.
Do not place anything inside the machine.
LOCAT ON
Place the equipment on a horizontal surface with enough space around it to allow ventilation.
Avoid direct sunlight, heat sources and excessive dust.
Do not place the machine near magnetic fields or static electricity.
Do not use surfaces which vibrate or receive impact.
Do not pile machines on top of one another.
VENT LAT ON
Never block or cover the ventilation slits on the machine.
Do not expose it to direct sunlight or place it near sources of heat.
PER ODS OF NACT V TY
When the machine is not going to be used for a long period of time, disconnect it from the mains.
f you are using an adapter, take into account that it will continue using electricity even if the machine is
switched off. f it is not going to be used for a long period of time, disconnect it from the mains.
THE ENV RONMENT
To save energy, switch the machine off when you are not going to use it for a long time. The machine could
contain substances that are harmful to the environment or human health. To minimize the effect of these
substances the machine must be correctly managed and recycled when you decide to dispose of it.
When you dispose of it remember: it cannot be thrown into a conventional rubbish bin.
f it contains or uses batteries, these must be disposed of separately.
The machine (without batteries) must be disposed of correctly. Put it in a container specially intended for the
collection of electronic and electrical appliances, at the dump or hand it over to the dealer when you purchase
similar equipment, so that the dealer can dispose of it correctly (at no added cost).

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE SYMBOLS ON THE MACHINE*
The symbol formed by the expression “Class 1 laser product” written in a rectangle
indicates that visible or invisible laser radiation could be produced. Avoid direct expose to
the laser.
The symbol formed by a ray of lightening inside a triangle shows that the machine has
connection terminals or a circuit with areas with a current which could cause an electric
shock, even in normal working conditions.
The symbol formed by an exclamation mark in a triangle shows that the instruction manual
must be referred to for information on how the machine works and its use.
The symbol formed by one square inside another square shows that the machine has
double electrical insulation.
The European Community symbol shows that the machine complies with the current
European Union legislation, as well as its transposition to local legislation.
The symbol of a rubbish bin crossed out and over a horizontal line shows that when the
product is disposed of it must be done properly, placing it in a special selective electronic
and electrical equipment container or through a dealer when purchasing a similar product,
at no additional cost. t also shows that the machine was put on the market after 13th
August 2005 (European Community Directive 2002/96/CE of Electrical and Electronic
recycling, and its Spanish equivalent R.D.208/2005).
n accordance with what is set out in the aforementioned decree, FONESTAR is registered
in the RAEE (Registro de Aparatos Eléctricos y Electrónicos) in a special section RE
(Registro de establecimientos ndustriales), with the entry number 001851.

DESCRIPTION
The SM-1621U model is a professional stereo mixer with 6 inputs, 3 channels and 2 outputs with independent
volume controls for DJ use. t has an MP3 player with LCD display that shows D3 information in MP3 files,
with USB port for USB drive connection and SD card reader.
Cueing is possible through the headphones and it has a replaceable crossfader with direct allocation of
channels 2 and 3, adjustable curve and a reverse function for the sliding controls. 3-band equalizer per
channel with up to -32 dB attenuation, LED level indicator and balance in the MASTER output.
t is a mixer that is suitable for use in nightclubs, discos, restaurants, commercial installations, etc., that
require several inputs, independent equalization per channel and MP3 file playback through the USB or SD port.
CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS
FRONT PANEL
1.- MIC INPUT: balanced microphone input, combo connector (XLR and 6.3 mm stereo jack).
2.- GAIN: gain control for the corresponding channel input.
3.- HIGH-MID-LOW: tone controls. Equalizers that control the bass, mid and treble level in the
corresponding channel.
4.- MIC., LINE 1/PHONE 1: input selector that allows selection among M C NPUT, L NE 1 and PHONE 1
as the input source for channel 1.
PHONO 2/LINE 2/MP3: input selector that allows selection among PHONE 2, L NE 2 and the
USB/SD/MP3 player as the input source for channel 2.
PHONO 3/LINE 3: input selector that allows selection between PHONO 3 and L NE 3 as the input source
for channel 3.

5.- Sliding volume control for the level of the corresponding channel.
6.- TALKOVER: button for activating/deactivating the talk over function in channel 1. This function weakens
the signal in the rest of the channels in the general mix. When activated the LED indicator lights up.
7.- REVERSE: allows the crossfader variation curve to be inverted.
8.- CURVE: allows the crossfader response curve to be selected.
9.- CROSSFADER: control which allows the balance to be made between 2 channels CH 2 and CH 3.
Note: this control is replaceable and can be unscrewed from the top.
10.- PHONES: headphone output, 6.3 mm stereo jack connector.
11.- CUE/MASTER: allows the monitored signal in the headphone output to be selected from between 2
positions:
CUE (turning the control to the left): allows the pre-fader mix from the CH1 to CH 3 input channels to
be monitored (with the cue button activated).
MASTER (turning the control to the right): allows the master output signal to be monitored. At mid-point
two signals are heard with the same intensity.
12.- CHANNEL SELECT: button to activate/deactivate the channel cue through the headphones on the
corresponding channel. When activated, the corresponding LED indicator lights up.
13.- CUE: headphone output volume control knob.
14.- BOOTH: BOOTH output volume control knob.
15.- BALANCE: control knob that allows adjustment of the stereo channel balance in the final mix in the
MASTER output.
16.- MASTER: MASTER output level control knob.
17.- LED level indicators: show the stereo channel level from the MASTER output.
18.- POWER: LED power indicator.
19.- USB/SD/MP3 player controls:
PLAY/PAUSE: start or pause playback.
STOP: stop current playback.
REPEAT: this button allows the different playback modeds to be varied: ONE/RANDOM/ALL, the default
repetition mode is ALL.
REVERSE: a short press returns to the start of the track currently being played. Press this button
repeatedly to select a previous track. A long press lowers the volume in USB/SD/MP3 mode.
FORWARD: a short press forwards to the start of the next track. Press this button repeatedly to select
one of the following tracks. A long press raises the volume in USB/SD/MP3 mode.
20.- USB: USB drive and USB hard disc connection port.
21.- SD: SD memory card connection port.

REAR PANEL
1.- POWER: device on/off switch.
2.- AC socket: for connection of the AC power supply cable.
3.- MASTER L/R: balanced output of the corresponding MASTER line level to the final mix, 2 x XLR
connectors.
4.- MASTER: unbalanced output of the corresponding MASTER line level to the final mix, 2 x RCA
connectors.
5.- BOOTH: BOOTH line level unbalanced output. t is a copy of the final mix for monitoring, 2 x RCA
connectors.
6.- TAPE: line level recording output, affected by the channel volume controls and the crossfader and is
independent from the MASTER and BOOTH volume controls, 2 x RCA connectors.
7.- LINE 3: line level stereo input for channel CH 3. Allows the connection of players with line level output,
2 x RCA connectors.
8.- PHONO 3: phono level stereo input for channel CH 3. Allows the connection of turntables with phono
level output, 2 x RCA connectors.
9.- LINE 2: line level stereo input for channel CH 2. Allows the connection of players with line level output,
2 x RCA connectors.
10.- PHONO 2: phono level stereo input for channel CH 2. Allows the connection of turntables with phono
level output, 2 x RCA connectors.
11.- INPUT 1: phono or selectable line level stereo input for channel CH 1. Allows the connection of players
with phono or line level output, 2 x RCA connectors.
12.- LINE 1/PHONO 1: NPUT 1 level selector.
13.- GND: mixer mass for connection to the turntable mass.

CONNECTION
- Before making any connections, make sure that all the equipment has been switched off and
disconnected from the power supply.
- Check that all the sliding volume controls for each channel and that the MASTER output level controls
are at their minimum.
- Connect the players to the channel CH1 to CH3 inputs.
- Connect players with line level output (such as CD players) to the L NE inputs and place the input level
selector in the L NE position.
- Connect a turntable to the PHONO inputs on the rear panel and move the input level selector to the
PHONO position. f your turntable has an earth connection, connect it to the GND terminal on the rear
panel.
- Connect a microphone to the M C NPUT on the front panel using a 6.3 mm stereo jack connector or
XLR.
- Connect a USB device with FAT32 format or SD memory card with MP3 files to the corresponding port
on the MP3 player of CH2.
- Connect the balanced or unbalanced MASTER output to a line level input on the amplifier. f you wish,
the BOOTH output can be connected to monitored autoamplified speakers.
- Connect the equipment to the power supply.
- Switch the equipment on in this order: players, SM-1621U mixer and lastly the amplifier.
- Adjust the input level of each channel with the GA N control and mix using the volume controls for each
channel.

WARRANTY
This product has been tested and has passed the corresponding quality control prior to being put on the market.
FONESTAR guarantees the suitability of the product for its specified use during a period of 2 years from the
delivery date and commits itself to repair or substitute the goods as expressed in the Spanish law ‘La Ley General
para la Defensa de los Consumidores y Usuarios, Real Decreto Legislativo 1/2007 16 Noviembre.
The lack of conformity in the first six months after purchase, due to a manufacturing defect, will be rectified with
no more than showing the proof of purchase. After six months FONESTAR reserves the right to demand proof of
the product being sold with that problem.
This warranty does not include damage produced by: inappropriate use or negligence, accidents, worn out parts
due to use, breakages, burns, spilt liquids or other substances, excessive humidity, battery deterioration and
internal manipulation of the device, the software or its components by unauthorized persons, and in general any
use that is unrelated to the nature and purpose of the product.
f any service is needed during the warranty period because of lack of conformity, please contact the business or
distributor where the product was purchased in no more than 2 months after being conscious of the problem. t
is only necessary to contact FONESTAR if it is impossible or imposes an undue burden for them to solve it.
To benefit from this warranty it is necessary to show the proof of purchase with the date clearly visible, with no
corrections or crossing out.
This document adds information, and never decreases the consumers’ rights, which in all cases are protected by
the Spanish law ‘La Ley General para la Defensa de los Consumidores y Usuarios, Real Decreto Legislativo 1/2007
16 Noviembre’.
