Electromagnetic Joggers, Models FD 400P1, FD 400P2, FD 400E2 & FD 400E4, are
used for jogging and packing of materials. A magnet assembly produces a vibrating action, which is
transmitted to the deck or rack through a system of leaf springs.
The control assembly consists of an ON/OFF switch, a rheostat to control the amplitude of vibration
and a rectifi er to convert AC to DC.
Refer to the service instructions prior to installing, adjusting, or performing maintenance on this
Failure to follow these instructions could result in unsatisfactory jogger performance,
damage or shortened service life, or personal injury.
Inspect the jogger for damage which may have occurred during shipment. If any damage is found, im-

The FD 400P1, FD 400P2 & FD 400E2 joggers weigh approximately 25 pounds and the FD 400E4
jogger weighs approximately 90 pounds, lift the jogger by the base only. The voltage and frequency
of the power supply must be as specifi ed on the nameplate. The power supply of another rating may
cause damage to the unit.
To prevent possible damage, lift the jogger by the base only. Lifting by the bin or top cover
Locate the jogger on a solid support. The support must not vibrate while the jogger is operating. The
bin or top cover must not be in contact with any rigid object or adjacent surface; it must be free to
Place the jogger in its operating location and plug it into a self-governing electrical receptacle. The
power supply voltage and frequency must be as specifi ed on the nameplate.
Place paper, envelopes or checks in the jogger bin(s) and press the orange power button. The vibra-
tory amplitude of the unit is changed by turning the rheostat dial located on the control panel. For
best results documents should be jogged for at least 15 to 30 seconds.
For maximum effi ciency, Formax recommends a maximum load of 10 pounds for the Models FD
400P1, FD 400P2, FD 400E2 & a maximum of 50 pounds for the Model FD 400E4.
