 permitsandlawsregardingyourfenceproject.

 Ifapplicable,alsocontactyourHomeOwnersAssociaon

 forrulesandregulaonsregardingfenceinstallaonsin

 yourneighborhood.

 Call811beforeyoudigpostholestolocateandidenfy

 anyburiedulies.

• WhencungFortressFencing,itisveryimportantto

complete the following at cut points:

 • Removeallmetalshavingsfromthecutarea.

 • Fileanysharpedgeslebycung.Thoroughlywipeand

 removeanylings,grime,ordirt.

 • ApplytwocoatsofFortresszincbasedtouch-uppaintto

 thecutarea.Iftouchupisatrailends,allowpainttodry

 beforeconnecngbrackettopost.

 • Besuretoremoveanymetalshavingsfromthesurfaceof

 Fence.

 • Alwaysusethelowestspeedsengondrill.

 • Toreducechanceofbitbreakage,startghteningwithdrill

 onlowtorquesengandworkupunlscrewissecured.

THROUGH BOLT SLIDE LATCH INSTALLATION

Step 1: Assemble Handle to Slide Latch

 1. AssembleTheSlideLatchHandletoSlideLatchwith

  supplied10mmBoltandFlatWasher.AsshowninFig.1. 

 Useofathreadlockerisrecommended.

Step 2: MarkBoltHoleLocaonsonGateUprights

 1. DeterminethedesiredplacementoftheThroughBoltSlide

 Latchonthegate uprights.

 2. PosiontheSlideLatchAssemblyontothegate upright

 thenuseC-Clampstotemporarilyholdthelatchinplace. 

 AsshowninFig.2.

 3. PosiontheSingleSwingReceiverontotheoppositegate

upright or post.UseaSpeedSquaretoalignthetopfaces 

 ofthereceiverandlatch.Thiswillallowtheslidelatchto 

 beeasilyinsertedandremovedintothereceiver.

 4. UseaC-Clamptotemporarilyholdthereceiverinplace.As

 showninFig.3.

 5. Only 2 bolts are required for each latchandreceiver.

Determine the appropriate bolt holes required for your

  installaonbasedonyourgateuprightsize. As shown in

 Fig.4.

 6. Usingapencil,markthedesiredboltholelocaonsonto 

 bothgateuprights.AsshowninFig.5.

 7. RemovetheC-Clamps,SpeedSquare,SlideLatchassembly

 andSingleSwingReceiver.

Step 3: Pre-drill Bolt Holes on Gate Uprights

 1. UseaSpringPunchtomarkthecenteroftheboltholes.

 2. Usinga7/16”[11mm]DrillBit,drillcompletelythrough 

 bothgateuprightsalongtheboltholemarks(4places).As

 showninFig.6.

 3. Removeallmetalshavingsfromgateuprightsbeforethe

SlideLatchAssemblyandSingleSwingReceiverare

 screwedontothegateuprightstopreventcorrosion.

 4. Usingapieceofcardboardasamask.Applythe2coatsof

  FortressZincBasedTouch-UpPaint.AsshowninFig.7. 

Allowtodrybeforeapplyingsecondcoat.

Step 4: Mount Slide Latch Assembly & Single Swing Receiver onto

Gate Uprights

 1. PosiontheSlideLatchAssemblyandSingleSwing

  Receiverongateuprightsoverthepre-drilledboltholes.

 2. Conrmholelocaonsarecorrectandalignwithbolthole

 onthelatchandreceiver.Adjustifrequired.

 3. Insertboltsandwashersthroughboltholes,thenfasten 

 nutsusinga9/16”[14mm]WrenchorSocket.Asshownin

 Fig.8&9.

 4. Ifrequired,cutexposedboltendsushwithoutsideface 

 ofnutsusingahacksaw.AsshowninFig.10.

 5. Fileanysharpedges.

 6. Apply2coatsofFortressZincBasedTouch-UpPainttocut

 boltends.AsshowninFig.11.Allow to dry before applying

 secondcoat.

Care And Maintenance Of Fortress Building Products

Powder-Coated Products And Surfaces:

• ImmediatelyaerinstallaonofyourFortressBuilding

Products,cleanpowder-coatedproductsandsurfaceswith

asoluonofwarmwaterandnon-abrasive,pHneutral

detergentsoluon.Surfacesshouldbethoroughlyrinsedaer

cleaningtoremoveallresidues.Allsurfacesshouldbecleaned

usingasoclothorsponge.

• Ensureconstruconmaterialssuchasconcrete,plaster,and

paintsplashesareremovedimmediatelybeforetheyhavea

chancetodry.Failuretoremovethesematerialsmaycause

damagetothepowder-coatedsurfaces.

• Thefrequencyofcleaningdependsinpartonthestandard

o f  a p p e a r a n c e  a n d  a l s o  t h e  r e q u i r e m e n t s  t o  r e m o v e  d e p o s i t s 
