Lubricating

TheFRAMERMitreGuillotineisdesignedtogiveyoua reliableandsafe
meansofproducingaccuratemitringwithaverygoodsurfacefinish.
Themajorpartsofthemachine,whichcanbesubjecttoweararemadeofCast
Ironandthebaseorfloorstand isfabricatedfrom heavydutysheetmetal.
Ageneralviewoftheguillotineisshowninfig

Thefabricated baseisdesignedtogiverigiditytothemachineandthisis
achievedbothbythedesignofthebaseandalsoit'sweight.
Onthetopofthebaseisthemaintablewhichismadefrom castiron.

arethefences.
Themeasuringtablewiththemeasuringsystemfitstotherighthandsideofthe

care when cleaning around the Mitring Head as the Mitring
Blades are
extremely

The
mitring

Head.
The
Mitring
Headmoves
vertically
againsttheBackslideto
which
itisattached
by
the
Vertical
Mitre
Guides.
Attached
totheunderside
of
the
Mitring
Head,isa connectingrod,theotherend
of
which
isattachedtothefootpedal.
Two
springs,anchoredtothe
base
andattachedtothefootpedal,
hold
theBlade
Holder
inthetoppositionsothatwhenthepedalis
pressed
downwards,the
Mitring
Bladestraveldownwardstomitrethemoulding andwhenthepedalis
released,
the
Mitring
Bladesreturntotheirtopposition.

mitring
headinthe
required
position
whilst
mitring
andtheyareevenly
spaced
outexceptforthelast
one
which
is
spaced
soastogivea

'finishing'

RebateSupports
Mostmouldingsneedtobesupportedunderneaththerebatesoastopreventdamageto
thethinrebateedgeduringmitring.
Thisdamagenormallytakestheformofsplinteringortearingofthewoodorplastic.
Topreventthisdamage,a pairofRebateSupportsarefitted toyourguillotine.
Thesesupportshaveverticaladjustmentsothattheycanbesettotherequiredheightof
themouldingrebateandtheyaredesignedtoslidealongtheslotinthebottomknife
guidestocopewithdifferentmouldingwidths

ThesettingofthefencesinrelationtotheMitringHeaddetermineswhatanglethe
mouldingwillbemitredat.
Normally,anangleof45degreesisusedwhichwillproducethe,mostcommon,4 sided
framewitheachanglebeingat90degrees.
Howeveryoumayrequiretoproduce6 or8 sidedframeswhichwillrequirea different
anglesettingbetweenthefencesandtheMitringHead.
Thefencesarethereforefitted tothemaintablesothattheycanpivotabouta central
pointandcanbeclampedatanyanglefrom 45to90degrees.

Arebatewidthmeasuringruleissetintothemeasuringtable.
Themouldingtobemitredisset againstthisruleandthewidthisnoted.
ThiswidthisthentransferredtotheVernierRuleontheStopBarandtheStopisthen
offsetfrom therequiredinsidedimensiononthemeasuringrulebythisamount.This
willautomaticallysetthestoptogivetherequiredinsidedimensionfor thatparticular
widthofmoulding.
SlidingMeasuringSystem,modelsSMM(metric)andSMI(inch)
Inthissystemthemeasuringtableisfittedwithstainlesssteelplateswhichcarry
measuringlinesset at45degrees.Thesemeasurementsgive'insidedimensions'.
Theendofthelengthofmouldingtobeusedismitredat45degreesandthen
positionedalongthe45degreemeasuringlinesothattheinsidepointofthemitreis
onthelinetogivethe'insidedimension'.

thelengthofmouldingtobe

againstthefences,slidethe
Rebate

forward
andadjusttheheightofeachonesothattheyslideunderthe

a
minimum
ofclearance.Itisimportanttosetthisheightaccurately,ifitistoolowthen
the
rebate
maybedamagedand
ifit
istoo
high
thenit
willlift
the
moulding
and
cause
an
error
intheangleof
mitre.
Trim
thefirstendoftheMoulding
Move
the
Mitring
Head
fully
forward
andplacethe
first
endofthemouldingsothat
approximately
6mmprotrudesundertheblade.Position the
Rebate
supportand
press
thefootpedal
slowly
until
itis
fully
downand
release
thepedal.
Move
the
Mitring
Head
forward
6mmand
repeat
theprocedure
until
a completemitreis
cut.
