1. General Safety Principles
RECOMMENDATIONS IN THE MANUAL
Failure to follow the recommendations in the manual may result in property damage and personal injury. The
manufacturer is not liable for any damage resulting directly or indirectly from failure to comply with this manual.
STORING THE MANUAL
Keep this manual and the documentation pertaining to the Heat Recovery Unit in a location easily accessible to
operators and service personnel.
REQUIREMENTS CONTAINED IN SUPPLEMENTARY INSTRUCTIONS
Depending on configuration, additional instructions for the following components may be provided with the unit. It is
essential that you familiarise yourself with the safety requirements specified in:
•Operation and Maintenance Manual for OnyX accessories
PERSONNEL AUTHORISATIONS
Installation, start-up, and operation of the unit must be carried out by personnel having appropriate qualifications
required by the current regulations.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
Make sure that the mains supply voltage matches the data specified on the nameplate of the unit. The maximum
permissible deviations are:
•Power supply voltage: +/- 6%
•Frequency: +/- 2%
DANGER
Before making any electrical connections or performing any maintenance works, make sure that the supply
voltage is disconnected, and the circuit breaker is in the disconnected position.
Parameters of the power supply line and its necessary protective equipment must be selected and dimensioned by
personnel with appropriate qualifications, regarding designing electrical installations, according to the applicable laws.
TRANSPORT
The unit must be transported to the place of installation in accordance with the applicable safety regulations. Persons
who operate means of transport (a forklift truck, crane, etc.) must have appropriate qualifications. When transporting
the unit, wear personal protective equipment (safety gloves, safety helmets, safety goggles). Never stand under
suspended loads.
OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES
Maintenance inspections must be carried out regularly at the intervals specified in the “Operation” section. The goal is
to detect defective or loose parts in advance and avoid breakdowns. Failure to rectify the detected fault increases the
risk of failure, damage, or injury.
CAUTION HOT PARTS
The unit contains components with high surface temperature (e.g., heat exchangers, heaters, motor
housing). Direct contact with them may cause burns or other injuries. Take special care, wear protective
clothing, and perform maintenance works only after their temperature falls below 40°C.
WARNING SHARP EDGES
The unit is designed with sharp edges (e.g., lamellas in heat exchangers). Contact with them may result
in injuries.Wear protective clothing and be particularly careful when performing maintenance works.
WARNING MOVING PARTS
The unit contains moving parts (e.g. fan rotors). Contact with them may result in mutilations or serious
injuries. Maintenance work may only be carried out, when such parts have completely stopped.
DETECTING FAULTS
In case of mechanical damage to the supplied goods, please draw up a damage report with the carrier. The report
is to be drawn up on the day of delivery and it is the basis for acceptance of claims for transport damage. If a fault
or malfunction is detected, switch off the unit and call an authorised service centre.
REPAIRS
All repairs should be carried out by an authorised service centre and using original spare parts.
MODIFICATIONS
Unauthorised (mechanical or electrical) modifications to the equipment are not permitted and void the warranty. The
manufacturer is not responsible for any such actions.

Operation and Maintenance Manual, OnyX Sky Heat Recovery Units, 2022/01
Frapol Sp. z o.o. reserves the right to introduce changes without any prior notice. Page 4
INTENDED USE OF THE UNIT
Operate the equipment according to its intended use and design, as well as within its operating parameters. In the event
of improper use, the manufacturer shall not be held liable for any consequences resulting from such misuse.
PACKAGING
Packaging parts (plastic film, polyester foam, nails, etc.) are hazardous and should be stored away from children, and
disposed of after use in accordance with applicable regulations.
2. Declaration of the Manufacturer
The Manufacturer declares that the equipment meets the safety requirements of the following directives and associated
standards:
•2004/108/EC
•2006/42/EC
•2006/95/EC
•2009/125/EC
The sub-assemblies delivered by suppliers have the appropriate declarations of conformity and/or the CE marking in
accordance with the following directives:
•97/23/EC
In order to meet the basic requirements of EMC 2004/108/EC, the unit must be installed using professional engineering
methods, ensuring electromagnetic compatibility, taking into account information on the use of components for its
intended purpose, and meeting the requirements of the EMC Directive.
This declaration applies only if the unit has been installed in accordance with the Operation and Maintenance Manual
and no changes have been made.
2.1 Residual hazards
In the process of designing and manufacturing the equipment, solutions were applied that minimise possible hazards
to persons and property. However, this does not eliminate all possible risks. Below is the list of some events outside the
control of the manufacturer, which may cause potential risk to human health and security of property:
HAZARDS RESULTING FROM INCORRECT INSTALLATION AND ASSEMBLY
•accumulation and leakage of condensate (damage to property, short-circuit)
•leakage of water from the circuit (damage to property, short circuit)
•falling of the appliance installed on an unsuitable substructure (danger to health and life, damage to
property),
•installation in a place accessible to unauthorised persons (danger to health and life).
HAZARDS RESULTING FROM INCORRECT TRANSPORTING
•falling or overturning of the appliance in transport (danger to health and life, damage to property).
HAZARDS RESULTING FROM INCORRECT ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION
•short-circuit, fire, toxic fumes (danger to health and life, damage to property).
OPERATION WITHOUT PROTECTIVE PANELS AND GUARDS IN PLACE
•contact with moving or hot parts (danger to health and life).
3. General information
This OMM provides information concerning the installation, start-up, operation and maintenance of the FRAPOL OnyX
Heat Recovery Units. Read the instructions and recommendations, before carrying out any operation on the device.
Damage to the unit resulting from failure to observe the instructions –in particular due to improper storage or

3.6 Efficiency of the heat recovery system and electric power consumption
The temperature efficiency of heat recovery in the HRU OnyX series was determined on the basis of laboratory tests
under the following operating conditions:
- HRS temperature efficiency 1
Fresh air parameters: 7°C, 50%
Exhaust air parameters 20°C, 40%
- HRS temperature efficiency 2
Fresh air parameters: 0°C, 50%
Exhaust air parameters 20°C, 40%
Standard operating mode (anti-freeze system deactivated), with balanced and adjusted ventilation system (fresh air
flow rate = exhaust air flow rate) and clean air filters. The electrical power consumption is determined for the static
pressure of 100 Pa.
NOTE
The manufacturer is not responsible for reduced heat recovery efficiency resulting from improper operation
and imbalance of the ventilation system.
