Introduction Let’s make some sounds
1. Turn on power
3. Touch your partners who’re holding
their grips
2. Hold the grip
Thank you very much for purchasing Freqtric Drums. Since I had first designed
Freqtric Drums in 2004, it took seven years to launch out on the market.
While Zen-On Music Company Limited has already sold Freqtric Drums (Zen-On
model), this model is rather close to its original version. All functions to enjoy
Freqtric Drums such as sound source and speaker unit are now integrated into one
box, so that this is more accessible to the common users.
Dierent points from Zen-On model are:
1. Wood (hard maple) is used for the hardware.
2. You can make much bigger sound.
3. 133 kinds of instrument set are now available.
4. MIDI OUT can introduce interaction with computer.
5. Audio IN can have sounds from external audio input going out through internal
speaker unit.
“If a drummer bangs her/his audience for the performance, it might be fun”. That
was my first inspiration for producing Freqtric Drums. First I made its prototypes and
then the feedback from many people helped to improve them up to the current
version. Freqtric Drums is going more and more to be upgraded. Please keep your
eyes on further development.
Innovations in science technology have expanded human abilities in communica-
tion. On the other hand, we human beings have utilized a wonderful tool for
communication, physical contact, from the beginning. I believe that humankind and
science technology should have a blissful marriage, if the latter educes the great
potentialities of the former.

Position of grips
How to memorize
Let’s Play Some Tune
At first, set the tone of Freqtric Drums to a melody instrument, like piano or marimba.
Available notes are from Do to Mi that is an octave and two degrees above. A specific note
is to be played when users touch each other holding grips of proper position, indicated
with red points on the figure below. The position of grips for notes in ascending order can
be memorized as drawing a circle (pentagon) and then a star.
Please refer to Freqtric Drums’ website (http://freqtric.com) for the songs that can be performed.

When Do We Need to Shi?
If You Want to Use Half Tones or
Other Scales
There are unavailable notes in the default
setting.
By shiing the lowest note, all the necessary
notes become available.
You have access to scale on Freqtric Drums: You can play notes of whole
tone between Do and Mi (an octave and two degrees above), or C major
scale, with combination of users who touch each other. By issuing a
command for setting scale (five users touching each other for four seconds
at the same time), you can shi the lowest note of scale to one note below.
If you want to play in C major scale “Baroque
Hoedown”, a famous tune in Disney’s
Electrical Parade, you need to shi the
lowest note, Do, down to So so that you will
get enough range of pitch to play the tune.
