• User servicing—Do not repair or replace any part

• Verify the anti-tip device has

To check if the anti-tip bracket is installed properly, use
both arms and grasp the rear edge of range back.
Carefully attempt to tilt range forward. When properly
installed, the range should not tilt forward.

suppliedwithyour range for proper installation.
• Ensure the anti-tip device is re-engaged when
the range is moved to floor or wall.
• Do not operate the range without the anti-tip

Ask your dealer to recommend a qualified technician and
an authorized repair service. Know how to disconnect the
power to the range at the circuit breaker or fuse box in
case of an emergency.
• Stepping, leaning or sitting on the door or
drawers of a range can result in serious injuries
and also cause damage to the appliance. DO NOT
allow children to climb or play around the range. The
weight of a child on an open oven door may cause the
range to tip, resulting in serious burns or other injury.

They should never be allowed to sit or stand on any part
of the range including the storage drawer, lower broiler

• Use care when opening oven door , lower oven
door or warmer drawer (if equipped)—Stand to the
side of the range when opening the door of a hot oven.
Let hot air or steam escape before you remove or replace
foodin the oven.
• Keep oven vent ducts unobstructed. The oven vent
is located under the left rear surface element if your
model is equipped with coil elements. The oven vent is
locatedbelow the backguardformodels equipped with
ceramic-glass cook tops. Touching the surfaces in this
area when the oven is operating may cause severe
burns. Also, do not place plastic or heat-sensitive items
on or near the oven vent. These items could melt or
ignite.
• Placement of interior oven racks. Always place oven
racks in desired location while oven is cool. If rack must
be moved while oven is hot use extreme caution. Use
potholders and grasp the rack with both hands to
reposition.Donotletpotholderscontactthehotheating
elements in the oven. Remove all utensils from the rack
beforemoving.
• Do not use the broiler pan without its insert. The
broiler pan and its insert allow dripping fat to drain and
be kept away from the high heat of the broiler. Do not
coverthebroilerinsertwithaluminumfoil.Exposed
fat and grease could ignite.
Do not attempt to operate the range during a
power failure. If the power fails, always turn off the
range. If the range is not turned off and the power
resumes, the range will begin to operate again. Once the
power resumes, reset the clock and oven function.
IMPORTANT
• Be sure to always have an appropriate foam-type fire
extinguisheravailable,visibleandeasilyaccessible
locatedneartheappliance.
• Never modify or alter the construction of a range
byremovingtheleveling legs,panels,wirecovers,
anti-tip bracket/screws, or any other part of the
range.
• Remove the oven door from any unused range if it
is to be stored or discarded.
• Do not store items of interest to children in the
cabinets above a range or on the backguard of
the range. Children climbing on the range to reach
items could be seriously injured.
• Do not touch surface heating units or surface
cooking elements, areas near these units or
elements, or interior surfaces of oven. Both
surfaceheatingand oven heating elements may be hot
even though they are dark in color. Areas near surface
cookingunits maybecomehotenoughto causeburns.
During and after use, do not touch, or let clothing or
otherflammablematerials touch these areas until they
have had sufficient time to cool. Among these areas are
thecooktop,surfacesfacingthecooktop, theovenvent
openingsandsurfacesneartheseopenings, oven door
andoven doorwindow.
• Wear proper apparel — loose-fitting or hanging
garmentsshouldneverbewornwhileusingthe
appliance.Donotletclothingorotherflammable
materialscontact hotsurfaces.
• Do not use water or flour on grease fires — flour
maybeexplosive. Smotherthe fire witha pan lid,
or use baking soda, a dry chemical or foam-type
extinguisher.
• When heating fat or grease, watch it closely. Fat
or grease may catch fire if allowed to become too hot.
• Use dry potholders — moist or damp potholders
on hot surfaces may result in burns from steam.
Donotletpotholderstouchhotheatingelements.Do
not use a towel or other bulky cloth instead of a
potholder.
• Do not heat unopened food containers - buildup
of pressure may cause container to burst and
resultininjury.
• Storage in or on appliance — to avoid a fire hazard,
flammablematerialsshouldnotbestoredinan
oven, near surface units or in the storage drawer,
warmer drawer or lower oven. This includes paper,
plasticandclothitems,suchascookbooks,plasticware
and towels, as well as flammable liquids. Do not store
explosives, such as aerosol cans, on or near the range.
•Protective liners—Do not use aluminum foil to line the
ovenbottom.Onlyuse aluminumfoil asrecommended
in this manual. Improper installation of these liners may
result in risk of electric shock, or fire.

•Clean the range regularly to keep all parts free of
grease that could catch fire. Pay particular attention
to the area around each surface element. Do not allow
greasetoaccumulate.

Be aware that excess residue from cleaners and aerosols

FOR CERAMIC-GLASS COOK TOP MODELS
•Do not cookon broken cook top—If cook top should

the broken cook top and create a risk of electric shock.

• Clean cook top with caution—If a wet sponge or cloth
is used to wipe spills on a hot cooking area, be careful to
avoid a steam burn. Some cleaners can produce noxious
fumes if applied to a hot surface.
SELF-CLEANING OVENS
• Clean in the self-cleaning cycle only the parts
listedinthisUse & CareManual.Beforeself-cleaning
the oven, remove the broiler pan and any utensils or
foodsfrom theoven.
•DoNotUseOvenCleaners—Nocommercialoven
cleaneror oven liner protective coating ofany kind should
be used in or around any part of the oven.
•DoNot Clean DoorGasket—Thedoorgasketis
essential for a good seal. Care should be taken not to
rub, damage or move the gasket.
•The health of some birds is extremely sensitive to the
fumesgivenoff during the self-cleaning cycle of any
range.Movebirds to another well-ventilated room.
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING
YOUR COOKTOP
•Knowwhichknobcontrolseachsurfaceheating
unit. Place a pan of food on the unit before turning it on,
and turn the unit off before removing the pan.
• Use proper pan size—This appliance is equipped with
one or more surface units of different sizes. Select
utensilshavingflatbottoms largeenoughtocoverthe
surface unit heating element. The use of undersized
utensils will expose a portion of the heating element to
directcontact andmayresultinignition ofclothing.
Proper relationship of utensil to element will also improve
efficiency.
•Utensilhandlesshouldbeturnedinwardandnot
extend over adjacent surface elements—To reduce
the risk of burns, ignition of flammable materials, and
spillageduetounintentionalcontactwith theutensil,the
handle of the utensil should be positioned so that it is
turnedinward,anddoesnot extend over adjacent
surfaceunits.
• Never leave surface elements unattended at high
heatsettings—Boiloverscause smoking andgreasy
spillovers that may ignite, or a pan that has boiled dry
may melt.
•Donotimmerseorsoakremovableheating
elements—Heatingelementsshouldneverbeimmersed
inwater. Heatingelementsclean themselvesduring
normaloperation.
•Glazedcookingutensils—Onlycertaintypesofglass,
glass/ceramic, ceramic, earthenware, or other glazed
utensils are suitable for cook top service without breaking
duetothesuddenchangeintemperature.Checkthe
manufacturer’srecommendationsforcooktopuse.
•Whenflamingfoodsunderaventilatinghood,turn
the fan on.
• Do not touch the oven during the self-clean cycle.
•Keep children away from oven during self-clean cycle.
•Failure to follow these instructions can result in burns.

The oven vent is located under the left side of the
control panel (See Fig. 1). When the oven is heating,
warm air passes through this vent. This venting is
necessary for proper air circulation in the oven which helps
to provide good baking results. Do not block the oven
vent.
Always use oven mitts to protect hands from possible
burnswhenusingtheovenorcooktop.Theoven,oven
racks and cooktop will become very hot.
Oven racks
Do not remove or attempt to arrange oven racks with
cookware still on the racks. To avoid damaging cookware
or spilling food items, always remove any cookware first.

Most oven racks slide on rack guides provided along the
oven cavity sides. The rack guides are curved near the front
of each guide. The curve will catch and hold the oven rack
stable into a stop position when an oven rack is extended
straight out from the oven.
For better access to food items in the oven, slowly pull the
oven rack straight out to the oven rack stop position (Fig.
3) before checking on food items or removing food dishes
from the oven.

Types of oven racks

Your range may be equipped with one or more of the
followingoven rack typeslistedbelow:
The flat oven rack (some models) may be used for most
cooking needs and may be placed in most rack positions.
The flat handle oven rack (some models) may be used
for most cooking needs. May be placed in most rack
positions. Similar to the flat oven rack but comes with a
built-inhandle.
The offset oven rack (some models) provides additional
stepdown positions from the standard flat rack design. The
offset design positions the base of the rack about 1/2 of a
rack position lower than the flat rack and may be used in
mostovenrackpositions.
The half rack (some models) has a removable section to
allow for taller cooking utensils in the oven. When the
removable section is in place, the rack may be used like the
flatoven rack.
TheEffortless™OvenRack(somemodels)instructions
are provided later in this section.
The bottom oven rack (if equipped) should only be used
in the lowest oven rack position. To maximize oven space,
place cookware on the bottom oven rack for example when
roasting large cuts of meat. Do not use the bottom oven
rack inanyotheroven rack position.

Baking layer cakes with 1 or 2 oven racks
For best results when baking cakes using 2 oven racks,
place cookware on rack in positions 2 & 5. For best results
when using a single or an offset oven rack, place cookware
on rack in position 2, 3 or 4.
Air circulation in the oven
For best baking results allow 2 to 4 inches (5-10 cm)
around the cookware for proper air circulation and be sure
pans and cookware do not touch each other, the oven door,
sides or back of the oven cavity. For even heating, hot air
must be able to circulate freely around the pans and
cookware (See Fig. 1).

BEFORE SETTING OVEN CONTROLS
Effortless™ Oven Rack system
Some models are equipped with a special oven rack system
thatautomaticallypartiallyextendstheovenrackfromthe
interior oven glides to assist in easier access to your food
items. This feature works whenever the oven door is
openedorclosed.
Never pick up hot oven rack parts. Make sure the
oven and oven racks are COMPLETLY cool and safe to
touchbeforeattemptingto assemble or disassemble the
Effortless™OvenRack.
ToassembletheEffortless™Oven Rack system:
1. Locate all required parts. You will need the supplied
oven rack (Effortless™ Oven Rack is a flat rack with a
special dark coating on the left and right rack
sides) and the 2 supplied chrome connector arms.
2. Open the oven door. Be sure the oven is completely
coolbeforeproceeding.
3. Place the oven rack in positions 2, 3 or 4 only (see
previouspage to verify positions).Besurethe rack
connector brackets are at the rear of the range and
pointing towards oven bottom (See Fig. 2).
4. Assemble one connector arm at a time. With the oven
door open and the oven rack in place, install one end of
the connector arm to the hole in the door connector
bracket (Fig. 1) and the other end in the hole in the
rack connector bracket (Fig. 2 and as in Fig. 3). The
oven rack may need to be adjusted in or out in the rack
positiontomatchthe length of the connector arm.
5. While holding the connector arm in place, twist the
connector arm so the ends of the connector arm point
upwards (See Figs. 4 & 5). The connector arm should
nowbe locked intoposition.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the other connector arm.
7. Once both connector arms are properly in place, be
suretotestthe oven rack operation by gently closing
the oven door. The oven rack should move in and out of
the oven freely when the door is opened or closed.

IMPORTANT
REMOVEALLOVENRACKSandaccessoriesbefore
starting a self-clean cycle. If the oven racks are left in
the oven during the self-clean cycle, the glide ability of
theEffortless™Oven Rack system will be damaged and
will cause oven racks to loose their shiny finish. Remove
ALLoven racks and clean according toinstructions
provided in the Care & Cleaning section of this manual.
• OnlytheEffortless™OvenRack systemshouldbe
used in oven rack position 2. PlacingANY other rack
in oven rack position 2 will prevent the oven door
fromfullyclosingandmaydamagetheovendoor,
ovencavity orthedoorconnector brackets.
•If the rack system is not assembled with the connector
arms the Effortless™ Oven rack may be used in oven
rack positions 2 thru 7. Do not attempt to use the
Effortless™Oven rack in rack position 1.

About the ceramic glass cooktop
Thedesign pattern on the ceramiccooktopoutlinesthe
area and size of the surface element located just below the
ceramic glass cooktop. Be sure to match the pan size with
the diameter of the element outline on the cooktop and use
onlyqualityflat-bottomedcookware.
The type and size of cookware, the number of surface
elements in use and their settings are all factors that will
affect the amount of heat that will spread to areas beyond
the surface elements. The areas surrounding the elements
may become hot enough to cause burns.
Element on & hot surface indicator lights
Yourapplianceis equipped with two different types of
radiant surface control indicator lights that will glow on the
backguard —the element on indicator lights and the hot
surface indicator light (See Fig. 1).
About the radiant surface elements
When first turned on, the element temperature rises
gradually and evenly. As the temperature rises, the element
will glow red. To maintain the selected power setting it is
normal for the element to cycle ON and OFF. The element
will retain enough heat to provide a uniform and consistent
heatduring the off cycle.
For efficient cooking, turn the surface element OFF several
minutes before cooking is complete. This will allow residual
heattocompletethecookingprocess.

• Radiant elements have a limiter that allows the element
to cycle ON and OFF, even at the HI setting. This helps
toprevent damage totheceramic smoothtop.Cyclingat
the HI setting is normal and will occur more often if the
cookware is too small for the radiant element or if the
cookwarebottom is not flat.
• Be sure to read the detailed instructions for ceramic
glass cooktop care in the Care & Cleaning and Before
You Call checklist sections of this Use & Care Manual.
Theelement onindicator lights arelocated on the
controlpanelabove each radiant element control knob and
will glow when a surface element is turned ON. A quick
glance at this indicator light after cooking is an easy check
to be sure ALL surface controls are turned OFF. The hot
surface indicator light located on the control panel will
glow when any surface cooking area heats up and will
remain on until the glass cooktop has cooled to a
MODERATElevel.
Types of cooktop elements
The patterns provided on the ceramic glass surface outlines
the size, shape and type of element available at each
positiononthecooktop.Thesingleradiantelementwill
havea singleround outlinepattern.
The versatile dual radiant element (some models) will have
a dual ring pattern marked on the cooktop. This element
allows the user to set the smaller inner portion only or both
the inner and outer portions may be set to heat together.
The keep warm zone (some models) should always be
used to keep already cooked foods warm. This element is
located at the center rear position (Fig. 2).

BEFORE SETTING SURFACE CONTROLS
Do not place empty aluminum, glass or porcelain-enamel
coated cookware on the ceramic cooktop! The melting
point of some cookware types may be reached if left
empty on the cooktop while heating. If the cookware
melts it could bond to and damage the cooktop! Be sure
to follow all the cookware manufacturer’s suggestions
when using any type of cookware on the ceramic cooktop.

Using proper cookware
The size and type of cookware used will influence the
setting needed for best cooking results. Be sure to follow
the recommendations for using proper cookware as
illustrated.
Cookwareshould haveflat bottomsthatmake goodcontact
with the entire surface element (See Fig. 1). Check for
flatness by rotating a ruler across the bottom of the
cookware(Fig. 2). For additional information about the

Maintenance"intheCare &Cleaning section.
Cookware material types for the cooktop
Thecookware material determines how evenly andquickly
heat is transferred from the surface element to the pan

Keep warm zone (some models)
The purpose of the keep warm zone is to keep hot cooked
foods at serving temperature. Use the keep warm feature
tokeep cooked foods hot such as; vegetables, gravies,
casseroles, soups, stews, breads, pastries and oven-safe
dinnerplates.
Always start with hot food. It is not recommended to heat
cold food on the keep warm zone. All food placed on the
warming zone should be covered with a lid to maintain
quality.
For best results, when warming pastries or breads, the
cover should have an opening to allow moisture to escape.
Do not use plastic wrap to cover food. Plastic may
melt onto the surface and be very difficult to clean.
Useonly dishware, utensilsandcookwarerecommended
for oven and cooktop use on the keep warm zone.

Home canning
Be sure to read and observe all the following points when
home canning using your appliance.
• Use only quality flat bottom canners when home canning.
Use a straight-edge to check canner bottom. Be sure the
cookware has no ridges that radiate from the bottom
center when home canning using a ceramic cooktop.
• Start with hot tap water to bring water to boil more
quickly.
•Use the highest heat seating when first bringing the water
to a boil. Once boiling is achieved, reduce heat to lowest
possible setting to maintain that boil.
• Make sure the diameter of the canner does not
exceed 1 inch beyond the surface element
markings or burner. It is recommended to use smaller
diameter canners on electric coil and ceramic glass
cooktops.
•When using two canners at the same time, stagger the
canners on the left and right sides of the cooktop. This
will help distribute the heat generated more evenly.
IMPORTANT
NEVER place or straddle a cooking utensil over 2 different
surface cooking areas at the same time. This may cause
the ceramic cooktop to fracture.
Be sure to review the latest online information for home
canning. Some suggestions might be the U.S. Department
of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service or the
National Center for Home Food Preservation (NCHFP).

SETTING OVEN CONTROLS
The oven control is factory preset to display the oven
temperature with Fahrenheit (°F) values. The control may
be changed to display either Fahrenheit or Celsius
temperatures.
To change the temperature to display Celsius (°C) or
Fahrenheit(°F):
1. Press keypad. "— —" appears in the display.
2. Pressandholdthe keypaduntil "HI"appearsin the
display.
3. Press and hold keypad until °F or °C appears in
thedisplay.
4. Press the or keypad to change °F to °C or °C
to°F.
5. Press any keypad to return to normal operating mode.
1. Press and hold keypad for 5 seconds until a
tone sounds. " — — hr" will appear in display for
continuous cooking. The current time of day will return

1. Press keypad twice(do not hold keypaddown).

Setting the clock
When the appliance is first powered up or when the power
supplytothe appliance has been interrupted and restored,
the display will flash the time of day. Be sure to set the
clock with the correct time of day before using the oven.
NOTE
The clock cannot be set or adjusted when the oven is
active including self-clean.
Press and hold the keypad until the control beeps
once (about 7 seconds). This will block the controls from
sounding when a keypad is pressed in the future.
Setting for audible or silent keypad
operation
Normally a beep will sound each time a keypad is pressed.
If desired, the oven control may be set for silent keypad
operation.
When the control is set for silent keypad operation the
timer, preheat and any end of cycle or any error tone
alerts will remain audible.
NOTE

Setting lock feature
The oven control may be set to lock the oven door and most
ovencontrolkeypadoperations.
To set the lock feature:
Press and hold the keypad for 3 seconds. "Loc" will
appear in display, the "door locked"indicator light will flash
and the motor driven door lock will begin to lock the oven
door. Allow about 15 seconds for the oven door to fully
lock. Once the oven door is locked, the current time of day
will appear in the display.
To cancel the lock feature:
Press and hold the keypad for 3 seconds. The
control will unlock the oven door and resume normal
keypadoperation.
SETTING OVEN CONTROLS
•To avoid possible damage to the oven door latch
mechanism, do not attempt to force open or close the
oven door whenever the "door locked"indicator light is
flashing.
•If a control keypad is pressed when the lock feature is
active, "Loc"will appear in the display as a reminder
that the keypad action requested is not available when
the lock feature is active.
1. Press keypadonce (donot holdkeypad down).
2. Press the keypad to increase the time in one minute
increments. Press and hold the keypad to increase
the time in 10 minute increments. The timer may be set
for any amount of time from 1 minute to 11 hours and
59minutes.
Note: If the keypadis pressed first, the timerwill
initiallyadvance to 11 hours and 59 minutes.
3. When the set time has run out, the timer will beep 3
times and will continue to beep 3 times every 60
seconds until is pressed.
Tochangetheamountoftimeremaining:
When the timer is active and appears in the display, press
the or keypad to increase or decrease the time
remaining.
To cancel the timer before the set time has run out:
Press keypad once.

The built-in minute timer may be used as an extra reminder
in the kitchen that will beep when the set time has run out.
NOTES
•The timer does not start or stop the cooking process.
The timer may be used alone or when any other oven
function is active.
• The indicator light located above the keypad
will remain on whenever the timer is active.
•The timer will display hours and minutes until 1 hour
remains. When less than 1 hour remains, the display
will count down in minutes and seconds. Once the timer
has less than 1 minute remaining only seconds will
display.
•When cooking with an active timer, the timer will show
in the display by default. To view information of any
other active oven function, press the keypad once for
the active function to view status.

Dark or dull pans absorb more heat than shiny bakeware

recommended for pies. Shiny pans are recommended for
cakes, cookies and muffins.
To change the oven temperature after bake has
started:
1. Press keypad. Visually check the bake
temperature at this time.

set temperature to the desired new oven temperature.

How quick bake works
Quick bake uses a fan to circulate the oven's heat
uniformlyandcontinuouslyaroundtheoven.Thisimproved
heatdistribution allows for fast,evencooking and browning
results. It also gives better baking results when using two
racks at the same time.
Heated air flows around the food from all sides, sealing in
juices and flavors. Meats cooked with quick bake are
juicer. Poultry is crisp on the outside while staying tender
and moist on the inside. Breads and pastry brown more
evenly. Most foods baked in a standard oven can be cooked
faster andmore evenlywith quickbake.
Suggestions for quick bake
Whenbaking
•For optimum cooking results it is recommended to
preheatthe oven when baking foods such as cookies,
biscuitsandbreads.
•Reduce oven temperature 25°F from recipe’s
recommendedoventemperature.Followtheremainder
oftherecipe’s instructions using the minimum
recommendedcooktime.
•When using 2 oven racks at the same time, place in
positions 2 & 5 for best results (See Fig. 1).
When roasting
•Preheatingisnot necessary when roasting foods using
quickbake.
•Since quickbakecooks foodfaster,reducethe cook
time by 25% from the recommended cook time of your
recipe. Check the food at this time. If necessary,
increase cook time until the desired doneness is
obtained.
•Do not cover foods when dry roasting - this will prevent
the air from circulating around the food.
Setting quick bake
The oven may be programmed toquick bake at any
temperature from 170°F to 550°F (77°C to 287°C). The
factorypreset automatic baketemperatureis350°F
(177°C).
Tosetquickbake:
