Correct position
Setting up Multivision
The correct site ...
... logically, as nearer as possible to main TV set and other A/V signal
sources, it will be better. You have to choose a stable position at wich you
can lay necessary connecting cables in a comfortable way and plug the
Multivision.
The equipment, like any other electronic device, generates a working
temperature, take care of where you place it if there are more devices
because a temperature excess can be generated and damage all
equipments. Choose an aired place and far from any external heat source
like radiators, chimneys etc.
Therefore:
Never expose the system to direct solar radiation.
Choose one site, where liquids can not be spilt inside under any circumstance.
Assure the connection to the mains, a false contact could cause a fire. Net cable
must be specially far away from external heat sources. Make sure that children
have no access to net cable or electrical connections.
Important:
Choose a place where you can reach the power plug in any case of danger
situations and move the power plug from the socket (230V)

Correct position Multivision
IR Remote Reception
For the right function of remote control repeater, the choice of LED cable
position is very important. Cable length is 1,9 meters.
The LED cable transmits the signals generated in remote rooms to control the
Multivision as well as the rest of devices that have this function.
Most entertaintment devices A/V have an infrared sensor on its front panel, so
they all can be controlled from the same place.
The complement of the LED cable is the IR receiver located in the remote
rooms. It gets the signals from remote controls, modulates them in 11 MHz and
transmits them through the coax cable from this room to the Multivision.
To install the IR receiver following things must be considered.
1st Cable length between receiver and sensor IR 4 (this is the one that really
receives infrared signal) is 1,9 meters.
2nd The Sensor (IR 4) must be located in a visible place.
3rd Receiver must be plugged in a power supply (included in the equipment).

Connecting the Multivision
Here is an installation example of the Multivision system.
It seems to be complicated but following these instructions you will see that’s
very easy to install.

All rights reserved 14 © FTEmaximal
Connection of the inputs R2 - R6
Once all connections with equipments A/V are made, plug the Multivision.
Connections R2 (AUX1) and R3 (AUX 2) are used to connect equipments with
RCA outputs for instance Handycam or videogames. Input R4 is marked as SAT
(satellite receiver) and can be selected from the front panel or remote control
with SAT key. Same procedure must be applied to the rest: R5 (DVD), and R6
(VCR).
These inputs selection is not obligatory, you can connect any audio and video
source (that accomplish specifications in page 8), in any input. Indications are
as common installing example and to fix selection buttons.
R9 connector is an input of terrestrial or cable TV.
Signals that come in this input only appear in R10 output and are not modified
by Multivision´s modulator.
For example, if in input R9 exists the channel C10 (210,25 MHz) at output
connector (R10) there is also this channel available for TV set.
Connection Outputs R7 and R10
Main television set (Room 1) is connected directly to the Multivision system,
using R7 and included Scart-Scart cable. In this output all incoming signals in
inputs R2-R6 are available now in Stereo for the main TV (if the input source
supplies a Stereo signal). The output of the modulator R10 combines incoming
signals from antenna or cable with the channel generated by Multivision, and
send all it through coaxial cable to remote room.
Modulator output channel by factory default is channel 21.
System to select the output channel is described in page 15.
Necessary elements top distribute this signal up to remote rooms are not
included in Multivision.
It must be considered that all used elements in distribution to remote rooms
must allow to have a return channel (5-30MHz) for the function of remote control
repeater.
Ask your usual installer or distributor to know best elements for distribution and
avoid future changes.
Connect in R11 LEDs cable connector M 1.
If all connections are already made you can plug the Multivision and enjoy your
new equipment.

Multivision
Parameters
Necessary adjustments in Multivision system are only 2.
1. Modulator output channel
2. Adjustment of output level in remote receiver
Modulator output channel
Adjustment of output channel is made by some microswitches placed in the rear
panel of Multivision.
Make sure that the channel that is going to be selected is free and the one
immediately lower and upper are also free. Example: If you decide to use CH26
check that CH25 and CH27 are free specially lower one.
Microswitches are marked from 1 to 8.
Microswitch position follows this rule: If in the board of page 16 appears “0” then
suitable microswitch must be up, otherwise if in the board appears “1” position
must be down (ON).
Position 7 is used to generate a video test pattern (to tune TV sets). Switching ON
this position is activated the picture of two vertical white lines on black
background.
Position 8 is unused.
Use test pattern generator to tune the channel of Multivision
in TV sets of remote roomsaand also to check that the channel
is free of interferences. To modify the selection of microswitches
use a small screwdriver.

Parameters
Adjustment of output level in remote receiver
To be sure that signals from remote control
repeater arrive at their destination, infrared receiver
has an amplifier built in which can adjust the level.
As any other amplifier it can cause distortions
in signals if level is excessive or not arrive at
destination if it’s weak.
How to decide which is the suitable level is
complicated and should need right tools to exactly
measure what’s happening.
For a correct adjustment of this level consider the
following:
1st Function of remote control repeater must
perfectly work if line is direct from Multivision to remote room. If there are more
devices signal will be weaker (arriving to cancel the signal)
2nd It should not appear interferences in TV when this function is used.
Depending on adjusted level some horizontal lines could appear in the picture, in
this case adjust output level with a small screwdriver turning on the left the
adjusting potentiometer of infrared receiver IR 3 until they disappear but the
repeater is functioning.
Check that repeater works correctly with all remote controls that you are going to
use.
Anyway you must know that with factory default adjustment it should work without
problems if installation is conventional.

Usual operating Multivision
For the functioning of Multivision there are two possibilities:
The first and most convenient: to use remote control
Second is with buttons in the front panel
Your remote control...
… transmits necessary signals to make any combination of inputs and outputs in
the Multivision through infrared signals.
You must be sure that infrared sensor is free of obstacles and there is direct
vision between it and remote control.
Point the remote control to the sensor meanwhile the keys of inputs selection are
pressed.
Are the batteries empty?
Use alkaline batteries as they have longer life than normal ones. When replace
batteries change them all, don’t mix batteries with different charge.
Insert new batteries in the position showed in the drawing in remote control and
use always type AA LR6 1,5V.
Attention:
Exhausted batteries must be disposed in suitable container for its correct
recycling.

Video Recording (VCR)
The scart marked as VCR is configurated in bidirectional mode, it means that has
input signals (generated by the video when is turned ON) and also output
connections to record in the video selected source to TV out. For example, if you
wish to record a program from satellite receiver you must select SAT input to
main TV and use right input channel in the video (LINE IN/AV etc.).
Attention:
Used scart-scart must have 21 pins connected and must not modify input source
selection meanwhile it is recording (in this case it would record another signal).
