BRUSH CUTTER SAFETY WARNINGS
In addition to the above rules, these additional
instructions are appropriate when using the product in
brushcutter mode.
Use heavy-duty gloves while installing or removing
blades, they have sharp edges.
Do not attempt to touch or stop the blade when it is
rotating.
A moving blade can cause severe injury. Maintain
proper control of the machine with both hands until
the blade has completely stopped rotating.
Replace any blade that has been damaged. Always
make sure blade is installed correctly and securely
fastened before each use.
Use only the manufacturer’s replacement 3-tooth
blades. Do not use any other cutting attachment.
Never cut any material over 13 mm diameter.
Your brushcutter is fitted with a harness. Carefully
adjust the harness to fit comfortably and help to
support the weight of the machine at your right side.
Never wear additional clothing over the harness or
otherwise that restrict access to the quick release
mechanism.
Store the blade with the cardboard blade protector
before storing the unit, or during transportation.
Always remove the blade protector before using the
unit. If not removed, the blade protector could
become a thrown object as the blade begins to turn.
xercise extreme caution when using the blade with
this product. Blade thrust is the reaction that may
occur when the spinning blade contacts anything it
cannot cut. This contact may cause the blade to stop
for an instant, and suddenly “thrust” the unit away
from the object that was hit. This reaction can be
violent enough to cause the operator to lose control of
the unit. Blade thrust may occur without warning if the
blade snags, stalls, or binds. This is more likely to
occur in areas where it is difficult to see the material
being cut.
For cutting ease and safety, approach the weeds
being cut from the right to the left. In the event that an
unexpected object or woody stock is encountered,
this practice could minimize the blade thrust reaction.
Both hands must be used at all times to control this
product.
ADDITIONA SAFETY RU ES CHARGERS

ADDITIONA SAFETY RU ES FOR THE BATTERY
PACK
1. The battery pack for this tool has been shipped in a
low charge condition. You should charge the battery
pack fully before use.
2. Do not incinerate the battery pack even if it is
seriously damaged or can no longer hold a charge.
The battery pack can explode in a fire.
3. A small leakage of liquid from the battery pack may
occur under extreme usage or temperature conditions.
This does not necessarily indicate a failure of the
battery pack. However, if the outer seal is broken and
this leakage comes into contact with your skin wash
the affected area quickly with soap and water. If the
leakage gets in your eyes flush your eyes with clean
water for a minimum of 10 minutes and seek
immediate medical attention.
Inform the medical staff that the liquid is a 25-35%
solution of potassium hydroxide.
4. Never attempt to open the battery pack for any
reason. If the plastic housing of the battery pack
breaks open or cracks, immediately discontinue its
use and do not recharge it.
5. Do not store or carry a spare battery pack in a
pocket or toolbox or any other place where it may
come into contact with metal objects. The battery
pack may be short- circuited causing damage to the
battery pack, burns or a fire.
BATTERY CHARGING INFORMATION
Charging rates for NiCad and/or Li-Ion NiCad and/or
Li-Ion battery charging rates are determined by the
time taken to fully charge the battery and are
determined by the charge current. The three most
commonly used charging rates are typically:
Fast charge.
Slow charge.
Trickle charge.
FAST CHARGE BATTERIES
The charging rates for fast charge batteries can vary
between 30 minutes and 90 minutes. The charging
rate for the battery supplied with a cordless power
tool is stated in the product manual.
S OW CHARGE BATTERY
The charging rates for slow charge batteries are
between 3 hours and 5 hours.
TRICK E CHARGE BATTERIES
The charging rates for trickle charge batteries are
between 7 hours and 9 hours.
IMPORTANT!
NICAD AND/OR I-ION BATTERY CHARGING
INFORMATION.
AWAYS FU Y DISCHARGE A NiCad and/or i-
Ion BATTERY BEFORE CHARGING AND NEVER
EXCEED THE CHARGING RATE TIME, EXCEPT
WHEN “CONDITIONING” A NEW BATTERY.
CHARGING PROCEDURE
When charging a new NiCad and/or Li-Ion battery it
should be fully discharged followed by a full charge
for the charging rate for the battery as stated in the
product manual plus 30 minutes.
This should then be followed by a full discharge and a
further full charge for the charging rate for the battery
as stated in the product manual plus 30 minutes. This
procedure will condition the battery and equalise the
cell voltages. Following this procedure will ensure the
optimum operation of the battery.
When repeatedly using the charger to charge a
number of batteries always allow the charger to cool
down before charging another battery. It is
recommended that the cooling down period is not
less than 30 to 45 minutes.
When charging a battery that has been discharged
during heavy use allow the battery to cool down
before charging. It is recommended that the cooling
down period is not less than 30 to 45 minutes.
NICAD AND/OR I-ION CHARGING & CHARGERS
NiCad and/or Li-Ion batteries need to be recharged
with a reasonable amount of care, largely because
they can be damaged by overcharging.
Overcharging can result in the battery temperature
and internal pressure to rise rapidly. This can cause
the cells to distort and lose electrolyte, and in extreme
cases where the internal pressure is extremely high
they can even explode.
This situation can also arise when an overcharged
battery is fitted to the product and is being used. In
order to avoid this extreme situation it is of vital
importance that NiCad and/or Li-Ion batteries are fully
discharged before charging and that the charge time
is not exceeded except when “Conditioning” a new
battery. Repeated charging of partially discharged
batteries could cause failure of one or more of the
cells.
SE F DISCHARGE
A lithium battery can self discharge and lose its stored
charge. Typically it can lose approximately 5% of its
charge in the first month after fully charging (when
stored at room temperature), and then loses it by a
further 3% per month. When stored at higher
temperatures the self discharge rate will be
accelerated.
BATTERY CHARGING INDOORS
This charger is designed to be used indoors. We do
not recommend that it is used inside your home.
Ideally batteries should be charged on a bench in a
workshop, garage or shed.
9

If the charging operation is to be carried out in your
home the area must be well ventilated and the charger
must be placed on a non combustible surface
ensuring that the ventilation slots are not blocked.
Never exceed the charging time except when
“Conditioning” a new battery, as this could damage
the battery and charger.
BATTERY DISPOSA
When the battery fails to charge or maintain its
charge, its usable life is exhausted. To preserve
natural resources, please recycle or dispose of the
battery pack properly. This battery pack contains
nickel-cadmium cells. Before disposal ensure that the
battery pack is fully discharged by operating your
cordless product then remove the battery pack from
the drill housing and cover the battery pack
connections with heavy duty tape, to prevent short
circuit and energy discharge which could result in a
fire. Do not attempt to open or remove any of the
components.
Consult your local waste authority for information
regarding available recycling and / or disposal
options.
SPECIFIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

OPERATION
WARNING! TO AVOID SERIOUS INJURY AND
PROPERTY DAMAGE:
Before operating the gardening appliance, put on
ANSI approved safety goggles, closed toe work
boots, long pants, and other safety gear.
Inspect the area before using the line trimmer/brush
cutter. Remove all hard objects from work area. Use
both hands when operating the machine.
Make sure that the On/Off trigger is in the Off position
and remove the battery packs before setting up the
appliance.
STARTING/STOPPING THE HEDGE TRIMMER
(FIG.21)
To increase safety, the On/Off trigger and trigger
safety lock have to be used together to activate the
trimmer.
Press and hold the trigger safety lock (21.1).
Depress the On/Off trigger (21.2).
Release the On/Off trigger to stop the trimmer.
Caution: Always allow 5 seconds or more for the
cutting line/blade to stop rotating after releasing the
trigger. Do not invert the grass trimmer, or place your
hands under the protective guard until the line
trimmer/brush cutter cutting line/blade has come to a
complete stop.
CORRECT HAND ING OF THE TOO
WARNING: Always position the tool on your
right-hand side. Correct positioning of the tool allows
for maximum control and will reduce the risk of
serious personal injury caused by kickback.
Be extremely careful to maintain control of the tool at
all times. Do not allow the tool to be deflected toward
you or anyone in the work vicinity. Failure to keep
control of the tool could result in serious injury to the
bystander and the operator.
TRIMMING
For the most effective grass trimming, ensure the tool
is operating at full speed and then use slow shallow
sweeps of the line, ensuring that you do not overload
the tool by cutting too fast or cutting through heavy
terrain.
Make sure that the work area is free of rock, debris,
lines and other foreign objects.
Start the tool before approaching the grass to be cut.
Cut the grass by swinging the tool from right to left
and proceed slowly keeping the trimmer inclined
forwards at an angle of about 30º. Light cuts are
better than heavy cuts as they allow the cut grass to
fall away from the spool preventing the grass from
clogging the spool.
High grass should be cut in layers always beginning
from the top. Do not cut damp or wet grass. Do not
overload your tool.
Avoid wearing the line out quickly by knocking against
hard objects (stones, walls, fences etc).
Watch out for kickbacks in the events of impact with
hard objects.
After finishing the cutting operation, keep the head
close to ground level, release the trigger switch and
allow the motor to come to a complete stand still.
Place the trimmer on the ground, remove the
batteries.
Note. Periodically clean out the grass between the
spool and the rim of the guard to prevent the tool
from vibrating.
MAINTENANCE
Warning! To prevent accidental starting that could
cause serious personal injury, always remove the
battery packs from the product before adjusting,
inspecting, or cleaning.
Never disassemble the tool or carry out any repairs.
Always have the trimmer and charger maintained or
repaired by a competent person at an authorised
service centre.
C EANING
Remove the battery packs. Brush or blow dust and
debris out of the air vents using compressed air or a
vacuum. Keep the air vents free of obstructions,
sawdust, and wood chips. Do not spray, wash, or
immerse the air vents in water.
Wipe off the housing and the plastic components
using a moist, soft cloth. Do not use strong solvents
or detergents on the plastic housing or plastic
components. Certain household cleaners may cause
damage, and may cause a shock hazard.
STORAGE
Clean the tool thoroughly before storing. Store the
tool in a dry, well-ventilated place that is inaccessible
to children. Keep away from corrosive agents such as
garden chemicals and de-icing salts.
Always place blade cover on cutting blades before
storing.
Store and charge your batteries in a cool area.
Temperatures above or below normal room
temperature will shorten battery pack life.
Never store batteries in a discharged condition. Wait
for battery pack to cool and fully charge immediately.
All batteries gradually lose their charge. The higher the
temperature, the quicker they lose their charge. If you
store your unit for long periods of time without using
it, recharge the batteries every month or two. This
practice will prolong battery pack life.

RUOHORAIVAUSSAHAN TURVAOHJEET
Hallitse
konetta hyvin molemmin käsin, kunnes terä on täysin
lakannut pyörimästä.
Vaihda terä, jos se on vaurioitunut. Varmista aina, että
terä on asennettu oikein ja kiinnitetty hyvin ennen
käyttöä.
Käytä vain valmistajan 3-hammasteräkorvikkeita. Älä
käytä mitään muita leikkuupäitä.
Älä ikinä leikkaa materiaalia, jonka halkaisija on yli 13
mm.
Pensasleikkuriisi on sovitettu valjaat.
kannattamaan koneen painoa oikealla puolellasi.
leikata. Tämä voi aiheuttaa terän pysähtymisen
hetkeksi ja nopean "töytäisyn" pois kohteesta, johon
se osui. Reaktio voi olla niin raju, että käyttäjä
menettää laitteen hallinnan. Terätöytäisy voi tapahtua
varoituksetta jos terä sotkeutuu, hidastuu tai sitoutuu.
Tämä tapahtuu todennäköisemmin alueilla, joissa
materiaalin leikkaantumista on vaikea nähdä.
Lähesty leikattavia rikkakasveja oikealta vasemmalle
käytön helppouden ja turvallisuuden vuoksi. Jos
odottamaton esine tai puinen osa ilmenee, tämän
tekemällä terätöytäisyreaktiota voi minimoida.
Molempia käsiä tulee käyttää koko ajan tuotteen
hallitsemiseksi.

Vie laturi valtuutettuun huoltoliikkeeseen
tarkastettavaksi tai korjattavaksi.
Älä pura laturia. Vie se valtuutettuun huoltoliikkeeseen,
jos se vaatii huoltamista tai korjauksia. Virheellinen
kokoaminen voi aiheuttaa tulipalon, sähköiskun tai
tappavan sähköiskun.
Voit vähentää sähköiskun vaaraa irrottamalla laturin
virtalähteestä, ennen kuin yrität sen puhdistamista.
Yksinään akun poistaminen ei vähennä tätä vaaraa.
AKKUA KOSKEVAT ISÄTURVAOHJEET
Työkalun akku toimitetaan alhaisen latauksen tilassa.
Sinun tulee ladata akku täyteen ennen laitteen
