Thankyou for purchasing this product which has
passed through our extensive quality assurance
process. Every care has been taken to ensure that it
reaches you in perfect condition.
SAFETY FIRST
Before attempting to operate this power tool the
following basic safety precautions should always be
taken to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and
personal injury. It is important to read the instruction
manual to understand the application, limitations and
potential hazards associated with this tool.
CERTIFICATE OF GUARANTEE
This product is guaranteed for a period of 2 Years,
with effect from the date of purchase and applies only
to the original purchaser. This guarantee only applies
to defects arising from, defective materials and or
faulty workmanship that become evident during the
guarantee period only and does not include
consumable items. The manufacturer will repair or
replace the product at their discretion subject to the
following. That the product has been used in
accordance with the guide lines as detailed in the
product manual and that it has not been
subjected to misuse, abuse or used for a purpose for
which it was not intended. That it has not been taken
apart or tampered with in any way whatsoever or has
been serviced by unauthorised persons or has been
used for hire purposes. Transit damage is excluded
from this guarantee, for such damage the transport
company is responsible. Claims made under this
guarantee must be made in the first instance, directly
to the retailer within the guarantee period. Only under
exceptional circumstances should the product be
returned to the manufacturer. In these case it shall be
the consumer’s responsibility to return the product at
their cost ensuring that the product is adequately
packed to prevent transit damage and must be
accompanied with a brief description of the fault and
a copy of the receipt or other proof of purchase. The
manufacturer shall not be liable for any special,
exemplary, direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential
loss or damage under this guarantee. This guarantee
is in addition to and does not affect any rights, which
the consumer may have by virtue of the Sale of Goods
Act 1973 as amended 1975 and 1999.

your statutory rights.
PRODUCT DISPOSA
When this product reaches the end of it’s life or is
disposed of for any other reason, it must not be
disposed of in household waste. In order to preserve
natural resources, and to minimise adverse
environmental impact, please recycle or dispose of
this product in an environmentally friendly way. It
should be taken to your local waste recycling centre
or other authorised collection and disposal facility.
If in doubt consult your local waste authority for
information regarding available recycling and / or
disposal options.

This product is specifically designed to work with the
XA XCLICK range of batteries and charger.
SPECIFIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Usage of grass trimmer (the tool) always involves the
risk of accidents, therefore please observe the
relevant accident prevention instructions.
The tool has been constructed according to the latest
technology and in accordance with the recognized
technical safety regulations. Nevertheless, use of the
tool can involve risks to the user or the third persons,
and can cause damage to the tool or other objects.
WARNING! This tool is not intended for use by young
children or infirm persons unless they have been
adequately supervised by a responsible person to
ensure that they can use the tool safely. Young
children should be supervised to ensure that they do
not play with the tool.
WARNING! Using battery powered power tools, you
must observe following safety instructions to protect
yourself against electric shock, danger of injuries and
danger of fire.
Read all these instructions before using the grass
trimmer and observe strictly. Keep these safety
instructions at a safe place.
Use the tool in a safety conscious manner and for
suitable applications. Immediately rectify or have
rectified any faults which could adversely affect
safety!
This tool may cause serious injuries. Please read the
instruction manual carefully as to the correct handling,
the preparations, the maintenance and the proper use
of the grass trimmer. amiliarise yourself with the tool
before the first use and also have you introduced to
practical use of the tool.
The safety rules must be observed during tool use.
Before starting the tool, read the instructions
regarding personal safety and the safety of
unauthorised persons.
Keep the instructions in a good state for future use.
In order to reduce the risk, disconnect the plug from
the supply power, only use recommended accessories
as required, otherwise personal injury may result.

Periodically inspect the condition of the cutting head.
If the spool is damaged, switch off, remove the plug
from the power point and replace the spool.
Do not use the tool to cut grass, which is not on the
ground. or example, do not cut grass, which is on
walls or rocks.
Do not switch on the tool in enclosed or poorly
ventilated spaces or in the presence of inflammable
and /or explosive substances such as liquid, gases
and powders.
Always stop the trimmer and switch off at the mains
when cutting is delayed or when walking from one
cutting location to another.
Do not cross roads or gravel paths with tool still
running.
After use, disconnect the tool from the power supply
and check for damage. If you have the slightest
doubts, check with the authorised service centre.
Only use the tool according to the instructions give in
this manual.
Do not extend the trimming line beyond the guard and
do not operate the trimmer without both lines
extended and proper line installed.
Check regularly that the nuts, bolts and screws are
tight.
USING THE GRASS TRIMMER
When using the tool, always use caution and take on
a firm and well-balanced position.
Where possible, avoid working on wet, slippery
ground or in any case on uneven or steep ground that
does not guarantee stability for the operator.
Never run, but walk carefully paying attention to the
lay of the land and any eventual obstacles.
Assess the potential risks of the ground to be mown
and take all necessary precautions to ensure your own
safety, especially on slopes or on bumpy, slippery or
unstable ground.
Do not use the tool if you are unable to hold it with
both hands or keep it steady on your legs while
working.
Never allow children or persons unfamiliar with these
instructions to use the tool. Local regulations can
restrict the age of the user.
The tool must never be used by more than one
person.
Never use the tool:
When people, especially children or pets are in the
vicinity
If the user is tired or unwell, or has taken medicine,
drugs alcohol or any substances which may slow his
reflexes and compromise his judgement;
If the guards are damaged or have been removed.
ADDITIONA SAFETY RU ES CHARGERS
Before using the charger, read all the instructions and
cautionary markings on the charger and battery pack
as well as the instructions on using the battery pack.
Only charge your batteries indoors as the charger is
designed for indoor use only.
DANGER! If the battery pack is cracked or damaged
in any other way, do not insert it in the charger. There
is a danger of electric shock or electrocution.
WARNING! Do not allow any liquid to come into
contact with the charger. There is a danger of electric
shock.
The charger and battery packs supplied with it are
specifically designed to work together. Do not attempt
to charge the battery pack with any other charger than
the one supplied.
Do not pull on the power cord to disconnect it from
the mains supply socket.
Do not use the charger if it has been subjected to a
heavy knock, dropped or otherwise damaged in any
way. Take the charger to an authorised service centre
for a check or repair.
Do not disassemble the charger. Take it to an
authorised service centre when service or repair is
required. Incorrect re-assembly may result in the risk
of fire, electric shock or electrocution.
To reduce the risk of an electric shock, unplug the
charger from the power supply before attempting to
clean it. Removing the battery alone does not reduce
the risk.
ADDITIONA SAFETY RU ES FOR THE BATTERY
PACK
The battery pack for this tool has been shipped in a
low charge condition. You should charge the battery
pack fully before use.
Do not incinerate the battery pack even if it is
seriously damaged or can no longer hold a charge.
The battery pack can explode in a fire.
A small leakage of liquid from the battery pack may
occur under extreme usage or temperature conditions.
This does not necessarily indicate a failure of the
battery pack. However, if the outer seal is broken and
this leakage comes into contact with your skin wash
the affected area quickly with soap and water. If the
leakage gets in your eyes flush your eyes with clean
water for a minimum of 10 minutes and seek
immediate medical attention.
Inform the medical staff that the liquid is a 25-35%
solution of potassium hydroxide.
Never attempt to open the battery pack for any
reason. If the plastic housing of the battery pack
breaks open or cracks, immediately discontinue its
use and do not recharge it.

Do not store or carry a spare battery pack in a pocket
or toolbox or any other place where it may come into
contact with metal objects. The battery pack may be
short- circuited causing damage to the battery pack,
burns or a fire.
BATTERY CHARGING INFORMATION
Charging rates for NiCad and/or Li-Ion NiCad and/or
Li-Ion battery charging rates are determined by the
time taken to fully charge the battery and are
determined by the charge current. The three most
commonly used charging rates are typically:
ast charge.
Slow charge.
Trickle charge.
FAST CHARGE BATTERIES
The charging rates for fast charge batteries can vary
between 30 minutes and 90 minutes. The charging
rate for the battery supplied with a cordless power
tool is stated in the product manual.
S OW CHARGE BATTERY
The charging rates for slow charge batteries are
between 3 hours and 5 hours..
TRICK E CHARGE BATTERIES
The charging rates for trickle charge batteries are
between 7 hours and 9 hours.
IMPORTANT!
NICAD AND/OR I-ION BATTERY CHARGING
INFORMATION.

EXCEED THE CHARGING RATE TIME, EXCEPT
WHEN “CONDITIONING” A NEW BATTERY.
CHARGING PROCEDURE
When charging a new NiCad and/or Li-Ion battery it
should be fully discharged followed by a full charge
for the charging rate for the battery as stated in the
product manual plus 30 minutes. This should then be
followed by a full discharge and a further full charge
for the charging rate for the battery as stated in the
product manual plus 30 minutes. This procedure will
condition the battery and equalise the cell voltages.
ollowing this procedure will ensure the optimum
operation of the battery.
When repeatedly using the charger to charge a
number of batteries always allow the charger to cool
down before charging another battery. It is
recommended that the cooling down period is not
less than 30 to 45 minutes.
When charging a battery that has been discharged
during heavy use allow the battery to cool down
before charging. It is recommended that the cooling
down period is not less than 30 to 45 minutes.
NICAD AND/OR I-ION CHARGING & CHARGERS
NiCad and/or Li-Ion batteries need to be recharged
with a reasonable amount of care, largely because
they can be damaged by overcharging.
Overcharging can result in the battery temperature
and internal pressure to rise rapidly. This can cause
the cells to distort and lose electrolyte, and in extreme
cases where the internal pressure is extremely high
they can even explode.
This situation can also arise when an overcharged
battery is fitted to the product and is being used. In
order to avoid this extreme situation it is of vital
importance that NiCad and/or Li-Ion batteries are fully
discharged before charging and that the charge time
is not exceeded except when “Conditioning” a new
battery. Repeated charging of partially discharged
batteries could cause failure of one or more of the
cells.
SE F DISCHARGE
A lithium battery can self discharge and lose its stored
charge. Typically it can lose approximately 5% of its
charge in the first month after fully charging (when
stored at room temperature), and then loses it by a
further 3% per month. When stored at higher
temperatures the self discharge rate will be
accelerated.
BATTERY CHARGING INDOORS
This charger is designed to be used indoors. We do
not recommend that it is used inside your home.
Ideally batteries should be charged on a bench in a
workshop, garage or shed. If the charging operation is
to be carried out in your home the area must be well
ventilated and the charger must be placed on a non
combustible surface ensuring that the ventilation slots
are not blocked. Never exceed the charging time
except when “Conditioning” a new battery, as this
could damage the battery and charger.
BATTERY DISPOSA
When the battery fails to charge or maintain its
charge, its usable life is exhausted. To preserve
natural resources, please recycle or dispose of the
battery pack properly. This battery pack contains
nickel-cadmium cells. Before disposal ensure that the
battery pack is fully discharged by operating your
cordless product then remove the battery pack from
the drill housing and cover the battery pack
connections with heavy duty tape, to prevent short
circuit and energy discharge which could result in a
fire. Do not attempt to open or remove any of the
components.
Consult your local waste authority for information
regarding available recycling and / or disposal
options.

SPECIFIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
RE-CHARGEAB E BATTERIES.
Batteries may leak or explode if not charged or
handled correctly. Always observe the following
precautions when handling batteries. Ensure that the
machine is switched off before removing or fitting
batteries.
Do not use this battery with any other product.
Do not attempt to fit the battery the wrong way round.
Do not short out, or attempt to dismantle the battery.
Do not expose the battery to flames or excessive
heat.
Do not immerse in or expose the battery to water.
Do not store or transport the battery with loose metal
objects such drill and driver bits.
Batteries are prone to leakage when discharged. To
avoid damage to the product, remove or
re-charge the battery when no charge remains. Store
the battery in a cool place when not in use.
After prolonged use the battery may become hot.
Before removing the battery, switch the machine off
and allow the battery to cool down. Do not use the
battery if you notice any discoloration or distortion of
the battery casing.

fire and/or serious injury. The term "power tool" in all
of the warnings listed below refers to your mains
operated (corded) power tool or battery operated
(cordless) power tool.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
1) WORK AREA
a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and
dark areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive
atmospheres, such as in the presence of
flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools
create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while
operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you
to lose control.
2) E ECTRICA SAFETY
a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never
modify the plug in any way. Do not use any
adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power
tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will
reduce risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded
surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and
refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric
shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet
conditions. Water entering a power tool will
increase the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for
carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool.
Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or
moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords
increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an
extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a
cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of
electric shock.
3) PERSONA SAFETY
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use
common sense when operating a power tool. Do
not use a power tool while you are tired or under
the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.
A moment of inattention while operating power
tools may result in serious personal injury.
b) Use safety equipment. Always wear eye
protection. Safety equipment such as dust mask,
non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing
protection used for appropriate conditions will
reduce personal injuries.
c) Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in
the off position before plugging in. Carrying power
tools with your finger on the switch or plugging in
power tools that have the switch on invites
accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before
turning the power tool on.
A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part
of the power tool may result in personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and
balance at all times. This enables better control of
the power tool in unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or
jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves
away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery
or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust
extraction and collection facilities, ensure these
are connected and properly used. Use of these
devices can reduce dust related hazards.
4) POWER TOO USE AND CARE
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct
power tool for your application. The correct power
tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for
which it was designed.

b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not
turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be
controlled with the switch is dangerous and must
be repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source before
making any adjustments, changing accessories, or
storing power tools. Such preventive safety
measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool
accidentally.
d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children
and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power
tool or these instructions to operate the power tool.
Power tools are dangerous in the hands of
untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or
binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any
other condition that may affect the power tools
operation. If damaged, have the power tool
repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by
poorly maintained power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly
maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges
are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc.,
in accordance with these instructions and in the
manner intended for the particular type of power
tool, taking into account the working conditions and
the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for
operations different from intended could result in a
hazardous situation.
5) BATTERY TOO USE AND CARE
a) Recharge only with the charger specified by the
manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one
type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when
used with another battery pack.
b) Use power tools only with specifically designated
battery packs. Use of any other battery packs may
create a risk of injury and fire.
c) When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from
other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys,
nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can
make a connection from one terminal to another.
Shorting the battery terminals together may cause
burns or a fire.
d) Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected
from the battery; avoid contact. If contact
accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid
contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help.
Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation
or burns.
6) SERVICE
a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair
person using only identical replacement parts. This
will ensure that the safety of the power tool is
maintained.
COMPONENTS & CONTRO S (FIG.1)
UNPACKING
Caution! This packaging contains sharp objects. Take
care when unpacking. Remove the machine, together
with the accessories supplied, from the packaging.
Check carefully to ensure that the machine is in good
condition and account for all the accessories listed in
this manual. Also make sure that all the accessories
are complete. If any parts are found to be missing, the
machine and its accessories should be returned
together in their original packaging to the retailer.
Do not throw the packaging away, keep it safe
throughout the guarantee period, then recycle if
possible, otherwise dispose of it by the proper means.
Do not let children play with empty plastic bags due to
the risk of suffocation.
CHARGING THE BATTERY PACK
Warning! Only charge in compatible 18V chargers. Use
of other chargers may result in fire, damage or serious
personal injury.
The battery pack for this tool has been shipped in a
low charge condition to prevent possible problems.
Therefore, you should charge it until the green LED on
the front right hand side of the charger comes on.
Note: Batteries will not reach full charge the first time
they are charged. Allow several cycles (operation
followed by recharging) for them to become fully
charged.

Plug the charger into a standard 230V~50Hz mains
socket outlet, the green LED on the front left hand side
of the charger will illuminate.
Do not allow the cable to become knotted or kinked.
Place the battery pack into the charger base.
(Note the battery has raised ribs which allows it to fit
into the charger only one way). Time the charge for 60
minutes only.

The red LED on the front right hand side of the
charger will illuminate to indicate charging is in
progress. A green LED will illuminate when the battery
is fully charged.
Unplug the charger when not in use and store it in a
suitable storage cabinet.
Avoid charging your battery in freezing conditions as
charging power will not be sufficient.
When charging more than one battery pack in
succession allow at least 30 minutes for the charger
to cool down before charging an additional battery.
Always remove the battery pack and store it safely
when the tool is not in use.
Caution: If at any point during the charging process
none of the LEDs are lit, remove the battery pack from
the charger to avoid damaging the product. DO NOT
insert another battery.
CHARGE STATUS
To display the amount of charge left in the battery,
press the charge level indicator button, ig.2.
ASSEMB Y
Warning! To prevent accidental starting that could
cause serious personal injury, always remove the
battery pack from the product when assembling parts.
ATTACHING THE GUARD
Remove the battery pack. Invert the grass
trimmer/edger to access the trimmer head. Using a
Phillips head screwdriver, remove the pre-installed
screw from the trimmer head.
Place the guard on to the trimmer head so that the
large part of the guard sits to the rear, ig.3.
Align the screw hole on the guard with the screw hole
on the trimmer head. Insert the screw into the trimmer
head, fastening the guard in place, ig.4.
Remove the protective tape from the line cutting
blade, ig.5.
ADJUSTING THE AUXI IARY HAND E
To avoid injury, adjust the auxiliary handle for
optimum control and balance. Do not overreach when
operating grass trimmer/edger. Keep proper balance
at all times for better control of the tool in unexpected
situations.
The auxiliary handle can be moved either up and
down the shaft, forward and backwards or rotated
360º around the shaft. To find your optimum desired
position unlock the assist handle locking lever by
pulling outwards, ig.6. Once you have the desired
position relock the assist handle locking lever by
pushing inwards.
ADJUSTING THE SHAFT ENGTH
Loosen the lower part of the centre collar ( ig.7). This
will allow the lower part of the shaft to be extended or
retracted. When the shaft is at a comfortable length,
retighten the collar.
ROTATING THE SHAFT
The shaft can be rotated to the 0 or 180º position for
trimming and edging operations.
Pull the upper part of the centre collar ( ig.8). This will
allow the motor to be rotated between the 0 or 180º
position.
Note: The head will only lock in the 0 or 180º position.
ROTATING THE TRIMMER HEAD
The trimmer head can be rotated to the 0 or 90º
position for trimming and edging operations.
Press the Edger adjustment button, ig.9, and the
trimmer head will spring around 90º. Make sure it is
locked into place. To move the trimmer head back
simply press the Edger adjustment button again and
rotate back to its original position.
EXTENDING THE INE
To extend the line press the spool line extension
button on the spool, ig.10.
Warning! To prevent accidental starting that could
cause serious personal injury, always remove the
battery pack from the product when extending the
line.
ADJUSTING THE INE CUTTING B ADE
The cutting line can be set at two lengths (250 &
300mm). To adjust the line cutting blade turn the Line
cutting blade adjustment dial by pushing down and
rotating 180º, ig.11.

INSTA ING THE BATTERY PACK
Warning! Always remove battery pack from your tool
when you are assembling parts, making adjustments,
cleaning, carrying, transporting or when not in use.
Removing battery pack will prevent accidental starting
that could cause serious personal injury.
NOTE: To avoid serious personal injury, always
remove the battery pack and keep hands clear of the
lock-out button when carrying or transporting the tool.
Slide the battery pack into the tool base, ig 12. (Note
the battery has raised ribs which allows it to fit into
the tool only one way). Make sure the battery pack
snaps into place and that battery pack is secured in
the tool before beginning operation. Improper
installation of the battery pack can cause damage to
internal components.
REMOVING THE BATTERY PACK
Locate the battery release catch on the top of the
battery and press downwards, ig 13. Whilst holding
down the battery release catch slide the battery pack
away from the tool.
OPERATION
To avoid injury:
Do not squeeze the trigger while the grass
trimmer/edger is inverted.
Do not carry the grass trimmer/edger with your finger
on the switch. Avoid unintentional starting.
TURNING ON AND OFF
Press and hold the On/Off trigger lock-out button,
ig.14.
Depress the On/Off trigger, ig.15.
Caution: Always allow 5 seconds or more for the
cutting linespool to stop rotating after releasing the
trigger switch. Do not invert the grass trimmer/edger ,
or place your hands under the protective guard until
the grass trimmer/edger spool has come to a
complete stop.
PREPARING TO WORK
CHECKING THE TOO
Ensure that the battery is not inserted in its
compartment.
Before starting work please:
Check that the trigger switches and the safety switch
should move freely without forcing and return
automatically and rapidly back to their neutral
position;
Check that the cooling air vents are not obstructed;
Check that hand grips and protection devices are
clean and dry, correctly mounted and well fastened to
the tool;
Check that the tool is not showing signs of wear or
damage due to knocks or other causes, and carry out
the necessary repairs.
Check that the battery is in good working condition
and there are no signs of damage.
Never use the tool with a damaged or worn battery;

TRIMMING AND EDGING
or the most effective grass trimming, ensure the tool
is operating at full speed and then use slow shallow
sweeps of the line, ensuring that you do not overload
the tool by cutting too fast or cutting through heavy
terrain.
Make sure that the work area is free of rock, debris,
lines and other foreign objects.
Start the tool before approaching the grass to be cut.
Cut the grass by swinging the tool from right to left
and proceed slowly keeping the trimmer inclined
forwards at an angle of about 30º. Light cuts are
better than heavy cuts as they allow the cut grass to
fall away from the spool preventing the grass from
clogging the spool.
High grass should be cut in layers always beginning
from the top. Do not cut damp or wet grass. Do not
overload your tool.
Avoid wearing the line out quickly by knocking against
hard objects (stones, walls, fences etc).
Watch out for kickbacks in the events of impact with
hard objects.
After finishing the cutting operation, keep the head
close to ground level, release the trigger switch and
allow the motor to come to a complete stand still.
Place the trimmer on the ground, remove the battery.

Note. Periodically clean out the grass between the
spool and the rim of the guard to prevent the tool

MAINTENANCE
Warning! To prevent accidental starting that could

CEANING
Remove the battery pack. Brush or blow dust and
debris out of the air vents using compressed air or a
vacuum. Keep the air vents free of obstructions,
sawdust, and wood chips. Do not spray, wash, or
immerse the air vents in water.
Wipe off the housing and the plastic components
using a moist, soft cloth. Do not use strong solvents
or detergents on the plastic housing or plastic
components. Certain household cleaners may cause
damage, and may cause a shock hazard.
STORAGE
Clean the grass trimmer thoroughly before storing.
Store the grass trimmer in a dry, well-ventilated place
that is inaccessible to children. Keep away from
corrosive agents such as garden chemicals and de-
icing salts.
Always place blade cover on cutting blades before
storing.
Store and charge your batteries in a cool area.
Temperatures above or below normal room
temperature will shorten battery pack life.
Never store batteries in a discharged condition. Wait
for battery pack to cool and fully charge immediately.
All batteries gradually lose their charge. The higher the
temperature, the quicker they lose their charge. If you
store your unit for long periods of time without using
it, recharge the batteries every month or two. This
practice will prolong battery pack life.

Älä käynnistä työkalua suljetussa tai huonosti

Lataa akkuja vain sisätiloissa, sillä laturi on suunniteltu

sähköiskun tai tappavan sähköiskun vaaran.
VAROITUS! Älä päästä laturiin mitään nesteitä. Se

Laturi ja sen mukana toimitettu akku on varta vasten
valmistettu toimimaan yhdessä. Älä yritä ladata akkua

AKKUA KOSKEVAT ISÄTURVAOHJEET

liuos kaliumhydroksidia.
Älä koskaan yritä avata akkua mistään syystä. Jos
akun muovinen kotelo rikkoutuu tai murtuu, lopeta heti
akun käyttö, äläkä lataa sitä enää uudelleen.
Älä säilytä tai kuljeta vara-akkua taskussa,
työkalulaatikossa tai muussa paikassa, jossa se
pääsee kosketuksiin metalliesineiden kanssa. Akku voi
joutua oikosulkuun, joka vaurioittaa akkua, aiheuttaa
palovammoja tai tulipalon.
TIETOA AKUN ATAAMISESTA
NiCad ja/tai Li-ion NiCad ja/tai Li-Ion-akkujen
lataustehot määrittää aika, jonka akun täyteen

Hitaasti ladattavien akkujen latausaika on 3 tunnin ja 5
tunnin välillä.

Akkujen ylläpitolatauksen latausaika on 7 tunnin ja 9
tunnin välillä.

ATAUSMENETTE Y
Ladattaessa uutta NiCad- ja/tai Li-Ion-akkua, se tulee
purkaa aivan tyhjäksi ja ladata sen jälkeen aivan
täyteen akun latausajan mukaisesti, joka on ilmoitettu
tuotteen käyttöoppaassa plus 30 minuuttia. Tämän
jälkeen se tulee purkaa uudelleen aivan tyhjäksi ja
ladata sen jälkeen uudelleen aivan täyteen akun

NICAD- JA/TAI I-ION-AKKUJEN ATAAMINEN JA
ATURIT
NiCad- ja/tai Li-Ion-akkujen lataus on tehtävä
huolellisesti, koska ylilataaminen voi vaurioittaa niitä.
Ylilataus voi nostaa akun lämpötilaa ja sisäinen paine
voi nousta äkisti. Tämä voi aiheuttaa kennojen

ITSEPURKAUS
Litiumakku voi purkautua itsestään ja menettää
ladatun varauksen. Yleensä akku menettää noin 5 %
latauksesta ensimmäisen kuukauden aikana täyteen
lataamisen jälkeen (säilytettäessä huonelämpötilassa)
ja sen jälkeen 3 % kuukaudessa. Jos akkua
säilytetään korkeammassa lämpötilassa, itsepurkaus
nopeutuu.
AKUN ATAAMINEN SISÄTI OISSA

b) Älä käytä työkaluja ympäristöissä, joissa on
räjähdysvaara, kuten helposti syttyvien nesteiden,
kaasujen tai pölyn läsnä ollessa. Työkalut
synnyttävät kipinöitä, jotka voivat sytyttää pölyn tai
höyryt tuleen.
c) Pidä lapset ja sivulliset poissa työkalua
käytettäessä. Häiriötekijät voivat haitata
keskittymistä.
2) SAHKÖTURVA ISUUS
a) Sähkötyökalun pistokkeiden tulee vastata
pistorasiaa. Älä koskaan muuta pistoketta millään
tavalla. Älä käytä sovitinpistokkeita maadoitettujen
sähkötyökalujen kanssa. Muuttamattomat
pistokkeet ja yhteensopivat pistorasiat vähentävät
sähköiskun vaaraa.
b) Vältä vartalokosketusta maadoitettuihin pintoihin
kuten putkiin, lämmittimiin, liesiin tai jääkaappeihin.
Sähköiskun vaara kasvaa, josvartalosi on
maadoitettu.
c) Suojaa sähkötyökalut sateelta ja kosteudelta.
Sähkötyökalun sisään päässyt vesi lisää
sähköiskun vaaraa.
d) Älä käytä johtoa väärin. Älä koskaan käytä johtoa
sähkötyökalun kantamiseen, vetämiseen tai
irrottamiseen pistorasiasta. Pidä johto kaukana
lämmöstä, öljystä, terävistä reunoista ja liikkuvista
osista. Vaurioituneet tai sotkeutuneet johdot
lisäävät sähköiskun vaaraa.
e) Kun sähkötyökalua käytetään ulkotiloissa, käytä
jatkojohtoa, joka soveltuu ulkokäyttöön.
Ulkokäyttöön sopivan johdon käyttö vähentää
sähköiskun vaaraa.
3) HENKI ÖTURVA ISUUS
a) Pysy valppaana, katso mitä teet ja käytä tervettä
järkeä käyttäessäsi työkalu. Älä käytä työkalu
ollessasi väsynyt tai huumeiden, alkoholin tai
lääkkeiden vaikutuksen alaisena. Hetkellinen
epähuomio työkalu käytettäessä voi johtaa
vakaviin henkilövammoihin.
b) Käytä suojavarustusta. Käytä aina suojalaseja.
Turvavarustus kuten hengityssuojain,
liukumattomat turvajalkineet, suojakypärä tai
kuulosuojain käytettynä asianmukaisissa
olosuhteissa vähentää henkilövammoja.
c) Vältä vahinkokäynnistyksiä. Varmista, että kytkin
on off-asennossa (sammutettuna) ennen virran
kytkemistä. Työkalun kantaminen sormi kytkimellä
tai virran kytkeminen päälle työkaluihin, joiden
kytkin on päällä, voi aiheuttaa onnettomuuksia.
d) Poista säätöavaimet tai jakoavaimet ennen
työkalun käynnistämistä. Jako- tai muu avain, joka
on jätetty kiinni työkalun pyörivään osaan voi
aiheuttaa henkilövamman.
e) Älä kurkottele. Pidä asianmukainen jalansija ja
tasapaino kaiken aikaa. Tämä mahdollistaa
työkalun paremman hallinnanodottamattomissa
tilanteissa.
f) Pukeudu asianmukaisesti. Älä pidä löysiä vaatteita
tai koruja. Pidä hiuksesi, vaatteesi ja käsineesi
poissa liikkuvista osista. Löysät vaatteet, korut tai
pitkä tukka voivat jäädä kiinni liikkuviin osiin.
g) Jos pölynpoistoon tai keräyslaitteisiin kytkettäviä
laitteita on toimitettu, varmista, että ne on kytketty
ja niitä käytetään asianmukaisesti. Näiden
laitteiden käyttö voi vähentää pölyyn liittyviä
vaaroja.
4) TYÖKA UN KÄYTTÖ JA HUO TO
a) Älä käytä voimaa työkaluun. Käytä
käyttötarkoitukseesi soveltuvaa työkalua.
Asianmukainen työkalu toimii paremmin ja
turvallisemmin teholla, jolla se on suunniteltu.
b) Älä käytä työkalua, jos kytkin ei käännä sitä päälle
ja pois päältä. Työkalu, jota ei voida kontrolloida
kytkimestä on vaarallinen, ja se tulee korjata.
c) Säilytä seisovat työkalut poissa lasten ulottuvilta,
äläkä anna henkilöiden, jotka eivät tunne työkalua
tai näitä ohjeita, käyttää työkalua. Työkalut ovat
vaarallisia kouluttamattomien käyttäjien käsissä.
d) Pidä työkalut kunnossa. Tarkasta liikkuvien osien
kohdistusvirheet tai kiinnitykset, osien murtumat ja
muut seikat, jotka voivat vaikuttaa sähkötyökalujen
käyttöön. Jos työkalu on vaurioitunut, korjauta se
ennen käyttöä. Monet onnettomuudet aiheutuvat
huonosti kunnossapidetyistä työkaluista.
e) Pidä leikkaustyökalut terävinä ja puhtaina.
Asianmukaisesti kunnossapidetyt leikkaustyökalut,
joissa on terävät leikkausreunat, eivät juutu
helposti ja niiden käsittely on helpompaa.

f) Käytä työkalua, lisävarusteita ja työkalupaloja tms.
näiden ohjeiden mukaisesti ja tavalla, johon
kyseessä oleva sähkötyökalu on tarkoitettu, ottaen
huomioon työolosuhteet ja suoritettava työ.
Työkalun käyttö toimintoihin, joihin sitä ei ole
tarkoitettu, voi johtaa vaaralliseen tilanteeseen.
5) AKKUTYÖKA UN KÄYTTÖ JA HUO TO
a) Lataa vain valmistajan määrittämällä laturilla.
Yhdentyyppisen akun kanssa sopiva laturi voi
aiheuttaa palovaaran, jos sitä käytetään
toisentyyppisen akun kanssa.
b) Käytä sähkötyökaluja vain määritettyjen akkujen
kanssa. Muiden akkujen käyttäminen voi aiheuttaa
henkilövahingon tai tulipalovaaran.
c) Kun akku ei ole käytössä, pidä se erillään muista
metalliesineistä, kuten paperiliittimistä, kolikoista,
avaimista, nauloista, ruuveista tai muista pienistä
metalliesineistä, jotka voivat muodostaa kytkennän
navasta toiseen. Oikosulun luominen akun napojen
välille voi aiheuttaa palovammoja tai tulipalon.
d) Sopimattomissa olosuhteissa akusta voi vuotaa
nestettä; vältä kosketusta. Jos vahingossa altistut
nesteelle, huuhtele vedellä. Jos nestettä pääsee
silmiin, hakeudu lisäksi lääkärin hoitoon. Akusta
vuotanut neste voi aiheuttaa ärsytystä tai
palovammoja.
6) HUO TO
a) Jätä työkalun huolto pätevälle korjaajalle, joka
käyttää ainoastaan täsmälleen samanlaisia
varaosia. Näin varmistetaan, että työkalun
turvallisuus säilyy.
OSAT JA SÄÄTIMET (KUVA 1)
PAKKAUKSESTA PURKU
Huomio! Tämä pakkaus sisältää teräviä osia. Ole
varovainen pakkausta purkaessasi. Poista laite sekä
mukana olevat tarvikkeet pakkauksesta. Tarkista
huolellisesti, että laite on hyvässä kunnossa ja kaikki
käyttöoppaassa luetellut tarvikkeet ovat mukana.
Varmista myös, että kaikki tarvikkeet ovat täydellisiä.
Jos jokin osa puuttuu, laite ja tarvikkeet tulee palauttaa
alkuperäisessä pakkauksessa jälleenmyyjälle.
Älä heitä pakkausta pois, pidä se tallessa koko
takuuajan ja kierrätä sen jälkeen, mikäli mahdollista,
muutoin hävitä se asianmukaisella tavalla. Älä anna
lasten leikkiä tyhjillä muovipusseilla tukehtumisvaaran
takia.
AKUN ATAAMINEN
Varoitus! Lataa vain 18 V:n yhteensopivilla latureilla.
Muiden latureiden käyttö voi aiheuttaa tulipalon,
vaurioita tai vakavan henkilövahingon.
Työkalun akku toimitetaan alhaisen latauksen tilassa,
jotta estetään mahdolliset ongelmat. Tästä syystä
akkua täytyy ladata, kunnes laturin oikealla puolella
oleva vihreä LED-valo syttyy.
Huomautus: Akut eivät saavuta täyttä latausta
ensimmäisellä latauskerralla. Kestää useita
tyhjentymiskertoja (uudelleenlatauksen jälkeen) ennen
kuin ne lataantuvat täyteen.
Lue ensin turvallisuusohjeet ja noudata sitten
latausohjeita.
Yhdistä laturi normaaliin 230 V:n, 50 Hz:n pistorasiaan.
Vihreä LED-valo laturin edessä vasemmalla syttyy.
Älä anna kaapelin mennä solmuun tai kiertyä.
Aseta akku laturin pohjaan.
(Huomioi, että akussa on koholla olevat liitäntäpiikit,
joten akku sopii laturiin vain yhdellä tavalla). Latausaika
on vain 60 minuuttia.
Punainen LED-valo laturin edessä oikealla palaa
ilmaisten latauksen olevan käynnissä. Vihreä LED-valo
ilmaisee akun olevan täyteen ladattu.
Irrota laturi pistorasiasta, kun sitä ei käytetä ja säilytä
se sopivassa säilytyspaikassa.
Vältä akun lataamista pakkasta vastaavissa
lämpötiloissa, koska latausteho ei ole silloin riittävä.
Jos lataat useamman kuin yhden akun peräkkäin, anna
laturin jäähtyä vähintään 30 minuuttia aina ennen
seuraavan akun lataamista.
Poista akku ja säilytä se turvallisesti, kun työkalu ei ole
käytössä.
Huomio: Jos jossakin kohtaa latausta mikään LED-valo
ei pala, poista akku laturista laitteen vaurioitumisen
välttämiseksi. ÄLÄ aseta laturiin toista akkua.

KOKOAMINEN
Varoitus! Poista aina akku tuotteesta ennen osien
kokoamista estääksesi tahattomat käynnistymiset,
jotka voivat aiheuttaa vakavan henkilövahingon.
SUOJUKSEN KIINNITTÄMINEN
Poista akku. Käännä ruohotrimmeri/reunaleikkuri
ympäri, jotta pääset käsiksi trimmeripäähän. Käytä
ristipääruuvimeisseliä ja poista esiasennettu ruuvi
trimmeripäästä.
Aseta suojus trimmeripäähän siten, että suurin osa
suojuksesta asettuu taakse, kuva 3.
Kohdista suojuksen ruuvin reikä trimmeripään ruuvin
reikään. Työnnä ruuvi trimmeripäähän ja kiinnitä
suojus paikoilleen, kuva 4.
Irrota suojateippi siimaleikkuuterän päältä, kuva 5.
APUKAHVAN SÄÄTÄMINEN
Säädä apukahva paikoilleen optimaalisen ohjaamisen
ja tasapainon takia ja loukkaantumisten välttämiseksi.
Älä kurottele, kun käytät
ruohotrimmeriä/reunaleikkuria. Pidä aina kunnollinen
tasapaino, jotta voit ohjata työkalua odottamattomissa
tilanteissa.
Apukahvaa voidaan siirtää varressa ylöspäin tai
alaspäin, eteenpäin ja taaksepäin tai kääntää 360
astetta varren ympäri. Optimaalisen asennon
löytämiseksi vapauta apukahva vetämällä lukitusvipua
ulospäin, kuva 6. Kun olet saanut sen haluamaasi
asentoon, lukitse apukahva työntämällä lukitusvipua
sisäänpäin.
VARREN PITUUDEN SÄÄTÄMINEN
Löysää alempaa osaa keskiholkista (kuva 7). Tämä
mahdollistaa varren alemman osan pidentämisen tai
lyhentämisen. Kun varsi on sopivan pituinen, kiristä
holkki uudelleen.
VARREN KIERTÄMINEN
Vartta voidaan kääntää 0° tai 180° leikkaus ja reunojen
siistimistoimenpiteitä varten.
Vedä ylempää osaa keskiholkista (kuva 8). Tämä
mahdollistaa moottorin kiertämisen 0° ja 180° välillä.
Huomautus: Pää lukittuu ainoastaan 0° tai 180°
asentoon.
TRIMMERIPÄÄN KIERTÄMINEN
Trimmeripäätä voidaan kääntää 0° tai 90° leikkaus ja
reunojen siistimistoimenpiteitä varten.
Paina reunaleikkurin säätöpainiketta, kuva 9.
Trimmeripää ponnahtaa noin 90 . Varmista, että se
lukittuu paikoilleen. Voit siirtää trimmeripään takaisin
painamalla reunaleikkurin säätöpainiketta uudelleen ja
kiertämällä pään takaisin alkuperäiseen asentoon.
SIIMAN PIDENTÄMINEN
Pidennä siimaa painamalla kelan siiman
pidennyspainiketta, kuva 10.
Varoitus! Poista aina akku tuotteesta, kun pidennät
siimaa estääksesi tahattomat käynnistymiset, jotka
voivat aiheuttaa vakavan henkilövahingon.
SIIMA EIKKUUTERÄN SÄÄTÄMINEN
Leikkuusiima voidaan asettaa kahteen pituuteen (250
ja 300 mm). Säädä siimaleikkuuterää kääntämällä
siimaleikkuuterän säätökiekkoa painamalla se alas ja
kiertämällä 180°, kuva 11.
AKUN ASENTAMINEN
Varoitus! Poista akku aina työkalusta, kun asennat
osia, teet säätöjä, puhdistat, kannat tai kuljetat laitetta
tai kun laite ei ole käytössä. Akun poistaminen estää
tahattomat käynnistymiset, jotka voivat aiheuttaa
vakavan henkilövahingon.
HUOMAUTUS: Poista akku aina vakavien
henkilövahinkojen välttämiseksi ja pidä kädet poissa
käynnistyspainikkeelta, kun kannat tai kuljetat
työkalua.
Liu'uta akku oksasahan pohjalle, kuten kuvassa 12.
(Huomioi, että akussa on koholla olevat liitäntäpiikit,
joten akku sopii oksasahaan vain yhdellä tavalla).
Varmista, että akku napsahtaa paikoilleen ja akku
pysyy kunnolla kiinni työkalussa ennen kuin aloitat
työskentelyn. Akun virheellinen asentaminen voi
aiheuttaa vaurioita laitteen sisäisille osille.

AKUN POISTAMINEN
Etsi akun vapautussalpa sen päältä ja paina alaspäin,
kuva 13. Kun pidät akun vapautussalpaa painettuna,
liu'uta akku irti porasta.
KÄYTTÖ
Loukkaantumisten välttämiseksi:
Älä purista liipaisinta, kun ruohotrimmeri/reunaleikkuri
on käännettynä.
Älä kanna kytkettyä ruohotrimmeriä/reunaleikkuria
sormi kytkimellä. Vältä tahatonta käynnistystä.
VIRRAN KYTKEMINEN PÄÄ E JA POIS PÄÄ TÄ
Paina ja pidä liipaisinkäynnistintä, kuva 14.
Vapauta liipaisinkäynnistin, kuva 15.
Huomio: Odota aina vähintään 5 sekuntia, jotta
leikkuusiima lopettaa pyörimisen liipaisimen
vapauttamisen jälkeen. Älä käännä
ruohotrimmeriä/reunaleikkuria tai aseta käsiäsi
turvasuojuksen alle ennen kuin
ruoholeikkurin/reunaleikkurin kela on pysähtynyt
täydellisesti.
TYÖN VA MISTE U
TYÖKA UN TARKISTAMINEN
Varmista, että akkua ei ole laitettu paikoilleen
lokeroon.
Ennen käynnistämistä:
Tarkista, että liipaisinkytkin ja turvakytkin liikkuvat
vapaasti ilman pakottamista ja palautuvat
automaattisesti ja nopeasti takaisin alkuasentoihinsa.
Tarkista, että tuuletusaukot eivät ole estettyinä.
Tarkista, että kahvat ja suojalaitteet ovat puhtaat ja
kuivat, asennettu oikein ja kiinnitetty kunnolla
työkaluun.
Tarkista, ettei työkalussa ole merkkejä kulumisesta tai
vaurioista iskujen tai muiden syiden takia ja tee
tarvittavat korjaukset.
Tarkista, että akku on hyvässä toimintakunnossa, eikä
siinä ole merkkejä vaurioista.
Älä koskaan käytä työkalua, jonka akku on
vaurioitunut tai kulunut.
Vaihda akku lataamisosion ohjeiden mukaan.
EIKKAAMINEN JA REUNOJEN RAJAAMINEN
Saat parhaan tehon ruohotrimmeristä, kun käytät
työkalua täydellä nopeudella ja pyyhkivin liikkein.
Varmista, että et ylikuormita työkalua leikkaamalla liian
nopeasti tai vaikeassa maastossa.
Varmista, että työskentelyalueella ei ole kiviä, roskia,
vaijereita tai muita vieraita esineitä.
Käynnistä työkalu ennen kuin aseta sen ruohoon.
Leikkaa ruohoa heiluttelemalla työkalua oikealta
vasemmalle ja etene hitaasti, pitäen trimmeriä noin 30
asteen kulmassa kallistettuna eteenpäin. Kevyesti
leikkaaminen on parasta, koska silloin ruoho ehtii
tippua kelasta ja näin estetään kelan tukkeutuminen
ruohosta.
Korkea ruoho tulee leikata kerroksittain latvasta
alkaen. Älä leikkaa kosteaa tai märkää ruohoa. Älä
ylikuormita työkalua.
Vältä siiman nopeaa kulumista, jos napautat sitä kovia
kohteita vasten (kivet, seinät, aidat jne.)
Varo takapotkuja työkalun osuessa koviin kohteisiin.
Kun lopetat leikkaamisen, pidä leikkuupää lähellä
maanpintaa, vapauta liipaisin ja anna moottorin
pysähtyä täysin. Aseta trimmeri maahan ja poista
akku.
Rajaa reunoja pyörittämällä moottorin päätä.
Huomautus. Puhdista ruoho kelan ja suojuksen välistä
säännöllisesti tärinän välttämiseksi.
KUNNOSSAPITO
Varoitus! Poista aina akku tuotteesta ennen
säätämistä, tarkastamista ja puhdistamista estääksesi
tahattomat käynnistymiset, jotka voivat aiheuttaa
vakavan henkilövahingon.
Älä pura työkalua tai tee mitään korjauksia. Vie
trimmeri ja laturi huollettavaksi ja korjattavaksi
valtuutettuun huoltoliikkeeseen.
PUHDISTUS
Poista akku. Harjaa tai puhalla pölyt ja roskat
ilmanvaihtoaukoista käyttäen paineilmaa tai imuria.
Pidä ilmanvaihtoaukot esteettöminä, vapaina
sahanpurusta ja puunsiruista. Älä suihkuta, pese tai
upota ilmanvaihtoaukkoja veteen.
Pyyhi kotelo ja muoviosat käyttäen kosteaa, pehmeää
liinaa. Älä käytä voimakkaita liuottimia tai
puhdistusaineita muoviseen runkoon tai muovisiin
osiin. Tietyt kotien puhdistusaineet voivat aiheuttaa
vaurioita ja sähköiskuja.
SÄI YTYS
Puhdista ruohotrimmeri huolellisesti ennen varastoon
laittamista. Säilytä ruohotrimmeri kuivassa, hyvin
ilmastoidussa paikassa, johon lapset eivät pääse. Pidä
loitolla korroosiota aiheuttavista aineista kuten
puutarhakemikaalit ja tiesuolat.
Aseta terän suojus aina leikkuuterien päälle ennen
varastoon laittamista.
Säilytä ja lataa akut viileässä paikassa. Lämpötilat,
jotka ovat normaalin huonelämpötilan alle tai yli
lyhentävät akun käyttöikää.
Älä koskaan säilytä akkuja purettuina. Odota akun
jäähtymistä ja lataa akku välittömästi täyteen.
Kaikki akut menettävät vähitellen varauksensa. Mitä
korkeampi lämpötila, sitä nopeammin ne menettävät
varauksen. Jos säilytät laitetta pitkiä aikoja
käyttämättä sitä, lataa akut kuukauden tai kahden
välein. Tämä käytäntö pidentää akkujen käyttöikää.
