1. Operation and service
1.1. Heater characteristics
Hot tap water heater is designed to heat water and store it in a heated state. It can be used to meet the needs of households in establishments catering,
public welfare establishments, etc. The heater is designed to work only in horizontal or vertical position, depending on the type. It can be connected to the
water supply at a pressure not exceeding 0,6 MPa - about 6 bar (in the case of tanks with capacity from 100 liters to 140 liters) and 1 MPa - about 10 bar (in
the case of tanks with capacity from 200 liters to 1500 liters).The water can be heated by the spiral wound heat exchanger which (i.e. high surface area coil)
connected to the central heating boiler. The basic model is a hot tap water heater with one coil (pt. 5.3; 5.5; 5.7). We oer water heaters with two spiral coils
(bivalent): one coil for the CH system and the other for the solar heating system (pt. 5.10; 5.12; 5.14). Lower coil cooperates with a solar collector, and the
top coil with the CH boiler or a heat pump.We oer hot tap water reservoirs (pt. 5.16; 5.18) and horizontal water heaters (pt. 5.18). Anticorrosion protection
is provided by a ceramic enamel burned at 850°C. Moreover, large magnesium anode acts as an extra protection. Heaters are insulated with ecological
polyurethane or polystyrene foam, which reduces heat loss to an absolute minimum.
1.2. Description
The main part of the heater is a tank in which the water is heated.The tank is made of a steel sheet, which is coated on the inside with ceramic enamel.
Technological holes in the bottoms of the tank are closed with stoppers. The tank is equipped with two coil connections; the cold water outlet and inlet
connections are located next to each other on one side of the tank. In addition, there is also provided an opening for connecting the circulation and the
sensor cover - to which the sensor can be connected with the boiler thermostat (tube 3/8”). The standing heaters 100 to 140 l in the top of the bottom
anode is located, which is placed on the stopper 5/4”. Tanks are from 200 to 1500 l, there are two magnesium anodes: one is arranged in the opening of
the manhole M8 screw and the other is at the top of the bottom on the heels of 5/4”(200 - 500 l), 2”(700 - 1500 l). Heaters are equipped with additional
connections (3/4„ capacity. 100-140 l and 1”capacity. 200 -1500 l) where you can install the drain valve .
In the SGW(S)B 200 , SGW(S) SLIM 200-300 , SGW(S)B 200-300 SLIM and SGW(S) horizontal 140-300 water heaters it is recommended to install a tee on
the cold water inlet as well as a the drain valve in order to properly drain the tank (pt. 2.3).
1.3. Venting the coil in horizontal heaters
For easier (simpler) venting of the spiral coil it is necessary to:
- put the tank in a vertical position (on the lid),
- close the return from the coil (f.ex. by using a ball valve),
- pour water or glycol solution into the coil (depending on the type of installation),
- close the coil's supply connection (f.ex. by using a ball valve),
- mount the tank on the frame (not included),
- connect the tank to the installation.
1.4. Installation
Connection of the water heater should be done by the installer with the appropriate permissions. The installation must be conrmed in the warranty card.
The heater must be installed in vertical or horizontal position depending on the type of the tank.
The heater should be connected directly to the water supply (with the possibility of disconnection, f.ex. in the case of maintenance) at a pressure not
exceeding 0,6 MPa (tanks with the capacity between 100 and 140 l) and 1,0 MPa - about 10 bar (tanks with the capacity between 200 and 1500 l) while the
minimum pressure shall be not less than 0,1 MPa (approx. 1 bar). If the water pressure in the mains supply exceeds 0,6 MPa tanks with the capacity between
100 and 140 l) and 1,0 MPa - about 10 bar (tanks with the capacity between 200 and 1500 l) the pressure must be reduced by the use of a pressure regulator.
Safety valve must be installed on the cold water supply pipe (f. ex. ZB4/ZB8 valves from FACH Cieszyn or ZB7/ZB9 valves from Orkla Spain) according to the
direction of the arrow located on the tank. The safety valve can reduce pressure without the water overowing to the supply installation (it opens the ow
of the dierential pressure in the heater and installation amounting to 0,07 0,03 MPa, which is why cold water supply pipe must withstand a temperature of
90°C up to 5 meters from the safety valve (because of the possibility of the ow of hot water from the tank into the installation). An outow opening in the
safety valve must be constantly connected to the open atmosphere. Before using the installation it is necessary to check all of the connections for leakage,

even those factory sealed.
The heater can work in an open system (pt. 2.1) or in a closed system including an expansion vessel (pt. 2.2). In winter, when there is a possibility of the water
freezing, the water should be drained by removing the drain plug Ks (pt. 2.1 and 2.2).
1.5. Remember
1. Before installation of the heater it is recommended to read the installation and user manual that comes with the device.
2. Do not start using a water heater that is not lled with water.
3. Do not operate the water heater without a fully operational relief valve (proper functioning of the relief valve must be checked every 14 days by turning
its cap left or right to induce an outow of water from a discharge port located on the side of the valve. Following that, turn the cap in the opposite
direction until it snaps in place and press down to the valve body. If there is not outow of water while turning the cap, the valve is not operational. A
continuous outow of water after returning the cap to its previous position indicates valve head contamination. In such a case, ush the valve several
times by turning the cap to open the outow of water. Caution - there is a possibility of hot water outow. The company will not be responsible for
improper functioning of the relief valve caused by wrong installation or errors within the system, e.g. missing a pressure reducing valve in the cold water
removal system. The maximum pressure of full opening of relief valve must not exceed 0,7 MPa (100-140 l water heaters) and 0,97 MPa (200-1500 l
water heaters).
4. If there is a cold water system, supplying it to the heater, check valve or other device functioning as a check valve such as a pressure reducer must be
installed in the water bulk expansion vessel with a capacity of at least 5 % of the capacity of the boiler.
5. Installations equipped with a water heater cannot include devices that cause a "hydraulic stroke", f.ex. a ball valve used as a drain valve.
6. Do not prevent water from dripping from the relief valve – do not plug the discharge port of the relief valve. If water continuously leaks from the
relief valve, it indicates that the water main system pressure is too high, or that the relief valve is defective. Discharge port of the relief valve should
be oriented downwards. It is recommended to place a funnel underneath the relief valve to collect and drain water. A hose can also be tted over the
discharge port to remove water owing when the relief valve is being opened. The hose should be heat resistant up to +80°C, with internal diameter
of 9 mm and max. length of 1,2 m, run to a drain with a downgrade (min. 3%) in an environment of temperature not lower than 0°C.The hose must be
protected against bottlenecking (squeezing, plugging) and its discharge end should be visible (in order to verify operation of the valve).
7. The water quality shall be in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Health of 29 March 2007.
8. Conductivity should not be less than 100 uS / cm, this will ensure the proper operation of the magnesium anode.
9. Immediately turn o the heater if the tap emits steam (it should be reported to the manufacturer or to a designated service).
10. Continuous operation at a maximum temperature results in faster wear of electrical parts and the tank itself.
11. Adequate protection of the CH boiler connected to the tank ensures proper security of the water heater's spiral coils.
12. It is forbidden to connect the coil to the installation which does not meet one of the following standards: PN−91/B−02413 or PN−91/B−02414.
13. At least once every 12 months the water heater should be rinsed from the sediment.
14. Pollution lters should be used in order to extend the life of the tank and ensure the smooth operation of the safety valve.
15. „Galmet Sp. z o. o.”Sp. K. reserves the right to introduce any modication without prior notication.
16. Before starting operation of the heater, the user is required to read this document, it must be kept on-site and be accessible to the service.
17. The heating coil should be ushed by the installer before the rst use (besides, installing a lter is recommended to remove any impurities). If the
heating coil is not used (e.g. due to the use of an electric resistance heater), it must be completely lled with an appropriate glycol mixture in order to
prevent corrosion caused by condensed water. After lling, the heating coil must not be closed on both sides (thermal expansion of air).
18. The tank has an outer casing made of articial leather (skay, PVC foil), while the thermal insulation is made of polyurethane or polystyrene foam. It is
not allowed to manipulate open re directly next to the tank, as it may damage the outer casing as well as the thermal insulation
19. All maintenance and installation works must be performed in accordance with applicable health and safety regulations.
20. Unpleasant scents and darkening of the water from the heater may be the result of a hydrogen sulphide, which is formed by reducing the sulphate
content of bacteria that live in oxygen-free water. If cleaning the tank, replacing the magnesium anode and starting with a temperature above 60°C will
not yield result, we recommend using a titanium anode.

In order to drain the tank it is necessary to:
1. Close the cold water inlet before the valve or the relief group.
2. Open the„ZS”drain valve.
3. Open the hot water faucet so the air could ow through to the tank.

3. Troubleshooting
MALFUNCTION CAUSE METHOD OF REMOVAL
The relief valve does not open
(also at the attempt of blowing-
through).
-Relief valve is seized. -Clean or replace the valve.
Relief valve leaks. -The faying surface of the relief valve is
contaminated or damaged.
-Water pressure is too high.
-Clean or lap the faying surface of the relief valve.
-Use a pressure regulator.
DHW water is dirty. -Plenty of deposit in the tank, or the magne-
sium anode is used up.
-Clean the tank of any deposit, or replace the magnesium anode
(not covered by the warranty).

4.1. Pros of the titanium anode

NOTE ! Before installing the anode CORREX, remove existing protective magnesium anode.
1. Cable supplied bipolar, connecting the anode CORREX and potentiometer plug must not be lengthened.
2. A random change in polarity causes the acceleration of corrosion.
3. It is recommended to use the socket 230 V in a short distance from the tank.
4.2. Troubleshooting

ON - red colour -Lack of water in the tank.
-Cables between the electronic part and the
anode is connected incorrectly.

-The anode is contacted with the mass of
the tank.
-Fill the tank with water.
-Put the cables at the anode.
-Check and clean the rust all connections.
-Properly isolate the anode from the tank.
It is NECESSARY to use a dielectric connectors (made out of a plastic material - electrically nonconductive) between the hot and cold water
connections and the installation's connections in order to avoid iron-copper contact, also in case where the relief group is connected directly
to the tank. This extends the life of the water tank and prevents electrolysis phenomena, especially when the water is acidic (pH <7).
The symbol presented beside signies that it is prohibited to dispose of worn electrical and electronic devices together with other waste.
These products should be delivered to assigned waste collection points for waste processing. A proper recycling of electrical and electronic
devices helps to protect the natural environment and prevents negative impact on human health.
