CHECK PARTS RECEIVED. SCREW ANCHORS NOT SHOWN IN PHOTO.
THERE ARE THREE DISTINCT STEPS TO GETTING YOUR LIGHT INSTALLED AND WORKING PROPERLY.
#1 –INSTALL THE LIGHT & SOLAR PANEL, #2 –CHARGING THE BATTERY & #3 –ADJUSTING THE MOTION
SENSOR CONTROLS.
STEP #1: PLAN THE LOCATION AND INSTALL THE FLOOD LIGHT AND SOLAR PANEL. USE THE SUPPLIED
SCREWS (AND OPTIONAL SCREW ANCHORS, IF NEEDED)
-THE SOLAR PANEL HAS TO FACE SOUTH TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS.
- THE FLOOD LIGHT CAN FACE ANY DIRECTION AND CAN BE LOCATED UP TO A MAXIMUM OF 15 FEET
FROM THE SOLAR PANEL.
ADJUST THE FLOOD LIGHT’S ANGLE PIVOT TO AIM WHERE YOU WANT THE LIGHT DIRECTED.
ADJUST THE MOTION SENSOR’S ANGLE PIVOT WHERE YOU WANT TO SENSE MOVEMENT.
THE SENSOR HAS A RANGE OF 35-40 FEET AT AN ANGLE OF 180 DEGREES.
USE WIRE TIES AND CABLE CLAMPS TO PROVIDE A PROFESSION LOOK TO THE INSTALLATION.

STEP #2 STEP #2
STEP #2: FULLY CHARGE THE BATTERY BEFORE USE: 1- TURN THE “OFF / AUTO”SWITCH TO “OFF”ON
THE BOTTOM OF THE LIGHT HOUSING, 2 –PLUG THE POWER CORDS TOGETHER, AND 3 –ALLOW THE
SOLAR PANEL 3 SUNNY DAYS TO FULLY CHARGE THE BATTERY.
STEP #3: TURN THE CONTROL SWITCH FROM “OFF”TO “AUTO”.
YOU CAN NOW ADJUST THE THREE MOTION SENSOR DIALS FOR THE TYPE OF OPERATION DESIRED. THE
DIALS ARE LOCATED ON THE BOTTOM OF THE MOTION SENSOR.
THE ADJUSTMENT DIALS HAVE BEEN FACTORY PRESET TO TIME OF 30 SECONDS, A SENSITIVITY OF 20 FEET
AT 75F AND A LUX TO TURN ON AT DUSK. READJUST TO YOUR APPLICATION.
TIME –MINIMUM TIME OF 10 SECONDS TO A MAXIMUM TIME OF 60
SECONDS.
IF MOTION IS SENSED DURING THE CYCLE, THE PRESET TIME IS
RESET AND THE CYCLE STARTS AGAIN.
THE MOTION SENSOR’S SENSITIVITY IS AFFECTED BY
TEMPERATURE. THE COOLER THE TEMPERATURE, THE MORE
SENSITIVE THE SENSOR.
THE SENSOR HAS A RANGE OF 35-40 FEET. YOU CAN USE THIS
DIAL TO ADJUST THE RANGE FOR DIFFERENT TEMPERATURE
CONDITIONS.
INITIALLY LEAVE THIS DIAL AT THE FACTORY PRESET AND ADJUST
DURING YOUR “WALK AROUND”TEST DESCRIBED BELOW.
THE LUX DIAL CONTROLS UNDER WHAT LIGHT CONDITIONS THE
SENSOR WILL TURN THE FLOOD LIGHT ON.
THE LIGHTEST SETTING WILL TURN THE LIGHT ON DURING
DAYLIGHT HOURS AND THE DARKEST SETTING WILL TURN THE
LIGHT ON ONLY UNDER THE DARKEST CONDITIONS

ONCE YOU HAVE THE SETTINGS WORK UNDER THE CONDITIONS YOU PREFER, TEST THE COVERAGE AREA
OF THE SENSOR BY WALKING AROUND (AT THE LUX SETTING YOU HAVE SET.). YOU CAN ADJUST THE ANGLE
OF THE MOTION SENSOR PIVOT ANGLE AND THE “SENSITIVITY”SETTING”TO OBTAIN DIFFERENT COVERAGE
AREAS.
MAINTENANCE
1. KEEP THE SOLAR PANEL AND LIGHT LENS CLEAN. WIPE WITH A CLOTH AND / OR WITH SOAPY WATER.
2. IF YOU STORE THE UNIT INSIDE FOR MORE THAN 2-3 DAYS, TURN THE SWITCH FROM “AUTO”
TO “OFF”.
RECHARGE THE BATTERY AS DESCRIBED IN STEP #2, WHEN PUT BACK IN SERVICE IF STORED FOR
ANY EXTENDED LENGTH OF TIME.
3. THE BULB IS A STANDARD, TWO PRONG, 10 WATT, 6 VOLT, HALOGEN BULB. USE A FLAT BLADED
SCREW DRIVER TO POP OFF THE LENS AND REPLACE AS NEEDED. DO NOT TOUCH THE BULB WITH
YOUR BARE FINGERS. THEY HAVE OIL ON THEM AND THIS OIL CAN CAUSE THE BULB TO BURN OUT.
4. WITH NORMAL USE, THE BATTERY WILL NEED REPLACEMENT AFTER 3 YEARS. A STANDARD 6V, 4Ah,
LEAD ACID RECHARGEABLE BATTERY IS USED. REMOVE THE 4 HOUSING SCREWS ON THE BACK OF
THE UNIT TO ACCESS THE BATTERY FOR REPLACEMENT.

THE LIGHT IS SUPPLIED WITH A 10 WATT BULB. IT IS RATED TO SUPPLY 150 ACTIVATIONS
OF 1 MINUTE DURATION ON A FULLY CHARGED BATTERY DURING AN OVERNIGHT PERIOD.
IF YOU DESIRE A “BRIGHTER”LIGHT, YOU CAN SUBSTITUTE THE 10 WATT BULB WITH UP TO A
30 WATT, 6 VOLT BULB. THIS WILL REDUCE THE ACTIVATIONS TO 60 OF 1 MINUTE DURATIONS
ON A FULLY CHARGED BATTERY DURING AN OVERNIGHT PERIOD.
TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
PROBLEM
POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS
Light will not switch on when there is movement in the detection
area
Insure that the power switch on the main body has been turned to AUTO
Ensure that the motion sensor has been positioned to face oncoming movement
Ensure that the battery has been fully charged in direct sunlight for 3 sunny days
Check to see that the solar cell charge panel is facing south so that it receives direct sunlight
for most of the day, enabling the battery to fully charge
Check to see that the LUX control has not been set too far towards the darkness (moon
symbol) position. Setting the LUX control too far towards the darkness symbol will cause the
light to turn on only in complete darkness.
Check to see if the solar panel is not near night time light source, such as street lights.
The halogen bulb may not be working and may need to be replaced.
Light switches on during the day The LUX control may be set too far towards the daylight (sun symbol) position
Reposition the motion sensor
Light switches on for no apparent reason The SENS control may be set too far towards the (+) position.
Moving trees, traffic, pets or birds may be getting in the area of detection. This may be
unavoidable, however the sensor could be redirected to a height where this is less likely to
occur.
If there are reflective objects in the detection area such as windows, water or white walls, you
may need to redirect or reposition the motion sensor.
Test the motion sensor by covering it completely with cardboard and waiting several minutes
to make sure it does not detect motion. If the light still switches on, contact GarageTek.
Light quickly flashes on and off The battery charge may be low. Turn the power switch to the OFF position and charge the
battery for 3 sunny days, ensuring the solar cell charge panel has been placed in direct
sunlight.
Move the LUX control more towards the daylight (sun symbol) position.
Light is not as bright as normal The battery charge may be low. Turn the power switch to the OFF position and charge the
battery for 3 sunny days, ensuring the solar cell charge panel has been placed in direct
sunlight.
The halogen bulb may need to be replaced.
