Translation of the original German User’s Manual.
Please read this User’s Manual carefully and observe the notes
given. Use this User’s Manual to familiarise yourself with the
Floating Skimmer Set, how to use it correctly and the safety
instructions.
For safety reasons children and young people under 16 as well
as people not familiar with this User’s Manual must not use this
Floating Skimmer Set. Persons with reduced physical or mental
abilities may use the product only if they are supervised or
instructed by a responsible person.

1. Where to use your GARDENA Floating Skimmer Set
Intended Use: The GARDENA Floating Skimmer Set is intended for private use
outside in the garden only for cleaning ponds with an area of up to
25 m2. It can also be used as a pond aerator at the same time.
It is not intended for operating watering equipment and irrigation
systems.
Please note: The GARDENA Floating Skimmer Set is not suitable for
constant use in the industrial sector. Corrosive, easily
combustible, aggressive or explosive substances (such as
petrol, petroleum or nitro thinners), salt water, food and
drinking water must not be pumped.
2. Safety instructions
Electrical safety:
DANGER ! Electric shock !
v Disconnect the Floating
Skimmer Set from the mains
before working on it.
v Keep the mains plug dry.
The Floating Skimmer Set must be operated
via a residual current device with a residual
current rating of ≤ 30 mA (DIN VDE 0100-702).
v Please ask an electrician for his advice.
Mains cables must not have a smaller
cross section than an H05 RNF3G0,75 rubber
sheathed cable. Extension cables must
comply with DIN VDE 0620. Details on the
type plate must match the mains supply
details.
Please unplug the device after decommis-
sioning it, when not using it and before any
maintenance work.
The Floating Skimmer Set must not be used
when there are people in the water.
Swimming pools and garden ponds must
comply with international and national design
regulations.
v Please ask an electrician for his advice.
Before use, look to see whether the
Floating Skimmer Set is damaged, paying
particular attention to the mains cable
and the plug.
The Floating Skimmer Set connection cable
cannot be replaced. If the cable is damaged,
disconnect the mains plug immediately.
Please contact GARDENA Service.
Ensure that the power cable cannot be crushed
if it has not been laid in conduit in the earth or
in gravel.
Do not carry or pull the Floating Skimmer Set
by the cable and do not use the cable to pull
the plug out of the socket.
Protect the cable from heat, oil and sharp
edges.
Operating instructions:
Do not allow the pump to run without
water because dry running will lead to
an undesirable build up of heat and to
the pump being damaged.
The temperature of the liquid used must not
fall below 4° C or exceed 35 °C.
Sand and other abrasive substances in
the liquid used will lead to faster wear and
a reduction in performance.
3. Assembly
Assembling the Floating
Skimmer Set:
1. Push the two float elements 1
from the top into the retainer in
the Floating Skimmer Set until
the float elements 1 click into
place.
2. Insert the air distributor 2
from underneath and turn out-
wards with the air outlets.
3. If necessary fit laces 3 into
the eyelets 4. (They are used
to fix the Floating Skimmer
Set to the edge of the pond).

4. Initial Operation
Starting the Floating
Skimmer Set working:
Before using the Floating Skimmer Set in the pond the air
distributor air outlets 2 must be turned outwards and the
ties 3 must be fixed to the eyelets 4 (see 3. Assembly).
1. Put the Floating Skimmer Set into the pond and submerge it
until it is completely full of water.
2. Use the ties 3 to fix the Floating Skimmer Set to the edge of
the pond in the prevailing wind direction.
3. To turn the pump on:
Plug the pump plug into a mains socket.
Beware: The pump will start immediately.
4. To turn the pump off:
Unplug the pump plug.

5. Putting into Storage
Storing /
Overwintering:
Keep out of reach of children.
1. Take the Floating Skimmer Set out of the pond, clean it and
store in a dry place.
2. To avoid difficulties when starting up in the spring it is
advisable to store the pump in a frost-free place in a water-
filled container.
The mains plug must not be submerged.
Disposal:
(as per RL2002/96/EC)
The appliance must not be added to normal household waste but
must be disposed of properly.
v Important: Dispose of your unit at the municipal recycling
collection centre.
6. Maintenance
Cleaning the filter basket and
filter foam:
DANGER ! Electric shock !
v Unplug the pump before any maintenance
work !
1. Take the filter basket 5 and the filter foam 6 out of the float
housing.
2. Rinse the filter basket 5 and filter foam 6 with clear water.
3. Put the filter basket 5 and filter foam 6 back into the float
housing.
4. Start the Floating Skimmer Set up again
(see 4. Initial Operation).

7. Troubleshooting
Cleaning the Floating
Skimmer completely:
DANGER ! Electric shock !
v Unplug the pump before rectifying
problems!
No corrosive or abrasive cleaning materials must be used.
1. Take the Floating Skimmer Set
out of the water.
2. Take the filter basket 5
and the filter foam 6 out
of the float housing.
3. Remove the air distributor 2.
4. Push in the lugs 7 and
remove the float housing 8.
5. Remove the pump and the
unscrew the aeration pipe 9.
6. Remove the aeration hose 0
from the aeration pipe 9.
7. Clean all parts with clear water.
8. Put the Floating Skimmer together again in the reverse order
(the lugs 7 must click into place).
When assembling the pump ensure that the connection cable
does not get crushed.
When fitting the aeration hose 0 ensure that it is connected
properly to the aeration pipe 9 and is not kinked.

Cleaning the pump: 1. Dismantle the pump (see “Cleaning the Floating Skimmer
completely”).
2. Turn the pump cover q anti-clockwise and remove vertically
from the motor housing w (bayonet connection).
3. Pull the running unit e out of the motor housing w and clean it.
4. Push the cleaned running unit e back into the motor
housing w.
5. Push the pump cover q vertically into the motor housing w and
turn clockwise (bayonet connection).
6. Put the pump back into the Floating Skimmer
(see “Cleaning the Floating Skimmer completely”).

Repairs must only be carried out by GARDENA service departments or specialist
dealers authorised by GARDENA.

10. Service / Warranty
Warranty: GARDENA guarantees this product for 2 years (from date of
purchase). This guarantee covers all serious defects of the unit
that can be proved to be material or manufacturing faults.
Under warranty we will either replace the unit or repair it free
of charge if the following conditions apply:
• The unit must have been handled properly and in keeping with
the requirements of the User’s Manual.
• Neither the purchaser or a non-authorised third party have
attempted to repair the unit.
The running unit and filter foam are wearing parts and not covered
by the warranty.
This manufacturer’s guarantee does not affect the user’s existing
warranty claims against the dealer / seller.
If you have any problems with your Floating Skimmer Set, please
contact our Service or return the defective unit together with
a short description of the problem – in case of guarantee, with
a copy of the receipt – postage paid to one of the GARDENA
Service Centres listed on the back of this leaflet.

we are not liable for any damage caused by our units if it is due to
improper repair or if parts exchanged are not original GARDENA parts
or parts approved by us, and, if the repairs were not carried out by
a GARDENA Service Centre or an authorised specialist. The same applies
to spare parts and accessories.
