HOWTOCONNECTELECTRICITY
Do not, under any circumstances, cut or remove
the third (ground) prong from the power cord.
For personal safe_ this appliance must be
properly grounded.
The power cord of dais appliance is equipped
with a 3-prong (grounding) plug which mates
with a standard 3-piong (grounding) wall
outlet m minimize the possibility of electric
shock hazard flom this appliance.
Haxe the wall outlet and circuit checked by
a qualified electrician to make sure the outlet
is properly grounded.
Where a 2-prong wall outlet is encounmred,
it is your personal responsibility and obligation
m have it replaced with a properly grounded
3-prong wall outlet.
The air conditioner should always be plugged
into its own individual electrical outlet
which has a xohage rating that matches the
rating plate.
This provides the best performance and also

at its previous setting. Each touch will set the

be set to automatically, turn off in 1 u) 1_2
hom_. Each touch will set the timer in hom_.
Tocancel the timer, press the TIMER pad

COOLMode
Use the COOLInode with HIGH(F3),MED(F2)or
LOW(F1)tim for cooling. Use the INCREASEA/
DECREASEVpads to set the desired temperature
between 60°F and 86°F in l °F increments.
An electronic themtostat is used to maintain the
room temperature. The compressor will (-)'de on and
off to kee I) the room at the set level ot comfi)rt. Set
the them(ostat at a lower number and the indoor air

The air filter behind the front grille should be
checked and cleaned at least e',er_ 30 (la_ or

Clean the filter with wamL soapy wate_: Rinse and
let the filter dry before replacing it.
CAUTION:DONOYoperatethe air conditioner without a
filter becausedirt and tint wi// dog it and reduceperformance.

Grasp the tab and gently pull the filter up and out.

Outdoor Coils
The coils on the outdoor side of the air conditioner
should be checked regularly. If they are clogged
with dirt or soot they may be professionally
steanl cleaned, a service available through your
(;E service outlet.

Front Grille and Case
Turn tile air conditioner off and remove tile plug
fl'om tile wall outlet betore cleaning.
To clean, rise water and a mild detelgent. Do not
use bleach or abrasives.
Toremove the front grille:
_] Remoxe tile knobs (on some models). Then,
on SOlIle illodels, I'ell/Ox e tile screw beneath
tile bottom knob. Press in on tile lower left
side of tile case and pull tile grille fin'ward.
] IJfl tile top of tile grille up and off to release
ti'om tile tabs.
] (;enfl)press inward on tile right side of tile
case and pull the lower right side of the grille
forward to release fl'om the slot,
Toreplace the grille:
] Hook tile front ot tile grille onto tile tabs
on tile top of tile case.
] Snap tile bottom right side of tile grille into
tile case slot.
] Snap the bottom lett side of the grille into
the case slot and replace the screw. Attach
the knobs.

It is important to have the wall outlet and circuit
checked by a qualified electrician if there is any
doubt as to whether a proper ground exists.
CAUTION:
Do not, under any circumstances, cut or
remove the third (ground) prong from the
power cord.
Do not change the plug on the power
cord of this air conditioner.
Aluminum house wiring may present
special problems--consult a qualified
electrician.
Follow National Electric Codes (NEC)and/or local
codes and ordinances.
