Operating Instructions
Icemaker
How your
icemaker
works
When ou first start our icemaker, the water
reservoir will fill and the s stem will rinse itself
before starting to make ice. The rinsing process
takes about five minutes.
Under normal operating conditions, the
icemaker will c cle at preset temperatures. The
ice level sensor located in the ice storage bin will
monitor the ice levels.
MPORTANT
• If the water suppl to the icemaker is turned
off, be sure to set the icemaker control to
OFF. Drain the water reservoir and leave
the icemaker door open to allow it to dr
completel .
•Every time the icemaker is turned off, you
MUST clean the icemaker system with Nickel
Safe ce Machine Cleaner. See Care and
C eaning—Icemaker system section for
instructions.
• The icemaker is designed to make clear ice
from the majorit of water sources on a dail
basis. If our results are unsatisfactor , our
water ma need to be filtered or treated.
Making ce
1. Water is constantl circulated over a freezing
plate. As the water freezes into ice, the
minerals in the water are rejected. This
produces a clear sheet of ice with a low
mineral content.
2. When the desired thickness is reached, the ice
sheet is released and slides onto a cutter grid.
The grid divides the sheet into individual
cubes.
3. The water containing the rejected minerals
is drained after each freezing c cle.
4. Fresh water enters the machine for the next
ice making c cle.
5. Cubes fall into the storage bin. When the bin
is full, the icemaker shuts off automaticall
and restarts when more ice is needed. The ice
bin is not refrigerated and some melting will
occur. The amount of melting varies with
room temperature.
NOTE: As the room and water temperatures
var , so will the amount of ice produced and
stored. This means that higher operating
temperatures result in reduced ice production.

Care and Cleaning
Icemaker
Caring
for your
icemaker
The icemaker MUST be regularly inspected and
cleaned to keep it operating at peak efficiency.
Every time the icemaker is turned off, you

directions that are printed on the cleaner bottle.
Do not use the suggested amounts, but use the
entire bottle to clean the unit. See Care and
Cleaning—Icemaker system section.
Both the ice making s stem and the air cooled
condenser need to be cleaned regularl . The
minerals rejected from the circulating water
during the freezing c cle will eventuall form
a hard scal deposit in the water s stem which
prevents a rapid release of the ice from the
freezing plate.
Clean the ice and water s stem periodicall to
remove mineral scale buildup. Frequenc of
cleaning depends on water hardness. With hard
water (15 to 20 grains/gal. [4 to 5 grains/liter]),
cleaning ma be required as frequentl as ever
6 months.
Unplug the icemaker before cleaning.
Exterior
surfaces
Door handles and trim—Clean with a cloth
dampened with soap water. Dr with a soft
cloth.

IMPORTANT: Every time the icemaker is turned
off, you MUST clean the icemaker system ith
the Nickel Safe Ice Machine Cleaner. See Care
and Cleaning—Icemaker system section for
instructions.
8. Plug in the icema er or reconnect power.
NOTE: All components of the icema er are
permanently lubricated at the factory. They
should not require any additional oiling
throughout the normal life of the machine.
Reverse
Osmosis
system
IMPORTANT: The performance of the icema er
may be affected when connected to a Reverse
Osmosis system. An RO system may also reduce
water pressure and affect the fill cycle, which is
dependent on time and flow. The reduced water
pressure may cause the reservoir not to fill and
flush properly during the ice ma ing cycle.
The pressure of the water supply coming out
of a reverse osmosis system going to the water
inlet valve of the icema er needs to be between
30 and 120 psi.
If a reverse osmosis water filtration system is
connected to your cold water supply, the water
pressure to the reverse osmosis system needs
to be a minimum of 40 to 60 psi. The reverse
osmosis system must provide 1 gal. of water
per hour to the icema er for proper icema er
operation.
Do not use copper tubing hen the icemaker is
connected to a Reverse Osmosis ater system.
