IMPORTANT SAFETYINSTRUCTIONS
For Your Safety
•All rough-in and spacing dimensions must be
met for safe use of your range.
• To reduce the risk of burns or fire when
reaching over hot surface elements, cabinet
storage space above the cooktop should be
avoided. If cabinet storage space is to be
provided above the cooktop, the risk can be
reduced by installing a range hood that sticks
out at least 5" beyond the front of the cabinets.
Cabinets installed above the cooktop must be
no deeper than :1_5".
• Be sure your appliance is properly installed and
grounded by a qualified technician.
lectrical
Requirements
This appliance must be supplied with the
proper voltage and frequency, and connected
to an individual, properly grounded branch
circuit, protected by a circuit breaker or fuse
having amperage as noted on rating plate.
(Rating Plate is located behind the oven door
on the range.)
Rating Plate
Location
We recommend you have the electrical wiring
and hookup of your range connected by a
qualified electrician. After installation, have the
electrician show you where your main range
disconnect is located.
Check with your local utilities for electrical codes
which apply in your area. Failure to wire your
range according to governing codes could result
in o hazardous condition. If there ore no local
codes, your range must be wired and fused to
meet the requirements of the National Electrical
Code, ANSt/NFPA No. 70-Latest Edition. You can
get o copy by writing:
Notional Fire Protection Association
Botterymorch Park
Quincy, MA 02269
Effective January 1, 1996, the Notional
Electrical Code requires that new, but not
existing, construction utilize a four-conductor
connection to an electric range. When installing
an electric range in new construction, a mobile
home, recreational vehicle or on area where
local codes prohibit grounding through the
neutral conductor, follow the instructions in the
section on NEW CONSTRUCTIONAND FOUR-
CONDUCTOR BRANCH CIRCUITCONNECTION.
You must use a three-wire, single-phase
A.C. 208Y/120 Volt or 2/40/120 Volt, 60 hertz
electrical system. If you connect to aluminum
wiring, properly installed connectors approved
for use with aluminum wiring must be used.

Move Range Indoors In Front of
Cabinet Opening
(Do not use hand trucks when moving
the unpackaged range. Cooktop glass
may be broken.)
Protect the kitchen floo!! Flatten and place
a piece of the shipping carton in front of the
installation location to protect the flooring.
Do not remove the protective channel
from the sides of the glass cooktop until
later in installation.
(If supplied)
Inspect Installation Location
Inspect cutout dimensions and location
of electrical junction box to be sure it fits
within the layout location. See page 4.
Refer to alternate construction section for
the following non-standard installations.
a. Counter opening extends to the wall:
Haintop Filler Kit (JXS66XX),or
Backguard Kit {JXSB6XXor JXS39SS).
WARNING: If you do not use these
kits, the anti-tip bracket must fit under
an attachment to the wall that can
withstand a force of 2001bs.in the
upward direction. See Section D1.
b. Island Installation:
To provide an optimum installation, the
top surface of the countertop must be
level and fiat (lieon the same plane)
around the 3 sides that are adjacent to
range cooktop. Proper adjustments to
make the top fiat should be made or
gaps between the countertop and range
cooktop may occur. Forcing the cooktop
to fit may cause excessive gaps, or could
break the glass cooktop and void the
warranty.

Range is to hang by the countertop on the
side metal flanges under glass cooktop.
This Range must not be installed on a
base or sub structure (2"x 4" support).
If the construction of your cabinet cannot
provide a 1/4" flat area at the back of the
countertop opening, consider changing the
countertop to accommodate this dimension.
If the area is not flat, excess tension may
be applied to the glass cooktop, causing
breakage and voiding the warranty.
Center the 30" wide opening over the ad-
jacent cabinets and mark with a straight
edge.
Using a straight edge, mark the back line at
23-3/16" from the front edge of the counter.
Be careful not to damage the adjacent
cabinets while cutting the countertop.
Remove countertop raised edge, if
incorporated. (See illustration on page 4)

Do not shorten the flexible conduit. The conduit strain relief clamp must be securely attached to
the junction box and the flexible conduit must be securely attached to the clamp. If the flexible
conduit will not fit within the junction box, do not install the oven until a clamp of the proper size
is obtained.
NOTE TO ELECTRICIAN: The 5 power leads supplied with this appliance are UL recognized
for connection to larger gauge household wiring. The insulation of these 5 leads is rated at
temperatures much higher than the temperature rating of household wiring. The current carrying
capacity of the conductor is governed by the temperature rating of the insulation around the wire,
rather than the wire gauge alone.

Locating the Stop Screw
It is suggested that two people lift the
range and carefully slide it towards the
back of the opening. When the range
is approximately 1" from the back of
the opening, lift the front of the range
approximatley 1/2" to clear the stop screw
located in the sides of the cabinet. Slide
the range until the range is seated into the
opening.
Lower the front of the range onto the
countertop.
Check For Proper Installation of
the Stop Screw
Look at both sides of the range under the
door. The stop screws must be located in
the notch on the sides of the range, and
not touch the top of the notch when the
range is fully seated on the countertop. If
the screws do not meet the requirements,
move the screws to a position that meets
these requirements.

Final Checklist
Check to make sure the circuit breaker is closed (Reset) or the circuit fuses are replaced.
Be sure power is in service to the building.
Check to be sure that all packing materials and tape on metal panel (if applicable) under
control knobs and drawer have been removed.
Operation Checklist
Check to make sure the Clock display is energized. If a series of horizontal red lines appear in
the display, disconnect power immediately. Recheck the range wiring connections, tf change
is made to connections, retest again. If no change is required, have building wiring checked
for proper connections and voltage. It is recommended that the clock be changed if the red
lines appear.
Push down and turn any one of the four surface knobs to "MED" setting to observe that the
element glows within 15 seconds. Turn the knob off when glow is detected. If the glow is not
detected within the time limit, recheck the range wiring connections. If change is required,
retest again. If no change is required, have building wiring checked for proper connections
and voltage.
