FREEZER MOISTURE
AND FAN NOISE KIT
WR49X10044
REF 18-01
Models; ETS22, GTS22, HTS22 and PTS22
Serial Range: FA through SA
Factory Work code in TP note field: RAAR
TP quick entry job code: 682
This kit is designed to resolve two possible conditions in the freezer section of 22 cubic foot
top mount no-frost refrigerators: icicles, water droplets or moisture forming on the air tower or
ceiling of the freezer and noise from the evaporator fan.
The icicles and water droplets are formed by air bypassing the evaporator coil in combination
with higher than required defrost temperatures. The kit contains components designed to seal
the bypass paths, forcing all the air through the evaporator, removing the moisture. The kit
also contains a new main control board with updated software, reducing the defrost
termination temperature from 65° F to 55° F, allowing for less humidity to build up in the
freezer during defrost. All components of the kit need to be installed to fix the customer's
problem.
The noise from the evaporator fan can be caused by moisture building up in the mounting
grommets and brackets of the fan, as well as the fan wiring harness bundled too tightly,
causing excessive tension on the fan motor. In addition to the bypass fix and the new board,
the kit contains two wire ties that allow the technician to re-bundle the wiring harness with
enough slack to allow the fan motor to hang correctly in the housing.
The following pages list the steps necessary to install the WR49X10044 kit correctly.

9. Remove drain hook from drain tube.
10. Remove ground wire from evaporator.
11. Install 18" foam air deflector (from kit) behind
bottom rear pass of evaporator. Make certain to
fit completely between end brackets and foil side
of air deflector is facing evaporator. Use pieces
of the 6" aluminum tape supplied in kit to hold air
deflector in place.
16. Install the 3/4" x 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" foam block
(from kit) at left top of evaporator as shown
in the illustration.
12. Make certain Styrofoam blocks are dry and apply
a 4 1/2" foam strip (2 in kit) to the top of each
Styrofoam block and a 6 1/4" foam strip
(2 in kit) to the bottom of each Styrofoam block as
shown in the illustration.
13. Reinstall Styrofoam blocks.
