wWARNING W en using
t is appliance, always exercise basic safety
precautions, including t e following:
• Use this appliance only for its intended
purpose as described in t is Owner’s Manual.
• This refrigerator must be properly
installed in accordance with the Installation
Instructions before it is used.
• Do not allow children to climb, stand or hang
on the shelves in the refrigerator. T ey could
damage t e refrigerator and seriously injure
t emselves.
• Do not touch the cold surfaces in the freezer
compartment when hands are damp or wet.
Skin may ad ere to t ese extremely cold
surfaces.
• Do not store or use gasoline or other
flammable vapors and liquids in the vicinity
of this or any other appliance.
• In refrigerators with automatic icemakers,
avoid contact wit moving parts of t e ejector
mec anism, or wit t e eating element
located on t e bottom of t e icemaker. Do not
place fingers or ands on t e automatic
icemaking mec anism w ile t e refrigerator
is plugged in.
• Keep fingers out of the “pinch point” areas
clearances between t e doors and between
t e doors and cabinet are necessarily small.
Be careful closing doors w en c ildren are
in t e area.
• Unplug your refrigerator before cleaning
and making repairs.
NOTE We strongly recommend t at any
servicing be performed by a qualified
individual.
• Before replacing a burned-out light bulb,
set t e Master Lig t switc in t e OFF position
to turn off t e lig ts in order to avoid contact
wit a live wire filament. (A burned-out lig t
bulb may break w en being replaced.)
NOTE Setting t e refrigerator temperature
controls to OFF does not remove power to t e
lig t circuit.
• Do not refreeze frozen foods which have
thawed completely.

C ild entrapment and suffocation are not
problems of t e past. Junked or abandoned
refrigerators are still dangerous…even if t ey
will sit for “just a few days.” If you are getting
rid of your old refrigerator, please follow t e
instructions below to elp prevent accidents.

wAVERTISSEMENT Lorsque

HOW TO CONNECT ELECTRICITY
Do not, under any circumstances, cut or
remove the third (ground) prong from the
power cord. For personal safety, this appliance
must be properly grounded.
T e power cord of t is appliance is equipped

wit a standard 3-prong (grounding) wall outlet
to minimize t e possibility of electric s ock
azard from t is appliance.
Have t e wall outlet and circuit c ecked by
a qualified electrician to make sure t e outlet
is properly grounded.
W ere a standard 2-prong wall outlet is
encountered, it is your personal responsibility
and obligation to ave it replaced wit a
properly grounded 3-prong wall outlet.
Use of a GFI (Ground Fault Interruptor) is not
recommended for t e refrigerator outlet.
T e refrigerator s ould always be plugged into
its own individual electrical outlet w ic as a
voltage rating t at matc es t e rating plate.
T is provides t e best performance and also
prevents overloading ouse wiring circuits w ic
could cause a fire azard from over eated wires.
DO NOT USE AN ADAPTER PLUG TO CONNECT
THE REFRIGERATOR TO A 2-PRONG OUTLET.
DO NOT USE AN EXTENSION CORD
WITH THIS APPLIANCE.
Never unplug your refrigerator by pulling on
t e power cord. Always grip plug firmly and pull
straig t out from t e outlet.
Repair or replace immediately all power cords
t at ave become frayed or ot erwise
damaged. Do not use a cord t at s ows cracks
or abrasion damage along its lengt or at
eit er end.
W en moving t e refrigerator away from t e
wall, be careful not to roll over or damage t e
power cord.

R CCORDEMENT ÉLECTRIQUE
Ne coupez ni retirez en aucun cas la troisième
broche (mise à la terre) de la fiche du cordon
d’alimentation. Pour votre sécurité, cet
appareil doit être correctement mis à la terre.
Le cordon d’alimentation de cet appareil est
muni d’une fic e à 3 broc es (mise à la terre)
qui se branc e dans une prise mural ordinaire
à 3 alvéoles (mise à la terre) pour réduire au
minimum les risques du c ocs électriques.
Faites examiner la prise de courant et le circuit
par un électricien qualifié pour vous assurer que
la prise est correctement mise à la terre.
Si la prise murale est du type standard à
2 alvéoles, il vous incombe de la faire remplacer
par une prise à 3 alvéoles correctement mise
à la terre.

Temperature
controls
The temperature display shows the actual
temperature of the freezer and fresh food
compartments. T e actual temperature will
vary from t e set temperature based on factors
suc as frequency of door opening, amount of
food, defrost cycling and room temperature.
NOTE: Frequent door openings or door left open
for periods of time may increase t e internal
temperature of t e freezer and fres food
compartments temporarily.
To turn off the cooling system in bot t e
freezer and fres food compartments, press
eit er + pad until bot displays s ow OFF.
To turn the cooling system on, press eit er
– pad. T e preset temperatures of 0°F and 37°F
will appear in t e display.
To check the current temperature setting for
the fresh food or freezer compartment, press
t e + or – pad once. After 5 seconds, t e display
will return to t e actual temperature.
To change the temperature settings, press
t e + or – pads to desired temperature set point
for fres food and freezer separately. Allow
24 ours for t e refrigerator to reac t e
temperature you ave set.

To Reset the Filter Status Light
Press and old t e RESET pad for 3 seconds.
Filter Bypass Plug
You must use t e filter bypass plug:
a) if you ave a ouse old reverse osmosis water
system and/or anot er form of ome water
filtration system
b) if a replacement filter is not available.
T e icemaker will not operate wit out t e filter
or filter bypass plug installed.

T e water filter cartridge is located be ind t e
grille panel at t e top of t e refrigerator. Lift up
t e panel to access t e cartridge.
When to Replace the Filter
T e filter cartridge is designed
to filter 300 gallons of water
(lasting approximately 12 mont s).
It s ould be replaced w en t e status
lig t turns red or if you notice t e
ice cubes getting ollow or small.
Installing the Filter Cartridge
1Raise t e grille panel at t e top of t e
refrigerator.
2Remove t e old cartridge by slowly turning
it to t e left. A small amount of water may drip
down. Do not pull down on t e cartridge.
3Fill t e new cartridge wit water from t e
tap to allow for better flow immediately after
installation.
4Line up t e arrow on t e cartridge wit t e
center of t e older. Do not pus it up into
t e older.
5Slowly turn it to t e rig t until t e cartridge stops.
It will rotate about 1/4 turn. DO NOT
OVERTIGHTEN.

A newly-installed refrigerator may take
12–24 hours to begin making ice.
T e icemaker will produce seven cubes per
cycle—approximately 15 cycles in a 24- our
period.
If t e refrigerator is operated before t e water
connection is made to t e icemaker, set t e power
switc to O (off).
W en t e refrigerator as been connected to
t e water supply, set t e power switc to
I
(on).
T row away t e first full bucket of ice to allow
t e water line to clear.
Be sure not ing interferes wit t e sweep of
t e feeler arm.
W en t e bin fills to t e level of t e feeler arm, t e
icemaker will stop producing ice.
It is normal for several cubes to be joined toget er.
If ice is not used frequently, old ice cubes will
become cloudy, taste stale and s rink.
If ice cubes get stuck in t e icemaker, set t e power
switc to O (off) and remove t e cubes. Set t e
power switc to
I
(on) to restart t e icemaker.
After t e icemaker as been turned on again, t ere
will be a delay of about 45 minutes before t e
icemaker resumes operations.
T e ice bucket is conveniently located in t e upper
freezer basket. Occasionally ice cubes may spill
out of t e bucket. S ould t e ice cubes fall to t e
bottom of t e freezer, t ey are of no concern; t ey
will sublimate away armlessly.
NOTE In omes wit low water pressure, you may
ear t e icemaker water valve cycle on several
times w en making one batc of ice.

Mode
Product Kit

T e Sabbat Mode Product Kit was designed for
use on t e Jewis Sabbat and Holidays. T e
Sabbat Mode feature makes it possible for
observant Jews to refrigerate and freezer food
during t e duration of t e oliday.
T e Sabbat Mode feature can be set to override
typical reactions to actions in your refrigerator.
W ile in t e Sabbat Mode, your refrigerator will
still operate normally. However, t e refrigerator
will not respond to your actions.
W ile in t e Sabbat Mode, you may notice
t e fan running w en t e door is opened;
owever, t is is not a result of your actions. T e
fan will operate at random times. T e defrost
eater will continue to defrost t e refrigerator
and freezer and will be activated on a timer. T e
defrost eater will not defrost as a result of door
openings or any consumer actions.
ON/OFF—To activate, raise t e top grille
panel, set t e Sabbat Mode switc to t e
ON position. A green LED lig t will be visible
below t e Sabbat Mode Kit switc . T e green
lig t may not be visible wit t e top grille panel
closed. If you are not sure if t e unit is in
Sabbat Mode, raise t e grille panel and
see if t e green lig t is on.
DISPLAYS, ALARMS and LIGHTS—T e main
temperature control, door alarms and lig ts
will be disabled.
ICEMAKER—T e icemaker will be disabled.
T is Sabbat Mode Product Kit can be purc ased
from your local appliance dealer. T e ZSAB1 Kit
is designed for use wit Monogram Built-In
Refrigerators: 36″, 42″and 48″Side-by-Side
models manufactured after February 2004 and
36″Bottom-Freezer models manufactured after

Make sure t e pans are closed completely
to maintain t e correct umidity level.
Pan
removal
To remove a pan, pull it out and lift t e front
up and out of t e wire older. Lift t e back
up and out.
To replace a pan, place t e back of t e pan in
t e wire older, making sure t e indentations at
t e back of t e pan fit into t e back of t e wire
older. T en lower t e front of t e pan into t e
wire older. Press firmly on t e top of t e pan
until it snaps into place.

T ese drawers ave individual, adjustable
umidity controls t at let you control t e
amount of cold air entering t e drawers.
Make sure t e drawers are closed completely
to maintain t e correct umidity level.
Slide the control all the way to the High setting
and t e drawer provides higher humidity levels
recommended for most leafy vegetables.
Slide the control all the way to the Low setting
and t e drawer provides lower humidity levels
recommended for most fruits.
Excess water t at may accumulate on t e
bottom of t e drawers s ould be emptied
and t e drawers wiped dry.

in tracks at rear of cabinet. T en lower front
of s elf until it locks into position.

T e wine rack is designed to old a bottle on its
side and will fit on any s elf.
To relocate the wine rack Pull t e wine rack
straig t out, position its lip over t e rig t edge
of t e s elf you want to suspend it from and
pus it all t e way in.
Door
bins
Some door bins are adjustable and can be
moved up and down to meet your storage needs.
NOTE: T e deeper door bins must be placed
at t e bottom of t e door only.
To remove Lift t e bin up and slide it toward you.
Freezer
drawer

Inside t e freezer drawer is a wire slide-out
freezer basket.
T is basket can be pus ed back so items on t e
bottom of t e freezer drawer can be reac ed.
To remove the basket
1Open t e freezer drawer.
2Lift up t e back of t e basket, t en slide t e
basket back until it clears t e front ooks.
Ensure that the freezer drawer is fully closed
after each opening to maintain normal
operating performance.

Cleaning
inside
To help prevent odors, leave an open box
of baking soda in t e refrigerator and freezer
compartments.
Turn off power at the circuit breaker or fuse
box before cleaning. If t is is not practical, wring
excess moisture out of sponge or clot w en
cleaning around switc es, lig ts or controls.
Use warm water and baking soda solution—
about a tablespoon (15 ml) of baking soda
to a quart (1 liter) of water. T is bot cleans
and neutralizes odors. T oroug ly rinse
and wipe dry.
Other parts of the refrigerator—including
door gaskets, meat and vegetable drawers,
ice storage bin and all plastic parts—can be
cleaned t e same way. After cleaning t e door
gaskets, apply a t in layer of petroleum jelly
to t e door gaskets at t e inge side. T is elps
keep t e gaskets from sticking and bending
out of s ape.
Avoid cleaning cold glass shelves with hot
water because the extreme temperature
difference may cause them to break. Handle
glass shelves carefully. Rough handling of
tempered glass can cause it to shatter.
Do not wash any plastic refrigerator parts
in the dishwasher.

Preparing
for
vacation
For long vacations or absences, remove food
and s ut off power to t e refrigerator at t e fuse
box or circuit breaker. Clean t e interior wit a

For shorter vacations, remove peris able foods
and leave controls at regular settings. However,

or buzzing sound during t e defrost cycle.

refrigerator cools to t e correct temperature.
– Electronic dampers click open and closed to provide optimal cooling
and energy savings.
– T e compressor may cause a clicking or c irping sound w en
attempting to restart (t is could take up to 5 minutes).

relays activate to control refrigerator components.
– Ice cubes dropping into t e bin and water running in pipes
