Water Filter Cartridge
The water filter cartridge is located in the back upper right
corner of the refligerator compartment.
When to Replace the Filter on Models With a
Replacement Indicator Light
There is a replacement indicator light for the water filter
camidge on the dispenseL This light will mrn orange m roll
you that you need m replace the filmr soon.
The filter cartridge should be replaced when the
replacement indicator light turns red or if the flow of water
to the dispenser or icemaker decreases.
When to Replace the Filter on Models Without a
Replacement Indicator Light
The filter cartridge should be replaced eveD, sixmonths
or earlier if the flow ofwamr to the wamr dispenser or
icemaker decreases.
Removing the Filter Cartridge
If you are replacing the cartridge, first remove the old one
by slowly turning it m the left. Do not pull down on the
cartridge. A small amount ofwamr m W drip down.
Installing the Filter Cartridge
O If you are replacing a SmartWatercartridge with an
adapter, the adapter illtlst be removed before inst_flling
the cartridge. To remove the adapte_; turn it to the left
about 1l/4 turn.
If you are replacing a WaterbyCulligancartridge,
leave the adapter in place. This adapter will stay in the
refrigerator when you replace future cartridges.

O On models without a replacement indicator light,
apply the month and year sticker to the new camidge
to remind you to replace the filter in six months.
O Fill the replacement cartridge with water flom the mp
to allow for better flow flom the dispenser immediately
_ffter installation.

the holdeL D0 n0tpush it up into the holdeL
Slowly turn it m the right until the filmr cartridge stops.
DONOTOVERTIGHTEN.As you mrn the camidge, it will
automatically raise itself into position. The camJdge will
move about 1/2 turn.

0Run water from the dispenser fbr 3 minutes
(about 1-1/2 gallons) to cleat"the system and prevent
sputtering.
I_ Pressand hoM the RESETWATERFILTERpad
(on some models) on the dispenser for 3seconds.
NOTE:A newly,installed water filter cartridge may cause
water to spurt flom the dispense_:
FilterBypassPlug
You must use the filter bypass plug when a replacement
filmr cartridge is not available. The dispenser and the
icemaker will not operate without the filter or filter
bypass plug.
