PLEASE READ THIS MANUAL IN ITS ENTIRETY BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO UNPACK, ASSEMBLE, INSTALL,
OPERATE OR MAINTAIN THIS EQUIPMENT. HAZARDOUS VOLTAGES ARE PRESENT INSIDE THE SILENT GENERATOR™
POWER SYSTEM ENCLOSURE THAT CAN CAUSE DEATH OR SEVERE PERSONAL INJURY. FOLLOW PROPER INSTALLATION,
OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES TO AVOID THESE VOLTAGES.
THE SILENT GENERATOR™ POWER SYSTEM IS NOT INTENDED FOR USE AS AN EMERGENCY SYSTEM (SEE
NEC ARTICLES 517 AND 700), NOR AS A LEGALLY REQUIRED SYSTEM (SEE NEC ARTICLE 701), NOR FOR
PRIMARY POWER IN PLACE OF THE ELECTRIC UTILITY OR IN LIFE SUPPORT OR CRITICAL MEDICAL APPLICATIONS.
DO NOT connect any AC load whose neutral conductor is connected (bonded) to ground to the System.
Power equipment covered by this document is designed and tested to operate within its nameplate ratings. Operation
outside of these ratings may cause the equipment to fail resulting in death, serious bodily injury and/or property damage. All responsible
personnel should locate the equipment nameplate and be familiar with the information provided therein.
Installation of this system must be done by a Licensed electrician in compliance with all applicable electrical codes and ordinances.
The Silent Generator™ Power System is intended for indoor use only. Do not expose the unit to rain, snow, or moisture. To reduce risk of
fire hazard, do not cover or obstruct the ventilation openings. Do not install the Silent Generator Power System in a zero-clearance
compartment as overheating may result.
The Silent Generator™ Power System may connect to one source of DC Power and one source of AC Power. To reduce the risk of electrical
shock, disconnect all sources of AC and DC power from the Silent Generator™ Power System before attempting any maintenance or
cleaning or working on any circuits connected to the unit. Turning off controls/switches will not eliminate this risk.
Do not operate the Silent Generator™ Power System with damaged or substandard wiring, if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped, or
otherwise damaged in any way.
Do not disassemble the Silent Generator™ Power System, there are no user-serviceable parts inside. Contact Gen/Tran to obtain service.
Attempting to service the unit yourself may result in a risk of electrical shock or fire, and will void your warranty. Internal capacitors remain
charged after all power is disconnected.
Do not insert any foreign objects into the Silent Generator™ Power System’s AC outlets, DC Power input socket, or the
ventilation holes. Keep the Silent Generator™ Power System cabinet closed. Make sure only authorized personnel have access to the
cabinet. Due to the serious shock hazard from high voltages within the cabinet, all service and adjustments to the unit must be performed by
an electrician or authorized service personnel. All possible contingencies which may arise during installation, operation or maintenance, and
all details and variations of this equipment do not purport to be covered by these instructions. If further information is desired by purchaser
regarding his particular installation, operation or maintenance of particular equipment, contact Gen/Tran.
BATTERY SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:
1. Use only sealed VRLA AGM type batteries specified by Gen/Tran in the Silent Generator™ Power System. Use of any other batteries
could create a hazardous situation and will void the warranty.
2. To reduce the risk of battery explosion, follow these instructions and those published by the battery manufacturer.
3. Working in the vicinity of batteries may be dangerous. Unsealed batteries can generate explosive gases during normal operation.
Therefore, you must read this guide and follow the instructions exactly before installing or using the Silent Generator™ System.
4. This equipment contains components which tend to produce arcs or sparks. To prevent fire or explosion, do not install in locations that
require ignition-protected equipment. This includes any space containing gasoline-powered machinery, fuel tanks, fuel lines as well as
joints, fittings, or other connections between components of the fuel system.
5. Never smoke or allow a spark or flame near the batteries.
6. Use caution to reduce the risk of dropping a metal tool on the batteries. It could spark or short circuit the battery or other electrical parts
and could cause an explosion.
