Computermotherboardsand expansion cardscontainverydelicateIntegrated Circuit(IC)chips.To
protectthemagainstdamage fromstaticelectricity,you shouldfollowsomeprecautionswheneveryou
workon yourcomputer.
1.Unplug yourcomputerwhen working on the inside.
2.Useagrounded wriststrap beforehandling computercomponents.Ifyou do nothave
one,touchbothofyourhandstoasafelygrounded objectortoametalobject, suchas
the powersupplycase.
3.Holdcomponentsbythe edgesand trynottouchthe ICchips,leadsorconnectors,or
othercomponents.
4.Placecomponentson agrounded antistaticpad oron the bag thatcamewiththe
componentswheneverthe componentsareseparated fromthe system.
5.Ensurethatthe ATXpowersupplyisswitched offbeforeyou plug inorremovethe ATX
powerconnectoron the motherboard.
If the motherboardhasmounting holes,buttheydon’tline up withthe holeson the baseand
thereareno slotstoattachthe spacers,do notbecomealarmed you can still attachthe spacersto
the mounting holes.Justcutthe bottomportion ofthe spacers(the spacermaybe alittlehardto
cutoff, sobe carefulofyourhands).Inthiswayyou can still attachthe motherboardtothe base
withoutworrying aboutshortcircuits.Sometimesyou mayneed tousethe plasticspringstoisolate
the screwfromthe motherboardPCBsurface,becausethe circuitwiremaybe nearbythe hole.Be
careful,don’tletthe screwcontactanyprinted circuitwriteorpartson the PCBthatarenearthe
fixing hole,otherwiseitmaydamage the boardorcauseboardmalfunctioning.

Step1:Install theCentralProcessing Unit(CPU)
Beforeinstalling the processor,adheretothe following warning:
Ifyou do notmatchtheCPUsocketPin1and CPUcutedgewell, itwill
cause improperinstallation.Please changetheinsertorientation.
Please make suretheCPUtypeissupportedbythemotherboard.
1.Angling the rod to65-degree maybe feela
kind oftight,and thencontinuepulltherodto
90-degree when anoise“cough”made.
2.CPUTop View

3.LocatePin1inthe socketand look
fora(golden)cutedge on the CPU
uppercorner.Then insertthe CPU
intothe socket.
4.Press downthe CPUsocketlever
and finishCPUinstallation.

Step1-2:CPUHeatSinkInstallation
Beforeinstalling theCPUHeatSink,adheretothefollowing warning:
1.Please use Intelapprovedcoolingfan.
2.Werecommend you toapplythethermaltapetoprovidebetterheatconduction
betweenyourCPUandheatsink.
(TheCPUcoolingfanmightstick totheCPUduetothehardening ofthethermal
paste.During thiscondition ifyoutrytoremovethecoolingfan,you mightpullthe
processoroutoftheCPUsocketalonewiththecooling fan,andmightdamagethe
processor.To avoidthisfromhappening,wesuggestyou toeitheruse thermaltape
insteadofthermalpaste,orremove thecooling fanwithextremecaution.)
3.Make suretheCPUfanpowercableispluggedintotheCPUfanconnector,this
completestheinstallation.
Please refertoCPUheatsinkuser'smanualformoredetailinstallationprocedure.

Step2:Install memorymodules
Beforeinstalling the processorand heatsink,adheretothe following warning:
When DIMM LEDisON,do notinstall/removeDIMM fromsocket.
Pleasenotethatthe DIMM modulecan onlyfitinone direction due tothe one notches.Wrong
orientation will causeimproperinstallation.Pleasechange the insertorientation.
The motherboardhas6dualinline memorymodule(DIMM)sockets.The BIOSwillautomaticallydetects
memorytype and size.Toinstall the memorymodule,justpushitverticallyintothe DIMM socket.The
DIMM modulecan onlyfitinone direction due tothe notch.Memorysizecan varybetween sockets.

DDR2Introduction
DDR2-SDRAMisconsidered anevolutionaryupgrade overexistingDDR memory.Itmaintainsthe
samecorefunctions,transferring 64bitsofdatatwiceeveryclock cycleforan effectivetransferratetwice
thatofthe front-sidebus(FSB)ofacomputersystem,and an effectivebandwidthequaltoitsspeed x8.
DDR2introducessomenewfeatureswhichallowittorampup tomuchhigherspeeds(with
correspondinglyhigherbandwidth)andhighermemorydensities,all the whileusing less power.DDR2
memoryusesanewformfactor,a240 pinDIMM (DualInlineMemoryModule)whichisnotcompatible
withcurrentDDR memoryslots.UpcomingchipsetsbyInteland othermanufacturerswillsupportDDR2
specifically,and arenotbackwardscompatible.

1.The DIMM slothasanotch,sothe DIMM
memorymodulecan onlyfitinone direction.
2. Insertthe DIMMmemorymoduleverticallyinto
the DIMM slot. Then pushitdown.
DDR1/3/5areChannelA,DDR2/4/6are
ChannelB.
Please notethatDIMM mustbepopulated
inorderstarting atthenearestslotfrom
theATXpower.
3.Closethe plasticclipatbothedgesofthe DIMM
slotstolock the DIMM module.
Reversethe installation stepswhen you wish
toremovethe DIMM module.

the computer.
2.Removeyourserver’schassiscover,necessaryscrewsand slotbracketfromthe computer.
3.Press the expansion cardfirmlyintoexpansion slotinmotherboard.
4.Besurethe metalcontactson the cardareindeed seated inthe slot.
5.Replacethe screwtosecurethe slotbracketofthe expansion card.
6.Replaceyourcomputer’schassiscover.
7.Poweron the computer,ifnecessary,setup BIOSutilityofexpansion cardfromBIOS.
8. Install related driverfromthe operating system.
