All equipment is fully tested before dispatch and carefully designed to
provide you with trouble free use for many years.
We have a policy of supporting products for as long as possible
For a period of one year after the goods have been despatched the
Company will guarantee the goods against any defect developing after
proper use providing such defects arise solely from faulty materials or
workmanship and that the Customer shall return the goods to the
Company’s works or their local dealer.
All non-wear parts are guaranteed for 2 years after despatch and any
defect developing after proper use from faulty materials or workmanship
will be repaired under this warranty providing the Customer returns the

OVERVIEW
The Glensound NOMAD/LODGE is a high quality audio interface for broadcasters. It
is designed to provide the best possible bi-directional audio across the world’s
mobile phone networks and it includes the telecom standard of HD Voice which
provides a switched telephone circuit with 7kHz audio bandwidth. The mechanical
design of the unit is highly robust making it ideal for portable use by journalists,
reporters, engineers and broadcasters.
The NOMAD is a portable unti and is powered either from batteries (6 x AA cells)
12v DC or USB type C connection.
The LODGE is a 1U 19” rack unit with an internal AC mains power supply.
ANTENNA PLACEMENT
The antenna(s) used for this transmitter must be installed to provide a separation
distance of at least 20 cm from all persons, must not be collocated or operating in
conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter, except in accordance with FCC
multi-transmitter product procedures.
ANTENNAS SUPPLIED
The NOMAD is supplied with a pair of ATN1 stubby aerials.
The LODGE is supplied with a pair of ATN2 T-bar aerials.

PANEL LAYOUT & FUNCTIONS (NOMAD & LODGE)
1. DIAL/HANG-UP Button
When a number has been entered, pressing this button will initiate the call. When held down
for at least 2 seconds it will end the current call. The button is Illuminated red when the call is
in progress.
2. MIC ON/OFF
This red LED button is illuminated when the Mic is live. Operation of the button is
configurable.
3. Menu
Pressing the menu button takes you through the various options please see page 12.
4. Nano Sim Card Slot
This is the Sim card slot. WARNING you must make sure you are inserting the sim in
the correct orientation; this is with the connections facing up. Any damage caused by
the incorrect insertion of sim will result in a chargeable repair.
5. Back up
This is the back button to exit from the menu screen or backspace the typed number.
6. Encoder Pot – Headphone, Mic Gain and Menu
This volume pot adjusts the audio level of both the headphone amplifiers. Turning it
clockwise increases the volume and turning it anti-clockwise decreases the volume.
The mic gain adjustment can also be carried out by pressing and holding the control knob in
whilst rotating this will bring up a PPM Meter on the display, aim to set your gain level at 0.
You can also use this to navigate the menus.

A. Power External DC
This is a 2-pin barrel type DC input connector. The centre pin is 2.5mm. It is wired centre pin
+ Volts. It is designed to accept a + volt DC input between 10 and 15 volts.
B. Power Switch
This is used to switch the power. Allows for easy transportation with batteries installed, and
power cycling
C. USB C
Allows use of USB power bricks to power the NOMAD
D. Line Out
This balanced analogue output provides an output from the NOMAD to connect to other
audio equipment such as mixers, recorders, headphone amps etc. The audio that is present
on the output can be altered in the configuration menu.
E. 6.35mm Professional Headphone Jack Socket
Connect headphones here. This headphone outputs are suitable for professional high
impedance (100 – 1000 Ohm). Using lower impedance domestic headphones will reduce
battery life and potentially produce high audio levels in the headphones.
F. Input XLR Balanced Audio Input

G. Battery compartment (NOMAD ONLY)
Two stainless steel thumbscrews hold the 6 x AA battery holder in place. To remove the
battery cover, turn the thumbscrews anti-clockwise until they are completely undone and
then gently slide the cover away taking care not to damage the antenna.
***Please note removing the battery cover will disconnect the battery compartment and
make the NOMAD turn off if no external supply is connected.
H. SMA Aerials
The NOMAD requires 2 antennas for diversity purposes (provides better network
connections than just 1 antenna). The 2 antennas are called primary & secondary but both
are equally required for trouble free working.
I. Fixing Holes (NOMAD ONLY)
These holes in the lid and base can be used for a shoulder strap (not supplied) or for
inserting screws through if the Nomad is to be permanently mounted.
J. IEC Mains (LODGE ONLY)
3 pin IEC Mains inlet accepting a mains input range of 100 – 240 VAC. ********THIS UNIT
MUST BE EARTHED********

NOMAD/LODGE Navigation
Retrieving IMEI Number
1. Switch Device Off using the power switch located on the rear of the Nomad, or
remove the power IEC Power cable if using the Lodge
2. Remove the Sim-Card
3. Power the unit back on while holding down the Encoder button. Keep this pressed
down until you see the IMEI Number
Screens
1. Boot Screen
◦ This is a holding screen while the NOMAD/LODGE boots
2. No SIM Found
◦ This Screen will show when there is no SIM card detected
◦ Once a SIM is detected the unit will automaticity reboot
3. SIM Error
◦ This will show if the NOMAD/LODGE has found a problem with the SIM or it is
unsupported
4. SIM Pin
◦ This will show if the SIM is locked. Enter the PIN using the keypad. This screen
also shows the remaining attempts left before the SIM locks
5. Searching for network
◦ This screen will appear while the NOMAD/LODGE establishes a connection to a
carrier
6. Home Screen
◦ One this screen you are shown the signal strength, carrier name and battery
status (full to empty or plugged in mode)
◦ To dial out on this screen simply start typing the number you wish to call and then
hit the dial button to start the call
7. Menu Screens
1. Save and Recall
▪ To save a number start at the home screen and type in the number you would
like to save, then press the settings button. This will bring up the save
screen. Now using the 0-9 buttons on the keypad select a slot to save the
number to. Once selected you will be taken back to the dial out screen. The
number is now saved
▪ To recall a number, simply press the settings button and the first screen will
be the recall screen. Now use the keypad select a slot from 0-9 and the
number will be called and you will be taken to the dial out screen
2. Silent Mode
▪ This screen enables or disables the on board external ring tone but does not
disable the ring tone on the headphone output
3. Input Mode
▪ This screen lets you switch from Mic, Mic+PH and Line Mode. There is no
change to the gain setting when going from Mic to Mic+PH
▪ When switching into line mode the gain is reduced and the input level is reset
to 0
4. HP End Stop
▪ This screen allows you to set a minimum audio level on the headphones to
prevent headphones from being turned completely off. The audio level is
selectable between ‘off’ or 1-20.

▪ A message will display on the headphone volume screen to let the user know
that end-stop is enable.
5. Auto Answer
▪ This screen has 2 modes enabled or disabled (on/off) to allow unit to auto
answer incoming call
6. ANC (automatic nose cancellation)
▪ This screen has 2 modes enabled or disabled (on/off). When this setting is
on the NOMAD/LODGE will reduce the level of background noise presented
on the input.
7. Line Out
▪ This screen allows the user to choose what audio is on the line out port
(outbound, inbound or mixed audio). The mix is at a 50/50 of outbound and
inbound
8. HP Out
▪ This Screen allows the user to choose what audio is on the headphone port
(outbound, inbound or mixed audio). The mix is at a 50/50 of outbound and
inbound
9. Mic Key Behaviour
▪ this screen let you hose how the Mic Key operates
• Latching (unmuted) This sets the switch to latching on/off, and sets the
mic status to ‘on’ when a call is answered.
• Latching (muted). This sets the switch to latching on/off, and sets the
mic status to ‘off’ when a call is answered.
• Cough mode leaves the mic input permanently ‘on’ but lets the user
easily mute the mic when the mic button is held down. Once released the
mic will unmute
8. On Call Screen
◦ This screen is the default when on a call and will allow a limited selection of
settings. DMTF tones can be sent using the keypad. Auto redial can be enabled
by pressing the settings button and selecting Redial.
Redial notes
◦ Auto redial can only be accessed while in a call. If the call drops or the remote
user hangs up, the NOMAD/LODGE will redial.
◦ End the call on the NOMAD/LODGE to turn off the redial function
