Introduction
Glow EZ Lock Deep Parabolic Softbox is an ingenious, portable version of the
light modier famous for stunning fashion and portraiture images showcasing the
incomparable‘safe and sure’ EZ Lock system. No more clumsy construction, fumbling
with ex resistant rods or struggling in frustration for careful alignment of speedring
holes. The 16-ribbed softbox opens up and closes down,‘umbrella style.’The self-catch
EZ Lock surrounds a thick center shaft, providing a comfortable place for your ngers
to push-lock the mechanism open, and a generous wide button to unlock-release and
close the softbox painlessly. The quick-to-setup deep parabola bullet like assembly has
all the advantages of a metallic magnum style reector without the delicate nature.
This collapsible unit was borne for the road or studio, with sturdy aluminum support
rods for structural stability and extraordinary fabric strength.
The Glow EZ Lock Deep Parabolic Softbox is the ideal shape for the transmission of
light, over short or long distances; the mirror-symmetrical parabola. The variations of
use range from a soft quasi-reverse umbrella to a super hard polished magnum bullet,
depending on your deployment.
This one modier can serve as a key light, as a prodigious reector, imitate an outsized
focusing umbrella, or by adding the gridded outer diuser shield, change the overall
wash of sharper light to a less harsh mood. The reversible opaque Deector disc cover
causes light to bounce throughout and ood the wall of the outer bowl of the softbox,
resulting in a softer spread of indirect light.

Precautions

•Attach strobes with modeling lamps following the recommended bulb wattage
limits.
•Store in a cool and dry environment.
•The EZ Lock Parabolic Softbox and diusers can be hand cleaned with cold water
and mild detergent. Air dry.
•Handle this Parabolic Softbox with care when opening and closing. Be especially
diligent when closing the Parabolic Softbox and hold the Parabolic Softbox.
The EZ Lock mechanism releases with force.

Setup Instructions
1. Remove the EZ Lock Parabolic Softbox from the carrying case.
2. Rest the back of the Parabolic Softbox, the Bowens speedring, on a
at surface and gently spread out the aluminum rods that support the
silvered fabric material.
3. Grasp the aluminum EZ Lock mechanism that is suspended, unlocked,
on the center umbrella shaft.
4. Press down on the EZ Lock ring to slide it down to mate with the hub
of the rod spokes, until it is rmly seated with a click. The EZ Lock
automatically latches, with the button out, when it is the proper position.
5.The Parabolic Softbox is now fully opened and correctly constructed.
Unzip the slit on the side of the softbox, reach inside, and grasp the
speedring insert and the softbox rmly. Align the mount to mate with
your ash and lock into place according to the ash manufacturer’s
instructions, or replace the adapter to match the strobe of choice from
the wide variety of Glow 144mm speedring inserts.
6. Attach the deector disc. This step must be accomplished after the
Parabolic Softbox is assembled and EZ Locked. The softest eect is
reached with the plate in position. The plate is reversible to achieve a
variety of properties.
A. Hold the disk concave prole up to control the center hotspot and
spread the light about the softbox. By reversing the deector disk
and changing the position of placement on the shaft, the light
spread is customizable.
B. Slide the cap on the center shaft.
C. Center the plate hole in the shaft and Press the EZ Lock downward
on the shaft until it meets the hub. The rubber ring will keep the
cap in the place of your choice.

Optional Steps
The light will now bounce o the inner curved deector plate and ood the
walls of the outer bowl of the Parabolic Softbox, resulting in a broad spread
of softer indirect light.
You can ip the deector plate convex side out, creating an alternate light
distribution.
7. Attach the inner diuser. The inner layer can be used with or without
the deector cap. The more diusion, the less dramatic the Parabolic
Softbox wrap. The fabric snaps onto the interior elastic tabs that are on
each rod spoke.
8. Attach the outer diuser. Join the outer diusion fabric to the Velcro
strips that line the inner perimeter of the softbox. Again, the deector
cap, as well as the inner diuser, can be used together to maximize the
softness of the ash.
A. Unfold the diusion material and align the diuser’s corners
with the outside junctions of the opened Parabolic Softbox.
B. Press the strips rmly to seal o light leaks.

Optional Steps
9. Attach the Eggcrate Grid. The grid attaches using the Velcro touch
sensitive strips running along the inside edge of the bowl.
A. Align the shape carefully to match the perimeter shape for the
strongest feathering.
B. Press the surfaces rmly to seal the grid for spill control and drama.
10. Close‘r up!
A. Remove any diusers that are attached.
B. Reach into the center of the hub and hold onto the EZ Lock knob.
C. Press the wide side button into the center while holding the softbox
rmly. The EZ Lock mechanism is released, and the structure relaxes.
D. Complete the closure by bringing the spokes and sections together,
as if closing an umbrella. Bind the closed softbox with the Velcro
strap, slip the bundle into the zippered case and call it a day.
Installing An Optional Parabolic Softbox Adapter Insert Ring
If your ash uses a dierent mount than the Bowens, a Glow 144mm
speedring adapter is needed. The process is simple to exchange the
reector’s mount ring:
1. There is a zipper located on the mounting end of the softbox.
Open the zipper to reveal the speedring.

2. On the mounting end of the softbox, locate the four tabs that are
holding the speedring in place
3. Unscrew and remove the only thumb nut. With a Philips head
screwdriver, loosen the three screws, on the ring plate tabs, enough
to slip the adapter ring free. The reector mount ring slips out
eortlessly from the grasp of the three other tabs.
4. Choose the Glow 144mm Adapter Ring to match the mount style of
your ashhead. The wide ange of the new speedring adapter ts
under the three xed tabs. Securely tighten the three ring plate tabs
and replace the thumb nut. Follow your strobe’s instructions
for installing a light modier.

Glow warrants to the original purchaser that your Glow product shall be free from defects in material and
workmanship for the period of two (2) years from the date of purchase (or delivery as may be required in certain
jurisdictions), or thirty (30) days after replacement, whichever comes later.
Glow’s entire liability and your exclusive remedy for any breach of warranty shall be, at Glow’s option, to repair or
replace the hardware, provided that the hardware be returned to the point of purchase or such other place as Glow
may direct with a copy of the sales receipt or dated itemized receipt. Glow may, at its option, replace your product,
oer to provide a functionally equivalent product, or repair any product with new, refurbished or used parts as long
as such parts comply with the product’s technical specications. Any replacement hardware product will be
warranted for the remainder of the original warranty period or thirty (30) days, whichever is longer, or for any
additional period that may be applicable in your jurisdiction. If the product has been discontinued, the warranty
provider reserves the right to replace it with a model of equivalent quality and function.
This warranty does not cover problems or damage resulting from accident, abuse, misapplication, or any
unauthorized repair, modication or disassembly, improper operation or maintenance, normal wear and tear, or
usage not in accordance with product instructions or connection to improper voltage supply, use of consumables,
such as replacement batteries, not supplied by Glow, except where such restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
Except where prohibited by applicable law, this warranty is nontransferable and is limited to the original purchaser
and the country in which the product was purchased. This warranty gives you specic legal rights, and you may also
have other rights, including a longer warranty duration that may vary under local laws.
To start a warranty claim contact the Glow Customer Service Department to obtain a return merchandise
authorization (“RMA”) number, and return the defective product to Glow, along with the RMA number and
proof of purchase.
