apairofheadphonesforprivatelistening.
GettingStarted:
Asaruleofthumbforallofourproducts,beginwithallofthecontrolsatthemidpoint(12:00o'clock)with
the"NOTCH"and"SHAPE"switches"OFF".ThisisamediumgainsettingwithFLATfrequencyresponse.
The"INPUTGAIN"controlwillbethefirstcontrolthatyouwillwanttodialin.The"INPUTGAIN"isnota
volumecontrol,ratherthiscontrolsetsthelevelofamplificationappliedtotheinputsignaltoboostittoa
useablelevel.Thereasonthisisadjustableistoaccommodateawiderangeofpickupdevices.Forinstanceif
youareusingahighoutputactivepickupsystemyouwillwanttousealowersettingonthe"INPUTGAIN"
thansayifyouareusingapassivetypepickupsystem.Youwillwanttousethehighest"INPUTGAIN"setting
youcanwithoutoverdrivingordistortingthesignal.Toachievethis,whileplaying,slowlyturnthe"INPUT
GAIN"up(clockwise)untilyoubegintohearsomedistortion,thenbackthe"INPUTGAIN"down(counter‐
clockwise)untilthedistortiondisappears.ThiswillgivetheAi1themostsignaltoworkwithandthebest
signaltonoiseratio.Onceyouhavedeterminedthebestsettingforthe"INPUTGAIN"werecommendthat
youtakenoteofthissettingandalsothesettingsonyourinstrumentcontrolsforfuturereference.

LEVEL:ThiscontroladjuststheamountofsignalsenttotheOUTPUT,D.I.OUT,LINEOUT,andHEADPHONE
jacks.
BASS:Thisisan"Active"control.TheBASScontroladjuststheamountofcutorboostinthelowfrequency
(150HZ)range.
TREBLE:Thisisan"Active"control.TheTREBLEcontroladjuststheamountofcutorboostinthehigh
frequency(5kHZ)range.
SHAPE:ON/OFF‐ThistoggleswitchenablesordisablestheSHAPEcontrol.Thiscontrolisamiddipcontrol.In
theONposition,themidfrequencieswillbecutandthehighandlowfrequencieswillbeboosted.
PHASE:Changesthepolarityofthesignal.Phaseaffectsthewaytheguitartopispressurizedbythe
loudspeakers.Whenthesignalsareoutofphasewitheachother,low‐endfeedbackisminimized.Ifyou
experience“positiveacoustic”feedbackonstage,flipthephaseswitchfromitscurrentsettingtokillthe
feedback.Phasewillalsoaffectthewaythesignalmixesliveandwhenrecording.
GNDLIFT:Whenactivated,theGNDLIFTdisconnectsthegroundconnectionbetweeninputandoutput.
Dependingonthegroundingoftheconnectedequipment,thiscaneliminatehumorgroundloops.
POWER:ThisLEDilluminateswhentheAi1isactivated.TheAi1willbecomeactivewhenaplugisinserted
intotheINPUTjack.
INSTRUMENTINPUT:Thisinputisdesignedforallpassiveandactivetypepickupsignals.Whenaplugis
inserted,the9Vbatteryisswitchedon.
BesuretounplugfromtheGUITARINPUTwhentheAi1isnotinusetoconservethebatterylife.Itis
recommendedthatyouturndownyourampormixersinputbeforeplugging/unpluggingfromtheINPUTjack.
Thiswillprotectyourspeakersfromloudpops.

output.Usethe“LEVEL"controltosettheoutputlevelwhichmatchesupbestwithyourPAorrecordinggear
andgivesyoutheleastamountofnoise.

theD.I.OUTjackforsomecreativesignalrouting.Plugastandardinstrumentcablefromthisoutputtoastage
monitor,amp,orunbalancedMicinputonamixer.

9VDC–Thisunitcanrunoff9Vbatteryoryoucanconnecta9Vadapter.Theadaptermusthaveabarrel
connectorwithcenternegative.Thebatterymaybeleftinortakenoutwhenusinganadapter.(Toinstallor
replacethe9Vbattery,simplyopentheeasyaccessbatterydooronthebottomoftheunit.Alwaysremember
tounplugyourguitarcordsfromthepedaltoconservebatterylife.
