Charging your Smartphone
TIP
Please charge your smartphone for a minimum of 6
hours before using it for the first time. You'll find more
information on how to improve your smartphone’s
battery life on page 51.
You need to charge your smartphone before using it for the
first time for a minimum of 6 hours, or when battery power is
low.
Charge your smartphone by plugging the power adaptor
supplied with this device into a 100-240VAC wall socket.
It will take about 6 hours to charge the smartphone fully while
in standby mode (LCD off) using the power adaptor supplied.

Getting Started
Note: Only the AC adapter and USB cable provided with your
device must be used to charge the device.
Switch your smartphone onto standby mode for optimal
charging. Your smartphone is operational while charging.
If the battery is being charged while the device is on, a charging
icon appears in the title bar of the homescreen. After the
battery has been fully charged, a full battery icon appears in
the title bar of the homescreen.
The battery status is displayed in the top right-hand corner. The
remaining battery time is displayed right next to the battery
icon.
Warning: Do not remove the battery from the device while you
are charging it using the AC adapter and/or USB cable.
About the Touch Screen
The smartphone comes with an easy to use multi-touch screen.
Just tap on the screen to activate different functions.
Touch: To use an on-screen item (e.g. application icons,
buttons, menu items, and the characters on the on-screen
keyboard), touch them with your fingertip once.
Touch and Hold: Some on-screen items have a secondary
action (e.g. changing your wallpaper, selecting files or
activating the drag function). To activate the extra function,
touch the item and do not lift your fingertip until the action
occurs.

Getting Started
Drag: Drag an on-screen item (e.g. an application icon on the
home screen) to move it. To drag, touch and hold the item,
then without lifting your fingertip, move it to the target
destination.
Swipe: Swipe your finger up or down on the screen to scroll
through a list or page. On some screens, you may be able to
swipe left or right to change the view. To swipe, touch the
screen and then quickly move your fingertip across the screen
without lifting it. Do not pause on the screen with your
fingertip at the initial point of contact or you may accidentally
drag an item instead.
Double Tap: Quickly tap the screen twice on a page or image to
zoom (the application must support the double-tap/zoom
function). Within the browser, double-tapping a webpage
section will cause the browser to zoom.
About the Orientation Sensor
Your smartphone contains a sensor that will automatically
change the orientation of most screens as you rotate it.
The sensor works best when your smartphone is rotated
perpendicular to the ground (i.e. when the smartphone is held
upright and not flat on its back).
You can switch the auto-rotate screen function on/off using
the device settings (see Settings chapter).
Turning your Smartphone On and Off
Press and hold the Power button for 2-3 seconds to turn the
smartphone on.
It may take a few moments for the phone to turn on and load
its contents.
If your smartphone does not turn on, charging may be
required.
To turn your smartphone off, press and hold the Power button
for 2-3 seconds. When prompted, select “power off”.
