1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1. General
This document describes installation and setup for the Gogo Cloudport. The Cloudport is a device that
downloads and stores digital content from the Gogo Cloud Service, then feeds that content wirelessly to
Gogo AVANCE, SCS, and UCS-equipped aircraft parked nearby. Refer to Figure 2.1 for a block diagram.
General Installation Notes
•Cloudport SHOULD NOT be installed on an aircraft and is NOT airworthy.
•Cloudport requires a dedicated ethernet wired guest network.
•Cloudport is NOT weatherproof and must be installed indoors in a location not exposed to water.
•Cloudport operating temperature range is 0 to 50 degrees C (32 to 122 degrees F).

2.0 DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
2.1. Introduction and Overview
The Cloudport connects wirelessly to Gogo Business Aviation products to provide a secure link to the Gogo
Cloud service. See Figure 2.1.
The Cloudport is compatible with the following Gogo BA products:
•SCS with Software Version 3.0 or later that has FBO/Gogo Cloud Functionality enabled.
•L3 with Software Version 3.0 or later that has FBO/Gogo Cloud Functionality enabled.
•L5i/L5 with Software Version 3.0 or later that has FBO/Gogo Cloud Functionality enabled.
•UCS with Software Version 4.4 or later that has FBO Functionality enabled.
Cloudport can be installed in hangars equipped with AC power and direct access to the internet (a dedicated
ethernet wired guest network). Cloudport can be mounted on a wall, a ceiling, or a flat surface such as a
table. For best performance, install Cloudport in a hangar with direct line of sight to the aircraft to be
serviced. If multiple aircraft are to be serviced by this device, install Cloudport high enough that all aircraft
to be serviced maintain a direct line of sight to Cloudport.
The Cloudport package contains the following:
1. Cloudport
2. Wall mounting bracket and hardware
3. Level IV power adapter DC 12V, 8.33 A, 100W
4. Ethernet cable
5. Antennas

4.0 INSTALLATION AND CONFIGURATION
4.1. Cloudport Location Selection
Install Cloudport in a place where rain or harsh environments will not be present. Do not install Cloudport
in a completely sealed chamber, as the device requires ambient air movement for cooling. Cloudport’s
operating temperature range is 0 to 50 degrees C (32 to 122 degrees F).
Cloudport should be installed in a location near where the aircraft will be parked.
An Ethernet cable is provided with the product. If a longer cable is required, use Category 5 Ethernet cable
or better. The Ethernet cable connecting Cloudport to the internet access point must not exceed 300 feet.
To help installers select an optimal location for installation, Gogo has mapped signal strength according to
equipment location within a typical 25,000 square foot hangar. Refer to Figure 4.1.
Refer to the example signal strength map below when selecting a location to install Cloudport. The darker
green shaded areas represent stronger signal strength. Locate Cloudport to maximize signal strength at
aircraft to be serviced. Make sure aircraft maintains line of sight to Cloudport.

4.2. Cloudport Antenna Orientation
It is important to understand the operation of the antennas to maximize Cloudport’s performance. Each
antenna sends and receives radio signal in a circular pattern perpendicular to the antenna as shown below.
Figure 4.2. Cloudport Antenna Coverage Pattern
If the aircraft to be serviced by Cloudport will be parked in a designated location, focus all three antennas
on that location, with all three antennas parallel to each other and perpendicular to the aircraft as shown
in Figure 4.3.
If the aircraft to be serviced by Cloudport will be parked randomly throughout the hangar, position the three
antennas to cover a wider area as shown in Figure 4.4, with the understanding that this antenna
configuration will result in slower data transfer speeds. In any case, aircraft to be serviced should have a
direct line of sight to Cloudport.

For wider coverage but slower data transfer, position the antennas so that the coverage patterns cover a
wider area as shown in Figure 4.4.

4.3. Cloudport Installation
4.3.1. Select location for Cloudport installation. Locate Cloudport with direct line of sight to all
aircraft to be serviced.
4.3.2. Physically install Cloudport on a wall, ceiling, or horizontal surface. If installing on a wall or
ceiling, use mounting brackets and hardware provided.
4.3.3. Connect three antennas to Cloudport.
4.3.4. Position Cloudport antennas based on location and area to be serviced by Cloudport. Refer
to Section 4.2., Cloudport Antenna Orientation.
4.3.5. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the WAN port on Cloudport. There are two
Ethernet ports on Cloudport. The WAN port is located on the right as shown below.
Figure 4.5. Cloudport Power and WAN Ports
4.3.6. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to a dedicated ethernet wired guest network.
4.3.7. Connect 12VDC power adapter to Cloudport.
4.3.8. Connect power adapter to 110/220VAC.
4.3.9. For best results, perform optional SSID survey using procedure below. The SSID survey
allows installers in “noisy” RF environments to identify a channel not currently in use.
Otherwise, skip to Section 4.5.

4.4. Optional SSID Survey
4.4.1. Download and install a reputable, free wireless survey tool. Gogo recommends Ekahau
HeatMapper, but any reputable wireless survey tool will suffice.
4.4.2. Open wireless survey tool and identify channels with existing SSIDs.
4.4.3. Make note of channels currently in use in the area and write down channels for use during
Cloudport configuration.
4.4.4. Configure Cloudport using procedure below.
4.5. Cloudport Configuration
4.5.1. Connect laptop to wireless network named Gogo-Status.
4.5.2. On laptop, open an internet browser and enter 192.168.18.1 in the search bar.
4.5.3. When prompted, enter Username gogo-admin and Password: intend-sail-west
4.5.4. On laptop computer, select Cloudport Status page.
4.5.5. Verify Internet Status and Cloud Status are green and “AVAILABLE” as shown below.
NOTES:
•Internet Status AVAILABLE indicates ethernet is physically connected and Cloudport has an
internet connection.
•Cloud Status AVAILABLE indicates Cloudport has made a connection to the Gogo Cloud.
•Wireless Status ENABLED indicates Cloudport access point is enabled.
•Wireless Status DISABLED indicates the Cloudport access point is not broadcasting.
•Connected Aircraft Status INITIALIZING indicates Cloudport is comparing content on aircraft
LRU with current Gogo Cloud content catalog.
•Connected Aircraft Status LOADING indicates Cloudport is actively loading content to aircraft
LRU.
