USING THE D2 MK II
The D2 MK II can be used with
any standard mixer or preamp.
Use either a XLR to XLR or
XLR to 1/4” plug low impe-
dance cable. Do not use the
D2 MK II with 48V phantom
power engaged.
When mounting the D2 MK II to the stand you may
need to remove the thread adapter from the mic
holder, depending on the threading of the mic stand.
The D2 MK II should point towards the sound source.
Be aware of the proximity eect (an increase in
bass response) when the mic is close to the sound
source). This can be a good or a bad thing. You
can adjust the bass response by changing the
distance from the mic to the sound source for an
optimum result in dierent applications.
You can also use the bass rollo lters to lower or
remove the bass boost:
- The switch to the left engages a bass roll o lter
that is about 3 dB down at 80 Hz and 5 dB at 50
Hz.
- The switch in the middle engages a bass roll o
lter that is about 3 dB down at 200 Hz and 7 dB at
100 Hz.
- Please note that only one of the bass roll o
lters are to be used at a time.
- The switch to the right engages a lter that lowers
a broad range centered around 5 kHz with a maxi-
mum of about 4 dB.
- Do experiment with mic placement and with the
lters!
If the microphone is placed close to a speaker
during live stage use, feedback may occur. Since
the D2 MK II has a cardioid pickup pattern, it will
mainly pickup sound coming from the front of the
mic. The risk for feedback is therefor greatly redu-
ced.
PRECAUTIONS
- Be careful not to drop the D2 MK II or subject it to
shock since this can destroy the cartridge.
- Store and transport the D2 MK II in it´s padded case.
- Keep the D2 MK II away from extremely high tem-
peratures (60 degrees) and humidity. Do not leave
it in direct sunlight.
- When using the D2 MK
II outdoors, avoid getting
it wet.
- After high-moisture app-
lications such as vocals
on stage performance,
wipe o the D2 MK II with
a dry cloth and permit it to
air dry. Do not store it in a
closed space like a plastic
bag until all moisture has
evaporated.
