TECHNICAL MANUAL

This device can detect the presence of an abnormal concentration of LPG or natural gas in quantities
much lower than generally accepted as the danger threshold. It raises optical (LED) as well as acoustic
(buzzer) alarms on detecting a gas leak. At the same time, it can be equipped to operate a solenoid
valve to cut off the gas supply. It can also be connected to an external Remote Siren/Buzzer.
Technical Specification
• Supply voltage: 230 V~ 50-60 Hz
• Power consumption: Static < 1W
Alarm < 3W
• Sensor: Tin dioxide semiconductor
• Inducing gas - coal gas / natural gas and liquified petroleum gas (LPG)
• Alarm density - 1000 ppm to 5000 ppm
• Alarm operating threshold:
- 10% LEL (Lower Explosive Level)
• Terminals 1-2-3: output relay with change-over contact for connecting extra alarm signals
(terminals 3-1) or a solenoid valve (terminals 3-2)
• Operating signals:
- acoustic through piezoelectric (buzzer) 85 dB at 1 m
- optical, through frontal LEDs (green, yellow, red)
• Protection degree: IP40
• Operating temperature: 0 °C - +40 °C
• Allowed relative humidity: max 80%
• Fire retardant poly-carbonate enclosure
Special Features:
The gas detector can be installed stand-alone to raise an alarm in the event of leakage of combustible
gas. An additional remote alarm & shut OFF valve can also be connected.
b) Alarm Situation: Upon detecting the presence of gas above the alarm threshold, the Red LED will start flashing and the buzzer will sound.
c) Faulty Display: When the Yellow LED flashes along with buzzer, it indicates that the sensor is faulty.
Operation :
a) Warm-up Situation: When the gas alarm is switched ON, the green LED light will flash, indicating the warm up period. The LED will stop flashing
after approximately 3-5 minutes. The green LED will then remain illuminated indicating that the gas alarm is functional.
Installation location:
The gas leakage alarm is to be located as per the specific gravity of the gas in use.
a) Natural gas or coal gas: Natural gas is lighter than air. In this case the gas detector should be installed near the ceiling. It is advised to locate
the alarm 30cm below the ceiling at a distance of about 1.5m away from gas appliances (fig. 1)
b) Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG): Its specific gravity is heavier than air, so it sinks to the bottom. As such, it is advised to install the alarm 30cm
above the floor at a distance of about 1-1.5 meters away from the gas appliance (fig. 2).
c) Should not be installed near doors, windows or exhaust fans.

Product Testing:
There are two methods of testing the product:
a) Through leaking gas: Release combustible gas at about 5 cm from gas convection window of the detector. The Red LED will flash along with the
buzzer warning and there will also be remote warning through the associated network, if connected. When gas density is lower than alarm
initialization, the alarm will stop.
b) Through test / reset button: The unit can be test checked by pressing the test / reset button for 3 seconds. The alarm (along with remote alarm,
when connected) will stop sounding after few seconds.
Note: Avoid testing too frequently with combustible gas since the gas sensitive components can get affected.

Gas cut off
valve

The AFO1B series are emergency automatic shut-off solenoid valves for gas line. They are safety apparatus used in gas pipeline cut-off at an
emergency. The valve can be connected to the alarm systems for gas leaking or the control terminator modules of fire alarm or other intelligent
alarm systems to cut off the gas source automatically or manually either in field or in distance so as to assure safety of gas users. The valve will be
closed automatically in the case of shaking violently. The reopen of the valve requires a manual action. These features meet the regulations and
requirements in safety control and accident handling.
Principle of Operation
The valve utilizes the interactions between momentary solenoid force and permanent magnetic force and spring force to maintain the valve closing
with the pulse and the valve opening with hands.
Principle of the valve closing
The valve is closed with momentary direct current pulse (9-12VDC/1S).
Scheme for capacitor discharge drive circuit
• There are two ways to close the valve. (a) The valve will be closed quickly when a momentary (about 1 second) direct current pulse (9~12VDC)
is given to the solenoid coil. (b) The red handle is pushed down with a hand after the protection cover opening. The closing status will be kept by
the valve itself.
• NOTE - Do not open the protection cover in normal situation so as not to close the valve by mistakes.
• There is only one way to open the valve when it is in closing status. The way for opening is to pull the red handle up with a hand. The opening
status will be kept by the valve itself.
• NOTE - If there are difficulties to pull the red handle up with a hand, special steps should be taken to balance the pressure at the outlet and inlet
of the valve and then try opening again.
• The opening status The valve will be closed automatically due to the magnetic lock design when harmful shaking violently occurs. If the self-
locking function of the valve is not normal or partially lost, please inform the manufacturer to have a check on it.
• The valve closing status should be confirmed by users in field. The valve reset and gas supply restart can be done only when the source of gas
leaking has been find out and the problem has been solved.

Maintenance
The valve opening status and closing status should be checked periodically. If the valve goes wrong, please inform professionals or the
manufacturer to have a repair in time.
• The agency involved in the installation should have relative experience and follow the regulations on gas pipeline installation.
• The location of the valve should be behind the general gas input valve so that the heck on it can be done easily.
• The valve should be installed at the gas flow direction indicated on the valve body. The valve coil should not be upside down. The horizontal or
vertical installations are allowed.
• The valve control wires should be connected correctly. The wires have polarity. The white one is positive and the black one is negative.
• They should not be connected reversely.
• When doing gas pipeline cleaning., the valve should be covered in order to avoid damage to the valve seal materials.
• The valve should be in opening status before the pipeline seal check with the test pressure.
• The valve opening with hands can be carried out when equal pressures have been reached at the inlet and the outlet of the valve.
• Do not get wrong electricity (wrong polarity, wrong voltage or prolonged power on) when the valve will be closed with electricity in order to avoid

Light Settings
The Passive Infrared Detector and Smart Passive Infrared Detector both have settings for light detection and time delays. The light detection option
allows you to decide the light intensity at which the associated device should be switched ON. If you move the Light Setting dial to its maximum
position in a clock-wise manner, the device will get activated only when it detects movement when there is daylight. It will also switch on during
Twilight and Dark conditions. If you keep the Light Setting dial at the center, the device will get activated only when it detects the presence of a
person during Twilight or total Darkness. If you move the dial to its maximum position in an Anti-clockwise direction, the presence detector will
activate the device only if it detects a person in total darkness.
Time Delay Settings
The Time Delay dial allows you to select the period till which the device will remain active after the person leaves the area of detection or after the
device notices lack of activity. The minimum time is 8 to 10 seconds and the maximum time is 5 minutes. For example, if you select maximum time
of 5 minutes, the device associated with the Infrared Detector will remain active for 5 minutes after the person has moved away from the area of
detection. To decrease the time delay, move the dial in the anti-clockwise direction. To increase time delay, move the dial in anti-clockwise direction.
Auto, ON & OFF
The (2M) has an additional switch that has three options: On, Off and Auto. The Auto mode is the default mode in which it detects theSmart PIR
presence of a person and activates the device associated with the detector. In the ON and OFF mode, the detector acts as a simple switch that
activates or deactivates the device associated with it.
Note: 1) For LED loads, use SMPS based power supply with power factor 0.80 or above.
2) Do not connect loads having individual power supply.
