1 SETTING UP THE METIS TALISMAN
1.1 PRELIMINARIES
Please read the following instructions very carefully. This high-precision unit will provide the
best digital signal possible to your wireless active speaker, thanks to its unique technology.
For exacting technicians, musicians, and all high-fidelity music purists who demand the very
best in musical reproduction, we strongly recommend the use of top quality cable.
The connection between the analog and digital sources and the METIS TALISMAN are
critical. Ultra low reflection interconnect cables are absolutely mandatory in analog and
precise impedance SPDIF cables in digital to keep the time integrity that the METIS
TALISMAN Hub is designed to provide. In all typical cases Goldmund recommends using
the special Goldmund Lineal interconnect and digital cables.

Unpack the above-mentioned parts carefully, keep all packaging for future use.

Hub to the factory or to your local
representative for a warranty repair; please
note that it must be repacked in the
original packaging.

1.3 CHOICE OF THE METIS TALISMAN LOCATION
Select a very rigid support, as required for your player transport.
The distance between the METIS TALISMAN Hub and the sources is usually not critical
since the signal is carried in the digital domain. However, you must use coaxial links of
highest quality such as the Goldmund lineal in order to maintain the time accuracy and are
highly recommended, especially for long distances.
For wireless audio link depends on several factors, such as the amount of WiFi equipment
used in proximity of the METIS TALISMAN Hub, as well as the building materials and the
architecture of the room.
Depending on the above mentioned factors, the maximum range will normally be from 5 to
20 meters.
If you want to achieve the best possible sonic result, select an opposition on a shelf or on a
piece of furniture where the METIS TALISMAN Hub is isolated from vibrations of mechanical
components, including the player transport itself.
1. POWER SUPPLY
An automatic switch is provided into the external power unit, the METIS TALISMAN Hub can
be used indifferently with 110 V or 220 V line voltage.
ATTENTION
In 220V area the METIS TALISMAN Hub will function properly for main line voltage between
211V and 257V. In 110V area, the main line must deliver between 105 and 129V. If your
main line is usually out of these tolerances, please consult your GOLDMUND dealer.
The power supply unit can operate indifferently with both 50 and 60 Hz AC line.

1.5 FIRST INSTALLATION & CONNECTIONS
Wiring:
Connect the external power supply cord to the back of the METIS TALISMAN Hub and plug
it into the nearest wall plug. For safety reasons, use only a 3 lugs grounded plug. To get the
best sound from the METIS TALISMAN Hub, avoid any multi-way plugs or extension cords.
Connect a computer, CD/DVD, Blu-ray or any other source to the back panel of the
Goldmund METIS TALISMAN Hub, using either the RCA Digital, USB Audio, Toslink
Optical, or RCA Analog connector. Only one connection per input can be used at once.
Select one of the 4 available inputs for listening using the rear button input selector or using
the remote control (see next chapter for more detail of the user interface).
Please contact your authorized Goldmund retailer to assist you to set up your computer for
use with the METIS TALISMAN Hub.
When the input source is selected, connect your METIS TALISMAN Hub output to your
headphone using the mini jack connector provided on the rear panel of the unit.
Wireless:
The METIS TALISMAN Hub and the associated wireless speakers must be paired. This
means that your Hub can only function with the speaker that is paired with it.
Please contact your official Goldmund representative where you purchased your unit to
install your METIS TALISMAN Hub in a Wireless system.
NOTE
A USB driver needs to be installed on
your computer before to use it as a
source with your unit. Mac and Linux
operating system do not need driver
to be used with the METIS
TALISMAN Hub.
ATTENTION
A residual high frequency noise may
remain audible in some
circumstances if an analog input is
left open and is selected. This
disturbance has no effect on the
amplifier but may be avoided easily
through the application of short-
circuit plugs on all unused inputs.

2 OPERATING THE METIS TALISMAN
2.1 REAR PANEL FUNCTIONS
INPUT SOURCE SELECTION
Cycle through the input by pressing the input selection button, each press select the next
input.
The first 3 positions are for digital inputs, the input 4 is for analog input.
When a digital input has been selected, a white Led is displayed on the front panel only
when the digital source has been locked to the source frequency. The white led is always on
when the USB or Analog input is selected.
OUTPUT VOLUME ADJUSTMENT
The level may be adjusted manually or by remote control. It acts for all channels
simultaneously using the two right buttons on the rear of the unit.
Input Selection Volume + Volume -
NOTE
The selected input is shown by the linear led
indicator on the right of the front panel.
The white led indicates which input is
selected.
If an input is unlocked, the white led will flash
until the input is locked on a signal.
The volume level is shown by the linear led
indicator on the left of the front panel.
During mute mode, the volume indicator will
flash.

2.2 REMOTE CONTROL
Your METIS TALISMAN Hub has a remote control for volume, mute and input selection.
OUTPUT VOLUME ADJUSTMENT
To adjust the global volume use the upper and lower arrow.
INPUT SOURCE SELECTION
The left and right arrow keys are selecting the source to listen. Left key decreases the input,
right key increases the input.
MUTING
The mute circuit is controlled using the remote. To mute or un-mute the METIS TALISMAN
Hub with the remote, press the central key.

3 MAINTENANCE
To clean your METIS TALISMAN use only a soft, clean, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid
using domestic cleaning products.
There are no user serviceable parts inside the METIS TALISMAN Hub. Unauthorized
servicing or alteration invalidates the manufacturer’s warranty.
All enquiries relating to product servicing and operation should be referred to the local
authorized retailer supplying and supporting your Goldmund equipment.
WARNING
Always turn the power off before cleaning your Hub.
