Introduction
Thank you for choosing this In-Car FM Radio with MP3/WMA CD
Player. Not only can you listen to your favourite radio stations, but
you can also listen to your MP3 and WMA CDs.
It’s really simple to use: you can fully operate your car radio directly from the front
control panel. You can even connect auxiliary devices to it.
Throughout this User Guide, the In-Car FM Radio with MP3/WMA CD will be referred
to as the Car Radio.
Safety is important
Use of any electrical equipment should be undertaken with care. Please read the
warnings section on page 18 before using this Car Radio.

Fitting the outer sleeve
Remove the transit
screws from the top of the
car radio.
Remove the outer sleeve
and place into the
dashboard.
Make sure that it is not
angled more than 30º.
DON’T FORGET! Bend the metal tabs on the outer sleeve outwards
and downwards to stop the sleeve from moving.

Fixing Screw
Fitting the support strap
Connect the fixing screw to the
rear of the car radio.
Bend the support strap to suit
the dashboard aperture and
fix to the underside of the
dashboard using the screw and
washer.
Slide the car radio into the
outer sleeve and connect the
spring washer and nut to the
fixing screw.

Tuning to a radio station
Press the POWER button.
Press the MODE button to select
tuner mode.
Press the BAND button to select FM
or MW wavebands.
DON’T FORGET! There are 3 FM
and 1 MW wavebands.
Press the I and I buttons to
search for a radio station.
DON’T FORGET! To fine tune a
radio station, press and hold either
the I or I button to enter
manual tuning mode. “Manual”
will show in the display. Press the
I or I buttons to make fine
adjustments to the frequency.
Storing a radio station
Tune to a radio station as described
previously.
Press and hold one of the PRESET
buttons 1-6 to store the radio station
to your desired preset memory
location.
DON’T FORGET! This will
overwrite any previously stored
stations in the preset memory
location.
Listening to a stored station
Tune to a radio station as described
previously.
Press the desired preset button 1-6
to select your stored station.
Automatic preset storing (AS)
Press and hold the AS/PS button
to automatically search and store 6
radio stations with a strong signal to
the 6 preset memory locations of the
current band.
To stop the search, press the AS/PS
button again.
Preset scan
Press the AS/PS button briefly to
scan through the stations stored in
the 6 preset memory locations of the
current band.
Each stored station will play for
a few seconds before the scan
continues through the 6 presets.
To stop the preset scan, press the
AS/PS button again.
Adjusting the volume
Rotate the VOLUME control
clockwise to increase the volume
and anti-clockwise to decrease it.

Display
Press the DISP button to view
clock, programme type (PTY) and
frequency of the current station.
Adjusting the audio settings
Press the VOLUME button to select
the following audio options: Volume,
Bass, Treble, Balance, Fader.
Rotate the VOLUME button to adjust
the settings.

04 Advanced Settings
The advanced menu contains some
useful features to optimise the
performance of your car radio.
Press and hold the VOLUME button to
enter the advanced menu. Press the
VOLUME button repeatedly to navigate
through the menu items. When the
desired menu item is displayed, rotate
the VOLUME control to adjust the
settings.
TA seek / TA alarm
Determines the action the radio will
take if a newly tuned FM station does
not have TA information:
TA seek
The radio will retune to a different
station that has TA information
TA alarm
The radio will not retune, but will make
an audible beep sound.
PI sound / PI mute
Prevents conflicting AF and PI
information when travelling between
two transmitters.
PI sound
The different PI sounds will be heard.
PI mute
The radio will mute until a strong signal
is established.
Retune L / Retune S
Determines the time period of TA and
PI search.
Retune L = 90 seconds.
Retune S = 30 Seconds.
Mask PI / Mask All
To prevent anomalies during the AF
search caused by non RDS stations and
stations with the same AF, but different
PI codes.
Mask PI
Masks only alternative frequencies
with a different PI code to the current
station.
Mask ALL
Masks stations with a different PI code
and non RDS stations.
Beep Mode
Determines when a “beep” sound is
heard when buttons are pressed.
BEEP 2nd
Beeps only when the secondary
function of a dual function button is
pressed.
BEEP ALL
Beeps when any button is pressed.
BEEP OFF
Disables the beep function.

Loud
Press and hold the Loud button to
increase the Bass output.
Mode
Press the MODE button to choose
between tuner, CD and AUX in mode.
Aux In mode
Connect your chosen audio device to
the AUX in socket on the front of the
unit.
Press the MODE button repeatedly until
AUX is shown on the LCD Display.
Adjust the volume to the desired level.
If the volume level seems low, try
adjusting the volume control of the
connected audio device.

RDS (Radio Data System) is an
information system which is embedded
in the normal FM broadcast.
The RDS Digital data includes the
following:
PI Program Identification Code
PS Program Service Name
AF List of Alternative Frequencies
TP Traffic Programme
TA Traffic Announcement
PTY Programme Type
EON Enhanced Other Networks
Traffic Announcement (TA)
Press the TA button to switch the traffic
announcement mode on. The TA icon
will appear on the display.
This function will interrupt the CD/
Radio whenever there is a traffic
announcement on the selected radio
station or any EON linked station.
To cancel the current traffic
announcement Press the TA button
once.
DON’T FORGET! If the volume
level is set below the threshold
point, the volume level will
increase to the threshold level
during the traffic announcement.
EON TA LO (local) or EON TA DX
(distance) mode.
This feature overcomes the problem of
traffic announcements from distant EON
linked radio stations triggering the TA
feature.
For example,
The radio receives the switching signal
from a distant radio station and tries to
tune to that station.
Because of the distance the radio
cannot receive the broadcast and
switches back to your current station.
This would result in the listener hearing
another station or the sound being
muted for a short time.
Press and hold the TA button to select
either EON TA LO (local) or EON TA DX
(distance) mode.
EON TA LOCAL mode
When the signal strength level of an
EON linked station is below a certain
threshold level, the radio does not
switch to that station.
EON TA DISTANCE mode
With this option The radio tries to
receive information from any of the EON
linked stations.

Alternative frequency (AF)
This radio receives information about
the frequencies being used by nearby
transmitters, this allows the radio to re-
tune to a different frequency providing
the same station when the first signal
becomes too weak (e.g. when moving
out of range).
This means you do not have to retune
the radio as you drive around the
country between different transmitter
areas.
Briefly press the AF button to turn the
AF function on or off.
Regional Links mode (REG On/
Off)
Many local radio stations have limited
coverage and may be linked together
according to their region.
If the signal from one local radio station
becomes weak, the RDS radio can
switch to another local station in the
same region.
If you wish the radio to stay tuned to
the same station regardless of the
signal strength or quality, then you
should turn the Regional facility off.
Press and hold the AF button to toggle
the regional links mode on or off.
Programme type (PTY)
PTY, allows the radio to select stations
by their programme type.
When the programme type is chosen
the unit will search the frequency band
for stations with an identical PTY code
to the one selected.
Press the PTY button to select the
following PTY mode:
PTY Music Group, PTY Speech Group,
PTY Off.
Use the 6 Preset buttons to select the
various PTY codes. They are distributed
as follows:

06 Using the CD Player
CD operation
Insert a CD into the CD slot with the
label side facing upwards.
If a CD is loaded and the Car Radio is
in tuner or Aux mode, press the MODE
button to switch to CD mode and begin
disc playback.
DON’T FORGET! Do not put
anything except a compact disc
into the CD slot. Other objects may
damage the unit.
To eject a disc, press the EJECT
button.
Selecting a track
To select a track, press the I or
I buttons to skip to the desired
track.
During playback, press and hold
either of the I or I buttons
to scan through the current track.
Playback will resume as soon as you
release the button.
Pause play
During playback, press the PAU
button to pause the current track.
Press the PAU button again to
resume playback.
Preview all tracks (INT)
During playback, press the INT
button to play the first 10 seconds of
each track on the CD.
Press the INT button again to stop
previewing and resume playback of
the current track.
Repeatedly play a track
During playback, press the RPT
button to repeat the current track.
Press the RPT again to resume
normal playback of the CD.
Random play (RDM)
During playback, press the RDM
button to play all tracks on the CD in
a random order.
Press the RDM button again to
cancel random play and resume
playback of the current track.
DON’T FORGET! In addition to
audio CDs this unit can play CD-R
and CD-RW type discs. However,
depending on the conditions of the
recording equipment, or the CD-R /
CD-RW disc itself, some CD-R and
CD-RW discs may not play.
The disc is loaded automatically and
the first track will start to play.

MP3/WMA operation
The basic operations when using a CD
encoded with MP3 or WMA files are
the same as when using a standard
audio CD.
MP3 search function
Press the AS/PS button once. MP3
T* is shown in the display.
Rotate the volume control to select a
track number.
Press the SELECT or the BAND/
ENTER button and play will begin at
the start of the track
Searching tracks/folders
Press the AS/PS button twice. *is
shown flashing in the display.
Rotate the volume control to select
the first character of the track or
folder name you want to search for.
Press the SELECT button to confirm.
The cursor will then advance to the
second character.
Repeat steps (2) and (3) to input the
remaining characters of the track or
folder name.
Press the BAND/ENTER button to
begin searching for tracks or folders
that match the search criteria.
If there is more than one track or
folder that matches the search,
rotate the volume control anti-
clockwise to scroll through the
search results. Press the SELECT
button to confirm and play the
chosen track or folder.
DON’T FORGET! You may not
need to enter all of the characters
of the track or folder name. The
unit may be able to find matching
tracks or folders if only a few
characters are input.
Searching directories/folders
Press the AS/PS button three times.
The first folder is shown flashing in
the display.
Rotate the volume control to select
the desired folder.
Press the SELECT button to
confirm. Rotate the volume control
anti-clockwise to navigate through
the tracks contained in the chosen
folder.
Press the SELECT button to confirm
and play the chosen track.
Direct folder navigation
Press the FOLDER DOWN and
FOLDER UP buttons to navigate up or
down the folders contained on the CD.
ID3 Tag (Title/Artist/Album)

Press the DISP button to scroll through
the ID3 tag information (if available) on
MP3 and WMA discs.

07 Troubleshooting
Problem Possible Cause What to do
No Power 1. The car ignition is not

minimum setting.

09 Warnings
Sound levels
Your hearing is very important to you
and to us, so please take care when
using this car radio. It is strongly
recommended that you follow the listed
guidelines in order to prevent possible
damage or loss of hearing.
Establish a safe sound level
Over time your hearing will adapt to
continuous loud sounds and will give
the impression that the volume has in
fact been reduced. What seems normal
to you may in fact be harmful. To guard
against this before your hearing
adapts, set the volume to a low level.
Slowly increase the level until you
can hear comfortably and clearly
and without distortion. Damage to
your hearing is accumulative and is
irreversible. Any ringing or discomfort
in the ears indicates that the volume is
too loud.
Once you have established a
comfortable listening level, do not
increase the sound level.
General Safety
The power supply for the unit is
obtained from the 12 volt car battery,
negative earth.
Safety considerations
Do not use the unit in humid or damp
conditions.
Do not allow the unit to get wet, i.e.
dripping or splashing, as this may cause
damage to the unit.
Consult your dealer if you are ever in
doubt about the installation, operation,
servicing or safety of this product.
Keep this manual handy as a reference
for operating procedures.
Protect this unit from moisture.
If the yellow lead from the unit is
removed from the power supply, or the
battery is disconnected from the car or
becomes discharged, the preset radio
stations stored in the memory, will be
erased and will require reprogramming.
Reset
The only time you should need to press
the reset buttons is:
After completing the installation of the
unit.
If any function buttons do not operate.
When an error symbol is displayed.
Use a ball point pen or a thin metal
object to press the RESET button.
