GoVideo DVR4000 User manual

No Reason to Replace All
Your VHS Tapes
If you’re like most of us, you’ve
got quite a collection of movies -
the Hollywood variety, your kids’
G-rated movie collection, not to
mention all your home movies -
and they’re all on VHS. While DVD
is really exciting and makes movies
sound and look much better, who
wants all those movies you’ve
collected over the years to become
obsolete?
Now you can have your cake
and eat it, too - all in one space in
your entertainment center. Because
the Go-Video DVR4000 plays both
DVDs and VHS tapes in one
integrated system!
Watch a DVD or Listen to
Music, While You Record
You still need some way to tape
your TV shows, right? So the
DVR4000 comes with a top-of-the-
line VCR built right in, capable of
being “programmed” to record 16
events (twice as many as others) up
to a year in advance. And you can
watch a DVD (or listen to a music
CD!) while the VCR records.
Even More Features
The DVD player
contains features found
only on very expensive
DVD models, like
component connec-
tions, playback of
96KHz/24-Bit audio
CDs, zoom, playback of
DTS-encoded DVDs,
audio during 2x scan,
10-Bit Video Digital to
Analog Converter and 27MHz
Advanced Digital Filter.
And the VCR is a top-of-the-line,
4 head, Hi-Fi, MTS Stereo VCR with
many features not found on any
other VCR - such as Complete
Program Record™ (CPR) which
senses the end of your tape and
switches to slow play to make sure
you don’t miss the end of a recorded
TV show. As well as child lock which
disables the buttons on the front of
the unit completely (then you hide the
remote), glow in the dark
remote control buttons, index
search, blank search, date
time stamp, tape remaining
counter and auto clock set
for easy set-up. And yes,
unlike other brands, it will
record DVD to VHS - but
only if your DVD is not copy-
right-protected with
Macrovision.*

A B C D E F G
AFor the simplest hookup.
RF In connects to television antenna
and/or cable. The RF Out jack allows
the DVR4000 to work with any television,
even older models, ensuring satisfaction
with product. (Mono sound.)
BFor stereo sound,
simple hookup.
Composite connections allow a simple
stereo hookup (left and right channels).
The DVR4000 provides extra video and
audio line ins and outs (Note: (C) can
also be utilized) for attaching to other
stereo components, amplifiers, receivers
or stereo televisions. Other VCRs and
DVD players, etc. can also be hooked
up to the DVR4000. When using these
connections, the DVD’s digital audio
sound is “mixed” down to right and left
stereo only.
CExtra stereo audio
connections.
Line Out Audio composite (also “mixed”
down to stereo only) connections can
be used when the DVD portion of the
unit is hooked up through either the
Component Video Out (D) or S-Video
Out (E), or when an extra audio out is
needed.
DOption for DVD
video hookup.
Component Video Out connections are
used with very high-end televisions
which have these hookups available.
They allow the highest level of output
resolution to be seen on-screen. Either
mixed down stereo audio connections
(C) or digital audio connections (F) or
(G) can be used with this.
EOption for DVD
video hookup.
S Video Out is used for newer, higher-
end TVs with S Video In connections.
They give a higher picture quality (500
lines) when viewing DVDs. Either mixed
down stereo audio connections (C) or
digital audio connections (F) or (G) can
be used with this.
FOption for the DVD digital
audio hookup.
Optical connection is used for hookup
if you have an amplifier with Dolby
Digital decoder already inside it. This
connection is optical, known as TosLink.®
GOption for the DVD digital
audio hookup.
Coaxial connection is used for hookup if
you have an amplifier with Dolby Digital
decoder already inside it. This connec-
tion is coaxial.
A or B are “mandatory” connections,
and will allow for complete opera-
tion of both the VCR and DVD player.
C is a stereo option for the VCR
and/or DVD. D or E are options for
DVD viewing only. F and G are audio
(sound) options for DVD only for
use with Dolby Digital (5.1) and
DTS-encoded DVD’s.
