Why Green Audio?
It’s simple stuff. After more than 20 years in the consumer electronics industry, we wondered if there were
more efficient ways to deliver the products most people use.
Green Audio was founded in 2016 with an eye toward reduced environmental impact and labour
efficiencies. We’ve developed a growing line of products to help you enjoy your leisure time at home with
minimal impact on our planet.
Our mandate is to significantly reduce environmental impact by delivering commonly used consumer
electronics products in smarter bulk packaging. We start by reducing the overall footprint of our
packages. Smaller and lighter, our packages consume less non-renewable resources to produce and
transport. If you’re going to use more than one of something, why buy them individually? Bulk packaging
reduces overall size by up to 50%.
We go further by eliminating plastic packaging altogether and by printing single colour on plain cardboard
(as opposed to retail “beauty boxes”). And we only include essential items with our products, i.e., there’s
no frivolous material inside.
Next, we make our packages easy to open, reducing installation time and saving you money. They’re also
designed to be reusable.
Finally, our “waste” is 100% recyclable cardboard. It’s easy to recycle and less likely to end up in a landfill.
Fortunately, this doesn’t require compromising quality or performance. We access the same factories and
designs as our competition, delivering competitively priced products of high value. We just like to think
we do it in a more caring way.
Save time. Help the planet. Thanks for being Green.

Operation
Manual Switching
• Set the unit to manual switching mode by pressing the front panel Auto Source button for three
seconds. The Mode LED will illuminate green.
• Manually select the desired HDMI source by pressing the front panel Auto Source button.
Automatic Switching
• Set the unit to automatic switching mode by pressing the front panel Auto Source button for three
seconds. The Mode LED will illuminate yellow.
The switcher follows the below logic when automatically switching:
• Upon detecting a new input/source connection, the switcher will automatically switch to the new
source.
• If an active source is lost or powered down, the switcher will automatically switch to the first sensed
input starting at input 1 and cycling up (1 > 2 > 3 > 4).
• Upon switcher power reboot, the switcher will automatically switch to the last source. If that
input/source connection isn’t present, the switcher will automatically switch to the first sensed input
starting at input 1 and cycling up (1 > 2 > 3 > 4).

IR Remote Control
• Connect an IR receiver to the 3.5mm IR port on the switcher.
• The included IR remote control features three sections: the top section
controls the switcher, and the bottom two sections control the connected
source and display devices provided they support compatible CEC commands.
RS232 Control
• Connect a 3.5mm to DB9 RS232 cable to the 3.5mm RS232 port on the
switcher.
• Verify the control system is configured to the proper RS232 parameters:
o Baud Rate: 9600
o Data bit: 8
o Stop bit: 1
o Parity bit: none

User Defined EDID Setting
• The HDS 4X1 supports five custom EDID modes that can be user defined and then invoked via the 4-pin
dipswitch. Follow the below process to define the EDID modes.
1. Rename the user defined EDID according to the following format.
EC_xx_xxxx_xxx.bin
l EC: Represents EDID.
l xx: Represents EDID ID. It is 11 - 15.
l xxxx: Represents the video parameter.
l xxx: Represents the audio format.
Example: EC_11_720P_LPCM.bin

© 2021 Green Audio Manufacturing. All Rights Reserved GreenAudioMfg.com
2. Power on the switcher and connect the switcher to the PC with USB cable. The PC will
automatically detect a U-disk named “BOOTDISK”.
3. Double-click the U-disk. A file named “READY.TXT” will show.
4. Copy the user defined EDID (such as EC_11_720P_LPCM.bin) to the “BOOTDISK” U-disk.
5. Reopen the U-disk and verify the filename “READY.TXT” has updated and is renamed
“SUCCESS.TXT.” If yes, the user defined EDID was imported into the switcher.
6. Repeat the above steps to copy additional user defined EDIDs to the “BOOTDISK” U-disk.
7. Remove the USB cable and power cycle the switcher.
8. Invoke the new EDID settings using the below switch settings.

Firmware Upgrade
The HDS 4X1 firmware can be upgraded using the below process. Please note you will need an upgraded copy
of the firmware from the factory prior to this procedure.
1. Prepare the latest upgrade file (.bin) and rename it “USERAPP.bin”.
2. Power on the switcher and connect the switcher to the PC with USB cable. The PC will
automatically detect a U-disk named “BOOTDISK”.
3. Double-click the U-disk. A file named “READY.TXT” will show.
4. Directly copy the latest upgrade file (.bin) to the “BOOTDISK” U-disk.

5. Reopen the U-disk and verify the filename “READY.TXT” has updated and is renamed
“SUCCESS.TXT.”
6. Remove the USB cable.
ARC Mode
• Audio Return Channel (ARC) allows audio from a display to pass “upstream” through an HDMI cable to
an audio processing device, such as an AV amplifier. When ARC mode is active on the switcher, the ARC
stream will pass to the active HDMI source device.
• Please note, only the fourth HDMI input port features ARC.
• The below application shows typical ARC functionality.
