Engine exhaust fumes can cause sickness or death. If it is necessary to run an engine in an enclosed area
use an exhaust pipe extension to remove the fumes. Always try to work in a well ventilated area.

A burst which separates the tyre from the rim parts can cause serious injury or death.

Handle fuel with care it is highly flammable: Do not refuel machine while smoking when machine is near an
open flame or sparks or when the engine is running. Stop the engine.

Sulfuric acid in battery electrolyte is poisonous. It is strong enough to burn skin eat holes in clothing and
cause blindness if it gets in contact with the eyes.

Remove the key and read the instruction manual before attempting to carry out any maintenance or repairs
to the machine.

gravier ou sur des corps qui peuvent être aspirés et centrifugés par les lames et devenir très dangereux.
Les personnes doivent se trouver à une certaine distance. Enlever la clé et lire les instructions avant toute
opération de maintenance et de réparation.
ACHTUNG! CHARFE KLINGEN. Hände und Füße fernhalten. Beim Mähen nicht über chotter, teine
oder andere Fremdkörper fahren, da diese durch die Drehbewegung der Messer angesaugt und
weggeschleudert werden können (Verletzungsgefahr). Nicht in der Nähe von anderen Personen mähen.
Vor jedem Wartungs- bzw. Reparatureingriff den tartschlüssel abziehen und die Gebrauchsanleitung
durchlesen.

Before using the machine it is mandatory to put on the appropriate individual safety devices: body
protection protection gloves security shoes ear protection.

Dear Customer,
thank you for having purchased our Grillo FX27 We are confident that this machine will fully satisfy all
your requirements To use and maintain the mower at its best, we urge you to read and observe carefully
the directions given in this handbook; this will ensure the best possible results and will also safeguard
your investment Please keep this handbook in a safe place It should accompany the machine
throughout its working life
GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND INTENDED USE
The Grillo FX27 machine is a lawnmower with operator on board, designed for the cut of grass in both
the mulching and rear discharge system
ATTENTION
Read carefully before turning the engine on. The following warnings are
important for operator safety
WARNINGS
Caution is the main safeguard in preventing accidents
We urge you to read the following warnings for the mower's use, before starting any work at all Improper
use of the mower and its equipment can be dangerous; to reduce the risks to the minimum, observe the
necessary precautions set out below
1) Read the whole of this manual before turning on and using the mower for the first time
2) Pay particular attention to the warnings and safety labels set out around the mower
3) Before allowing others to use the machine, make sure they are aware of the safety precautions and
how the mower is used
4) Before starting work, always change into suitable working clothes, gloves, boots and goggles
5) Wear special acoustic protection (ear defenders) during work
6) Before turning on the machine, make sure there are no persons around it; especially children
7) Before driving the machine in reverse, make sure there are no persons or obstacles in the way
8) Check the condition of the ground before mowing Make sure there are no stones, sticks or other
objects, which could be run over and become a danger when projected
9) If any impact with a foreign object occurs, disengage the blade, turn off the engine, remove the
ignition key and examine the lawnmower If the machine vibrates, have it repaired
10) Before getting off the mower, turn off the engine, disengage the PTO and remove the ignition key
11) Always drive slowly along uneven paths
12) Keep the speed down when driving down slopes
13) Always turn slowly when driving downhill
14) The user is always liable for any damage caused to third parties
15) Deformed or damaged blades must always be replaced, never just repaired
16) Always use original Grillo spare parts and accessories
17) Only work in sunlight or under effective artificial lighting
18) Only store fuel in suitable containers designed for the purpose
19) Be very careful when working close to a road
20) Tilt and clean the cutting deck only when the machine stands motionless and on a flat ground
21) Allow the engine to cool down before putting the machine away in a closed environment
IMPROPER USE TO BE AVOIDED
22) Do not allow passengers to ride on the machine
23) Do not allow underage children to operate it; use is prohibited to children under 16
24) Do not operate the machine when tired or after drinking alcohol
25) Do not operate the mower near to ditches or verges which could collapse under the weight of the
machine, especially when the surface is loose or wet
26) Do not stop when working up or down slopes
27) Do not allow any fuel spillage and after filling the tank wipe away any spilled fuel before starting the engine
28) Do not tamper with the safety devices or disable them
29) Do not change the engine settings, especially the maximum number of revs
30) Do not rest heavy loads on the seat, the starter safety device could become disengaged

31) Never attempt any adjustments or cleaning with the engine running
32) Never allow anyone to check the machine while you are seated at the controls with the engine running
33) Do not move the machine without the deck: wheelies may result and be very dangerous
34) Worn or damaged exhaust boxes must be replaced
FURTHER SAFETY ADVICE
The above-mentioned warnings could not be enough to avoid any risk, if the operator does not use the
present lawnmower correctly Therefore for your safety we give following advice:
35) The mower blade is very dangerous when rotating: never put hands or feet underneath the cutting deck
36) Do not drive in reverse at high speed
37) It is dangerous to operate the steering levers abruptly with the motor at full power
38) Fill the tank with fuel before starting the engine Only refuel outdoors, always turn off the engine,
keep away from sparks or naked flames, do not smoke! Always replace the cap on the fuel tank and
those on fuel containers properly
39) If the fuel tank has to be emptied, only do so outdoors
40) Do not operate the mower over gravel which could be sucked up and thrown away by the blade,
becoming very dangerous
41) If you have children, hide the ignition key after using the machine
42) CAUTION: to avoid the risk of fire, keep the engine compartment, exhaust box, discharge outlets,
battery, tank area and fuel pipes free from grass, leaves, dirt, etc
43) Do not store the machine inside any building where the engine fumes can reach naked flames,
sparks or bare electric wires

SPARE PARTS
Original spares should always be used as these are the only ones which offer safety and
interchangeability Each order should include the machine serial number and the code of the spare part
needed For engine spares, refers to the information in the specific manual
WARRANTY
The warranty is given in compliance with the current law The dealer will have to give the client a copy of
the registration card of the machine, which they will print up from the Grillo website
For the engine the guarantee of the relative manufacturers apply

-Check the oil level of: the engine (fig 4, ref A), the hydrostatic transmission (fig 5, ref A) and the
stabilizing device (fig 6, ref A)
-Check the tyre pressure: Front wheels 20×10 00-8 (1,2 bar in exercise) - Rear wheel 15×6 00-6 (1
bar in exercise)
-Check the battery voltage, it must not be less than 12 5 Volts; recharge if necessary
BATTERY
Caution The gases released by the battery are explosive, so keep it away from naked flames or sparks
Check the level of the liquid at regular intervals and keep the terminals greased with vaseline
Important: - Do not invert the battery poles
- Do not run the lawnmower without the battery, as it is equipped with a charge regulator
- Be careful not to cause short circuits
RUNNING IN – CAUTION
Change the engine oil and filter after the first 8 hours of work Check for oil leaks or loose screws,
especially those that fix the blades and the wheels Adjust the PTO belts tension with the nut on the
corresponding spring: the spring length has to be adjusted at 85 mm (fig 19, rif A)
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Before turning on the engine always check that:
-the engine cooling intake grilles are clean (fig 7, rif A);
-the engine oil is up to the level (fig 4, rif A);
-the hydraulic oil is up to the level (fig 5, rif A);
-the feed levers (fig 1, n°1) are in the stop position;
-the PTO engagement push button is in the neutral position (fig 1, n°2);
-the cutting deck removal switch is in the “floating“ position (switch light is OFF) (fig 17, ref D);
-the air filter is clean (fig 4, ref D);
-the cutting deck is clean
Fill the fuel tanks (fig 7, ref C) with fuel (petrol) using a funnel fitted with a very fine mesh filter

STARTING THE ENGINE
Insert the ignition key (fig 1, n°3) and turn it until the engine oil indicator light is on Push the throttle
lever to the end in order to automatically start the STARTER (fig 1, n 6) As soon as the engine starts,
release the key and bring the throttle lever back to reach again the engine max revs To switch the
engine off turn the key to the “STOP” position
STARTING WORK
1) Adjust the cutting height using the switch on the dashboard (fig 1, n°4)
2) Adjust the seat (fig 1, n°14) and the levers positions (fig 1, n°7)
3) Accelerate the engine half-way (fig 1, n°6) Do not engage the blades with the engine at
maximum speed Move the steering levers from the rest to the work position; in this way, the parking
brake will disengage and the machine can move Now it is possible to engage the PTO by lifting the
appropriate switch (fig 1, n°2) Always engage the blades some metres before getting into the grass
to cut, so to make sure the cutting deck get cleaned
4) Bring the engine to its full speed
5) Gently operate the steering levers (fig 1, n°1) and start work
6) If you want to get from “rear discharge” mode to “mulching” and vice versa, disengage the PTO (fig 1,
n°2) and move the steering levers to the parking brake position (fig 1, n°1) Grip the appropriate lever
(fig 8, ref A) making sure you are lifting the corresponding position lock (fig 8, ref B) Turn the lever in the
working mode you need Free the position lock until it embeds in its grooved swaging (fig 9, ref A)
FINISHING WORK
Once mowing has been completed, disengage the blades To stop:
1) Move the steering levers to the parking brake position (fig 1, n°1)
2) Set the throttle lever to minimum speed (fig 1, n°6)
3) Turn the engine off by turning the key in the “STOP” position (fig 1, n°3)
GUIDELINES FOR EFFECTIVE USE
The machine can also be used under most demanding conditions Certain measures must be taken and
all devices must be adjusted properly
1) Before starting work check that the deck is perfectly clean without any dried grass or soil crusting
2) Check the terrain before mowing, make sure there are no stones, sticks of foreign objects
3) While mowing keep the engine at maximum revs , adjust the speed to suit the height of the grass
Be careful when coming across tall thick clumps of grass, slow down
4) Sharpen the lawnmower blades regularly; the cut will be better and the engine will not have to work
so hard (fig 22, ref A)
5) After disengaging the PTO, engage the blades some metres before getting into the grass to cut, so
the cutting deck is cleaned and the clutch is protected
6) Keep the grid on the engine clean (fig 4, ref C)
7) Keep the electric controls connection compartment clean (fig 1, ref 15) by using compressed air or
an aspirator Avoid taking in direct contact with water
8) If the grass is wet or very tall, do not cut in the lowest position, but at an intermediate height
9) Check the tension of the belts that work the deck; use the adjuster if necessary (fig 19, ref A)
10) Check that the blades are not worn or damaged
11) Check the engine revs (3350 max)
12) While mowing keep the engine at maximum revs ; if the engine revs drop, slow down for a while to
allow the engine to reach the right level again
13) Check the blades are fitted properly
14) Check the deck is aligned to the ground
15) ATTENTION! Road circulation is forbidden as the machine has no type-approval
MOWING POSITIONS
Use the electrical button on the dashboard to adjust cutting height (fig 1, n°4)
When working on rough terrain, with bumps or humps, it is better to use the deck in the highest cutting
position to avoid impact with the blade
Attention! During the cut the deck removal button (fig 17, ref D) has to be in the “floating” position (switch
indicator light off)

SLOPING GROUND
Steep ground should be tackled in an up-and-down movement, being very careful at direction changes
that the wheels uphill do not meet any obstacles (stones, branches, roots, etc…) which could cause loss
of control over the machine If the drive wheels tend to slip, turn the knob (fig 1, ref 8) clockwise so that
more weight is exerted on the drive wheels, therefore giving more traction
Evaluate the various conditions and be careful in the presence of damp ground and wet grass because
this could cause the mower to slide When going downhill, start off at a slow speed and avoid driving
over dry or cut grass because the wheels could lose their grip
Do not run any risks, check the ground carefully and if you do not feel safe, avoid strong slopes and do
not exceed the speed-limits, which are imposed by your country laws and written also in this manual
(max 17° or 30%)
CUTTING DECK
Mulching system (lever straight up fig 9) This system is designed to cut and chop grass 10/15 cm tall
This operation is best done with dry grass as the turbulence inside the deck mulches it better It is
advisable not to stop the machine after cutting but to continue over the mown lawn for a few minutes to
discharge the grass from the inside of the deck
Inspect the blades regularly and sharpen or replace them if necessary
In some parts of Europe, 2 passes are made when using the mulching method; 1/3 of the height of the
grass is cut in the first pass and the other 2/3 in the second Please evaluate which method best suits
your needs and your type of grass
Should the grass be taller than 15 cm please mow using the cutting deck in the rear discharge method (fig 8)
SAFETY DEVICE TRIGGERING
Always remember that the engine stops each time when:
- the operator gets up from the seat, if the parking brake has not been engaged before
In addition, the engine will not start if:
- the par brake is not engaged;
- if there is no one seated on the driving seat, unless the parking brake has been applied and the blades
have been disengaged;
- the feed levers are not in the stop position;
Attention! When the parking brake is applied, it is possible to leave the driving seat with the engine on
This operation automatically excludes also the PTO running
Moreover, the PTO does not work when the platform is raised for the control of the cutting deck
MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION
CAUTION
- Disconnect the plug before performing any cleaning, maintenance or repair operation. Always
wear suitable clothing and working gloves.
- When the machine or part of it is lifted to carry out maintenance operations, always remember
to use suitable fixing tools such as holders and safety locks.
- When carrying out maintenance operations and/or when the machine is tilted without safety
locks or supports, never leave it unguarded in places where inexperienced people and children
could have easy access to it.
- Protect the environment: carefully dispose of used oils, petrol and any other pollutant product
- Effective maintenance and correct lubrication help to keep the machine fully efficient.
ENGINE
For the lubrication intervals and procedure follow the directions given in the engine manual; it is in any
case indispensable to change the oil and the filter after the first 8 working hours and then every
100 hours. For the petrol engine use SAE 30 oil, 1 9 litres When you change the engine oil, it is
necessary to change also the oil filter (fig 4, ref B) To drain the oil out of the engine, open the lid on the
left side of the engine (fig 4, ref A) Pour in the oil through the lid (fig 4, ref A)
The first precaution to be taken is that the engine is maintained correctly with a clean air filter and the
engine oil up to the level
Keep the engine compartment, the muffler area and the collectors clean Use a vacuum cleaner if possible
Check the air filter (fig 4, ref D) every 8 hours or even more frequently in dusty conditions In order not
to reduce the air needed to cool the engine, the grid on the upper part of the engine (fig 4, ref C) must
always be kept clean

HYDRAULIC TRANSMISSIONS
Check the level in the reservoir with cold engines (fig 5, ref A) If more oil is needed, add engine oil
20W50 (total quantity: 4 5 litres) Carry out this control periodically
Caution Change the oil in the transmissions the first time after 40 hours and then every 200 hours or at
least once a year
The oil must be changed before the 200 hours if:
- the oil is black;
- the oil has a whitish colour (it is contaminated with water);
- there are black coloured residues (partial oil deterioration)
To remove the oil remove the filter (fig 10, ref A) Then install the new filter and pour in oil from the
balance reservoir (fig 5, ref A) Pay attention to possible impurities, which may get into the circuit,
causing serious problems to your machine
When you change the hydraulic oil, you must also change the oil filter; pay attention to the filtration level
Always keep the hydraulic transmissions housing clean to guarantee that the oil is cooled by the
ventilation fins If they are damaged, they have to be replaced
GREASE LUBRICATION POINTS
Find the lubrication points following the scheme (fig 2 no 3) Every 40 hours grease the blade hubs, the
feed levers, the cutting deck lifting parallelogram, the pin connected to 2 points joint of the cutting deck,
the stabilizing cylinder ball-joints
MACHINE STABILIZING DEVICE
The FX 20 has got a device that improves the machine's manoeuvrability on slopes A oildynamic
cylinder (fig 11) on the lower side of the frame intervenes when the rear wheel of the machine is slightly
lifted from the ground and blocks it The oildynamic cylinder is controlled by a pendulum (fig 6, ref B)
that detects the slope In this way, you have an optimum traction uphill and a remarkable stability of the
machine's rear part downhill
Periodically check the oil level in the device (fig 6, ref A) and grease the oildynamic cylinder ball-joints
Never fill the oil reservoir completely to avoid spillage The perfect level is the half of the oil reservoir
capacity Only use hydraulic oil OSO 10
CUTTING DECK TILTING AND BLADES SHARPENING
For the cutting deck control and maintenance proceed as follows:
1) Start the engine;
2) Unhook the two red cutting deck blocking levers (fig 12, ref A);
3) Tilt the foot rest platform until it is stuck in the corresponding rubber buffers (fig 13, ref A);
4) Keep the deck lifting switch pressed (fig 1, no 4) until the complete tilting of the cutting deck (fig 22)
The switch has to be pressed in the direction that approaches the cutting deck to the ground;
5) Release the switch
6) Turn the engine off
7) ATTENTION! Connect the security locks as per fig 23 and remove them only once maintenance
has been carried
It is not necessary to unhook the PTO belt
Attention It is possible to tilt the cutting deck also with the machine's engine turned off However, we do
not recommend this operation in order to allow the alternator integrated on the engine to compensate the
current absorption during the tilting When you tilt the cutting deck with running engine the battery will
live longer and the tilting will be quicker
A blunt blade pulls at the grass giving it an unsightly appearance, the cutting edges of the blades must
therefore be kept sharp at all times As the blades wear they lose their cutting efficiency and tend to
become unbalanced, causing the lawnmower to vibrate; sharpen all three blades evenly
When you replace the blades, it is compulsory to replace also the screw and the respective disc spring
(fig 22, ref B)
To remove a blade, hold it firmly using safety gloves and unscrew the central screw clockwise Replace
the blade, make sure to screw the fixing screw tightly
Caution Always replace damaged or bent blades; never try to repair them!
ALWAYS USE ORIGINAL BLADES!
Once the maintenance is completed, press the deck lifting switch again (fig 1, no 4) to put the cutting
device into the working position When it is parallel to the ground, lower the mobile foot rest platform (fig
13, ref B) and fix the cutting deck with the corresponding red blocking levers (fig 14, ref A)
Note: If the red locking levers should be hard to insert:
- check that the red light of the switch behind the machine seat (fig 17, ref D) is off If the light is on, turn
the light switch off

- check that the cutting deck has finished the tilting phase and is parallel to the ground;
- check that the red blocking levers are well lubricated with grease;
- increase the load on the spring for the cutting deck floating by screwing the adjustment knob (fig 1, no 8)
If this does not give a result:
- loosen the four bolts on the tilting hinges (fig 15, ref A) and adjust the concentricity of the holes of the
blocking levers until they are inserted When the operation is completed, screw the tilting hinge bolts tightly
ADJUSTING THE CUTTING DECK
An even deck is essential for achieving a uniform cut over the whole lawn
With the lawnmower on a flat surface, check the tyre pressures, check the cutting deck's edge distance
from the ground and act on the tie rod (fig 16, ref A) and on the adjusting screw (fig 15, ref B) if
necessary to put it parallel to the ground Before acting on the adjusting screw (fig 15, ref B), loosen the
corresponding fixing screws (fig 15, ref C) If a satisfactory parallel set-up cannot be achieved, contact
an Authorised Service Centre
HOW TO REMOVE THE CUTTING DEVICE
To remove the cutting device, please follow this procedure:
1) Press the switch (fig 17, ref D) until the warning light lights up
2) Loosen the PTO belt stretcher by turning the corresponding lever (fig 17, ref A) and remove the
belt from the cutting deck pulley
3) Carry out points 1-2-3 listed in the paragraph "CUTTING DECK TILTING"
4) When the cutting deck frame wheels lift from the ground, stop the tilting and put the cutting height
indicator in position "2" (fig 2, no 10)
5) Disconnect the connector of the electrical system (fig 20, ref A)
6) Lift the red safety hooks (fig 18, ref A)
7) Catch the cutting deck frame frontally and remove it from its place
Attention Never unlock the switch (fig 17, ref D) when the cutting device is off The cutting deck fixing
arms could violently hit the upper part of the machine with the risk of damaging things or people close to
the machine
To connect the cutting device back to the machine:
1) Approach the hinges to the hooks by lifting and setting them into their groove
2) Tighten the red safety hooks (fig 16, ref B) and connect the electrical system connector (fig 20, ref A)
3) Turn the ignition key into "ON" (without starting the engine) Unlock the switch (fig 17, ref D); the
warning light has to be off
4) Set the PTO belt into the pulley on the deck and tighten it by turning the corresponding lever (fig 17, ref A)
5) Lower the mobile foot rest platform (fig 13, ref B) and fix the cutting deck with the corresponding red
locking levers (fig 14, ref A)
PTO BELT
Attention! This is a special belt, USE ORIGINAL BELTS
To replace it, loosen the tie rod by acting on the corresponding lever (fig 17, ref A) and remove the belt
from the pulley on the cutting deck Loosen the electromagnetic clutch protection (fig 21, ref A) and let it
slide towards the rear part of the machine In this way it is possible to remove the belt completely from
the electromagnetic clutch
To set the tension use a no 13 spanner to turn the nut that adjusts the tension spring (fig 19, ref B)
The spring must be compressed to a length of 85 mm

IMPACT WITH A STONE OR SOME OTHER FOREIGN OBJECT
1) Stop the machine
2) Turn off the engine and apply the parking brake
3) Tilt the cutting device
4) Check the blade fixing screws and the deck condition
MECHANICAL PARKING BRAKE
The parking brake device wire (fig 5, ref B) has to be adjusted The brake is activated by opening the
steering levers outwards (fig 1, no 1) To release the brake just put the steering levers back into the
working position
Always apply the parking brake when you leave the machine
The engine keeps running even if the driver leaves the seat, if the parking brake is engaged If the
parking brake should be hard to apply, you can intervene on the activating wire adjusting the relevant
adjusting screws (fig 5, ref B)
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The electrical system is protected by fuses which, if blown out, cause the whole electrical system to cut out
These are located under the driver’s seat by tilting the seat for the machine inspection There are two main
fuses (fig 17, ref B and C): the general fuse with 25 A/h and the one that feeds the services with 15 A/h
Once the fault has been located and repaired, replace the blown fuse with one of the same rating
Never replace a fuse with another of a different rating.

If the electrical problems still persist even after having changed the fuses, contact the Authorised Service
Centre Never attempt to carry out complex repairs without having the necessary means and technical
knowledge available
HOW THE MAIN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DEVICES WORK
- A safety micro switch detects if the foot rest platform is in the working position (fig 20, ref B)
Otherwise the cutting deck does not work
- On the feed levers there are two micro switches that detect the position and the engagement of the
parking brake
- Under the driving seat there is a micro switch that senses the driver's presence on the machine
- The electrovalve that controls the machine's stabilizing mechanism on slopes (fig 6, ref C) is situated
behind the right hydrostatic transmission Under normal working conditions the electrovalve is
illuminated by a red LED When the machine's stabilizing device intervenes, the red LED goes out
- On the electromagnetic clutch cable there is a diode that prevents returns of current
- The control unit (fig 3) signals when the main devices of the machine are engaged or disengaged
Furthermore, it stores and indicates the machine's working hours
AIR FILTER
Check and clean the air filter (fig 4, ref D) every 8 hours or more frequently if you work in dry and dusty
conditions For the substitution and the exact maintenance intervals, please follow the instructions and
warnings given in the engine manual
PETROL FILTER
The petrol filter (fig 7, ref B) prevents possible impurities in the petrol from getting in contact with engine
parts Clean the petrol filter every 200 hours, and also wash the inside with clean petrol For the cleaning
and the exact maintenance intervals, please follow the instructions and warnings in the engine manual
CLEANING
Wash the cutting deck with a high-pressure water jet machine but do not direct the water jet to the
electrical components Never clean the electric compartment with the high-pressure water jet machine,
use compressed air or a vacuum cleaner instead Keep the hydrostatic transmissions area especially
clean in order to guarantee an efficient cooling Always keep the aspiration grid on the engine and the air
filter clean
TOWING HOOK
The towing hook is located in the rear part of the machine You can tow compaction rollers and trailers
up to max 120 kg weight on a 10% slope
TOWING THE MACHINE WITH A CUT OFF ENGINE
Attention! To be able to move the machine when the engine is cut off you have to act on the hydrostatic
transmissions by-pass levers (fig 5, ref C); pay attention because doing so the efficiency of the self-
sustaining braking system is cancelled
Tow the machine at a very low speed (less than 3.2 km/h) and only over short distances, no
longer than 100 metres, to avoid seizing of the hydraulic pump or of the engines inside the
hydrostatic unit.
STORAGE AND LACK OF USE FOR LONG PERIODS
Store the machine in a dry environment, sheltered from bad weather and, if possible, covered up
If the mower will not be used for a long period (more than one month), disconnect the battery red cable
and follow the directions given in the engine manual; in addition grease all the joints
Check regularly that the battery voltage has not dropped below 12 5 Volts and if necessary, recharge it
WARNINGS FOR TRANSPORT
In case it should be necessary to lift the machine, check the machine’s weight on the identification plate
and use only suitable equipment (ramps, cranes, etc )
If the machine is carried with a lorry or with a towed trailer, set the cutting deck at a low position, apply
the parking brake and tie the machine up to the means of transport using ropes, cables, or chains

ancora di iniziare il lavoro. L’uso improprio del rasaer a e del suo equipaggiamento può risultare
pericoloso; per ridurre queste possi ilità di pericolo, osservare le precauzioni necessarie di seguito
riportate.
1) Leggere interamente questo manuale prima di accendere e mettere in movimento il rasaer a.
2) Prestare particolare attenzione alle ammonizioni e alle etichette di sicurezza attorno al rasaer a.
3) Prima di fare lavorare con la macchina altre persone isogna metterle al corrente delle norme di sicurezza e di

9) Se si urta un corpo estraneo disinnestare la lama, fermare il motore, togliere la chiave d’avviamento
e ispezionare il tosaer a; se la macchina vi ra farla riparare.
10) Prima di scendere dal rasaer a, disinserire la PTO, spegnere il motore e rimuovere la chiave
d’avviamento.
11) Sui viali sconnessi viaggiare a assa velocità.
12) Sulle pendenze, in discesa moderare la velocità.
13) In discesa curvare sempre lentamente.
14) L’utilizzatore è sempre responsa ile dei danni arrecati a terzi.
15) I coltelli deformati o danneggiati devono essere sempre sostituiti, mai riparati.
16) Usare sempre ricam i ed accessori originali Grillo.
17) Lavorare solo con la luce del sole o con uona luce artificiale.
18) Immagazzinare il car urante in contenitori specificatamente costruiti per questo scopo.
19) Fare attenzione quando si lavora vicino ad una strada.
20) Ri altare e pulire il piatto solo a macchina ferma e su terreno pianeggiante.

22) Non permettere passeggeri sulla macchina.
23) Non fare lavorare ragazzi troppo giovani; vietato l’uso ai minori di 16 anni.
24) Non usare la macchina quando si è affaticati e non ere alcolici.
25) Non operare col rasaer a vicino a fossati o anchine che si possono rompere sotto il peso della
macchina, specialmente quando la superficie è staccata o agnata.
26) Non fermarsi quando si lavora in salita o in discesa.

27) Evitare fuoriuscite di com usti ile e dopo aver riempito il ser atoio pulire ogni fuoriuscita sulla
macchina prima di avviare il motore.
28) Non manomettere o disattivare i dispositivi di sicurezza.
29) Non cam iare le regolazioni del motore in modo particolare il numero di giri max.
30) Non appoggiare pesi sul sedile, si potre e disattivare il dispositivo di sicurezza dell’avviamento.
31) Non fare nessun tipo di regolazione o pulizia col motore in moto.
32) Non fare controllare la macchina da nessuno mentre siete seduti alla guida col motore in moto.
33) Non spostare la macchina senza piatto tosaer a, si potre e impennare risultando molto pericolosa.
34) Sostituire le marmitte usurate o danneggiate.
ULTERIORI ACCORGIMENTI PER LA SICUREZZA
Le avvertenze sopra riportate potre ero non essere sufficienti ad evitare ogni rischio, nel caso in cui
l’operatore non si attenesse all’uso appropriato della presente macchina rasaer a. Pertanto, per
maggiore prudenza specifichiamo quanto segue.
35) La rotazione della lama del rasaer a è molto pericolosa, non mettere mai le mani o i piedi sotto al piatto
rasaer a.
36) Non fare retromarcia col motore accelerato.
37) È pericoloso azionare le leve di guida ruscamente, col motore a massimo regime.
38) Prima di avviare il motore riempire il ser atoio di car urante. Fare rifornimento di com usti ile solo
all’aperto, spegnere sempre il motore, stare lontano da scintille o fiamme, non fumare! Riposizionare
in modo sicuro il tappo del ser atoio e dei contenitori di car urante.
39) Se dovete svuotare il ser atoio car urante eseguite l’operazione all’aperto.
40) Non lavorare col rasaer a sopra alla ghiaia che viene aspirata e centrifugata dalla lama, risultando
molto pericolosa.
41) Se avete dei am ini, quando non usate la macchina, nascondete le chiavi di avviamento.
42) ATTENZIONE: per ridurre il pericolo di incendio mantenere il vano motore, la marmitta, i collettori di
scarico, la atteria, la zona ser atoio e conduttura car urante li eri da er a, foglie, polvere, ecc..
43) Non immagazzinare la macchina dentro un edificio dove i vapori del car urante possono arrivare a
fiamme, scintille o fili elettrici scoperti.

Il Grillo FX27 è fornito di una targhetta con il numero della macchina, posizionata lateralmente sul telaio.

interpellare il Rivenditore di Zona.

BATTERIA
A enzione! I gas sprigionati dalla atteria sono esplosivi: tenetela lontano da fiamme o scintille.
Controllate e mantenete i morsetti lu rificati con grasso di vaselina.
Impor an e:
-Evitare di invertire la polarità della atteria.
-Non far funzionare il rasaer a senza la atteria, poiché esso è dotato di un regolatore di carica.
-Fare attenzione a non causare corto circuiti.
RODAGGIO - ATTENZIONE!
Sostituire l'olio motore dopo le prime 8 ore di funzionamento unitamente al filtro.
Controllare che non vi siano perdite d'olio o viti lente, in particolare quelle di fissaggio delle lame e delle
ruote.
Registrare la tensione delle cinghie della PTO mediante il dado posto sulla relativa molla: la molla va
registrata ad una lunghezza di 85 mm (fig. 19, rif.A).

ISTRUZIONI D’USO
Prima di avviare il motore controllare sempre:
-che le griglie di aspirazione per il raffreddamento del motore siano pulite (fig. 7, rif A)
-che l’olio del motore sia a livello (fig. 4, rif.A);
-che l’olio idraulico sia a livello (fig. 5, rif.A);
-che le leve di avanzamento (fig. 1, n°1) siano in posizione stop;
-che il pulsante inserimento PTO sia in posizione folle (fig. 1, n°2);
-che l'interruttore per la rimozione del piatto (fig. 17, rif.D) sia nella posizione “flottante” (luce interruttore spenta);
-che il filtro aria sia en pulito (fig. 7, rif.B);
-che il piatto tosaer a sia en pulito.
Riempire i ser atoi di car urante ( enzina) (fig. 7, rif.C) servendosi di un im uto munito di un filtro molto fine.
AVVIAMENTO DEL MOTORE
Inserire la chiave nel commutatore avviamento (fig. 1, n°3) e ruotarla fino all'accensione della spia olio
motore. Avanzare completamente la leva dell'acceleratore per azionare automaticamente lo starter (fig.
1, n. 6). Appena il motore si sarà avviato, rilasciare la chiave e portare la leva acceleratore quel tanto
indietro per ripristinare il numero massimo di giri del motore. Per spegnere il motore ruotare la chiave in
posizione “STOP”.
INIZIO DEL LAVORO
1) Regolare l’altezza di taglio utilizzando l’apposito interruttore sulla plancia comandi (fig. 1, n°4).
2) Regolare le posizioni del sedile (fig. 1, n°14) e delle leve (fig.1, n°7).
3) Accelerare il motore fino a metà della corsa (fig. 1, n°6). Non inserire le lame col mo ore a
massimo regime. Portare le leve guida dalla posizione di riposo alla posizione di lavoro; in questo modo
il freno parcheggio viene disinserito e la macchina è li era di muoversi. A questo punto è possi ile
inserire la PTO sollevando l'apposito interruttore (fig. 1, n°2). Innestare sempre le lame qualche metro
prima di entrare nell’er a da tagliare, così facendo si pulisce il piatto dai residui del taglio precedente.
4) Portare al massimo del regime il motore.
5) Muovere dolcemente le leve guida (fig. 1, n°1) ed iniziare il lavoro.
6) Per passare dalla modalità “scarico posteriore” alla modalità “mulching” e viceversa, disinserire la
PTO (fig. 1, n°2) e portare le leve guida nella posizione di freno parcheggio (fig. 1, n°1). Impugnare
l'apposita leva (fig. 8, rif.A) avendo cura di sollevare il relativo locco di posizione (fig. 8, rif.B). Ruotare la
leva nella modalità di lavoro preferita. Li erare dall'impugnatura il locco di posizione fino a farlo
incastrare nella relativa gola di fissaggio (fig. 9, rif.A).
FINE LAVORO
Terminata la rasatura, disinnestare le lame. Per fermarsi:
1) Portare le leve di guida nella posizione di freno parcheggio (fig. 1, n°1).
2) Portare il manettino acceleratore (fig. 1, n°6) al minimo.
3) Spegnere il motore ruotando la chiave nella posizione «STOP» (fig. 1, n°3).
REGOLE UTILI PER IL BUON USO
La macchina può lavorare anche in condizioni gravose senza pro lemi. Occorrono alcuni accorgimenti e
tutti i dispositivi registrati in maniera corretta.
1) Prima di iniziare il lavoro controllare che il piatto sia perfettamente pulito senza incrostazioni di er a e
terra.
2) Prima di procedere alla rasatura controllare che sul terreno non vi siano sassi, astoni o corpi estranei.
3) Durante la rasatura tenere il motore a massimo regime, regolare la velocità in ase all’altezza
dell’er a. Prestare attenzione quando si incontrano cumuli di er a alta e fitta, rallentare.
4) Affilare frequentemente le lame del tosaer a; il taglio sarà migliore e il motore forzerà di meno (fig. 22,
rif.A)
5) Dopo aver disinserito la PTO, innestare sempre le lame qualche metro prima di entrare nell’er a
da tagliare. Così facendo si pulisce il piatto e si protegge la frizione.
6) Mantenere pulita la griglia sul motore (fig. 4, rif.C).
7) Mantenere pulito il vano comandi elettrici (fig. 1, rif.15) con aria compressa o con un aspiratore.
Evitare di portarlo a contatto diretto con l'acqua.
8) Se l’er a è agnata o molto alta non tagliare nella posizione più assa, ma in una posizione
media.

9) Controllare la tensione delle cinghie che azionano il piatto; agire eventualmente sul registro (fig. 19,
rif.A).
10)Controllare che le lame non siano usurate o danneggiate.
11)Verificare i giri del motore (3350 max).
12)Rasare sempre con motore a massimo regime; se il motore cala di giri, rallentare in modo da far
riprendere al motore il giusto regime di giri.
13)Controllare il corretto montaggio delle lame.
14)Controllare l’allineamento del piatto con la planarità del terreno.
15)ATTENZIONE! È vietata la circolazione su strada in quanto la macchina è priva di omologazione.
POSIZIONI DI TAGLIO
Per regolare l’altezza di taglio si agisce sul pulsante elettrico posto sulla plancia comandi (fig. 1, n°4).
In presenza di terreno accidentato, cunette o dossi, è conveniente operare con il piatto nella posizione di
taglio più alta onde evitare urti da parte delle lame.
Attenzione! Durante il taglio il pulsante per la rimozione del piatto (fig. 17, rif.D) va tenuto sulla posizione
“flottante” (spia interruttore spenta).
TERRENI IN PENDENZA
I terreni ripidi devono essere percorsi possi ilmente nel senso salita/discesa, facendo molta attenzione nei
cam i di direzione, che le ruote a monte non incontrino ostacoli (sassi, rami, radici, ecc.) i quali potre ero
causare la perdita di controllo della macchina. È possi ile aumentare la trazione delle ruote motrici
avvitando il pomello (fig. 1, n°8) in senso orario. In questo modo parte del peso del piatto viene trasferito
sulle ruote motrici migliorandone l'aderenza.
Valutare le varie situazioni e prestare attenzione in presenza di terreno umido ed er a agnata poiché la
macchina potre e scivolare. In discesa partire a assa velocità ed evitare di calpestare er a secca o
tagliata poiché le ruote perdono aderenza.
Non rischiate, ispezionate ene il terreno e se non vi sentite troppo sicuri evitate i pendii troppo ripidi;
rispettate i limiti di sicurezza imposti dalla legge e riportati sul manuale (max. 17° o 30%).
PIATTO DI TAGLIO
Nella posizione mulching (leva in verticale fig. 9) serve per tagliare e distruggere er e alte 10/15 cm. È
preferi ile eseguire questa operazione con er a asciutta in quanto la tur olenza interna al piatto
permette una migliore frantumazione.
Si consiglia di non arrestare la macchina finito il taglio, ma proseguire per qualche minuto sul prato già
tagliato in modo da scaricare l’er a dall’interno del piatto.
Controllare periodicamente lo stato delle lame, affilarle se necessario sostituirle.
In alcune zone d’Europa si esegue il taglio mulching con 2 passate; con la prima si taglia 1/3 dell’altezza da
tagliare, con la seconda i rimanenti 2/3. Valutare quale tipo di taglio è più adatto alle vostre aspettative e al
vostro tipo di er a. Se l’er a è più alta di 15 cm operare col piatto in modalità scarico posteriore fig. 8.
INTERVENTI DEI DISPOSITIVI DI SICUREZZA
Ricordare sempre che il motore si ferma ogni volta che:
-l’operatore si alza dal sedile, se non è stato precedentemente inserito il freno di stazionamento.
Inoltre il motore non si avvia se:
-se il freno di stazionamento non è inserito;
-se non si è seduti al posto di guida, a meno che non sia stato inserito prima il freno di stazionamento e
disinnestate le lame;
-se le leve di avanzamento non sono in posizione di stop.
Attenzione! È possi ile a andonare il posto guida mantenendo il motore acceso solo inserendo il freno parcheg-
gio. Questa operazione esclude automaticamente anche il funzionamento della PTO. Il funzionamento della PTO
viene inoltre escluso quando viene sollevata la pedana per l'ispezione dell'apparato di taglio.
MANUTENZIONE E LUBRIFICAZIONE
ATTENZIONE!
- Scollegare la candela prima di iniziare qualsiasi in erven o di pulizia, manu enzione o
riparazione. Indossare indumen i adegua i e guan i da lavoro.
- Qualora si sollevi la macchina o par e di essa, usare sempre s rumen i idonei quali suppor i o

fermi di sicurezza.
- Non lasciare la macchina in manu enzione, priva di sicurezze o solleva a, in luoghi accessibili
a persone inesper e, specialmen e bambini.
- Non disperdere mai nell’ambien e olii esaus i, benzina, gasolio ogni al ro prodo o
inquinan e!
- Un’efficien e manu enzione e una corre a lubrificazione con ribuiscono a man enere la
macchina in perfe a efficienza.
MOTORE
Per gli intervalli e le modalità di lu rificazione seguire le norme contenute nel li retto del motore; comunque è
indispensabile sos i uire l’olio e il fil ro dopo le prime 8 ore di lavoro e successivamen e ogni 100
ore. Per il motore enzina utilizzare olio SAE 30, 1,9 litri. Quando si sostituisce l’olio motore, è necessario
sostituire anche il filtro olio (fig. 4, rif.B). Per togliere l’olio dal motore, svitare il tappo posto sul lato sinistro del
motore (fig. 4, rif.A). Inserire l’olio dall’apposito tappo (fig. 4, rif.A).
La prima precauzione è quella di effettuare correttamente la manutenzione del motore, mantenendo
sempre il filtro aria pulito e l’olio motore a livello.
Mantenere en pulito il vano motore, la zona marmitta e collettori utilizzando, se possi ile, un aspiratore.
Controllare il filtro aria (fig. 4, rif.D) ogni 8 ore o anche più frequentemente se l’am iente è molto polveroso.
Per non pregiudicare il passaggio dell’aria che serve a raffreddare il motore, isogna tenere sempre
pulita la griglia posta sulla parte superiore del motore (fig.4, rif.C).
TRASMISSIONI IDRAULICHE
Controllare il livello nel ser atoio con i motori freddi (fig. 5, rif.A). Se occorre, aggiungere olio motore
20W50 (quantità totale: 4,5 litri). Eseguire periodicamente questo controllo.
A enzione! Sostituire l’olio delle trasmissioni la prima volta a 40 ore, e successivamente ogni 200 ore o
una volta all’anno.
Occorre sostituire l’olio prima delle 200 ore se:
-l’olio è di colore nero;
-l’olio è di colore iancastro (l’olio è contaminato con acqua);
-sono presenti dei residui di colore nero (parziale deterioramento dell’olio).
Per togliere l’olio rimuovere il filtro (fig. 10, rif.A). Di seguito installare il nuovo filtro e inserire l'olio dal
ser atoio di compensazione (fig. 5, rif.A). Prestare particolare attenzione ad eventuali impurità che
possono finire nel circuito causando gravi pro lemi alla macchina.
Quando si sostituisce l’olio idraulico sostituire anche il filtro olio; fare attenzione al grado di filtraggio.
Mantenere sempre pulito l'alloggiamento delle trasmissioni idrostatiche per garantire il raffreddamento
dell'olio da parte delle palette di ventilazione. Se queste dovessero risultare danneggiate, occorre
procedere con la sostituzione.
PUNTI DI LUBRIFICAZIONE CON GRASSO
Consultare la collocazione dei punti di lu rificazione seguendo l’apposito schema (fig. 2, n°3). Lu rificare
con grasso ogni 40 ore i mozzi lama, le leve di avanzamento, il parallelogramma dell'alzata piatto, il
perno dell'attacco due punti del piatto, gli snodi sferici del cilindro sta ilizzatore.
DISPOSITIVO STABILIZZATORE DELLA MACCHINA
La FX27 dispone di un dispositivo che migliora la maneggevolezza della macchina lungo le pendenze.
Un cilindro oleodinamico (fig. 11) posto nella parte inferiore del telaio, interviene quando si determina un
leggero distacco da terra della ruota posteriore della macchina e ne locca il sollevamento. Il cilindro
oleodinamico viene pilotato da un pendolo (fig. 6, rif.B) che rileva la pendenza del terreno. In questo
modo si ha un'ottima trazione nelle salite ed una notevole sta ilità del retrotreno nelle pendenze.
Occorre controllare periodicamente il livello dell'olio del dispositivo (fig. 6, rif.A) ed ingrassare gli snodi
sferici del cilindro oleodinamico. Non riempire mai completamente il ser atoio dell'olio in modo da evitare
fuoriuscite. Il livello ottimale è pari alla metà della capienza del ser atoio olio. Utilizzare solo olio
idraulico OSO 10.
RIBALTAMENTO DEL PIATTO E AFFILATURA DELLE LAME
Per l'ispezione e la manutenzione del piatto procedere come segue:
1) mettere in moto la macchina;
2) sganciare le due leve rosse di locco del piatto (fig. 12, rif.A);
3) ri altare la pedana fino ad incastrarla nei relativi tamponi in gomma (fig. 13, rif.A);
4) tenere premuto l'interruttore alzata piatto (fig. 1, n°4) fino al ri altamento completo dell'apparato di taglio (fig.
22). L'interruttore va tenuto premuto nella direzione che porta il piatto ad avvicinarsi al terreno.
