Press the ifferential lock pe al (fig. 1, n. 5) if the rive wheels start to slip. It is also recommen e to
use the ifferential lock when riving ownhill an on slopes to ensure groun a herence of both rear
rive wheels. CAUTION: Do not use the ifferential lock when turning.
HOUR METER
The machine is equippe with an hour meter which has three ifferent functions:
1) It always shows the no. of hours worke , even when the key is not inserte .
2) It isplays the no. of hours to the next engine oil change (OIL CHANGE IN... HS). The first oil
change must be carrie out after the first 20 working hours than every 100 working hours. The
in icator “OIL CHANGE” flashes automatically when it is necessary to change the oil.
3) It isplays the no. of hours to the next lubrication (LUBE IN... HS). Lubrication must be carrie out
every 40 working hours. The in icator “LUBE” flashes automatically when lubrication must be carrie
out.

By epressing the white button, you can choose the type of function to be isplaye on the hour
meter.
4) To reset the hour meter after the engine oil change or after lubrication procee as follows:
Push the button until the relative alarm will flash (OIL CHANGE IN... HS or LUBE IN... HS). Then keep
the button pushe for 6 secon s until the alarm stops flashing.
TIPS FOR EFFICIENT USE
1) Never strain the engine: when fumes are emitte from the exhaust it means that it is being
straine . Slow own.
2) Do not leave the machine out in the rain.
3) Frequently sharpen the mower bla es: the cut will be better an the engine will not be straine too
much.
4) Check the groun before mowing to make sure that there are no stones, sticks or foreign bo ies.
5) Keep the engine at max.rpm uring mowing, a just the spee accor ing to the height of the grass.
6) Keep the gr ds above the eng ne and the cool ng f ns of the hydraul c motor (f g. 4 – 6)
clean.
CUTTING POSITIONS
To choose the cutting height use the lever (fig. 2, no. 8). The eck can be set in 6 ifferent cutting
positions from 25 to 105 mm. In case of uneven groun , humps or ips, put the mower eck in the
highest cutting position to avoi amage to the bla es.
CUTTING ON SLOPES
Slopes must, wherever possible, be mown in the up/ own irection, paying strict attention when
turning that the wheels uphill, o not strike obstacles (stones, branches, roots, etc.) which might
cause the machine to overturn, or lea to loss of control. Assess the con itions an pay attention if
the groun an grass are amp since the machine might slip. Downhill, set off at low spee an o
not pass over ry or cut grass since the wheels may lose grip. Remember that if you engage the
ifferential lock an possibly the front emergency brake (fig. 1, n. 4) the machine is stea ier.
INTERVENTION OF SAFETY DEVICES
The engine stops when:
– The operator gets up from the seat an the parking brake is not engage .
The engine oes not start if:
– The bla e is engage .
– Nobo y is sitting in the river’s seat an the parking brake is not engage .
– The forwar lever is not in STOP position.
MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION
CAUTION!
- D sconnect the plug before perform ng any clean ng, ma ntenance or repa r operat on.
Always wear su table cloth ng and work ng gloves.
- When the mach ne or part of t s l fted to carry out ma ntenance operat ons, always
remember to use su table f x ng tools such as holders and safety locks.

ENGINE
For the lubrication intervals, follow the instructions provi e in the engine manual. Engine o l must be
changed after the f rst 20 work ng hours, and then every 100 hours or every season, together
11

MD22 N/ Translation of the original instructions
w th the o l f lter (f g. 9 – o l dra n plug > use a counter wrench for the f x ng part). Replace the
engine oil filter (fig. 5, A). The first precaution is to ensure that the engine is correctly service with the
air filter, cooling fins an cylin er hea clean an the oil at the correct level. Check the air filter every
4 hours, or even more often in very usty environments. Check the engine cooling intake gri (fig. 4,
A).
HYDROSTATIC AXLE
Check the oil level in the tank when the engine is col : it must be un er the bottom e ge of the steel
strap of the tank (fig. 10). Regularly clean the hy rostatic transmission cooling fans, every 4 working
hours in summer when con itions are very usty (fig. 6). Replace oil after the first 50 working hours,
then every 200 hours. Use 20W50 engine oil, quantity: 2.5 litres. To replace the oil, follow the
instructions below:
1) remove the two plugs (fig. 6, A-B)
2) remove the oil filter plug (fig. 12) an check the filter
3) unscrew tank cap (fig. 10, B)
4) unscrew the cap marke “Gear Chamber” (fig. 11)
5) a oil in position (fig. 10, B). Replace the cap marke “Gear Chamber” when oil comes out.
6) make sure the oil level in the hy raulic axle reaches the bottom e ge of the steel strap of the
tank (fig. 10, A).
FRONT WHEEL AXLE
Grease the wheel pivot pins every 20 hours. Lubricate the steering joints.
AIR FILTER
Check the air filter every 4 hours, or more frequently if working in a very usty environment (fig. 7).
CHECKING THE BLADES AND CUTTING DECK
A blunt bla e tears the grass, leaving it unattractive. The cutting e ges of both bla es must be
sharpene . To remove a bla e, take hol of it firmly, wearing work gloves, an unscrew the central
bolt clockwise (fig. 8, n. 3). Sharpen both cutting e ges using a me ium-grain grin ing wheel an
check that the bla e is balance by stan ing it on a roun bar inserte in the central hole. When
replacing the bla es always replace also the screw an its belleville washer (fig. 8, n. 3). Once the
bla e has been replace , make sure the screw has been firmly tightene . Fastening torque 60 Nm.
IMPORTANT: Replace amage or ba ly worn bla es, never repair them.
110 cm MOWER DECK ADJUSTMENT
This 110 cm mower eck has a ual-function: mulching an rear ischarge. The operator chooses the
function via a lever (fig. 25). Levelness of the cutter eck is essential in or er to obtain an evenly
mown lawn. Park the mower on a flat surface an check that the tyre pressure is correct. Loosen the
screws of the rear arms (fig. 26) an completely unscrew the screw the nut an jam nut. Check the
height of the cutter eck front an rear both in the lowest an the highest cutting position. If the
mower eck is higher in the rear part than in the front shorten the front arms (fig. 27), while if the
mower eck is higher in the front part the front arms have to be lengthene . When the mower eck is
set at the lowest cutting position, a just the screw with nut an jam nut so that both the front an rear
part of the mower eck are set at the same height (fig. 26 – fig. 27).
To set the bla e at 2,5 cm from the groun , the top e ge of the mower eck housing must be at 125
mm from the groun . To carry out this a justment use the ro of the mower eck arms. Once the
bla e belt has been replace use the a justing nut to put it in tension again (fig. 17). Loosen or screw
the nut so that the centering bush of the spring touches the nut in the point in icate by the re arrow.
BLADE – ENGINE BELT
Carry out all the checks an a justments (fig. 16) after having set the mower eck at the lowest
cutting position. Check the belt tensioner spring (fig. 18). Lubricate the bushes of the cutting eck-
engine belt tensioner (fig. 13).
HYDROSTATIC TRANSMISSION – ENGINE BELTS
These belts are self-a justing an o not require any a justment. Simply check the spring tension.
To replace the belts, release the tension spring (fig. 19).

BLADE ROTATION
Bla es are engage an isengage via the switch (fig. 1, n. 6). When the bla es are engage the
engine must be running at me ium r.p.m. (see throttle label) an the machine must be outsi e of the
grass to be cut. Never engage the bla es with the engine at maximum r.p.m. The machine is
equippe with an electromagnetic clutch which also brakes the bla e uring isengagement. Bla es
must stop within 5 secon s from their isengagement. If this is not the case, a just the 3 nuts of the
electromagnetic clutch, placing a 0.3 mm feeler gauge un er the brake plate. N.B. Th s operat on
must be carr ed out by an author sed after-sales serv ce center.
REPLACING THE BELT
The movement is transmitte from the engine to the hy raulic transmission an to the bla es by
means of a V-belt. Replace the belt as soon as t shows s gns of wear! Its replacement an
subsequent a justment are fairly complex proce ures an must be carrie out by an authorise
service centre. ALWAYS USE ORIGINAL BELTS!
ADJUSTMENT OF THE DIFFERENTIAL LOCK
The ifferential lock must engage half-way of the pe al stroke (fig. 1, n. 5). To a just the ifferential
lock, use the a justing screws (fig. 16).
TRACTION RELEASE LEVER
The traction release lever is locate in the rear part of the machine (fig. 20). If the machine breaks
own, move the lever to i le position to allow it to be towe or move by han (fig. 20, B). In the
position (A) the machine is in working con ition.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The electrical system is protecte by a fuse which cuts out the entire electrical system if blown. After
f nd ng and repa r ng the fault, replace the fuse with another of the same rating. Never replace the
fuse w th one of a d fferent rat ng. The electrical system fuses are place on the left-han si e of
the steering wheel (fig. 23, B). If problems persist after all the proce ures escribe above have been
carrie out, contact the Authorise After-Sales Service Centre. Never attempt to make ifficult repairs
unless you have the necessary equipment an technical expertise.
IMPORTANT!
– Take care not to reverse the battery polarity.
– Never operate the mower without the battery, since it is equippe with a charge regulator.
– Take care not to cause short-circuits.
THE MACHINE DOES NOT REMAIN IN NEUTRAL
A just the evice by loosening both the right an left counter-nuts (fig. 22, B) an acting on the
central nut (fig. 22, A).
FORWARD LEVER
A just both the forwar an the reverse spee via the screws (fig. 26, A). If the forwar lever comes
back into i le position once it has been engage , a just it through the self-locking nut (fig. 26, B).
END OF WORK
After mowing, isengage the bla es an rive back with the cutter eck in the highest position. To
stop, move the forwar lever to the STOP position (fig. 3, n. 2), set the throttle lever to the minimum
r.p.m, switch off the engine by turning the key (fig. 1, n. 1) an set the mower eck at the lowest
position.
CLEANING
Thoroughly clean the outsi e of the mower after each use.
STORAGE AND PROLONGED PERIODS OF DISUSE
Store the mower in a ry place, away from atmospheric agents, an preferably cover with a sheet. If
the mower is not going to be use for a long perio (over 1 month), isconnect the re battery cable
(fig. 21) an follow the instructions given in the engine manual. Also lubricate all of the articulate
joints. Regularly check that the battery voltage oes not rop below 12 volts. If it oes, recharge the
battery. If the machine is to be out of use for more than 30 ays, rain the fuel from the engine to
prevent sticky eposits from forming in the fuel intake system or in vital parts of carburettor. To protect
the engine, we a vise you to use a preservative a itive for unlea e petrol. A the a itive to the
fuel in the tank or in the fuel container. Run the engine a little to circulate the a itive through the
carburettor. The engine an carburettor can be store for up to 24 months. NB.: If no a itive is use
or the engine is running on petrol which contains alcohol, rain the fuel tank an run the engine until
there is no fuel left.
