1 safety regulations
• The standards IEC/EN/DIN EN 50083 resp. IEC/EN/DIN EN 60728 must
be observed.
• Do not perform installation and service work during thunderstorms.
• Assembly, installation and servicing should be carried out by authorised
electricians.
• Switch off the operating voltage of the system before beginning with assem-
bly or service work.
• Avoid short circuits!
• Observe the relevant standards, regulations and guidelines on the installa-
tion and operation of antenna systems.
• To ensure electromagnetic compatibility, make sure all connections are tight
and the covers are screwed on securely.
• No liability is accepted for damage caused by faulty connections or inap-
propriate handling of the device.
Check the head-end station according to the safety instructions listed in their
assembly instruction.
Take precautions to prevent static discharge when working on the device!
Electronic devices should never be disposed of in the household rubbish. In
accordance with directive 2002/96/EC of the European Parliament and the
European Council from January 27, 2003 which addresses old electronic and
electrical devices, such devices must be disposed of at a designated collection
facility. At the end of its service life, please take your device to one of these
public collection facilities for proper disposal.

2.4 desCription
The SAT IF distributor SID 162 A is equipped with two SAT IF inputs, one loop-
through output and 10 SAT IF outputs. This enables to distribute two reception
areas to 4 and 6 SAT IF outputs. Using the loop-through output the reception
area1 can be distributed to the 10 outputs. The F sockets of both reception
areas are marked with different colours.
Due to the built-in amplifiers, the losses are compensated so that the output
levels are on average 2 dB higher than the input levels.
If the loop-through output is not used it must be terminated using the terminator
supplied.
The external DC power feed (max. 800 mA ) is used for the power supply of
the integrated amplifiers and the LNBs connected.
—> Note the maximum LNB load of the head-end station.
The SAT IF distributor is designed exclusively for use in a head-end station.

4 installing the sat if input distributor
Before installing or changing a module or accessory, switch off the head-end
station or unplug the power cable from the mains power socket.
Installing the SAT IF input distributor take care that no cables are squeezed off
or injured.
• Remove the front cover – and if present – the bottom plate of the head-end
station.
• Mount the SAT IF input distributor in the respective bushings. Therefore ob-
serve the assembly instructions of the corresponding head-end station.
• Insert the SAT IF input distributor so into the head-end station that the
LNB power connection A is facing the control panel and no cables are
squeezed off or injured.
• Fasten the outer sockets of the SAT IF input distributor G with nuts and lock
washers put under each.

Tighten the nuts until the teeth on the lock washers have penetrated the exte-
rior coating and a good connection is made between the housing and the SAT
IF input distributor.

5 ConneCting the sat if input distributor
5.1 ConneCting the rf ConneCtions
• Connect the outputs E and F to the appropriate inputs of the modules.
using one reCeption area (loop-through mode)
• Connect input D of the SAT IF input distributor to one of the pre-installed
Fterminals in the rear wall of the head-end station using a RF cable made
on-site (length approx. 30 cm).
• Connect the loop-through output C to input B using a RF cable made on-
site.
using two reCeption areas
• Connect inputs B and D of the SAT IF input distributor to the appropriate
pre-installed Fterminals in the rear wall of the head-end station using RF
cables made on-site (length approx. 30 cm).
• Terminate the loop-through output C with the terminator supplied.
5.2 ConneCting the power supply
• Connect the plug of the cable of the power connection A to one of the
contacts for LNB power supply of the head-end station.
Therefore observe the assembly instructions of the corresponding head-end
station.

5.3 lnb power supply
The possible maximum power consumption of the LNB is derived from the
maximum available current provided by the head-end stations LNB port, less
about 100 mA for the operation of the input distributor. Dependent on the
head-end station the LNB voltage is 18 V or 12 V.
Observe the assembling instruction of the corresponding head-end station.
If you would like to supply the LNB with an external voltage, you can interrupt
the power supply to the outputs of the input distributor. To do this open the case
and remove two chip jumpers.

6 final proCedures
After installing the head-end station, retrofitting accessories or installing mod-
ules it is necessary to tighten all cable connections, F terminals and cover
screws in order to maintain compliance with current EMC regulations and to
ensure a reliable operation.
• Securely tighten the cable connections (F connector) using an open-ended
spanner (spanner gap 11 mm).
• Mount the front cover and - if there is one - the base plate (see assembly
instructions of the head-end station).
