ADVERTENCIA: No intente operar esta des-
brozadora hasta que haya leido y comprendido
completamente todas las instrucciones, reglas
de seguridad etc, contenidas en este manual,
el no cumplir con todas estas indicaciones po-
drian provocar accidentes relacionados con
incendios, choques eléctricos o serios daños
personales.
Guarde el manual de operacion y mantengalo
a la mano para cuando lo necesite o necesite
instruir a alguien mas el como utilizar la he-
rramienta.
LEA TODAS LAS INSTRUCCIONES
• Para la operación segura, lea y entienda todas
las instrucciones antes de usar este producto.
Siga todas las instrucciones de seguridad. La
inobservancia de todas las instrucciones de se-
guridad señaladas abajo puede causar lesiones
corporales graves.
• No permita que utilicen esta unidad niños ni
personas carentes de la debida instrucción para
su manejo.
• Nunca arranque ni accione el motor en un
área cerrada o con ventilación insuciente;
la inhalación de las emanaciones del escape
puede ser mortal.
• Limpie el área de trabajo cada vez antes de
usar la unidad. Retire todos los objetos tales
como piedras, vidrios rotos, clavos, alambre o
cuerdas que pudiesen resultar lanzados o en-
redados en el hilo de corte o cuchilla, según
sea el caso.
• Para utilizar este producto póngase anteojos
de seguridad o gafas protectoras marcados con
el sello de cumplimiento de las normas de se-
guridad.
• Póngase pantalones largos de tela gruesa,
botas y guantes. No se ponga ropa holgada
o pantalones cortos, ni ande descalzo. No se
ponga joyas de ninguna clase.
• Mantenga alejados a todos los circunstantes,
niños y animales a una distancia mínima de 15
metros (50 pies).
• No use esta unidad cuando se encuentre fa-
tigado, enfermo o bajo los efectos del alcohol,
drogas o medicamentos.
• No utilice la unidad en condiciones decien-
tes de iluminación.
• Mantenga una postura rme y buen equili-
brio. No trate de alcanzar objetos fuera de su
alcance. Al tratar de hacerlo puede perder el
equilibrio o exponerse al contacto con super-
ficies calientes.
• Mantenga todas las partes del cuerpo aleja-
das de toda pieza en movimiento.
• Para evitar tocar supercies calientes, al utili-
zar esta unidad nunca coloque la parte inferior
de la misma arriba del nivel de la cintura.
• No toque las áreas alrededor del silenciador o
del cilindro de la unidad, estas partes se calien-
tan durante el funcionamiento.
• Siempre apague el motor y retire el cable de
la bujía antes de realizar cualquier ajuste o re-
paraciones, excepto para los ajustes del carbu-
rador.
• Inspeccione cada vez la unidad antes de usar-
la para ver si tiene tornillos flojos, fugas de
combustible, etc. Reemplace toda pieza daña-
da antes de utilizar la unidad.
• El cabezal del hilo, gira durante los ajustes
del carburador.
• Algunos informes médicos indican que, en
algunas personas, las vibraciones de las he-
rramientas manuales pueden contribuir a una
afección médica llamada síndrome de Rayn-
aud. Entre los posibles síntomas está el hor-
migueo, el entumecimiento y la palidez de los
dedos, síntomas presentes normalmente con la
exposición al frío. Se cree que los factores here-
ditarios, la exposición al frío y a la humedad, la
dieta, el fumar y las prácticas de trabajo contri-
buyen al desarrollo de estos síntomas. Actual-
mente se desconoce qué tipo de vibraciones o
cuánto tiempo de exposición a las mismas, si
tal es el caso, pueden contribuir a la mencio-
nada afección. Hay medidas de precaución que
puede tomar el operador para reducir posible-
mente los efectos de la vibración:
a) Mantenga caliente el cuerpo en tiempo frío.
Al utilizar la unidad use guantes para mante-
ner calientes las manos y las muñecas. Los in-
formes médicos indican que el clima frío es un
factor importante que contribuye al síndrome
de Raynaud.
b) Después de cada período de utilización de la
unidad, haga ejercicio para aumentar la circu-
lación de la sangre.
c) Tome descansos frecuentes durante el traba-
jo. Limite la cantidad de exposición al día.

d) Mantenga la herramienta bien cuidada, con
los elementos de sujeción debidamente apre-
tados y siempre cambiando las piezas desgas-
tadas.
Si sufre alguno de los síntomas de esta afección
médica, inmediatamente suspenda el uso de la
herramienta y consulte a su médico con respec-
to a estos síntomas.
• Mezcle y guarde el combustible en un reci-
piente aprobado para gasolina.
• Mezcle el combustible a la intemperie donde
no haya chispas ni llamas. Limpie todo derrame
de combustible.
Aléjese por lo menos 9 metros (30 pies) del sitio
de reabastecimiento de combustible antes de
encender el motor.
• Apague el motor y deje que se enfríe antes
del reabastecimiento de combustible o de
guardar la unidad.
• Deje que se enfríe el motor; vacíe el tanque
de combustible y fije la unidad para inmovili-
zarla antes de transportarla en un vehículo.
REGLAS DE SEGURIDAD ESPECÍFICAS PARA EL
USO DE LA DESBROZADORA
• Cambie el cabezal del hilo, si está agrietado,
desportillado o dañado de cualquier forma.
Asegúrese de que el cabezal del hilo, o cuchi-
lla, según sea el caso, esté debidamente insta-
lado y firmemente asegurado. La inobservan-
cia de esta advertencia puede causar lesiones
corporales serias.
• Asegúrese de que todas las protecciones, co-
rreas, mangos y deflectores estén acoplados
debidamente y de manera segura.
• En el cabezal de corte use únicamente hilo
de repuesto del fabricante original. No use nin-
gún otro accesorio de corte.
Instalar cualquier otra marca de hilo de corte
en esta desbrozadora de hilo puede producir
lesiones corporales serias.
• Nunca utilice la unidad si el deector de
pasto no está montado en su lugar y en buenas
condiciones de funcionamiento.
• Al usar la desbrozadora , sujétela rmemente
por ambos mangos. Mantenga el cabezal del
hilo por debajo del nivel de la cintura. Nunca
corte con el cabezal del hilo a más de 76 cm (30
pulg.) del suelo.

en el tornillo de cabeza hexagonal.

ARNÉS DE SEGURIDAD
1. Enganche el broche del arnés en el asa para
la misma.
2. Ajuste el arnés para dejarlo en una posición
cómoda de trabajo.
INSTALANDO LA CUCHILLA DE CORTE
Instale el soporte A, la
cuchilla de tres aspas,
el soporte B, arande-
la dentada, en este
orden, luego ajuste
con bulón. Alinee el
eje del cabezal con el
agujero del soporte A,
e inserte la llave y lue-
go posicione la tuerca
final y ajuste.
Asegúrese de que las partes están correcta-
mente ajustadas e instaladas.
ABASTECIMIENTO Y REABASTECIMIENTO DE
COMBUSTIBLE
MANEJANDO EL COMBUSTIBLE
• Siempre tenga cuidado al manejar el combus-
tible ya que es altamente flamable.
• Siempre reabastesca en exteriores donde no
haya una fuente de ignición ni la precencia de
chispas.
• No permita que gasolina o aceite tenga con-
tacto con su piel.
• Mantenga la gasolina y el aceite lejos de sus
ojos. Si gasolina o aceite entran en contacto
con sus ojos, lavemos inmediatamente con
agua limpia, si la irritación persiste vea a su
medico inmediatamente.
• Limpie cualquier derrame de gasolina.
MEZCLA DE COMBUSTIBLE
Este producto está impulsado por un motor de
2 tiempos y utiliza una mezcla de gasolina y
aceite para motor de dos tiempos. Mezcle pre-
viamente gasolina sin plomo y aceite para mo-
tores de 2 tiempos en un recipiente de 1 galón
de capacidad y de uso aprobado para gasolina.
Mezcle gasolina y aceite de alta calidad para
motor de dos tiempos con una proporcion de
25:1. No use aceite de uso automotor ni aceite
para motores fuera de borda de 2 tiempos.
Mezcle cantitdades pequeñas a la vez, NO mez-
cle más producto del que pueda utilizar en un
período de 30 días.
LLENADO DEL TANQUE
1. Limpie la superficie alrededor de la tapa del
tanque de combustible para evitar toda con-
taminación.
2. Afloje lentamente la tapa del tanque de
combustible para que la presión del contene-
dor salga. Coloque la tapa en una superficie
limpia.
3. Vierta cuidadosamente el combustible en el
tanque. Evite los derrames.
4. Antes de volver a colocar la tapa del tanque
de combustible, limpie e inspeccione la aran-
dela.
5. Vuelva a colocar inmediatamente la tapa
del tanque de combustible y apriételo fuerte-
mente. Limpie todo derrame de combustible
y muevase por lo menos 9 m del lugar donde
abastecio de combustible antes de encender el
motor.
NOTA: Es normal que salga humo de un motor
nuevo después de usarlo por primera vez.
ADVERTENCIA: Siempre apague el motor
antes de abastecer el combustible. Nunca agre-
gue combustible a una máquina con el motor
en marcha o caliente. Aléjese por lo menos 9
metros del sitio de reabastecimiento de com-
bustible antes de encender el motor. ¡No fume
cerca del motor!
MANEJO DE LA DESBROZADORA
ADVERTENCIA: Siempre coloque la unidad
a su lado derecho. Si se utiliza la unidad co-
locándola en el lado izquierdo del cuerpo, el
usuario se expondrá a las superficies calientes y
la salida del escape, lo cual puede causar lesio-
nes por quemadura.
Sujete la desbrozadora con la mano derecha en
donde se encuentra en interruptor y coloque la

mano izquierda en el otro extremo del mango
tipo “BICICLETA“. Sujete firmemente la unidad
con ambas manos durante la operación.
Se recomienda sujetar
la desbrozadora en
una posición cómoda,
con el mango trasero
a la altura de la ca-
dera. Siempre utilice
la desbrozadora a la
máxima aceleración.
Corte la hierba alta
desde la parte supe-
rior hacia abajo, esto
evitará que la hierba
se enrolle alrededor
del alojamiento del eje y del cabezal del hilo
que pudiese causar daño por calentamiento
excesivo.
Si la hierba se enrolla alrededor del cabezal del
hilo, APAGUE EL MOTOR, desconecte el cable
de la bujía y desprenda la hierba. El recorte
prolongado con el acelerador parcialmente
abierto produce goteo de aceite por el silen-
ciador.
PARA AVANZAR EL HILO DE CORTE
El avance del hilo se
controla golpeando
levemente el cabezal
del hilo contra el pas-
to mientras el motor
funciona a la máxima
aceleración.
1. Haga funcionar el motor a la máxima ace-
leración.
2. Golpee el retén del carrete sobre el suelo
para hacer avanzar el hilo. El hilo avanza cada
vez que se golpea sobre el suelo el retén del
carrete. No mantenga el retén del carrete so-
bre el suelo.
NOTA: La cuchilla de cortar el hilo montada en
el deflector de pasto corta el hilo a la longitud
correcta.
NOTA: Si el hilo se gasta hasta quedar muy cor-
to quizá no pueda avanzar el hilo tras golpear
el cabezal contra el suelo. Si así fuera, apague
el motor y avance manualmente el hilo.
RECOMENDACIONES DURANTE EL USO DE LA
DESBROZADORA
• Mantenga la desbrozadora inclinada hacia el
área de corte; ésta es la mejor área de corte.
• La desbrozadora corta cuando se pasa la uni-
dad de derecha a izquierda. De esta manera se
evita el lanzamiento de desechos hacia el ope-
rador. Evite cortar en el área peligrosa la cual
es la que se encuentra mas cerca de la guarda
protectora.
• Use la punta del hilo para efectuar el recorte;
no fuerce el cabezal del hilo hacia la hierba sin
cortar.
• Las cercas de alambre y de estacas causan des-
gaste adicional en el hilo, incluso la ruptura del
mismo asi como los muros de piedra y de la-
drillo, los cordones y la madera pueden gastar
rápidamente el hilo.
• Evite tocar árboles y arbustos. La corteza de
los árboles, las molduras de madera, los reves-
timientos de las paredes y los postes de las cercas
pueden resultar dañados fácilmente por el hilo.
CUCHILLA DE CORTE DEL HILO DE LA GUARDA
Esta desbrozadora está equipada con una cu-
chilla de corte del hilo instalada en la guarda
protectora.
Para mejores resultados en el recorte, avance el
hilo hasta que la cuchilla lo corte a la longitud
apropiada.
Avance el hilo siempre que escuche que el mo-
tor está funcionando más rápido de lo normal,
o cuando disminuya la eficiencia del corte. Esto
mantendrá un mejor desempeño y mantendrá
el hilo a la suficiente longitud para avanzar
apropiadamente.
ARRANQUE Y APAGADO
ARRANQUE EN FRÍO
Para el arranque debe
colocar la desbrozadora
en una superficie plana y
despejada.
1. Coloque el interruptor
de arranque a la posi-
ción “−” de encendido.
2. Presione el bombín cebador de 8 a 10 veces.
3. Sostenga el mango y mantenga el gatillo
del acelerador presionado, tire enérgicamente
del mango del arrancador hasta que el motor
intente arrancar. No tire de la cuerda del arran-
cador más de seis veces.

tor funcione de 30 a
45 segundos al máximo (aún con el gatillo de
aceleración presionado) y en la posición media
del ahogador para que se caliente. Coloque el
ahogador en la posición abierto .
ARRANCANDO UN MOTOR CALIENTE
1. Coloque el ahogador en la posición de abier-
to , y presionando el gatillo jale la soga de
arranque.
PARA APAGAR EL MOTOR
Para apagar el motor coloque el interruptor de
encendido en la posición de “APAGADO”.
NOTA: Asegúrese de colocar el interruptor de
encendido en la posición “MARCHA“ antes de
intentar encender la máquina.
INSTRUCCIONES DE OPERACIÓN
IMPORTANTE: Nunca levantar el cabezal por
sobre la altura de la rodilla durante la opera-
ción. NO opere esta desbrozadora con otras
personas o animales en los alrededores. Deje
una distancia mínima de 10 metros entre el
operador y otras personas o animales al PODAR
o SEGAR. Dejar una distancia de 30 metros (100
pies) entre el operador y otras personas o ani-
males cuando se RECORTE con la desbrozadora
del carrete porta nylon.
NOTA: NO OPERAR en declive o en una pen-
diente empinada si existe la mínima posibili-
dad de resbalarse o perder el equilibrio.
PODA MINUCIOSA
Colocar la desbrozadora hacia adelante con
una ligera inclinación de tal forma que la parte
inferior del cabezal se encuentre mas cerca del
terreno y el contacto del nylon se encuentre en
un punto adecuado de corte.
PODA EN BARDAS/CIMIENTOS
Acerque la desbrozadora alrededor de la
bardas con eslabones de cadena, bardas de

estacas, paredes de piedra y cimientos, poco
a poco para cortar lo más posible sin golpear
el cabezal contra la barrera. Si hace contacto
con piedras, paredes de ladrillo o cimientos se
romperá o se desgastará. El nylon se romperá
si hace contacto con la barda.
PODA ALREDEDOR DE ARBOLES
Pode alrededor de los troncos de los árboles
con un ligero acercamiento de tal forma de
que el hilo no haga contacto con la corteza del
árbol. Avanzar alrededor del árbol podando de
izquierda a derecha. Acercarse al césped o ma-
leza con la punta del nylon o incline el cabezal
ligeramente hacia adelante.
CORTAR DE RAIZ
Cortar de raíz significa eliminar toda la vege-
tación del terreno. Para hacer esto, se debe
inclinar el cabezal a un ángulo de aproximada-
mente 30 grados hacia la derecha.
Si se ajusta el manubrio se tendrá un mejor
control durante esta operación. No intentar
este procedimiento si existe la mínima posibi-
lidad de herir a otras personas o causar daños
a la propiedad.
ADVERTENCIA: NO BARRA CON LA DESBRO-
ZADORA. Barrer significa utilizar el cabezal
para quitar del camino desechos, etc.
La desbrozadora es una herramienta potente
y puede lanzar pequeñas piedras u otros de-
sechos similares a 15 metros (50 pies) o más,
provocando heridas o daños a la propiedad
cercana como automóviles, casas y ventanas.
ADVERTENCIA: Use únicamente piezas de
repuesto, accesorios y aditamentos genuinos
del fabricante. El obviar esta advertencia pue-
de causar posibles lesiones, un desempeño
deciente de la unidad y la anulación de la
garantía.
REEMPLAZO DEL CARRETE
1. Gire la perilla retén
en sentido contrario
de las manecillas del
reloj y retírela.
2. Retire el carrete vacío del cabezal del hilo.
Mantenga el resorte acoplado al carrete.
3. Quite el sobrante de nylon del soporte.

4. Enganche uno de
los extremos del nylon
en el cabezal y enro-
llelo, asegúrese de
que se capturen los
dos hilos en las ranu-
ras opuestas entre sí
en el nuevo carrete.
Asegúrese de que los extremos de cada hilo so-
bresalgan aproximadamente 6 pulg. (152 mm)
de cada ranura.
5. Pase los hilos por los ojillos en el cabezal del
hilo. Empuje cuidadosamente el carrete en el
cabezal del hilo (tire levemente de los hilos ha-
cia afuera si es necesario). Al colocar el carrete
en el cabezal del hilo, sujete los hilos y tire de
ellos con fuerza para desengancharlos de las
ranuras en el carrete.
6. Presione y gire a la izquierda el carrete hasta
que tope. Sujete el carrete y gírelo levemente a
la derecha. Suelte el carrete. El carrete debe es-
tar asegurado en el cabezal del hilo. De lo con-
trario, sujételo y gírelo hasta que enganche.
7. Asegúrese de que el cabezal del hilo y el
retén del carrete estén instalados en el eje de
impulsión.
8. Vuelva a tirar de los hilos para girar el carre-
te a la posición de corte. Presione el retén del
carrete a la vez que tira del hilo, o hilos, para
avanzar manualmente el hilo y para verificar el
ensamblaje correcto del cabezal del hilo.
LIMPIEZA DEL ORIFICIO DE ESCAPE Y DEL SI-
LENCIADOR
Dependiendo del tipo de combustible utiliza-
do, el tipo y la cantidad de aceite utilizado,
o las condiciones de funcionamiento parti-
culares, el orificio de escape y el silenciador
pueden resultar obstruidos con depósitos de
carbón. Si observa alguna pérdida de potencia
en la herramienta con motor de gasolina, será
necesario un técnico de servicio calificado para
eliminar dichos depósitos a n de restablecer
un buen nivel de desempeño de la unidad.
BUJÍA
Es necesario limpiar o reemplazar la bujía cada
25 horas o anualmente para asegurarse del
buen funcionamiento de la unidad.
Instrucciones para la limpieza:
• Retire del silenciador la bujía.
1. Rocíe la bujía con un limpiador de alta cali-
dad para eliminar depósitos de carbón.
2. Límpielo suavemente con un cepillo de cer-
das de alambre.
3. Instale la bujía, nuevo o recién limpiado, y
vuelva a armarlo completamente antes del
uso.
REEMPLAZO Y LIMPIEZA DEL FILTRO DE AIRE
Para obtener un desempeño apropiado y una
larga vida útil de la unidad, mantenga limpio
el filtro de aire.
1. Para retirar la tapa
del filtro de aire, des-
atornille el tornillo
mariposa, y quite la
tapa.
2. Retire el filtro y lím-
pielo con agua jabo-
nosa tibia.
Enjuáguelo y déjelo secar completamente.
Para obtener un desempeño óptimo de la uni-
dad, reemplácelo anualmente.
3. Vuelva a instalar el filtro.
4. Para volver a colocar la tapa del filtro de
aire, introduzca las orejetas de la parte inferior
de la tapa en las ranuras de la base del ltro;
empuje hacia arriba la tapa hasta que quede
firmemente trabada en su lugar.
TRANSPORTE
Deje que el motor se enfríe, vacíe el tanque de
combustible y asegurar la unidad se mueva an-
tes de su transporte.
ALMACENAMIENTO
ALMACENAMIENTO (MENOS DE 1 MES)
1. Limpie todo material extraño de la desbro-
zadora. Guárdelo en un lugar bien ventilado
fuera del alcance de los niños. Mantengalo
alejado de agentes corrosivos tales como pro-
ductos químicos de jardinería y las sales de des-
hielo.
2. Cumplir con todas las normas locales para el
almacenamiento y manejo seguro de la gasoli-
na. El combustible de sobra debe ser utilizado
en otros equipos con motores de 2 tiempos.
ALMACENAMIENTO (1 MES O MÁS)
1. Drene todo el combustible del tanque en
un recipiente para gasolina. Haga funcionar el
motor hasta que se detenga.

NOTA: Repita esta operación varias veces hasta
cerciorarse que haya quedado sin residios de
combustible.
2. Limpie todo material extraño de la desbro-
zadora. Guárdelo en un lugar bien ventilado
fuera del alcance de los niños. Mantengalo
alejado de agentes corrosivos tales como pro-
ductos químicos de jardinería y las sales de des-
hielo.
3. Cumplir con todas las normas locales para el
almacenamiento y manejo seguro de la gasoli-
na. El combustible de sobra debe ser utilizado
en otros equipos con motores de 2 tiempos.
El motor no arranca:
No hay combustible. Presione la bomba de
cebado hasta que se llene, si no se llena la
bomba, significa que está obstruido el sistema
de conducción de combustible, comuníquese
con un centro de servicio. Si se llena la bomba,
es posible que esté ahogado el motor, prosiga
con el siguiente punto.
Está ahogado el motor. Retire la bujía, gire la
desbrozadora de manera que el orificio de la
bujía apunte hacia el piso. Coloque la palanca
del ahogador en la posición de funcionamien-
to y tire de la cuerda de arranque de 10 a 15
veces. De esta manera se elimina el exceso de
combustible del motor. Limpie la bujía y vuelva

READ ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• For safe operation, read and understand all
instructions before using the trimmer. Follow
all safety instructions. Failure to follow all safe-
ty instructions listed below, can result in seri-
ous personal injury.
• Do not allow children or untrained individu-
als to use this unit.
• Never start or run the engine in a closed
or poorly ventilated area; breathing exhaust
fumes can kill.
• Clear the work area before each use. Remove
all objects such as rocks, broken glass, nails,
wire, or string which can be thrown or become
entangled in the string head.
• Wear full eye and hearing protection while
operating this unit.
• Wear heavy long pants, boots, and gloves.
Do not wear loose fitting clothing, short pants,
jewelry of any kind, or go barefoot.
• Secure long hair so it is above shoulder level
to prevent entanglement in any moving parts.
• Keep all bystanders, children, and pets at
least 15 m (50 ft.) away.
• Do not operate this unit when you are tired,
ill, or under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or
medication.
• Do not operate in poor lighting.
• Keep rm footing and balance. Do not over-
reach. Overreaching can result in loss of bal-
ance or exposure to hot surfaces.
• Keep all parts of your body away from any
moving part.
• Do not touch areas around the mufer or cyl-
inder of the trimmer, these parts get hot from
operation.
• Always stop the engine and remove the spark
plug wire before making any adjustments or
repairs except for carburetor adjustments.
• Inspect the unit before each use for loose
fasteners, fuel leaks, etc. Replace any damaged
parts before use.
• The string head will rotate during carburetor
adjustments.
• It has been reported that vibrations from
hand-held tools may contribute to a condition
called Raynaud’s Syndrome in certain individu-
als. Symptoms may include tingling, numbness
and blanching of the fingers, usually apparent
upon exposure to cold. Hereditary factors, ex-
posure to cold and dampness, diet, smoking
and work practices are all thought to contrib-
ute to the development of these symptoms. It
is presently unknown what, if any, vibrations
or extent of exposure may contribute to the
condition. There are measures that can be
taken by the operator to possibly reduce the
effects of vibration:
a) Keep your body warm in cold weather.
When operating the unit wear gloves to keep
the hands and wrists warm. It is reported that
cold weather is a major factor contributing to
Raynaud’s Syndrome.
b) After each period of operation, exercise to
increase blood circulation.
c) Take frequent work breaks. Limit the amount
of exposure per day.
d) Keep the tool well maintained, fasteners
tightened and worn parts replaced.
If you experience any of the symptoms of this
condition, immediately discontinue use and
see your physician about these symptoms.
• Mix and store fuel in a container approved
for gasoline.
• Mix fuel outdoors where there are no sparks
or flames.
Wipe up any fuel spillage. Move 9 m (30 ft. )
away from refueling site before starting en-
gine.
• Stop the engine and allow to cool before re-
fueling or storing the unit.
• Allow the engine to cool; empty the fuel tank
and secure the unit from moving before trans-
porting in a vehicle.
SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES FOR GAS TRIMMERS
• Replace string head if cracked, chipped, or
damaged in any way. Be sure the string head is
properly installed and securely fastened. Fail-
ure to do so can cause serious injury.

• Make sure all guards, straps, deectors and
handles are properly and securely attached.
• Use only the manufacturer’s replacement
string in the cutting head. Do not use any oth-
er cutting attachment.
• Never operate unit without the grass deec-
tor in place and in good condition.
• Maintain a rm grip on both handles while
trimming. Keep string head below waist level.
Never cut with the string head located over 76
cm (30 in.) or more above the ground.
• The cutting attachment should stop turning
when the engine idles because it is equipped
with a clutch. If the cutting attachment con-
tinues to turn when the engine idles, contact a
service dealer for repair.

FUEL AND REFUELING
HANDLING THE FUEL SAFELY
• Always handle fuel with care, it is highly
flammable.
• Always refuel outdoors where there are no
sparks and flames. Do not inhale fuel vapors.
• Do not let gasoline or oil come in contact
with your skin.
• Keep gasoline and oil away from the eyes. If
gasoline or oil comes in contact with the eyes,
wash them immediately with clean water. If
irritation is still present, see a doctor immedi-
ately.
• Clean up spilled fuel immediately.
MIXING THE FUEL
• This product is powered by a 2-cycle engine
and requires the mixing of gasoline and 2-cycle
oil. Mix unleaded gasoline and 2-cycle engine
oil in a clean container approved for gasoline.
• Do not use any type of pre-mixed gasoline/oil
from fuel service stations, this includes the pre-
mixed gasoline/oil intended for use in mopeds,
motorcycles, etc.
• Use high a quality 2-cycle self mixing oil for
air cooled engines. Do not use automotive oil
or 2-cycle outboard oil.
• Mix the oil into the gasoline with a 25:1 ratio.
• Mix the fuel thoroughly and also each time
before fueling.
• Mix in small quantities. Do not mix quanti-
ties larger than usable in a 30 day period. A
2-cycle oil containing a fuel stabilizer is recom-
mended.
FILLING THE TANK
1. Clean surface around fuel cap to prevent
contamination.
2. Loosen fuel cap slowly to release pressure
and to keep fuel from escaping around the
cap.
3. Carefully pour fuel mixture into the tank.
Avoid spillage.
4. Prior to replacing the fuel cap, clean and in-
spect the gasket.
5. Immediately replace fuel cap and hand
tighten. Wipe up any fuel spillage. Move 9 m
(30 ft.) away from refueling site before start-
ing engine.
NOTE: It is normal for smoke to be emitted
from a new engine during and after first use.
WARNING: Always shut off engine before
fueling. Never add fuel to a machine with a
running or hot engine. Move at least 9 m (30
ft.) from refueling site before starting engine.
Do not smoke near the engine!
OPERATING THE TRIMMER
WARNING: Always place the motor head to
your right side. If you place the trimmer motor
on your left side, you will be exposed to the
motor heat and muffler outlet, this can cause
posible serious injury.

Always operate trimmer at full throttle. Cut tall
grass from the top down. This will prevent grass
from wrapping around the driveshaft housing
and string head which may cause damage from
overheating. If grass becomes wrapped around
the string head, STOP THE ENGINE, disconnect
the spark plug wire, and remove the grass. Pro-
longed cutting at partial throttle will result in
oil dripping from the muffler.
ADVANCING THE STRING
String advance is con-
trolled by tapping

3. Several taps may be required until string
strikes the cut off blade.
4. Resume trimming.
NOTE: If the string is worn too short you may
not be able to advance the string by tapping
it on the ground. If so, STOP THE ENGINE, and
manually advance the string.
CUTTING TIPS
• Keep the trimmer tilted toward the area be-
ing cut; this is the best cutting area.
• Do not cut in dangerous cutting area.
• Use the tip of string to do the cutting; do not
force string head into uncut grass.
• Wire and picket fences cause extra string
wear, even breakage. Stone and brick walls,
curbs, and wood may wear string rapidly.
• Avoid trees and shrubs. Tree bark, wood
moldings, siding, and fence posts can easily be
damaged by the string.
GRASS DEFLECTOR LINE TRIMMING CUTOFF
BLADE
This trimmer is equipped with a line trimming
cut-off blade on the grass deflector.
For best cutting, advance string until it is
trimmed to length by the cut-off blade. Ad-
vance string whenever you hear the engine
running faster than normal.
This will maintain best performance and keep
string long enough to advance properly.
STARTING AND STOPPING
TO START A COLD ENGINE
1. Lay trimmer on
a flat, bare surface.
Move switch to “RUN”
position.
2. Push primer bulb 8
to 10 times.
3. Depress interlock
and throttle switch,
squeeze trigger and
pull starter rope until
engine tries to run.
(No more than 6 pulls.)
4. Set choke lever to
half choke position .
5. Hold trigger and
pull starter rope until
engine runs.
6. Run engine 30 to 45 seconds at full throttle
(with trigger depressed fully) on half choke
position to warm up. Move choke lever to run
position .
TO START A WARM ENGINE
1. Move choke lever to run position .
2. Hold trigger and pull starter rope until en-
gine runs.
TO STOP THE ENGINE
To stop the engine, depress the switch to
“STOP” position.
NOTE: Be sure to return the stop switch to the
“RUN” position before trying to start unit.
ADDITIONAL OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT: Do not lift the head above the
height of the knee during the operation. DO
NOT operate this trimmer with other people
or animals nearby. Leave a minimum distance
of 10 meters between the operator and other
people or animals when MOWING or PRUN-
ING. Leave a distance of 30 meters (100 feet)
between the operator and other people or an-
imals when trimming with the trimmer spool
holder nylon.
NOTE: DO NOT operate on slopes or steep
slopes if there is the slightest chance of slip-
ping or losing balance.
PRUNING
Move the trimmer forward with a slight tilt so
the head is closer to the ground and nylon con-
tact point is in a proper court.
PRUNING FENCES / FOUNDATIONS
Bring the trimmer close and around chain link
fences, picket fences or stone walls and foun-
dations, little by little to cut as much as pos-
sible without hitting the head against the wall.
If you make contact with stones, brick walls or
foundations, string will break or wear out. The
nylon will break if it meets the wall.
TREE PRUNING
Trim around the trunks of trees with a light
approach so that the string don’t touch the
tree bark. Advance around the tree, pruning
from left to right. Approaching the grass or
weeds with nylon tip or tilt the head slightly
forward.

ROOT CUTTING
Root cutting means eliminating all ground
vegetation. To do this, the head should be
tilted at an angle of approximately 30 degrees
to the right.
If you adjust the handle you will have a better
control during this operation. Do not attempt
to proceed if there is the slightest chance of
hurting other people or damage properties.
WARNING: DO NOT SWEEP WITH THE GAS
TRIMMER. Sweeping means to use the nylon
head to remove debris, etc.
The gas trimmer is a powerful tool and can
throw small stones or other similar waste to
15 meters (50 feet) or more, causing injury and
damage to surrounding property such as cars,
houses and windows.
WARNING: Use only original manufacturer’s
replacement parts, accessories and attach-
ments. Failure to do so can cause possible
injury, poor performance and may void your
warranty.
• You may make adjustments and repairs de-
scribed here. For other repairs, have the trim-
mer serviced by an authorized service dealer.
• Consequences of improper maintenance may
include excess carbon deposits resulting in loss
of performance and discharge of black oily
residue dripping from the muffler.
• Make sure all guards, straps, deectors and
handles are properly and securely attached to
avoid the risk of personal injury.
REPLACING THE NYLON THREAD
1. Hold the string head
and unscrew the spool
retainer.
Turn counterclock-
wise.
2. Remove the empty spool from the string
head. Keep the spring attached to the spool.
3. Remove the last of nylon threads.
4. Cut and hook the nylon inside the spool,
make sure the two strings are captured in the
slots opposite each other on the spool. Make
sure the ends of each string is extended ap-
proximately 152 mm (6 in.) beyond each slot.
5. Thread the strings
into the eyelets in the
string head. Carefully
push the spool into
the string head (gen-
tly pull the strings to
the outside if neces-
sary).
When the spool is positioned in the string
head, grasp the strings and pull sharply to re-
lease them from the slots in the spool.
6. Push down and turn the spool counterclock-
wise until it no longer turns. Hold the spool
down and rotate clockwise a small amount.
Release the spool. The spool should be locked
down in the string head. If not, hold down and
rotate until locked.
7. Make sure the string head and the spool re-
tainer are installed on the drive shaft by turn-
ing the retainer clockwise to tighten.
8. Pull the strings again to rotate the spool into
cutting position. Push the spool retainer down
while pulling on string(s) to manually advance
the string and to check for proper assembly of
the string head.
CLEANING THE EXHAUST PORT AND MUFFLER
Depending on the type of fuel used, the type
and amount of oil used, and/or your operat-
ing conditions, the exhaust port and muffler
may become blocked with carbon deposits. If
you notice a power loss with your gas powered
tool, a qualified service technician will need
to remove these deposits to restore perfor-
mance.
SPARK PLUG
The spark plug must be cleaned or replaced
every 25 hours or yearly to ensure proper per-
formance of your product.
Cleaning Instructions:
• Remove the spark arrestor from the mufer.
1. Spray the spark arrestor with a quality car-
bon cleaner.
2. Gently clean using a wire brush.
3. Install the new or cleaned spark arrestor and
reassemble completely before use.
REPLACING AND CLEANING AIR FILTER
For proper performance and long life, keep air
filter clean.

powered equipment.

Engine will not start
No spark. Check spark. Remove spark plug. Re-
attach the spark plug cap and lay spark plug on
metal cylinder. Pull the starter rope and watch
for spark at spark plug tip. If there is no spark,
repeat test with a new spark plug.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Air
filter
No fuel. Push primer bulb until bulb is full of
fuel. If bulb does not fill, primary fuel delivery
system is blocked. Contact a service dealer. If
primer bulb fills, engine may be flooded (see
next item).
Flooded engine. Remove spark plug, turn trim-
mer so spark plug hole is aimed at the ground.
Move choke lever to “RUN” and pull starter
cord 10 to 15 times. This will clear excess fuel
from engine. Clean and reinstall spark plug.
Pull starter three times with choke lever at
“RUN”. If engine does not start, move choke
lever to “CHOKE” and repeat normal starting
procedure. If engine still fails to start, repeat
procedure with a new spark plug.
Engine does not reach full speed and
emits excessive smoke
Check oil fuel mixture. Use fresh fuel and the
correct 2-cycle oil mix.
Air filter dirty. Clean the air filter. Refer to “Re-
placing and Cleaning the Air Filter” earlier in
this manual.
Grass wraps around driveshaft housing
and stringhead
Cutting tall grass at ground level. Cut tall grass
from the top down.
Operating trimmer at part throttle. Operate
trimmer at full throttle.
