GENERAL PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS
*Before using this Buoyancy Compensator (BC), you must receive instrucon and cercaon in SCUBA diving and
buoyancy control from a recognized training agency. Use of SCUBA equipment by uncered or untrained persons is
dangerous and can result in serious injury or death.
*Read this owner’s manual completely before aempng to use your BC, and become familiar with it rst in a
controlled environment, such as a swimming pool, in order to weight yourself properly and to become comfortable
with using its many features and adjustments.
*Before every dive, perform a complete pre-dive inspecon according to the procedure prescribed in this manual to
ensure that all components are funconing properly and that no signs of damage or leaks are present. If your BC is not
funconing properly or is damaged, remove it from service unl it can be repaired by an authorized Halcyon Dealer.
*Before every dive, as part of your pre-dive inspecon, ensure that all components of your BC system are securely
connected.
*Your BC is not a li bag. DO NOT use it to bring heavy objects to the surface. Doing so may cause permanent damage
to the BC and could also result in an uncontrolled ascent.
*DO NOT overinate your BC. Control all ascents. A rapid, uncontrolled ascent may cause arterial gas embolism or
decompression sickness and could lead to serious injury or death.
*In the event of an uncontrolled ascent, it is important to immediately begin venng air from the BC. Connue
venng air to slow your ascent rate if neutral buoyancy cannot be re-established.
*In an emergency such as an out-of-air situaon or uncontrolled descent, it is important to remove and jeson
weight immediately. DO NOT depend solely on using your BC’s power inator to li you to the surface.
*DO NOT inhale from your oral inator. The BC may contain harmful contaminants or gasses, which could cause
suocaon, serious injury, or infecon of the lungs.
*Disassembly, repair, or lubricaon must not be aempted by persons who are not factory-trained and authorized by
Halcyon. Unauthorized service will render the warranty null and void.
*Factory-prescribed service for this BC should be performed at least once annually by an authorized Halcyon Dealer.
*Annual service consists of a complete overhaul of the power inator and a general air leak inspecon of the bladder
and valve connecons.
WARNING:Your Buoyancy Compensator (BC) is NOT a lifejacket; it does not guarantee
a head-up position of the wearer at the surface. It does not meet U.S. Coast Guard
regulations for a life preserver or personal otation device (PFD). If you become
unconscious in the water without a buddy present to immediately assist you, you may
suer serious injury or death from drowning.

Your Buoyancy Compensator is primarily designed to help you maintain neutral buoyancy while in a comfortably
balanced, face-down swimming posion underwater. It is also designed to provide you with otaon so that you can
rest on the surface, but it is not designed to funcon as a life preserver or personal otaon device (PFD). In order to
meet U.S. Coast Guard regulaons, a PFD must be designed so that it automacally rights you to a face-up posion
and holds your head out of the water on the surface. The design characteriscs of a personal otaon device are
therefore dierent from those of a Buoyancy Compensator. The ability of any otaon device to oat you in a face-up
posion can also be aected by other diving equipment you wear, including a cylinder or exposure suit, and whether
it can be inated before you lose consciousness.
For this reason, it is important to always dive with a buddy and to maintain close proximity with them at all mes. Do
not depend on any otaon device to hold your face above the surface in the event that you are rendered unconscious
in the water while diving.
WARNING: While this manual provides some basic guidelines for certain buoyancy control
techniques, it is not a substitute for training from a professional diving instructor. Failure
to weight yourself properly may create a hazardous condition that could lead to serious
injury or death. If you are unsure how to weight yourself in order to achieve optimum
buoyancy underwater and on the surface, do not dive until you have obtained the
necessary instruction from your diving instructor or an authorized Halcyon Dealer.

The Halcyon Traveler™ BC merges the simplicity and lightweight appeal of small jacket systems with the performance
and convenience of back-mounted BC systems. The Traveler™’s unique molded backplate has an integrated single
tank carrier and Cinch™ quick-adjust system, creang a secure and easily adjustable BC. These integrated design
features are specically designed for single-tank diving by keeping the tank close to the diver’s back while maintaining
the full adjustability of the wildly popular Cinch™ adjustment system. These unique design features are combined
with a number of other weight-cung features making the Halcyon Traveler™ one of the lightest high-performance
BCs in the industry.
Your Halcyon Traveler™ BC includes a unique, patent-pending Cinch™ adjustment that allows you to size the harness
quickly, creang the perfect t regardless of the amount of thermal protecon worn. This novel combinaon allows
your new Halcyon BC to provide all the benets of technical diving systems without the sizing complicaons inherent
in other designs. Individuals are now able to change suits or even share a BC between divers by quickly adjusng the
harness; all this without compromising the harness integrity or our trademarked connuous-webbing design.
DISASSEMBLY OF THE TRAVELER™ BC
The Traveler™ is not designed to be disassembled. This system can only be used with a single tank. It is not possible
to use other BCs with the Traveler™. If you are looking for a modular system, please see our Innity™ and Eclipse™
product lines.
ADJUSTING THE HALCYON TRAVELER™ BC
• To ghten the harness: while using both hands, grasp the ends of the waistband webbing and pull up and outward
(at roughly 45 degrees) from the body. (Fig. 1)
• To loosen the harness: grasp the webbing at the shoulder straps just above the waist; push the harness out and
up slightly from your waist. (Fig. 2)
*Note: It is possible to over-ghten the harness. If desired, a tri-glide can be put in place as a “stopper” on the
webbing to allow a full stop of sizing when the harness has reached its desired t. (Fig. 2a)

FITTING THE HALCYON TRAVELER™ BC
While standing on land, your BC should be snug but not uncomfortably ght. In the water your harness should be
snug enough to prevent notable moon of the cylinder as you change orientaon, but not too ght so as to bind or
restrict your complete range of shoulder and arm movement. Generally speaking, you should be able to t two or
three ngers underneath the strap.
Allow for at least two ngers of spacing between the harness strap and your body. (Fig 3)
The shoulder D-rings should be high enough to allow for proper storage of your Scout back-up lights and to allow for
ease of use of your wing’s inator hose.
The crotch strap should be comfortable but should also prevent your tank from riding up on your back. To adjust the
crotch strap, buckle the waist strap without running it through the crotch strap. Now pull the crotch strap up to the
waist belt. Set the length so that the top of the crotch strap loop extends a half inch (12mm) over the top of the waist
belt. (Fig. 4)

Once you have properly sized your Secure Harness, you will want to ne-tune the posion of the D-rings. The shoulder
D-rings should be posioned relavely high on the shoulder straps.
To posion the shoulder D-rings, extend your arms straight out to the side, parallel to the ground. Bend at the elbow
and bring your thumb straight to the shoulder strap. The center of your thumb should intersect the center of the
D-ring. (Fig. 5)
Next, reach across your body to (or almost to) your le shoulder with your right arm. Make sure the right-side D-ring
doesn’t pinch between your arm and chest. Do the same with your le. If either D-ring pinches, adjust it upwards.

The waist D-ring is normally used for clipping o the SPG. To posion the waist D-ring, run your le thumb straight
down your le side unl it hits the waist strap. Your thumb should intersect the D-ring very close to your hip bone.
The posion might need to be adjusted aer your rst dive with your BC system. (Fig. 7)
The front crotch D-ring is only used with a tow-behind scooter. Gear should never be clipped to this D-ring, as it will
hang in the slipstream and pose entanglement hazards.

You will probably want to trim the extra webbing aer you’ve determined the best size range for your Cinch™ harness
and crotch strap. You should leave a bit of extra length unl you are certain you are happy with the sizing range of
your harness. (Fig. 8)
In water, pracce clipping/unclipping the SPG and have your buddy check the posion of the tank. You do not want
the waist D-ring posioned so far back that you can’t comfortably clip or unclip your SPG.
WEIGHTINGYOUR HALCYON TRAVELER™
Your Halcyon BC ulizes a unique set of weight xtures that allow the quick installaon of addional weight. This is
parcularly useful when traveling as it reduces the weight you must carry with you. Moving some weight to the BC
system also balances your body more eciently and reduces the ineciency and discomfort of weight worn on your
waist.
You should refer to your previous training in order to assess how much weight you need to carry in releasable form.
If you require releasable weight, you may use a weight belt or the Halcyon’s oponal ACB weight pockets (discussed
below).
The Halcyon Traveler™ has been designed to work with a maximum 12 pounds (6kg). The back side of your BC plate
has four xtures, each designed to hold 3 pounds (1.5kg). You must be sure not to use overly large weights or weight
that exceeds these limits. You must also be sure to secure this weight properly and to replace any worn or damaged
xtures.
Installing weights on your Halcyon Traveler™ is relavely easy but must be done with care. Place the weight within the
small velcro closure and secure ghtly. Be sure to ghtly secure the large retaining strap. (Fig. 9)

WARNING
• Do not use the straps if they are becoming worn or if the velcro is not holding ghtly.
• Do not use more than 3lb (1.5kg) per xture.
FINAL ASSEMBLY
WARNING: The cam straps may stretch aer they become wet. Always wet the straps prior to making the nal
adjustment, and apply enough tension to ensure that the cylinder is held completely secure. If the cylinder
were to slip free from the BC while you are diving, you may lose your air supply, which could lead to serious
injury or death.
WARNING: Using too much weight may stress the retaining xtures, allowing the weight to release
spontaneously, which could lead to serious injury or death. Always test your fully rigged and weighted BC
system in a controlled environment such as a pool before aempng a dive.
WARNING: Failure to use the appropriate amount of li for a given cylinder can result in negave buoyancy,
which could lead to serious injury or death. Always test your fully rigged and weighted BC system in a controlled
environment such as a pool before aempng a dive.
CAUTION: It is important not to overweight the diving rig with too much xed weight; this conguraon may
not allow sucient removable weight, prevenng the diver from “ditching” the weight and swimming to the
surface during an emergency.
CAUTION: You should be certain through in-water tesng prior to a dive that, without any air in your BC, you are
capable of swimming against the weight of your conguraon with a full tank and all weight in place. You need
to verify that you are able to manage your SCUBA conguraon in the event of a buoyancy failure.

OPTIONAL LIGHT FIXTURE ASSEMBLY
If you wish to carry a primary, hip-mounted light then you should purchase the oponal Halcyon light xture assembly,
which allows the light to remain xed at your waist while the harness adjusts freely. (Fig. 10)
INSTALLING THE OPTIONAL LIGHT RETAINER ASSEMBLY
• Insert the rigid webbing grommet hole through the outer slot of the Cinch adjustment. (Fig. 11)
• Fold the webbing and align the grommet with the hole on the Cinch adjustment. Secure both items with the 5/8-
inch bolt and ghten snugly. (Fig. 12)
• Slide the buckle xture on to the waist band with the open end of the buckle facing the backplate. The buckle is
secured to the tab of webbing that protrudes from the aached light xture. (Fig. 13)
• The buckle can be adjusted and the light posioned according to individual preference.

INSTALLING THE OPTIONAL ACB WEIGHT POCKETS
To facilitate the use of releasable weight, Halcyon oers the oponal Acve Control Ballast (ACB) Integrated Weight
Pockets. These are designed to replace the need for a convenonal weight belt. The ACB is comprised of two weight
pockets aached to the harness waist belt. Each pocket features an internal pocket with handle for convenient
transport between dives. The le pocket has an integrated D-ring that replaces the D-ring on the harness. Both
pockets have a simple and secure tri-glide aachment to prevent the pockets from sliding forward while you are in a
proper horizontal swimming posion.
• The ACB aachment webbing should have an installed tri-glide that determines placement of the pocket on the
diver’s waist. The webbing tail should run through the outermost slot on the Cinch adjustment and then through
the aached tri-glide. (Fig. 14)
• Thread the waistband webbing through the ACB sleeve. (Fig. 15)
• Repeat the process on the opposite side.

RELEASING THE ACB INTEGRATED WEIGHT POCKETS
To remove the weight pockets, release the buckles on the outer pockets, and slide the inner pockets out and away
from your body. Make certain that the weighted inner pockets are free from any entanglements, then release.

PRE-DIVE BC SYSTEM INSPECTION
Before each use, the BC must be given a thorough visual inspecon and funconality test. Do not dive with a BC
that shows signs of damage unless a complete inspecon is performed by an authorized Halcyon dealer. As part
of your normal yearly service, you should ensure your Halcyon technician periodically checks the enre Buoyancy
Compensator, including the OPV, for damage or corrosion. The Secure Harness webbing should be checked for signs
of wear. If your harness shows wear, replace the webbing before diving.
INSPECTION CHECKLIST
• Connect the wing’s power inator to a clean air source via the LP quick-disconnect hose. Depress and release the
inator buon intermiently to ensure that the airow is unobstructed and that the airow stops completely
when the buon is released.
• Manually operate the overpressure (OP) valve by pulling on the aached string to test spring and valve integrity.
Fully inate the buoyancy wing unl the OP valve opens. Regular inspecon of the OP valve for corrosion or
damage is recommended.
• Examine the operaon of the OP valve by repeatedly inang the wing to ensure that the valve opens to relieve
excess pressure, yet closes immediately aerward to allow the bladder to remain taut and fully inated.
• Check the funcon of the oral inator buon, rapid exhaust valve, and overpressure/manual dump valve to ensure
a rapid and unobstructed exhaust from each valve. Listen closely for any leakage with the wing fully inated but
not connected to a low-pressure air source. If there is any suspicion of leak, submerge and, once equalized to
depth, check for connued bubbling.
• Make a nal check of tension of both cam straps on the SCUBA cylinder to ensure that they have not loosened
due to stretching.
• Before entering the water, check both ACB system pockets (if using oponal ACB system) to ensure that they are
correctly fastened to the BC.

WARNING: Loss of the ACB system pockets can occur if the buckles are not securely latched. Unintenonal
release of both weight pockets underwater may lead to an uncontrolled ascent and could result in serious
injury or death.
WARNING: If any leakage can be heard, or if the bladder begins to deate within 5-10 minutes, DO NOT aempt
to use the BC unl it has received factory-prescribed service from an authorized Halcyon dealer.
BC SYSTEM CARE AND MAINTENANCE
With proper care, your Halcyon BC will provide many years of reliable service. The following preventave maintenance
must be performed to extend the life of your BC.
PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE
• Avoid repeated or prolonged use in heavily chlorinated water. Prolonged exposure to chemically treated water
can damage the BC’s material.
• Do not allow the BC’s wing to chafe against any sharp objects or rough surfaces that could abrade or puncture
the bladder.
• Do not set or drop heavy objects, such as block weights, on the BC’s wing. Store the wing parally inated to
reduce the possibility of puncture.
• Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and extreme heat. Nylon fabric may fade when exposed to the sun’s
ultraviolet rays, and extreme heat may damage the integrity of the BC’s welded seams.
• Avoid any contact with oil, gasoline, or other solvents or contaminants.
ADDITIONAL WARNINGS
CAUTION: Recommended working pressure of the Halcyon BC inator is 120 psi (8.3 bar) to 160 psi (11 bar).
CAUTION: The operang temperature range of the Halcyon BC system is -20 Celsius (-4 Fahrenheit) to 70 Celsius
(158 Fahrenheit). All prudent/known safeguards and procedures should be observed when diving in near or
sub-freezing temperatures on the surface and below.

CAUTION: Before rinsing, ensure that the power inator is pressurized with air. This will prevent foreign parcles
and contaminants from entering the valve mechanism in the event that the inator buon is accidentally
depressed.
POST-DIVE MAINTENANCE
To prevent permanent damage from corrosion, salt crystals, or chlorine aack, thoroughly rinse the BC inside and out
with fresh water aer every day of use, using the following procedure:
1. Pressurize the power inator with low-pressure air via the quick-disconnect hose.
2. Using a garden hose or other fresh water source, direct water through the oral inator to ush the interior of the
bladder, and then thoroughly rinse the exterior of the BC.
3. Completely drain the bladder of water, either through the oral inator or through the overpressure valve, being
careful to avoid operang the power inator.
4. Inate the BC and allow it to dry inside and out before storing. Store the BC parally inated, away from direct
sunlight, and in a cool, dry, clean area.

WARRANTY INFORMATION
All warranty requests must be accompanied by proof of original purchase from an authorized Halcyon Dealer. Be sure
to save your sales receipt, and present it whenever returning your BC for warranty service.
HALCYON warrants, to the original purchaser only, that the HALCYON Buoyancy Compensator will be free of defects
in materials and/or crasmanship under normal diving use for one year from the date of purchase, provided proper
care is performed on all materials as described within this manual. Should your HALCYON BC prove to be defecve
for any reason (other than those listed in the limitaons secon below), it will be repaired or replaced (at HALCYON’s
discreon) free of charge excluding shipping and handling charges. All correspondence concerning this warranty must
be accompanied by a copy of the original sales receipt. Repair or replacement is HALCYON’s only responsibility and
your only remedy under this warranty.
WARNING: It is dangerous for untrained and uncered persons to use the equipment covered by this warranty.
Therefore, use of these products by an untrained person renders any and all warranes null and void. Use of
SCUBA equipment by anyone who is not a cered diver, or who did not receive training through a recognized
cercaon agency, shall render void all warranes, expressed or implied.
ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR
A PARTICULAR PURPOSE ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO A PERIOD ENDING ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE.
Some states in the U.S. and certain foreign countries do not allow limitaons on the duraon of implied warranes,
so this may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specic legal rights. You may have rights that vary from state to
state and country to country.
HALCYON MANUFACTURING DISCLAIMS AND EXCLUDES ANY LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL
DAMAGES.
SOME STATES IN THE U.S. AND CERTAIN FOREIGN COUNTRIES DO NOT ALLOW EXCLUSIONS OR LIMITATIONS OF
LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THIS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
The following restricons apply to this warranty.
This warranty extends to all power inator parts and to the seams of the BC wing bladder.
This warranty does not extend to abrasion, punctures, or tears of the bladder, or seam separaon caused by chemical
aack, including prolonged exposure to chlorine.
This warranty does not extend to damages caused by improper use, improper maintenance, neglect, unauthorized
repairs, modicaons, accidents, re, or casualty.
Cosmec damage, such as scratches, fraying, and nicks, are not covered by this warranty.
This warranty does not extend to equipment used for rental, commercial, governmental, or military purposes.
This warranty covers products purchased in the United States. For warranes that may apply elsewhere, please
contact your local representave.
Failure to meet any of the above requirements will render the warranty null and void.
