UNPACKING
When unpacking the box, do not discard any packing materials until all of the
contents are accounted for:
a. Open the carton to locate the following:
• Digital Angle Finder
• 2 pcs. 1.5V AA battery
• Soft bag
• Operator’s manual
b. Carefully lift the Digital Angle Finder out of the carton and place it on
a stable, flat surface.

The 16” Digital Angle Finder is a precision tool for measuring and transferring
angles. Use it as:
• an angle nder
• a compound-cut calculator
• a protractor

GLOSSARY
SPR: Spring Angle (the angle between the wall and the at, back side of crown
molding)
CNR: Corner (the angle between the two adjacent walls)
MTR: The miter angle computed for the miter saw
BVL : The bevel angle computed for the miter saw

OPERATION
1. BATTERY INSTALLATION (Fig. 2)
This Digital Angle Finder uses two “AA”
batteries.
a. Open the battery cover, located in
the back of the tool (Fig. 2).
b. Insert two new “AA” alkaline
batteries with the polarity (+/-)
as indicated on the inside of the
battery compartment.
c. Securely close the cover.
NOTE:
• Always turn off the tool before installing or replacing the batteries.
• Replace the batteries when the battery indicator appears and blinks on the
LCD display screen.
• Remove the batteries from the Digital Angle Finder when it is not used for
extended periods.
• The 2 AA batteries should match each other in brand and type.
• Do not mix old and new batteries.
• Remove depleted batteries immediately, and dispose of them according to
your local ordinance.
• Never dispose of batteries in re.

OPERATION
2. TURN THE DIGITAL ANGLE FINDER ON, OFF, AND REVERSE THE IMAGE
a. Press the ON/OFF button to turn on the Digital Angle Finder. The LCD
screen will rst briey display all of the angle-calculation elements and
then display the relative angle between the folding leg and the base leg.
b. When the device is turned on, briey pressing the button again will ip the
display on the screen.
c. Press the button and hold it for about 3 seconds to turn off the tool.
d. When the Digital Angle Finder is inactive for 5 minutes, it will automatically
turn off to save battery power.
3. TO USE THE DIGITAL ANGLE FINDER BUBBLE VIALS FOR LEVEL AND
PLUMB MEASUREMENTS
NOTE:
Use the highly accurate bubble vials to establish level or plumb surfaces. The LCD
display is for use in making relative-angle measurements only; it is not useful for level
and plumb measurements. The LCD display may be turned off for this function.
Horizontal measurement
Place the Digital Angle Finder on the work surface; the surface will be at true
level when the bubble is positioned exactly between the marks on the vial.
Vertical measurement
Place the Digital Angle Finder against a vertical work surface; the surface will be
at plumb (true vertical) when the bubble is positioned exactly between the marks
on the plumb bubble vial.

OPERATION
4. MEASURING ANGLES (Fig. 3)
a. Press the ON/OFF button to turn
on the tool.
b. Unfold the folding leg from the
base leg (level body).
c. Place each of the two legs at
against one of the surfaces
forming the angle.
d. The interior angle αbetween the
base leg and the folding leg is
measured and shown on the LCD display.
NOTE:
• If the digital display cannot be read easily (e.g., when working overhead),
press the HOLD button to freeze the display, and the indicator “H” will blink
on the LCD display. The value on the display does not change even when the
legs are moved with respect to each other and the tool is moved. Press the
button again to free the display.
• Contact surfaces and contact edges must be clean. Dirt particles may lead to
inaccurate measurements.

5. USING THE LEG EXTENSION (Fig. 4)
The leg extension assists angle
measurement when the geometry of the
surfaces that form the angle are such
that the folding leg cannot contact one of
the surfaces.
a. Attach the leg extension: Slide the
leg extension from the end onto
the folding leg.
b. Extend the leg extension as far
as necessary over the joint of the Digital Angle Finder.
For the measurement, the interior angle

OPERATION
6. DETERMINING THE MITER AND
BEVEL ANGLES FOR CUTTING
CROWN MOLDING
The Digital Angle Finder can
automatically calculate the exact
miter-angle and bevel-angle cut
settings for precise crown molding cuts,
based on “SPR” and “CNR” information.
Determine, save, and enter the spring
angle (SPR)
a. Tack the crown molding to the
corner of a table with the surface
that will come in contact with the
wall postioned at on the table, as
shown in Fig. 5.
b. Press the power button to turn on
the tool.
c. Place the folding leg at against
the underside of the table, parallel
to the front edge of the table, and
the base leg at against the back
side of the crown molding (Fig. 5);
the supplementary angle of the
spring angle will show on the LCD
display (Fig. 6).
d. Press the “MTR/BVL” button: the
spring angle is automatically
computed and displayed for 3
seconds. “SPR” will also show in
the display (Fig. 7).

OPERATION
e. Press the “SPR” button to save
the SPR angle in the tool for later
use. “S” shown in the LCD display
indicates that the spring angle is
saved successfully (Fig. 8).
NOTE:
• To recall the saved spring angle,
press the SPR button after the tool is
turned on.
• If the spring angle is already known,
follow steps f-h below, to input the
SPR angles.
f. Press the power button to turn on
the tool.
g. Move the folding leg until the
known spring angle is displayed
on the LCD display; press the
MTR/BVL button to input the SPR
angle. “SPR” will show on the LCD
display (Fig. 9 & Fig. 7).
h. Push the “SPR” button to save this value in the tool; the letter “S” shown
on the LCD display indicates the spring angle is saved successfully (Fig. 8).

OPERATION
Determine the corner angle( CNR)
a. After determining or saving the
SPR angle, place one leg of unit
against each of two adjacent walls
to measure the angle of the wall
corner (Fig. 10); “CNR” will blink on
the LCD display.
b. Press the MTR/BVL button to input
the CNR angle, then the “CNR” will
stop blinking. (Fig. 11)
NOTE:
Any time when you turn on the unit,
press the SPR button to check the saved
SPR angle, and then it will go into CNR
mode with CNR blink on LCD display
automatically, place the unit to desired
measuring location as step a. to determine
the CNR angle.
If once you want to use a new SPR angle
instead of the saved SPR angle, place the
unit to desired measuring location, press
the MTR/BVL button, “SPR” will show on the LCD display, this means you are using
current SPR angle showed on LCD, then operate unit follow step a. and b. to determine
the CNR angle.

OPERATION
Determine the miter and bevel angles
for cutting crown molding
a. Press the MTR/BVL button to
display the miter angle; “MTR” will
show in the LCD display (Fig. 12).
b. Press the MTR/BVL button again
to display the bevel angle; “BVL”
will show on LCD display (Fig. 13).
c. Record the MTR/BVL values and
set the miter and bevel angles on
the compound miter saw.
d. To recall the MTR or BVL angles,
press the hold button for 3
seconds go back to the last gure.
e. To return to the normal mode,
press the MTR/BVL button again.
NOTE:
If the angle measured is out of allowable
range of spring or corner angle, “ -----” will
appear in the LCD display and the tool will
revert to the normal measuring mode after approximately 10 seconds. The allowable
range for spring angles is 25.1° to 60.9°; for corner angles it is 59° to 151°.
WARNING
When cutting crown moldings, follow all instructions in the operating manual of
the compound miter saw.

MAINTENANCE
This Digital Angle Finder has been designed to be a low-maintenance tool.
However, in order to maintain its performance, you must always follow these
simple directions.
• Avoid exposing the tool to shock, continuous vibration or extreme hot or cold
temperatures.
• Store the tool indoors and in a safe place.
• Handle the tool with care. Treat it as a precision optical device, such as a
camera or binoculars.
• Always clean the tool with a clean, soft cloth. If necessary, slightly moisten
the cloth with pure alcohol or a little water.
• Check the batteries regularly to avoid deterioration.
• Always remove the batteries from the tool if it is not going to be used for an
extended period of time.
• Replace the batteries when the battery icon displayed on the screen indicates
that they are fully depleted.
• Do not attempt to change any part of the tool.
• Tool service must be performed only by a qualied repair center. Service or
maintenance performed by unqualied personnel could result a risk of injury.

3 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
This digital angle nder is warranted to the original purchaser from the original
purchase date for two years, plus one additional year with product registration
at www.hammerheadtools.com (2+1), for a total three years subject to the
warranty coverage described herein.
Please retain your receipt.
This digital angle nder is warranted to the original user to be free from
defects in material and workmanship. If you believe that the tool is defective at
any time during the specied warranty period, call HAMMERHEAD support at
1-877-888-1880 to speak with a customer service agent. This warranty does not
cover: (1) Part failure due to normal wear or tool abuse (2) Any parts have been
altered or modied by anyone other than authorized HAMMERHEAD personnel.
This warranty excludes bits, bulbs and accessories. This warranty gives you
specic legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary from state.
