Carrier.

HP77.
6) Replacethe cover to the card-reader
port.
Note:

any
plug-in
module,
thereis
a chance
of
memory
lossin the
HP-71
wheninstalling
a 71
M/M.
Hand
HeldProducts
hasincorporated
several
features
withintheTI M/M'sto minimize
this
occurrence,
however
memory
lossmay
still
occur
uponinitialinstallation.
Werecommend
back-up
of
allfiles
beforeremoving
or installing
any module.
. Be
careful
notto
press
anykeys
on the
HP-71when
installing
aTIMlM.
. Make
certainthe77
M/M is
seatedfirmly
in position
before
turning
on the
HP
71.
o
Do not
force
the
TIMIM into
the
port.
The
TIMIM
willfit
snugly
butthe
sockets
on
the
71M/M must
be
properly
aligned
withthe
pins
in the
HP-71.
7l M/M's . . . EPROM Carrier Versions
TheTl M/M's offer two options
for adding
EPROM to
the HP-71:
the EPROM carrier
by itself
or the EPROM
carrier with 32K of RAM. The EPROM functions the
samein both versions.
o Opening the case
The7l M/M's are
enclosedin plastic
cases
which
have
been
designed
to allow
easyaccessinside
the
Modules. Hand Held Products has utilized
a
specially-designed
adhesive
tape
which
acts as
a
hingefor the case.
Do not remove the tape-the
case opens at the opposite end. To
open the
case:
1)
Grasp
the caseas indicated
in the photograph.

backed-upM/M shouldretainits
memory
for approximately
13monthswhile
your
32Kbatterybacked-up
M/M willretainit'smemory
for approximately29months.
These
figures
are
based
upon
"worst-case"
conditions.
That
condition
wouldhavethe
M/M "sitting
on
the
shelf'withthe
coverintact
and
never
beinginstalledintheHP-71.
Under
normal
use
i.e.
beinginstalledinthe
HP-71far
more
frequently,
your
batterybacked-up
M/M will
retainits
memoryeverlonger.
Once again,to
maximize the life of the battery, the snap-on
cover must be on the M/M any time the
Module is outsidethe HP-71.
Note:
"Normal
use"
is
consideredasleavingthe M/M inside
the HP-71
approximately80o/o
of thetime.
Underthis

your batterylifeshould

Removing
the 71Memory Module
To
removeaTIMlM fromtheHP-7I:
1)Turnoff
theHP-71.
2) Remove
thedoorto thecard-reader
port.
3) Using
your
thumbs,
press
downwardon
the
gold-
embossed
side
(top)of
the
7lMlM while
guiding
theModuleout with
your
fingers.Useeven
pressure
andbesurethe M/M is
pushed
as
straightout as
possible.
4) Replace
the
plastic
insert.
5)
Replacethe
port
cover.
