Manual Contents
This manual contains the informaon necessary for the correct installaon and operaon
of a Hanskamp Black V. Study and understand this informaon thoroughly before cong-
uraon of the Black V. Failure to do so could result in damage to equipment. Please con-
sult your milking equipment dealer if you do not understand the informaon in this man-
ual, or if you need addional informaon.
All informaon in this manual has been compiled with care. Hanskamp shall not be liable
for errors or faults in this manual. The recommendaons are meant to serve as guide-
lines. All instrucons, pictures and specicaons in this manual are based on the latest
informaon that was available at the me of publicaon. Your Black V may comprise
improvements, features or opons that are not covered in this manual.

applicable.

1. Introducon
Having a calm herd heavily contributes to the health and welfare of the cows, and in
turn to the farmers’ well-being as well. A common problem with concentrate dispensers
inside out-of-parlour feeders and milking robots is spillage of concentrate out of the dis-
penser, when the cow already has taken up its poron. This oen happens when cows
bump against the feeders. In this way, the cows are rewarded for their unwanted behav-
iour. This creates restlessness in the area around the out-of-parlour feeder or milking
robot, as well as in the herd itself.
The Black V an-spill, manufactured by Hanskamp, oers the perfect soluon for this
problem. This product consists of an auger, actuated by an electromotor, and is placed
underneath the concentrate supply line. The motor actuates an auger, which dispenses
the concentrate in a poronwise manner. This is accomplished by a dosing disc. Aer
dispensing a poron, the disc will be orientated in the right way, prevenng the concen-
trate from falling out of the dispenser, due to e.g. bumping by cows.
The dispenser is robust, compact, and is fully enclosed. It supports dierent types of
motors. However, in this manual, the focus is on the RIM motor. This 24V AC/DC electro-
motor does not have sliding contacts. Therefore, there is no wear and tear. Further-
more, the feeding pulse gets converted to a DC pulse. This allows the electromotor to be
actuated more accurately and powerfully. In addion to this, the motor is short-circuit
proof. This means that, in case of current overload, the electric motor or controller will
not sustain damage.
The information in this manual is for farmers and technicians.
 Dairy farmers use the information to test and adjust the Black V or to list
overviews.
 Technicians use the information to install and setup the Black V.

2. Safety
2.1 Introducon
The safety alert symbol idenes important safety messages on your Black V and in the
manual. When you see this symbol, be alert to the possibility of personal injury or death.
Follow the instrucon of the safety message.

2.2 Signal Words
Note the use of the signal words DANGER, WARNING and CAUTION with the safety
messages. The signal word for each message uses the following guidelines:
Warning! Indicates a potenally hazardous situaon that, if not avoided, could
result in death or serious injury, and includes hazards that are exposed when guards
are removed.
Danger! Indicates a imminently hazardous situaon that, if not avoided, will result
in death or serious injury.
2.3 Safety Instrucons
YOU are responsible for the SAFE operaon and maintenance of your Black V. YOU must
make sure that you and anyone else who is going to operate, maintain or work in the vi-
cinity of the Black V knows all the related SAFETY informaon in this manual.
YOU are the key to safety. Good safety pracces protect you and the people around you.
Make these pracces a working part of your safety program. Make sure EVERYONE who
operates, maintains or works near the Black V obeys the safety precauons. Do not risk
injury or death by ignoring good safety pracces.
 Black V owners must train operators before they operate the
Black V. This training must be repeated at least annually.
 The operator must read, understand and obey all safety and
operang instrucons in the manual.
 A person who has not read and understood all safety and operang
instrucons is not permied to operate the Black V.
 Do not modify the equipment in any way. Unauthorized modicaon
may impair the funcon and/or safety and could aect the life of the
equipment, and persons.
 Only use approved spare parts, and make sure they are only installed
by authorized technicians.

2.3.1 General Safety
 Read and understand the manual and all safety signs before you connect
power supplies to operate or adjust the Black V.
 Only trained persons are permied to operate the Black V.
A rst-aid kit must be available near the Black V. Store in a highly visible
place.
 A carbon dioxide or foam re exnguisher must be available near the
Black V. Store the re exnguisher in a highly visible place.
 Install all protecve covers and guards before you operate the Black V.
 Wear the correct protecve clothing and equipment. Disconnect and iso-
late the electrical power supply before you clean or do maintenance on the
Black V.
 Know the emergency medical centre number for your area.
 Contact your nearest milking equipment dealer provider if you have any
quesons
 Review safety related items with all operators frequently (annually).
2.3.2 Electrical Safety
 Only an authorized electrician must install the electrical power supply for
the Black V.
 Make sure the electrical grounding of the electrical system and all parts of
the Black V meet the local rules and regulaons.
 Replace any damaged electrical lines, conduits, switches and components
immediately.
 Isolate the electrical power supply before you open the Black V to work on
the electrical system.
2.3.3 Installaon Safety
 Read and make sure you understand the instrucons in this manual.
 Make sure the Black V is correctly installed.
2.3.4 Operang Safety
 Read and understand the applicable manual and all safety signs before you
connect power supplies to operate or adjust the Black V.
 Only trained persons are permied to operate the Black V.
 Switch o the electrical power supply by taking plug out of the power point
and secure the plug before you clean or do maintenance on the Black V.
 Close the motor cover and install addional guards before you operate the
Black V.
 Keep hands, feet, hair and clothing away from all the electrical parts.
 Keep unauthorized persons, especially small children away from the
Black V at all mes.
 Before the electrical supply is aached to the Black V, make sure all parts
are ght and that all the parts are in good condion.
 Contact your nearest milking equipment dealer if you have any quesons.

2.3.5 Maintenance Safety
 Read and understand the applicable manual and all safety signs before you
connect power supplies to operate or adjust the Black V.
 Only trained persons are permied to maintain the Black V.
 Switch o the electrical power supply by taking plug out of the power
point and secure the plug before you clean or do maintenance on the Black
V.
 Wear protecve clothing and safety goggles when you do work on the
electrical system.
 Make sure all the covers and guards are installed when maintenance work
is complete.

safety messages are in applicable parts of this manual when potenal
hazards may occur if the instrucons or procedures are not followed.

3. Installation instructions
General:
The Black V (g. 2) is an electric feed dosing unit which has been developed to dispense
concentrate feed in pellet form. The Black V is intended for concentrate feed dispensing
inside out-of-parlour and VMS milking systems. In case of using the Black V for milking
parlour feeding, please consult the corresponding manual (Art. Nr.: 001-913-000). If
necessary, this can be requested from the manufacturer. If the Black V is controlled by
a controller, other than the Hanskamp ControlUnit, always consult the instrucons for
the corresponding control unit. For connecng the Black V to an out-of-parlour feeder,
the electric dosage unit can be connected to the next available feed type slot. For this,
consult the corresponding manual.
Please use the annexes further on in this manual for reference to order numbers and
names of individual parts.
Transport and storage.
The Black V will be stored in a sealed box. This box is sealed with tape and the inside of
the box is covered with protection foil to prevent the Black V from damage. The storage
of the Black V will also handled in this way. Multiple Black V units can be transported on
a single pallet.
Warning! Always move the box very carefully!
Warning! When unpacking the box there are different parts that may
fall out of the box! Always keep the box stable with the opening on top!
Warning! Watch out for damages or lose ends that could suer injuries.
Safety stickers:
The user and installer are responsible for the safe operation
and maintenance of the Black V. Safety stickers are used to
ensure safety in and around the Black V. These stickers must be
placed correctly. In case of the Black V, a single sticker is used,
showing multiple warning signs (fig. 3). This needs to be placed
on the Y-piece, which is connected to the concentrate storage
(fig. 4). Please make sure the sticker is clearly visible.
Applying the stickers:
 Make sure the surface is dry and clean.
 Ensure that the surface temperature won’t get below 5°C.
 Find the right position for the sticker.
 Remove a small part of the film on the backside of the
sticker.
 Place the sticker on the surface, next press a small part of
the adhesive layer on the surface.
 Remove the foil carefully and apply the whole sticker on the surface.
 Use a needle to make small air holes in the sticker and use the foil to smooth out
the sticker.

Scker maintenance:
Keep the safetysckers clean and clearly visible. Clean the sckers with soap and water.
Do not use dissolving or corrosive soluons that can damage the sckers. Replace mis-
sing or unreadible sckers. Safety sckers are available at Hanskamp. Please refer to
the arcle numbers when corresponding.
Installaon:
Before installing anything, check if all parts are available using the parts list at the back
of this manual. For this, refer to Annex 5 and 6 (if applicable).
1. Determine where the Black V should be installed, and at what height. It is re-
commended to mount the Black V inside, or proximate to the feeding staon.
Dimensions of the Black V are shown in Annex 1. Mounng examples are can be
found at www.hanskamp.nl/en.
2. Connect the Black V to a storage tube with an inside diameter of 110mm (g. 5).
3. Make sure the power to the control unit is shut down. For this, please refer to
the corresponding manual.
4. Use a six-core cable the connect the Black V to the control unit. Mount the cable
to the RIM motor rst, according to the wiring scheme (Annex 2). Next, connect
the other end of the cable to the control unit’s output. This can be the next avai-
lable feeding slot on the feed staon. The motor’s standard rotang direcon is
counterclockwise. For connecng the Black V to DeLaval Feed 2/Alpro/Delpro
feed staons, a wiring scheme is shown in annex 3. For connecng to other con-
trol units, please refer to the corresponding manual.
Important!
Make sure the wiring is properly secured out of the reach of the animals. This
can result to dangerous situaons.
Danger! The Black V is now under electrical voltage!
5. The Black V is actuated completely electrical. Please pay aenon to the maxi-
mum allowable amperage, which is indicated on the power source. Further-
more, ensure that the pressure on feeder auger exerted by the feed does not
exceed 50kg.
Important!
When installing the Black V, please ensure that the pressure on feeder auger
exerted by the feed does not exceed 50kg.
6. The dosing disc should be mounted on the auger in the correct orientaon, at
which the fall-out hole of the disc is facing upwards. Aer dispensing a poron
of feed, this disc should have the same orientaon. This makes sure the concen-
trate is not spilled out of the feeder. To ensure this, follow the steps below.
 Keep a test-tag in front of the tag-reader. The auger will rotate for a mo-
ment.
 When the auger has stopped rotang, shut down the power of the out-of-
parlour feeder, to prevent the auger from turning unexpectedly.
 Loosen the bolt that is holding the dosing disc in place, and consequently
rotate the dosing disc in the correct horizontal posion (g. 6).
 Fasten the bolt again, so that the disc is rmly secured to the auger.
 Turn on the power supply of the out-of-parlour feeder.

Calibraon
Calibrang the Black V can be done using the following steps, depending on your fee-
ding system:
1. Go to the calibraon menu of your corresponding feeding system. If necessary,
read the corresponding manual or consult your dealer. In order to access the
calibraon menu of DeLaval VMS and Alpro feed staon, the adjacent table can
be used.
In order to correctly measure and set the dispensed volume of feed, use the following
steps:
2. Place a bucket beneath the dispenser to weigh the feed.
3. Keep the test-tag of the corresponding feed type in front of the tag reader.
Feed will be dispensed during 1 minute.
4. Aerwards, weigh the collected amount of feed, and make a note of this.
5. Repeat steps 2 and 3 twice. This means that in total, three measurements have
been done.
6. Calculate the average measured volume, by dividing the total volume by 3.
7. Set this value in the feed computer or VMS soware for the corresponding feed
type.
Repeat these calibraon steps every month, as well as aer relling the storage, and
aer changing the feed type.
 Important! The Black V is exclusively intended for cylindrically
shaped concentrate feed with a diameter of Ø4 to Ø8 mm. The man-
ufacturer cannot guarantee proper funconing when using other
feed types.
 Warning! The Black V’s motor will start as soon as it is being actua-
ted by the control unit. One will not noce it starng beforehand.
Maintenance
1. When maintenance has to be done on the product and it is connected to a con-
trol unit, please prevent it from starng unexpectedly. Ensure the installaon is
completely voltage-free. To do this, disconnect the power supply from the con-
trol unit.
2. It is recommended to have repairs and maintenance done by a specialist.
3. Never open the casing while the Black V is sll operaonal. This with regard to
the danger of electric shocks or becoming trapped in the feeder auger.
4. The user/owner of the Black V is expected to follow the advice and guidelines
of the manual, in order to keep everybody safe. If these requirements are not
fullled, the manufacturer cannot be held accountable in any way for personal
injury or damage to or caused by the product, and this will be solely the respon-
sibility of the user/owner.
 Warning! When changes are being installed/mounted in the Black V,
make sure to shut down the power of the Black V, to prevent acci-
dents.

Disassembly:
When disassembling the Black V, all parts should be separated according to material
type, for processing through a suitable waste management system.
 Please note! In case of disassembly, always switch o the electrical
voltage of the installaon

Warranty limitaons
The warranty excludes costs and expenses due to:
 incorrect use of the equipment, not in accordance with the specicaons in the
instrucons for installaon and use;
 the consequences of any intervenons by engineers other than engineers rec-
ognised and approved by Hanskamp for carrying out service, maintenance and
other technical work;
 incidents such as freezing, ice, re, ooding, inundaon or any other form of
extreme water damage, and lightening;
 defects in the electrical system or earthing system;
 damage to the electrical system caused by vermin, etcetera.
The warranty is not applicable to consequenal damage that is not related to the feed
staon itself. All systems have been tested. However, in the event of faults, Hanskamp
cannot be held responsible for consequenal damage.
