This document contains instructions and warnings that must be followed when installing and
using the Hardwiire Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE). Before installing or using the
EVSE, read this document thoroughly to understand any WARNING and CAUTION symbols.
PLEASE NOTE:
It is highly recommended that electrical outlets for your charger should be installed by a
licensed and qualified electrician. To avoid serious injury or death; installation must comply
with the provisions of the National Electric Code (NEC) and all local codes. In cases of any
conflict between the local codes and the NEC, local codes shall not be ignored.
This electric vehicle charger must be grounded. If it should malfunction or break down,
grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to help reduce the risk of
electric shock. This product includes a cord that is equipped with a grounding conductor and
a grounding plug. The plug must be inserted into an appropriate outlet that is properly
installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
The Symbols Used Have the Following Meanings

Hardwiire EV Charger Safety Caution Notes & Features
Basic precautions should always be followed when using electrical products, including the
following:
• Read all the instructions before using this product.
• Children should not use this device.
• DO NOT use it for other purposes other than charging your EV(s).

• Only use a charger with a dedicated circuit breaker with a fault current.
• DO NOT put fingers into the J1772 EV connector plug.
• DO NOT touch live electrical parts.
• DO NOT step on the charging cable, pull it, fold it up or knot it.
• DO NOT drop, stomp, run over or put heavy items on top of the Housing Control Unit
(Shown in Image Above).
• DO NOT place the charging cable near high-temperage objects.
• DO NOT place the Housing Control Unit, Charger Cable, or NEMA 14-50 or 6-50
Cable/Adapters inside the car or a closed room while charging (Garage Not Included).
• DO NOT use this device in extreme cold or hot temperatures. Only use within its normal
temperature operating range -22⁰F to 122⁰F (-30⁰C to 50⁰C).
• DO NOT plug the charger in or use this charger if the NEMA 14-50, NEMA 6-50 or NEMA
5-15 Outlet is damaged, rusted, cracked or unsafely/loosely connected.
• PRIOR TO CHARGING, ensure the J1772 Connector, Cable, Housing Control Box are free
from any signs of Cracks, loose wires or defects.
• Do NOT use this product if the flexible power cord or EV cable is ragged, has broken
insulation, or any other signs of damage.
• DO NOT use this product if the enclosure or the EV connector or cable is broken, cracked,
open, or shows any other indication of damage.
• If ANY parts of the charger parts become damaged while operating (NEMA 14-50 or NEMA
6-50 power cable, J1772 Connector/Cable, Housing Control Box or NEMA 14-50 or NEMA
6-50 to NEMA 5-15 Adapter) DO NOT UNPLUG charging station. Follow these steps:
1) Turn off the power supply from the circuit breaker that energy is being drawn from.
2) Unplug power cable from the wall.
3) Unplug J1772 Connector.
4) Contact Hardwiire 24/7 at 1(866) 698-6885 or [email protected].
• Before Charging, ensure the NEMA 14-50, NEMA 6-50 or NEMA 5-15 power plug(s) are
compatible with the outlet.
• This EV Charging Station DOES NOT have serviceable parts. DO NOT try to repair or
service the device yourself.
• If the Charging Station DOES NOT work properly as the instructions go over, Please
contact Hardwiire helpline, we are happy to help (Contact customer service at 1(866)
698-6885 or email us at or [email protected].
• KEEP AWAY from erosive materials and ignition sources - USE this product under normal
temperature operating ranges -22⁰F to 122⁰F (-30⁰C to 50⁰C).
• DO NOT contact metal conductor(s) to prevent electric shock, fire or personal injury.
• AVOID dropping, mishandling or abusing your Hardwiire charging station to avoid reducing
the overall performance of the charger. This includes: Housing Control Box, J1772 connector,
NEMA 14-50 or 6-50 Plug & NEMA 14-50 or 6-50 to 5-15 Adapter.

This document provides instructions for the charging station and should not be used for any
other product. Before installation or use of this product, review this manual carefully and
consult with a licensed contractor, licensed electrician, or trained installation expert to ensure
safety standards.
Ensure that the materials used, and the installation procedures, follow local building codes
and safety standards. The information provided in this manual in no way exempts the user of
responsibility to follow all applicable codes or safety standards.
Electric Source Requirements

a DEDICATED CIRCUIT rated for 50A;
208-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz, Single Phase must
be used.

WARNING
The Hardwire Charging Station should be connected to a Standard NEMA 14-50 or 6-50
Receptacle when charging for extended and repetitive periods of time. This charging station
can be OCCASIONALLY used with the NEMA 14-50 or 6-50 to NEMA 5-15 Adapter ensuring
the MAXIMUM AMPERAGE is adjusted to 13 AMPS and/or UNDER (example 8A, 13A). It
CANNOT exceed 13 AMPS with the NEMA 14-50 or 6-50 to NEMA 5-15 adapter. There is a
risk of Fire or Electric Shock if the amperage level exceeds 13 AMPS while using the NEMA
14-50 or 6-50 to NEMA 5-15 Adapter.

Hardwiire Level 2 EV Charging Station
The Hardwiire EV Charger is a simple, yet sophisticated stationary and portable electric
vehicle charging station made to withstand the harshest conditions with its durable IP65
protection grade. This model comes with a military grade cable. Along with that, a NEMA
14-50 or 6-50 to 5-15 Adapter is also included, so road trips are made easy.
Internal design and components of the charger have been selected to provide maximum
operational life of the device and be able to withstand harsh conditions for a long period of
time. The Hardwiire 8-32A charger provides up to 7.68 kWh of power to your vehicle, while
the Hardwiire 8-40A charger provides up to 10 kWh of power to your vehicle.
Before we get into the instructions on Page 15 on How To Set Up and Use Your Charger,
you should know your charger is capable of the following settings:

AMPERAGE DRAW
This amperage current on the chargers are adjustable to the following draws:
8-32A: 8 Amps, 13 Amps, 16 Amps, 20 Amps, 24 Amps & 32 Amps.
or
6-40A: 6 Amps, 8 Amps, 10 Amps, 13 Amps, 16 Amps, 20 Amps, 24 Amps, 32 Amps & 40
Amps.
TIMER
The timer function on this charger is capable of being preset between a 1-8 hour time period.
In other words, you’re able to set the charger to start in: 1 Hour, 2 Hours, 3 Hours, 4 Hours, 5
Hours 6 Hours, 7 Hours or 8 Hours. You can preset your charger so it begins charging at
peak energy hours, to help reduce your charging costs. Or it can just be plugged in and will
begin charging once your charger is set up, as we go over on Page 15.

Installation of Housing Control Box
Step 1)
Using a Screwdriver or Drill with a Phillips
Drill bit;
Fasten the Anchor/Screw Combo or Screw
securely to a wall in a well-structured area
(preferably a stud).
Step 2)
Once the screw is secured, insert the back of
the charger screw hole to the fastened screw
on the wall.
Step 3)
Plug in NEMA 14-50, 6-50 or 5-15 Plug into
wall outlet.
SAFETY CHECK
Before plugging in your charger, ensure your power outlet complies with national standards and
the outlet plug is correctly installed.

Troubleshooting & Technical Support
When a charging session is interrupted due to a temporary error condition, it is best to perform a
reset by doing the following:
1. Count the number of flashes to identify the error type.
2. Unplug the charging Connector from your EV.
3. Turn off the power to the Charging Station by switching the upstream circuit breaker to the
“OFF” position.
4. With the circuit breaker in the “OFF” position, wait 1-2 minutes and then switch the upstream
circuit breaker back to the “ON” position.
5. Confirm the Fault light is no longer present.
6. If the Fault light remains, please contact Hardwiire Support Team at 1(866) 698-6885 or
[email protected]. Or you can Fill out the Technical Support Form. Indicate the number of
red flashes. Etc.
General Care
The exterior of the charging station is designed to be waterproof and dust proof (IP65) Outdoor
Rated). However, periodic cleaning may be required, depending on local conditions. To ensure
proper maintenance of the charging station, follow these guidelines:
To avoid damaging the finish of the products, only use an automotive grade soft cloth to remove
accumulated dirt and dust. Do not use cleaning solvents to clean any of the product
components.
Ensure the Hardwiire EV Charging Station is put back in the carrying bag after charging to avoid
damage when using as a portable charger
If the power cable or the charging connector is damaged, turn off the charging station supply
circuit breaker, do not use the charging station, and contact Hardwiire.
Warranty & Product Support
Hardwiire EV Charging Station is covered under a 2-Year Warranty. Hardwiire warrants that this
product is free from defects in materials and free from defects in workmanship for the period
specified in the warranty from the date of purchase. If during the Warranty Period, under normal
operating conditions, your charging station becomes defective, Hardwiire will, upon written
notice of the defect, replace the charging station until the defect is resolved.
This warranty will not apply if the product has been misused, abused, or altered. The warranty
does not cover cosmetic damage such as scratches, dents, or normal aging. The warranty does
not cover damage as a result of an extreme power surge, extreme electromagnetic field, or any
acts of nature.

The warranty for the cable does not include normal tear and wear. Plugs that have been
exposed to snow or water for a prolonged period of time are not covered by this warranty. The
warranty will apply only if the product is defective. Hardwiire assumes no liability for any
dismantling, removal, installation, re-installation, or labor costs or any consequential damages
associated with this warranty. Hardwiire is not responsible or liable for any costs associated with
faulty product installations.
Hardwiire shall make the final decision, in fairness to all concerned, as to the legitimacy of any
such claim on this warranty. Upon discovery of any defective hardware, please visit our
Technical Support page at www.hardwiire.com/techsupport for further instructions as to how to
repair or replace the defective unit or to submit a support ticket and you will receive a response
